Though the view is to die for on the patio, and the drinks and food are fantastic, the service is awful. I have tried again and again at this place, every time I hope will be different. Each time I sit with an empty glass for at least 10-15 minutes. Trying to flag down a server is almost impossible and half of the time it seems their m.o. is to have attitude. the bar, hotel, and view, all looked excellent. however, i am giving this rating because as i sat at the bar, the tender politely informed me that he was too busy focused on other orders, and suggested i sit at a table outside to order from the waiter. the nan was very nice, but when somebody sits down at your business, you simply dont say youre too busy for them there. you acknowledge them and let them know youll be with them as quickly as possible. secondly, i sat outside and enjoyed a mist beautiful sunset, cityscape, and tasteful music, but the waiter must have walked by me 5-6 times during my 20 minutes there without even so much as looking at me. im quite sure i dont look like im a ruffian, poaching the scenery, i was quite intent on purchasing a drink or three. it was not busy whatsoever. this is simply unacceptable. i shall return, in next time, and hopefully the staff will be recognize me as a patron. until then, 2 stars. read more

Before I start, I should concede that my husband and I travel regularly to visit some of the best cocktail bars in the country, and our home bar is better stocked than just about every bar we've been to in Albuquerque. Sadly, while Apothecary Lounge has a cool vibe and an interesting location, their drinks are kind of like the majority of wedding cakes - they look amazing, but leave you wondering what someone did with the flavor. If I'm paying their prices for drinks, I expect really good cocktails, and so far, the only decent one I've ever had has been a Moscow Mule, which, let's be honest, doesn't really count it's so easy. We've tried going quite a few times, and now it has been sadly relegated to a place either of us would only go to if someone else were insisting. The drinks are overly sweet and often unbalanced. I understand that Albuquerque isn't on the cutting edge of anything, but there is so much opportunity here, but it just falls short. read more

I went to dinner with my mother the other night and I was very delighted with everything. They have many different choices of beverages, as well as a delicious plate, containing crackers, cheese, and almonds. The staff was very friendly and attentive. If you're thinking about enjoying a nice, relaxing dinner, you must go to the Apothecary Lounge. The best part about all of it was the view from the very top. There's seating outside on super comfortable cushions, and it is absolutely perfect at sunset. read more

I drive by this hotel everyday only way to work, so I watched the rebuild happen. Finally it opened and it looked great. It was my wifes bday, so we decided to check out the rooftop bar. It was a Saturday night so I expected them to be busy, but wow... Parking SUCKED. We had to park on the street and walk in. The lobby feels a little cramped because of the low ceilings, but I'm guessing that is just because it's an old structure. The bathrooms were very nice and clean in the lobby. We had to wait in line to get to the rooftop barn because it was "at capacity". we ended up waiting about 20 min, and some tools cut in line in front of us. When we got up there, there was hardly anyone there. We went outside and got a table. The view is great. Our server was nice and friendly. The drinks SUCKED and they were WAY over-priced. After learning that 2 times, I just got a $5.50 marble IPA. Overall, the bar was cool to visit, but not going to be a regular stop for me read more

When I found out the old hospital was being turned into a hotel I was thrilled. I was hoping that some of the historical charm would be restored. It wasn't. That was my first disappointment. I ordered a $11 cocktail that turned out to be mostly ice with not much else except a wilted orchid. Disapponted again. Finally I thought I'd try the fish tacos. Final disappointment. Three tiny tortillas with what tasted like unseasoned tuna out of a can. I won't go back!! read more

Went to Apothecary for a Bachelorette party last night (on a Wednesday) and was completely disappointed in the experience. Had gone last week to scope the spot with a friend and see how the service and food were. Had great food, however the server was gone for 30 minutes between every time she'd come by and I had to ask for water 3 times before she would refill. The food was so good that this didn't deter me... yet. Went yesterday and at 6pm (SIX PM) the server told me we couldn't order food because the kitchen is small and they're backed up. The patio was closed and only about 5 tables were sat inside so I don't know how this could be true. We waited for the egg rolls (they said they had 1 order left) for an hour before the server told us they weren't coming out. The server never apologized for the inconvenience and how does a RESTAURANT not have enough cooks for 5 tables? Also out of most wines. Definitely will not be going back, which is too bad considering the view. Would not recommend for events. read more

The view is undeniable. If you can get there before the sun sets (but not too long before the sun sets or you'll just be roasting in the sun), and if you can get a table, this is a fantastic place to spend an evening. It is definitely worth a trip. However, the menu is very limited and basically everything was cold by the time we got it. It didn't bother us too much, though, because we had already ordered a few of their specialty cocktails by then. The cocktails are all very intriguing and I found myself looking a lot of ingredients up on my phone, but we found a few of them were odd in some way (either flavorless or bitter/medicinal). The best one of the variety we ordered was probably the prickly pear margarita (I forget the name they gave it -- all the drinks have special names). Perusing the cocktail menu is an activity in itself, and I certainly plan to go back and taste some more. I did learn that absinthe is not great in cocktails, and I'd warn you away from those despite how exciting they sound. read more

My wife and I love getting dressed up and going to this place for special occasions. It's located on the top floor/roof of the hotel, which gives it a nice esoteric feel. The drinks and atmosphere and service are all 5 stars. It's a little pricey, which is the only reason I gave 4 stars... though the cost is worth the quality (fine I'll go back to 5 stars). read more

Five stars for the view from the patio. Inside is... meh. Prices are a bit upscale ($16 for Macallan 12) and drink selection is on the smallish side (no Macallan 18 that I saw). Go on a sunny afternoon and chill with friends. It's in the Parq Hotel, so dressy will get you more attention. I went to this bar on a Friday night to enjoy a few drink with friends. The view is magnificent. All the tables and chairs were occupied. When we finally sat and ordered drinks, it took 20 minutes to get them! The waitress was disorganized and didn't know if some of the drinks on their menu were not available. She never checked on us. It also took 20 minutes to get the check. Too bad but service was extremely poor in such a pretty place. We won't go back again because of the poor service. read more

Went to Apothecary for a friend's birthday right after work. No happy hour specials, drinks were $12 each. I had a glass of chardonnay, but you'd have thought it was a fine brandy, that's how little wine they put in the glass -- for $12. Same price as the mixed drinks, which were NOT generously sized. If this had been NYC or LA, I would not have minded, but here in ABQ there are far better places to grab a drink with friends and not break the bank. The service wasn't great and a 20% gratuity was tacked on for five people, even though the most the server had to do was clean up beer he spilled and a glass the wind blew over. The rooftop patio has no shade, so this isn't a great place to gather after work. I can't imagine who in Albuquerque would actually go to this place regularly. The owners are from Santa Fe, and it shows in the prices and the over-stylized yet non-functional decor. read more

I am very biased because my husband and I stayed at the hotel and had the best experience of our life. When we were encouraged to try the bar on the rooftop while the sunset I felt I may had died and gone to heaven. I was convinced of that after sampling EVERY martini on the menu. I could not stop. The drinks are decorated beautifully, perfectly blended and they even give you coasters with the recipes! We sampled the antipasto platter, the mussels, and the sliders. Absolutely divine. We stayed at the hotel two nights and ate at the Apothecary Bar both nights. We had the same waitress both nights who remembered us and was fantastic. The place was busy but everyone seemed to run like well oiled machine. I regret not knowing about this place sooner in my life and would love for the brand to open in Phoenix. The restaurant, hotel, service, food, ambiance, drinks etc... are seriously a memory you will cherish for the rest of your life. read more

We went to apothecary for the second time (the first time was four years ago), it was our anniversary (6/16) and also my aunts 60th birthday. My husband and I got there just before 9pm after we went to dinner to celebrate our anniversary, most of the group who went to celebrate my aunt had left, only 6-8 were left. My husband flagged down a waiter for a drink and was told to order from our waitress or at the bar, he went inside and waited at the bar for 10 minutes until the bartender was done flirting away only to be advised he had to order from our waitress.. He came back outside, we waited another 10-20 minutes to order. When I ordered a vodka 7 I had to explain to the waitress what that was, and I made sure to ask for limes to garnish. She walked away and I had to flag her down for my husband to order, I finally just ordered him the same thing as to not further fluster the waitress, who wasn't very busy. It's 930 by the time I order, drinks come out at 10pm, SERIOUSLY 10pm! She brings our drinks and I ask for limes for the drinks (again), she brings those at 1015 and advises us she is going to call last call shortly.. By this time we've been in your establishment for at least ONE HOUR AND FIFTEEN MINUTES and just received our completed drink! My mom asks to pay for our drinks and the waitress brings her the bill which has food and drinks that she and my dad nor my husband and I ordered, so now my mom had to pay for items we didn't have as well as a gratuity for less than poor service, we won't be back. Disorganization at its finest, she said she wasn't sure who the leftover items were from but that she wasn't going to pay for it out of her check.. Ooh, and on top of it, my brother got grief from her for ordering a second beer (he was there for three hours), she wanted to make sure he was going to Über rather than drive, he didn't finish his second beer and left in favor of a different establishment. What a beautiful disaster, an absolutely beautiful establishment with an unwelcoming sub-par and inattentive staff. I think I've written less than 6 reviews on Facebook and this is my first on Yelp but I felt compelled to not only let you all know that you're allowing the gem of this rooftop bar to tarnish but also to inform others who may be thinking they're in for a treat know that they should try another place. read more

Three things make this place great:1. great selection of truly interesting craft cocktails. Enough said there. 2. Their manager (Kadija? Kadisha?). One of our best friends has full blown celiac disease and there are a lot of places she cannot eat at because the staff will discount her disease as yuppie food fadisim and she ends up getting sick. However the manager at Apothecary takes her customer care so seriously that she comes out personally to explain what drinks and food on the menu will be safe for her to eat/drink! I've seen her come out on multiple occasions to ensure specific needs are met. 3. They recently added some wonderful string lights to the outdoor area and it is fantastic! They atmosphere and better lighting after dark. They would get a five from me, but they have a mix of fantastic and not good servers. On another occasion friend ordered a specific scotch. The serving girl brought an upgraded scotch without asking, because the other scotch was out. She should have asked OR should have brought the upgraded scotch for the other price. But if you get one of their great serves you will have a 5 star experience. read more
