Spend your money at 10 Prime or save your money and eat anywhere else on the mountain. We ordered several different menu items... the only good item was the scallops. The filet and the sauce was equivalent to what I would expect to find from a Golden Corral. Seriously, Outback is 5 star compared to this restaurant. Very much regret wasting money there. We went our first night and our last night to Appalachia Kitchen. Our first night, the rolls were great, scallops outstanding... my little one enjoyed her pasta. Our last night the food wasn't consistent... the rolls this time were different and hard, like so hard you couldn't bite them. The noodles in my little ones pasta was different and had big tomatoes. Also, we called to make a reservation and the voicemail said they were not taking reservations. When we got there they told us at the front they still haven't updated their voicemail so we had to wait 30 or so minutes. Overall... we tried almost every restaurant and this one by far was the best. Try the scallops, Brussels, venison soup, or the meatloaf. read more

We dined here for Christmas Eve, and what started out nicely ended poorly. Everything was progressing through cocktails, appetizers and salads and then our server disappeared for an extended period of time, almost 20 minutes. When we inquired we felt like we'd inconvenienced the other staff. We got no explanation, like "sorry, there's a huge party in the bar and it slowed down the kitchen." When we got our meals they were inconsistent. 2 guests had the venison meatloaf and the potions were much smaller that this of tables around us. My husband's pork chop was a terrible cut, practically raw and inedible. No one inquired or we'd have made out feelings known. So much potential but no execution. read more

Great atmosphere. Good service. Food was delicious. A gem at snowshoe. Caesar salads were great. Ny strip was flavorful. We also had the roasted chicken and the roasted Brussels sprouts risotto. Everything was delicious. We are going back on this trip. Expensive but worth it. read more

Food was exceptional. The scallops and cutting board appetizers were amazing. We had pork chops which were very tender and juicy as well as the filet mignon. For dessert, we enjoyed a créeme brûlée, and brownie which were outstanding. The Atmosphere on the second floor and waitress were awesome. read more

One of the best filet mignon I ever had if not the best! Ambiance was that of a Hotel Conference. Disappointing but food was great.

I was pretty underwhelmed with my experience here. My boyfriend and I were staying at the curdoroy inn so we made reservations here. I ordered my steak medium well and was presented with a medium rare steak. The quality of the meat was also very poor for how expensive it was. read more

Nice intimate setting, with wonderful food. I had the Trout, and others had Shrimp & Grits, or Scallops. The service was very good and food arrived quickly and all was hot and tasty. One person. March 12, 2018. Fine dining of any kind at a resort is hard to come by. Fresh, locally sourced foods, are even more scarce. Putting these together with good service at reasonable prices is very hard. Appalachia Kitchen tries to do it all but come up short. I want to be fair. I want to be nice. But I was not thrilled by my experience. I would not come back. For those who want a quick read; one glass of wine, one cup of soup, trout dinner, apple desert, and a glass of port: $59. With tip, $71. One cover. The corn and shrimp gumbo (?) was a tasty appetizer but nothing special. The trout was prepared well. The planko crust was applied too liberally and overwhelmed the fish. There was no leek hash that I could see. The potatoes were not fingerlings. The carrots (two) were undercooked but fresh and real carrots. But again, the fish was good once I scraped off half the coating. A bus driver recommended the apple cobbler. Do we trust bus drivers? He was right, it was the highlight of the meal The distinct taste of honey made it through. The accompanying cobbler topping was light and a perfect accompaniment to the caramelized apples. I was looking for fine dining. Unfortunately I did not find it. read more

We have had the opportunity to enjoy the "AK" while hosting a team dinner of 24! The service CANNOT BE BEAT! Monica never missed a beat, drinks flowed, food delivered warm, every request was delivered with the upmost of care! Monica, you are a class act! The Beef stroganoff... wow. It was a special on one of the evenings we dinned, amazing! Tender beef, creamy, flavorful gravy, wide, delicious noodles. Amazing. My husbands steak was perfection as well as other in our group. The appetizers: Mac and cheese balls, fried to Golden crisp, great! Don't sleep on the bone marrow, not what I expected, meaty, cheesy spread of sorts, yum. The brownie dessert. Holy cow. This place is a very good place for ski resort restaurant. Considered that most of Ski resort place, their restaurants in general are quite bad. Appalachia Kitchen give you quite a bit of selections, plus some quite tasting food with southern cooking favor. The pork chop and shrimp dishes we have ordered are very good, pork chop was cooked just right. The shrimps and grits are delicious as well. read more

This may be the best restaurant that I have ever eaten in. I had steak while my wife had shrimp and grits. Lots of other great looking choices on menu. The best steak I have ever eaten. Cooked perfect. Came with delicious scollop potatoes and vegetable sides. I have never had vegetables that tasted that good. Our waiter was also very helpful (he had tried everything on the menu). Desert was a bread pudding that was to die for. FYI - I seldom give 5 star reviews so I mean every word of this review. read more

We were told this was the best restaurant in Snowshoe and it did not disappoint! Their food was incredible, creative and prepared perfectly. We also loved seeing where the food was sourced because a lot of it came from where we did (Garrett County, MD). Service was a little slow but our server was apologetic and genuine about the issues - I think our server was more upset about it than us! Totally recommend!!!!! read more

Absolutely awful! The Tomahawk steak which was over $100 was not even cooked close to what we ordered. Then we politely asked the waiter to send the steak back when he offered, our new steak never came out. Our whole table finished their dinner and still no meal. After that, we asked for the bill and they charged us! needless to say we sent the bill back and they still charged us over $100!! horrible management and food quality! Haven't eaten at the restaurant, but usually go to the bar area above. Always good food. It is a little expensive, but it is at the Snowshoe Resort. Sometimes the service is slow because it is so busy and there aren't many restaurants at the resort. The food and drinks are excellent. They also have their own pizza restaurant and I love it. It is kind of expensive for what you get, though. read more

On our wedding anniversary trip to Snowshoe, my husband and I wanted to treat ourselves to a fantastic meal to celebrate. We made a fantastic choice by choosing Appalachia Kitchen. The wait staff for our dinner was amazing. Everett saw to our every need while still allowing us to enjoy our meal. He made excellent recommendations and was very knowledgeable about the entire menu. We started off our meal with the mac and cheese bites (divine). My husband had a cup of black bean chili, and I had a starter salad. All was fantastic. For our entrees, we chose the meatloaf and the pork chop. Normally, both of those items would solicit a "meh" from diners. Not this time. The pork chop was incredibly tender and flavorful. The meatloaf was decadent and savory without being too heavy. Overall, incredible. We rounded out the evening with a cup of coffee as well as a coffee cocktail. Both of them hit the spot! Feeling stuffed and delighted, we waddled back to our suite in the Corduroy Inn. Don't miss out on this gem during your next trip to Snowshoe! You definitely will not be disappointed. read more

Was in Snowshoe for skiing and wanted a nice, sit down restaurant. The ambiance is nice and the staff, including our waiter Ryan, were friendly and helpful. We ordered the mussels and the beet salad to start. They were both tasty and good portions. They even split the salad in hand for us. We ordered their duck special and the Gorgonzola strip steak. Sadly, we were a little disappointed with both. The steak had too much cheese on it and the meat was tough. The duck special was a little bland and the duck breast was not cooked appropriately wasn't rendered enough. Each entree was okay, but I wish they were a bit better. read more

The food here was cold, flavorless, and overpriced. The venison stew lacked meat and was less than appetizing. Further, we had a curried poulet that was clearly prepared earlier in the day as it too was cold and the accompanying spring roll had dry skin, dry carrots and some form of greenery which I assume was a form of lettuce. We ordered a charcuterie board and the ingredients were what you could find at breakfast (diced raisins and apricots) and at their pizza restaurant (the meats). Very disappointed. read more

The food is always excellent here. We really enjoy the creations the chef comes up with. Very fresh and local and a nice wine selection also. My only reason for not giving it 5 stars is the wait staff all need to wear their masks properly. We have come three times over the summer and always have the same waitress happen to wait on us and her nose is always out of her mask. This makes it uncomfortable for us as customers but awkward to ask her to cover her nose once we have been seated and are ordering. For the winter season management needs to be more strict on enforcing this mandate. read more

First time here so maybe I just got real unlucky. Ordered the halibut with sauce and mashed potatoes. Halibut came out un-sauced, very dry and way, way over salted. This 3oz, nasty piece of fish sat on top of a mound of cold mashed potatoes. All for only $45, which I'll pay for good food at a ski mountain, but this was not. Service was fine. I live in the area and this is one of my favorite places to dine. My family and friends come here for great food and a wonderful dining experience! We always start with the scallops as they are so yummy! Sometimes, my husband also gets them for his entree. My favorite entree was the venison meatloaf which I do still love, until I tried the chicken (I never order chicken)- now it is my favorite! I highly recommend Appalachia Kitchen! read more

The service at this restaurant was wonderful. Accommodating and attentive. The food was ok and the drinks were also just Ok. What's most disappointing is the way the concept is incredibly misleading. All the food served here, in this somewhat pretentious atmosphere, is also served just above it in the cute and more relaxing bar. Farm to table, maybe. But you expect more and it doesn't deliver. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Appalachia Kitchen! The St.Germaine Martini was well balanced and delicious. My boyfriend had the coffee rubbed NY strip and I had the U-10 scallops. Both were prepared and seasoned perfectly. We also highly recommend the crème brûlée. Our sever was attentive and provided excellent customer service. We will absolutely be coming back! read more
