While I do love their drinks, I took off a star because they charge Extra for milk alternatives....as someone with lactose intolerance, this feels discriminatory. Extremely disappointed after coming here for the first time this past weekend. From a design aspect: The store is incredibly small and cramped-the decor literally looked like it was designed by a male. Dark colored walls and just an off-putting environment. The name "APE" literally should have been my first sign that it just wasn't gunna be my vibe. But anyway the girl taking my order had an off vibe, she spoke super slowly and was unfriendly when I asked what the dairy free options were. I ended up order a matcha with oat milk and it look over 10 minutes for it to be ready. I didn't try it until i was halfway down the street in my car since I was in a rush but it was made with whole milk!! What a hidden gem! The espresso flavor is outstanding. I came for the first time a couple of days ago and had to come back again today. I've had the brown sugar iced latte and the monkey business iced specialty drink with a warmed Almond croissant. Absolutely delicious. The croissant is nice and crisp and flaky on the outside and soft and flavorful on the inside. While ai was there, a staff member offered a sample taste of a ham and cheese croissant dish they were testing out. That also was delicious! I hope they bring it to the menu. The location itself is a smaller interior with seating outside on a covered portico outside the shop. There is a little refrigerated section for grab and go options as well as some yummy sounding food items on the lunch menu. The staff was very friendly both times I went. Service was great and we found seating right away. However, there's not a ton of seats available. Just 4 tables I believe. I got a matcha latte and an egg sandwich. The matcha latte was made with ceremonial matcha, whole milk, and had a banana cream top. Very good drink. The sandwich was good but I wouldn't go out of my way to order it again. Parking is much easier and the wait is shorter compared to their Orange location. The inside is sleek and tiny with really friendly service. After going to the Ape Coffee location in Orange, which was amazing, I needed more coffee from this place, so I visited this location. Ordered a banana iced coffee. Amazing. Iced coffee with a banana chip, cream and cinnamon. I was done drinking it before I was home. Great iced coffee and the staff there was great and helped me navigate the menu. Seriously never was interested in banana coffee until I had it at Ape Coffee. I have been here a few times now. Their Monkey Business ALWAYS consistent. I've really enjoyed all of their coffee drinks -- they're consistently good. The matcha just isn't my favorite, but that's personal preference. Service is always quick and efficient, which I appreciate. This coffee shop is in a relatively large plaza surrounded by other businesses. They have some outdoor seating, no indoor seating as the shop is pretty quaint. The tiramisu latte with almond milk has been by favorite thus far, but you really can't go wrong with the drinks. Intimate dark gray moody coffee spot with no seating inside, but 4 cafe tables outside on their "patio" (which is basically a wide concrete sidewalk by the parking lot). You can order at the register, at a kiosk inside, or online. I ordered a basic hot vanilla with an extra double shot. I'd give it a 3 out of 5. I went ape for coffee after the drink I had! I ordered the monkey business and the incredible matcha, the monkey business was delicious and blended perfectly with the coffee and banana cold foam! The staff was very friendly and patient with me! I did not get to try the matcha but I heard it was delicious. One thing I would recommend is for the banana garnish on these drinks to be either sliced fresh banana or a dehydrated banana. They put a banana chip which is much harder and does not absorb the liquid. I also love the dark aesthetic and the theme!! I am excited to come back and hopefully get some merch soon! I've run out of new coffee places to try in the Fullerton/Brea/Placentia area so I decided to risk it and try Ape Coffee out once again. I'm not a fan of banana drinks because of the artificial flavor but a coworker of mine has been raving about it and since it's a crowd favorite, I wanted to give it another shot. Here's what I ordered: **Monkey Business: Loved the strength and flavor of the espresso. I loved the subtle honey flavor. The banana cream was delicious because it tasted like actual banana and nothing artificial. The presentation was aesthetically pleasing with the banana chip on top. (5/5) **Incredible Ape Matcha: Like the above drink, the banana cream and subtle honey flavor was nice. However, the matcha portion itself lacked depth. The drink started off sweet and then watered down very quickly as I stirred it. (3/5) **Almond Croissant: I opted not to get it heated up because I was taking it home anyways. The pastry was flaky and very soft but the sweet filling was way too much for my liking. Definitely a must for all you people with sweet tooths. (3.5/5) Service was pleasant. There's a self-ordering kiosk available to the left and a person manning the cash register on the right side. Place is extremely small and not enough room for people to be waiting inside. It was quite busy this morning but the drinks came out fairly quickly. I've seen prior reviews about people complaining about drinks being set down without names being called but I had quite the opposite and better experience. I have my personal preferences for coffee in the immediate area but if I'm ever craving a decent cup of coffee with a delicious banana cream then I'll be back. This location is fairly close to home and the park I frequently walk at so that's a plus. Despite the small interior, there are several tables available for outside seating. I was in the area for a play date & realized I was close to the new location & stopped in. This spot is super small, and you order at a kiosk or with the cashier. There wasn't a long wait but the group in front of me ordered food & drinks so it did take longer to wait at the kiosk. I ordered the viral banana matcha latte & I was pretty disappointed. I don't know if there was something with their water they used to whisk the matcha or their ice machine but something tasted super off. I got a weird aftertaste after sipping the drink & I couldn't figure out why it tasted so off. It could have also been the matcha powder that was used but it was very off putting. I had already left the area so I wasn't able to go back to get the drink remade. I've been going to different spots the last few years trying different matchas in the OC & this was probably one of the most disappointing experiences especially due to this particular drink being very hyped up. The banana bread was absolutely delicious- couldn't snag a picture because I was too excited to eat it! The latte was okay for me - the coffee taste was stronger than my liking. I remember attending their first location opening and loving their gorilla toast and creative coffee creations. You can imagine how excited I was to see another pop up so close to me! This new shop is more of a stop and go with some outdoor seating in front. I really like how they kept to their modern, dark, New York-esque interior decor. Right when I walked in, I was greeted by probably the sweetest and friendliest staff. Looking over their menu, it seems that they added some new items. The Black Sugar Hojicha caught my eye so I knew I had to get that one. I also got the Incredible Ape Matcha Latte and the Crookie. The Incredible Ape Matcha Latte was my favorite item here. The banana cream on top of the matcha was so good! It wasn't overly sweet with a nice subtle banana flavor, and the matcha was well balanced and not bitter. The crookie was decadent and not to mention, gigantic! I've had a handful of hojicha (black sesame tea) drinks in the past, but it seems like the one here has a very strong coffee flavor, or maybe my drink was mixed up. In retrospect, I probably should have tried the drink before getting home so I could have asked them about it. Overall, I'm super glad to see them opening up a second location. Wow I liked this place so much I went here twice in one day! I first stopped by in the morning to try the Incredible Ape Matcha Latte (matcha with a banana cold foam drizzled with honey), and it was delicious! They use real bananas in the cold foam, and the texture of the foam is thicker in general. So good! The second time I came back was in the afternoon with my partner and he also got the Incredible Ape. I got the Sunset Ape (strawberry milk with matcha cold foam) and we loved that the cold foam held onto the matcha flavor strongly while the strawberry milk was a nice complement to the matcha flavors.
