I just happened to pass by this cafe on New Montgomery because I'm rarely in this part of SoMa when I used to be an office drone here. I'm familiar with Sana'a from their Telegraph Avenue location, one of nearly a dozen cafes that have popped up in the last year or so. I have to admit I only had something to eat and was not that impressed. I believe this one is their original location. My late afternoon arrival meant it was as still as a tomb. This time I decided to have one of their signature drinks, the $6.49 Sana'a Latte, which was flavored strongly with cardamom, cinnamon, and ginger (Photo 9). I quite liked it while I bypassed the exotic-looking pastries like the baklava. Perhaps another time. I was super excited to try Sana'a Cafe, but it was just okay. The matcha latte tasted like straight up milk. There was barely any matcha in it, and I was really disappointed so I went to another cafe. The chai was nice and hot, but extremely sweet I didn't enjoy it as much as I could have. Maybe it was just a bad day for the barista. Next time I will try the desserts!
Yemeni coffee and desserts. Yes please! What a cool, unique spot. I am not a coffee person just just got some a milk cake and some halwa. Yummy! I enjoyed the ambience and the Arabic music. Was great to hear that they have multiple locations around the Bay and in Sacramento.
Kind staff, beautiful interior, and delicious Yemeni coffee. Would absolutely recommend coming for an amazing coffee experience. The pot of Sana'ani was delightful and refreshing. The cardamom adds an element of spice to the otherwise bitter dark roast, and the flavors combine well.
Came on a Friday to do some work and appreciated that they have WiFi. A cozy spot to relax and sip tea. Personally the adeni chai was a little sweet for my taste but still enjoyable.
Pros - open daily and late especially in this area of downtown when most spots are closed on the weekends, friendly staff. Cons - none! Haha. I only ever tried their iced sanaa latte (medium sweet) and feta cheese hand pie. They both hit the spot every single time. Obsessed. Literally went four days in a row before work because it's just yummy!
Good place to study or just hang out! They have cards/board games you can play while you just hang out there. We got the pistachio cheesecake and the texture was extremely soft, so if you like cheesecake like that you would like this one. The chai tea we got was great as well, I could see this as a great place to study! FYI: there are outlets but not too many so don't rely on them
A new cafe that opened in fidi! I tried their pink drink and it was delicious ordered off their app and got 20 percent off. They're open until 10pm and lots of people and chairs inside with people chatting and working. I like the interior decoration and have many drink and pastry options.
Yemeni coffee & pastries spot with spacious seating inside! Located in SOMA, they're one of the only cafes that close at 10PM. They have multiple tables and a bar-like seating along the window with multiple outlets: perfect for some WFH vibes. They also have 3 different WiFi networks for you to connect. They have only one bathroom & it's kinda leaky. I got their seasonal Pistachio Latte and coffee taste was strong but pistachio was not. I would come back to try their other coffee and pastries!
I like Sana'a Cafe, the new one in Elk Grove, up by Sac, which is elegant, busy, has good energy, great service, elegant decor, and of course their great spiced coffees and milk cake desserts. They are also open early and late, almost every day. This one is the same ownership I believe, I think they may have expanded already to 4 locations: SF, Oakland, Sac, and Elk Grove? At least that is what I recalled talking to one of the owners about in Elk Grove a couple of months ago when it just opened. However, this location, although quite popular with the local FiDi crowd looking for a place to hang out with the long hours and no hassle vibe, to bring their laptops for a group PM meeting or something, or discuss the next AI startup possibilities and getting funding from their slide deck presentations, is not on the same level as up the I-80 and a little down the i-5 corridors to Elktown, in my opinion. There was only 1 person working when I arrived to meet someone here for a meeting, and he had his head down and seemed preoccupied, like I was interrupting him from something important (this is at the counter/cashier spot.) He did look up after I stood there for awhile (longer than I expected based on the lively prompt salutations from the northern location.). And didn't seem interested in helping me with much energy. I did order a Sana'a Latte, and a Pistachio Milk Cake slice, and my meet-up partner showed up and ordered something, too. The latte and milk cake were pretty consistent to the other location I had been to before. But this location doesn't have a lot of pride in ownership I encountered on my first (and second) Sana'a visit up north. It had a funkier feel, not as clean, low energy, a bit dark, just not encouraging the same energy as my past experiences. If you didn't know any different, maybe its ok, you don't know what you don't know. But it felt more chain outlet just getting by vibe, not a bright entrepreneurial space with high quality exotic Yemeni Coffee shop it has at other locations, or at least like in Elk Grove.
Food-5/5- Iced Jubani Latte--5/5-mmm..mmm hmm..this hit the spot. What can I say, I love spices and ginger. This a traditional Yemeni coffee blend made with light roast coffee, coffee husks, and spices like cardamom, ginger, and cinnamon. Iced chocolate--5/5-Ordered this for my 8 yo and I realized an iced hot chocolate sounds good on a wonderful summer day in Frisco. Chicken roll-4/5-It was good but dear Lord it was $8. It tasted like a Middle eastern taquito, don't get me wrong, it is was delicious though, but prices in SF are inflating like crazy. Cinnamon roll--5/5-mmm...m..hmmm, this hit the spot for me. I requested it toasted, I always ask to get it toasted, I mean it was $6.25, not too bad. Service--5/5-Very fast! I didn't even wait. My food came out immediately. Ambiance--5.1/5-Super classy! Nice place to study! Maybe Academy of Art students study here. I was coming from Bart and needed a drink on a hot day to SF Moma. It is off of Montgomery bart, Montgomery and Howard. I would like to come here for a business debrief.
Would come back again for their pastries! This yemeni cafe has topped Delah Coffee as I enjoyed Sana'a's savory pastries quite a bit. I had the chicken turnover and a goat cheese croissant. Both were good but the chicken turnover was my favorite (and had more filling compared to Delah Coffee) They offer a variety of hot and iced coffee, teas and drinks. I got their popular Adani Chai as recommended by the staff and enjoyed it! Next time I'd get it a little less sweet but they can adjust the sugar level for you. They do have a public bathroom inside but fyi it's not the nicest
I tried Yemeni chai for the first time here. Since I'm a huge fan of Indian chai, I was curious to try a Middle Eastern version--and honestly, it turned out to be the best chai I've ever had. On my second and third visits, I found it less tasty compared to the first time. Later, when I talked to the staff member who had prepared it on my very first visit, he kindly adjusted the sugar and milk to suit my taste, and it was perfect again. The staff are always friendly and kind, and the café has plenty of seating with a calm, relaxed vibe. If you ever find yourself craving chai in San Francisco, this is the place to go!
Needed a spot to do some work and I don't drink coffee. So I love a spot with great tea. Their chai was excellent! I ask for little sweetness and it was just right. With such a large spicy pot, the Dubai Milk Cake was the perfect pairing. I was grateful for an outlet next to some tables so I could work. The ambiance was both relaxing and decorative. Very much enjoy this spot. The tea, the sweets, the decor and vast seating. read more
Visited Sana'a Cafe recently and tried their iced chai and popular Dubai Chocolate Cheese danish. They are a Yemeni cafe franchise with most of their locations in the Bay Area, a few in Southern California, and one in Tacoma, Washington. Their drinks and pastries are delicious. This particular location interior is comfy and well-lit. Definitely coming back to try other items on their menu. Service was friendly. Located on New Montgomery between Natoma and Howard. read more

A wonderful place to share a pot of coffee with friends before going to the SF MOMA! The large was more than enough for 3 people and we can likely manage with a medium next time. We had the medium & dark roast and could taste all the notes described. The inside was nicely decorated and once they started to play music it helped create more of a cafe ambiance! Will definitely be back to try some of their baklava or other sweet treats. read more

Obsessed. The pistachio latte was to die for, I ordered it a little extra sweet and it was perfect. The biscoff cheesecake was delicious. Went two days in a row because I was so impressed and in the area for limited time. The Dubai cheesecake was okay, but I wouldn't order that again. read more
I didn't have the best experience at Sana'a cafe sadly, despite wanting to go for a while now. It is a charming cafe and most of their items were good but... When you place an order you are asked if you want to eat here or take to go. I said for here. You are given a buzzer for when the order is ready. When it buzzed I went over and found only half my order (the adeni chai in a to-go cup, one of my milk cakes on a plate but the other missing, and my friends latte cheesecake slices). The honeycomb bread was missing and of our milk cakes were missing. I was really bummed to have the adeni chai in a to go cup when I said it was for here, because the presentation of it is nice. When I went up to request my missing items, all the staff preparing items just kinda ignored me? Then one of them looked at me and asked what I was looking for and I must've repeated myself 3 of 4 times, it felt like they thought I was lying to get free food but they already took the buzzer away. It was Eid though, so they were pretty busy. Innocent mistakes happen all the time, I just wish they handled it better. I really don't mind if something is forgotten, but I do mind when I have to awkwardly ask several times and get ignored. We did eventually get what was missing, but it soured the experience. The milk cakes were amazing, adeni chai amazing, and the honeycomb bread was underwhelming to me. read more

Great new spot opened up near the big cluster of offices near SOMA, so I decided to check it outs Great vibes overall and nice to get to try some Yemeni cuisine. The caramel macchiato tasted great and was prepared quickly. Their pastries stood out more to me - wasn't too sweet and nice portions. Only complaint was that we ordered their iced matcha latte and it tasted more like milk than any other ingredient - it was also hardly green... Otherwise, I'd definitely return to try them again when I'm in the offices nearby! read more
This is a great location! First the desserts and pastries are unique! I really enjoyed the pistachio milk cake and the hazelnut, blueberry, & pistachio turkish delight. The guy at the counter was nice and gave me advice about what pastry to choose. The Junubi drink was different and I suggest getting it sweetened if you've never tasted something like it before. I'm just visiting but I plan on coming back for the actual Yemeni coffees. The ambiance is great if your looking for doing work or studying and wanting coffee and teas especially if it's not just a Starbucks. read more
I'm so sad LA doesn't have this gem! well we seem to be getting a sana'a cafe soon but Hurry Uppppp please. the cashiers are really nice, i got the adeni chai and it was delightful! they also had pastries but i had to hold myself back..... its a close walk from the moscone center too which is great' not a lot of seating if you're looking to study and the acoustics are not great in case you wanted to catch up with someone (super noisy when it's busy even though the space is small ish) read more
Only leaving this review for the desserts because I don't remember how the drinks tasted like (I didn't order the drinks for myself). While the flavors and textures of the Dubai chocolate cheesecake were really good, the cheesecake filling tasted way too much like cream cheese. I love cream cheese, but I don't think it complements the flavors so well in this application. I do want to try the same cheesecake again at some point, honestly, just to see if I get a better batch next time. I came here with a group of coworkers, and we all thought the chocolate baklava square was a pass. The bee bites were great!! Hoping to come by some time for a longer experience where I can order tea. read more
Came here after seeing raving reviews about this place. I love that this place opens late into the night serving strong teas and desserts! We tried the Yemeni coffee and the Adeni Chai and the chai was so good; I had to order it again two days later! The tea was bold with strong cardamom taste. I loved it without sugar! We also ordered the pistachio cheesecake and it was also delicious! I would come back every week just for the chai!! read more

Came to Sana'a Cafe after a trip to the SF MoMA. It's a nice, small Yemeni cafe with seating and good wifi. I decided to order a Matcha Latte, which was alright. Not the best I've had but also not the worst. They have a wide selection of desserts and pastries that all looked delicious. I also decided to order a Biscoff Cheesecake slice, priced at $8.50. The cheesecake was delicious and a lot creamier/thicker than other cheesecakes I've had. It almost reminded me of a toffee flavor/consistency. The man working the register said that there were no nuts but there must've been some cross contamination since my boyfriend got a slight allergic reaction. read more

Great cafe. The croissant is toasted!!! First time that happened. It's an interesting cafe with darkened and intimate interior. I ordered Cappuccino which was also very nice like the buttery croissant. read more
very spacious and well decorated! I love this place because it's one of the best cafes that are open late in the area. the ambiance is well unified with the yemeni style and the coffee is also strong! I love the little couch section towards the back of the cafe. it's great for a medium to large party. i've also had the baklava which is super moist and sweet- definitely on the sweeter side which I enjoy but I know that's not for everyone. overall great vibes for studying- usually quiet or lightly busy; never a disturbance! my backup spot whenever I can't seem to find a place I like! read more
We were walking by on a Sunday before heading to the MOMA and decided to try this place. We ordered some coffee and dessert. The place had plenty of options. We decided to try the pistachio dessert, which was like a tres leches. And the Dubai chocolate cheesecake. We paired these with an iced cold brew and iced latte. Everything was really good and the ambiance was nice, you feel like you're in the Middle East with the decor and pics on the wall. The pistachio dessert was our favorite. It wasn't too heavy and had a nice hint of pistachio. The Dubai Cheesecake was good, but VERY rich...so both desserts were a nice balance. Overall, we really enjoyed this place. read more
I went to this Yemeni coffee shop in the city before work early in the morning. The cafe was spacious and had a lot of charm. I ordered an iced chai with oat milk. The chai was delicious. One of the best chais I've ever had. I was there at 7am and was not really hungry. I ordered a chocolate croissant which was flakey. It was good. Next time I want to try the baklava or one of the cakes. I will be back! read more

Met a friend here who recommended the location. Hard to find parking, but I got lucky a block away as it was 6 pm and traffic was in flux. My friend ordered while I went to the bathroom. There is only one bathroom and ofc someone was using it. When I met up at the table, there were one each of a cafe latte, green tea latte, pistachio cake slice and a baklava. The colors together were beautiful. Now for the taste. I chose the matcha latte. It was a bit gritty (having done tea ceremony, that's not unusual), unsweetened (normal) and better piping hot, but we chatted so much our drinks cooled. It was an okay drink. Pistachio cake was lightly sweet, a distinctive green and pleasant flavor. Hard to taste pistachio though. Baklava was ofc sweet, nicely crunchy and probably a better pairing with the cafe latte than the matcha. The cafe latte was decaf and my friend said it was good. The place is a bit noisy when full. Overall it's a good enough meeting point but okay for noshing. Sorry no pix - too busy chatting! read more

We've had great experiences at other places specializing in Yemeni coffee in SF, and decided to come to this cafe and check it out. I was feeling something plain and ordered an iced oat milk latte. Meanwhile, my friend ordered an iced chai latte. The latte I ordered tasted very dark and was not as milky as I usually like my lattes to be. My friend's chai latte was okay, but a little too sweet and cinnamon-y for me. We both came to do some work, and the environment is great for that. There is a clean restroom and public wifi around (not sure if it belongs to this cafe or not). The inside is also pretty quiet, with only a few conversations going on. There are also many outlets, and we tried a couple, but they did not work for us. The hours here are great! They're open from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays, which makes this place a gem for those who need to get work done past typical working hours. read more
