I was so-so impressed with this establishment. Cute, cozy quiet casual atmosphere inside, perfect for a date night. My experience started off positive. Arrived right at opening and half the tables were already occupied. Good sign, right? I was sat immediately and greeted by a friendly professional staff who was on point throughout the meal. Offered suggestions and was knowledgable about the menu. Homemade hummus and toasties came right out. Delicious!!! Per Yelp suggestions and photos I ordered the salmon platter with the village salad. The house soup came out first and was absolutely amazing!!! I would come back just for the soup!!! Village salad to me is a traditional Greek salad, NO lettuce. While the salad was very good, it was a bit misleading. The salmon platter was mixed reviews. The grilled veggies and polenta were incredible. The salmon was mediocre at best. It was literally like a frozen piece of salmon fillet over baked and covered with a tasty glaze. Bottom line, frozen and over-baked. Not per the other reviews. This is one of the nicest restaurants in Appleton. The food is great - they have a fairly small menu, and they do everything really well. (The soup is the BEST.) The atmosphere is cozy and romantic, and the service is - well, not typical Appleton service. So your waiter will be, like, a real waiter who is knowledgeable and professional, and not someone my cousins go to high school with. Neat, huh? Seriously, though, this is a great place for a special occasion or a nice date, and it's one of the few places in town where you won't feel weird if you dress up for dinner. The only downside is the parking - there isn't any, and in Appleton that's always hard for people to accept. But it's right across the street from the library, with its giant lot, and metered parking here is sooo cheap. Plus, last time I checked, the cost of an expired meter ticket was $7, so, hey, still cheaper than parking anywhere in Chicago. read more

This is the best restaurant in the Fox Valley. The chef is very talented at infusing everything with exceptional flavors. The waitstaff is also very attentive and friendly. My book club meets here fairly often - they always accommodate with a nice side room and large table. The menu has something to please everyone. Here is where they really stand out - every time I go, the chef creates an amazing one-of-a-kind vegan meal just for me. That is the sign of a truly talented chef! This is a fantastic place! We came here for our combined birthday. We started with the crab cakes...light and flavorful. Both meals came with egg lemon soup and Greek salads which were excellent. I had the ribeye steak which was prepared perfectly and was quite flavorful. The Greek potatoes were a bit dry for my taste but ok. As the other reviewers have said, this restaurant is great for a nice date or a special occasion. I've only been there twice, but both times have been fantastic. I'm a very picky eater, yet I can find things on the menu that I really like. I especially enjoyed the flaming cheese appetizer. The atmosphere is great, and the painted murals on the walls are a nice touch. It is rather small, so I suggest a reservation. I've never had to wait for a table, and the service is excellent. The waiters are friendly and knowledgeable. It is a little pricey, but you get what you pay for--definitely worth it. I'm sure we'll be going back again! read more

Best food I've honestly experienced in all of Appleton so far. Was very nice and quiet, Kelly took amazing care of us and took the time to explain what everything was to us. My boyfriend and I both got the stuffed shrimp and it was the perfect amount of food. The shrimp was fresh, and delicious however I have to say my favorite part of the whole meal was the starting soup. It really set the pace for the whole meal! I've been going to Apollon since I was a kid. I was best friends with the owner's son, and we frequented the restaurant while his dad worked. Sadly, at the time, I refused to eat the actual food on the menu, and would ask for hamburgers. What. A. Mistake. Since my tastebuds have matured, while living away from appleton, I've been back a few times to order off the menu. Let me tell you: this rivals almost anything I've ordered in more cosmopolitan cities. I've eaten vegetarian entrees here. I've eaten seafood. I've eaten both steak and lamb. I have never been disappointed. The food is delicious, and there's a wealth of wine selections that pair well with the food, regardless of taste preferences; as a bit of a wine enthusiast, I've been pleased, and there's always been something for my less wine-savvy guests. The service is great, and Stavros, the owner, is amazing at guest relations. The last time I visited, I saw him visit a handful of tables, and remembered each guest he talked to. I thoroughly enjoyed both the food and ambiance here. On our recent trip to WI my husband and I decided to have "just us" dinner, and after considering several options, we ultimately decided on Apollon. I would say that the food here is not necessarily the traditional Greek food, but instead would be more of a Mediterranean/Greek fusion. We did not have a reservation, although the restaurant was relatively full for a week night. We took this as a good sign. The server was friendly, but was no where near as refined as what we are use to here in Vegas (spilled water all over the table, left the wine cork in the middle of the table, etc) when it comes to more upscale dining. Above mentioned criticisms are ultimately nit picking because overall she did her job and was very friendly and attentive enough. We started off with an appetizer of Kalamarakia (squid steak) which I (wrongly) assumed would be something akin to calamari. I was pleasantly surprised and glad I was wrong. They were tender pieces of marinated squid sliced and slightly charred with a side of tzatziki sauce. I found the sauce unnecessary as the dish itself was extremely flavorful and the sauce did not add anything to it. I opted for the Mixed Grille as my entree. The dish consisted of lamb tenderloins with balsamic demi glaze, shrimp and scallops in lobster gorgonzola cheese sauce. It was served with a side of wild rice and steamed vegetables. Everything was cooked to perfection, fresh and tasted fantastic. The portion was huge and I was able to allow my husband to sample large portion of the dish. My husband had their special of the day which consisted of fish in some type of sauce. I was too busy enjoying my dish and in comparison his tasted bland therefore I did not try more than a couple of bites. He seemed to enjoy it and that's all that matters. We also shared a bottle of their wine of the month "Veramonte" which is a red blend with a hint of spice. It complemented our dishes quite nicely and did not break the bank to boot. When we got the check I was shocked at how reasonable it was. A meal of this caliber would have been at least 50-60% more expensive in Las Vegas. We were thoroughly impressed with the quality of food presented and ambiance in which we indulged. I would highly recommend. read more

This has become one of our favorite restaurants in Appleton. The food here is authentic and unique. Service was helpful, the atmosphere was perfect. The price leans towards the high side, but you definitely get what you pay for. The meal portions are perfect, just the right amount! I have not had a bad meal there yet! A++ every time! Keep in mind that dinner is a 3-course event. You will start with the soup course which is an unforgettable steamy lemon dream all its own, follow soup with a salad served with 2 house inspired dressings, and the entrée is complimented with bright vegetables and creamy risotto. Also on the table is fresh bread from scratch and hummus. I have yet to find sufficient room for desert but somehow manage enough for a port because I don't want the night to end. The service is impeccable and it is truly a dining experience that you will remember and want to go back to. Don't let the "Greek" about Greek restaurant fool you. I have brought friends and family here that were wondering what they would order or what they would like at a "Greek" place and were more than amazed after dining here. Now, this is the best place to go for a steak of all things! Also would recommend the feta chicken for those not ready to dive into a more adventurous lamb dish. For those ready, hands down I say the lamb tenderloins with the Champagne saffron sauce. This is what I keep coming back for. It is what I can't get away from. Not worth it. The good wasn't bad but for me and my wife we were there over two hours, most of that we were waiting for our main course. We did get lucky and get a table with no reservation even though it was a middle of the weekday night. Prices were what you would expect but a little high for the quality. On a 1 to 10 scale, easily a 10. Make sure you make a reservation though as this place is not very big and they have a very loyal group of patrons as well more won over every day. My wife and I being 2 of them. I will say this though. A couple came in without a reservation and the place was full up but, the maître d' told them if they'd be willing to wait about 45 minutes at a bar in the area he would give them a call about 10 minutes before a table was about to open. I was very impressed by that level of customer service. (That couple was seated at a table when we were leaving). Now a little about the food. The menu is not very big. There are not 100 different things to choose from. Which in this case means, great detail is paid to each entre. From the dishes we were served and the others served around us, we saw nothing but expert attention to detail. It was delicious and appealing to the eye. Any full description of an entre would take up too much time to type with one finger on an iPad but let me just say this... Amazing! I've never had Lamb Tenderloin, but I can't imagine this tasting any better, anywhere. Take all these reviews seriously. This place really does deliver and I can't wait to try something new here. On a weekend getaway with the wife we spent our night in appleton. Exploring the city, shopping and of course eating. When we looked for a great restaurant for dinner, Apollon just rose above all others. We were truly excited. And we were not dissappointed. The food is amazing. The service outstanding. And the portions - huge over multiple courses of soup, salad and entree. Even the bread was fantastic! We had the saganaki appetizer. Yummy. I had the grouper dinner and it was flavorful and beatuiful on the plate. They really now how to plate this great food! My only advice is come hungry. You will not be dissappointed. We got in no problem after making a reservation about 30 minutes before dining. Place was full, but tables were turning so everyone is not waiting too long. A well run establishment. Best restaurant in the area! Perfect service - always there without being intrusive. The atmosphere is very comfortable; upscale without feeling stuffy or pretentious. While the wine list offers a nice variety of moderately priced Greek wines, the food is the star. Homemade hummus, lemon soup, and kalamaraki are a great start. Get the lamb or seafood - any of them! You will leave stuffed and smiling! I came to The Apollon for Mother's Day with my family. The service was perfect, the atmosphere was nice and semi formal. The best part of my experience was the food and interior design of the resturant. I lived in Athens Greece for a few months and recently came back home to Appleton. My lamb saffron was just as good as I had in Greece! Also, the design and murals painted inside the resturant brought me back to Oia Santorini. Overall, great night at Apollon.
