By far the WORST "customer service" I have ever encountered. Not only did I spend all day on the phone with a "genius" I was told my phone was in a certain batch of phones that needs to be sent out to be repaired and I would need to bring it to an apple store. Once at the apple store I was told my phone would need to be sent out for 2 weeks. Lucky for me, they gave me a loaner phone. When I asked for a screen protector or case I was told no. I then spoke to Phil, the manager, who also told me no. So now I am responsible for anything that happens to this loaner phone that I don't even want. When I asked Phil to give my contact information to his manager he refused and gave me the stores e-mail address for me to write and request the manager to call me. Unlike all other Apple stores, THIS Apple store is....minimalist...hipster...and...expensive! ...I mean, what is there to really review about an Apple store? They're all kind of the same to me, but then again I've never had to come in for extensive help. Should I take off a star because I hate that they don't have cash registers because I am a recent Mac convert and find it confusing? No. All I wanted to say is if you are lucky enough to get a parking spot in the circley area that Apple is located in, for whatever reason it is one of the few spots in the area where the parking meters only accept coins, not credit cards, and if you need quarters, for reasons I will never understand because the US no longer supports a $1,000 bill and therefore cash is never used in an Apple store (thus the reason for the lack of cash registers, I suppose) an Apple employee will exchange your dollar bill for quarters. Even if you are not shopping in the store. read more

I have shopped at this location for several years and have noticed a decline in customer service. My most recent experience was downright disappointing. I walked into the store at 8:15 on a Friday night, naively believing/hoping that I could pop in, pick up the item I purchased online, and be on my merry way. Not quite. I had to flag down someone to help me. I was told that someone would be right with me, and then I waited for 10-15 minutes. Meanwhile, I see at least three sales people loafing about. One was even playing on his phone. A sales associate finally took my name and paged the stockroom. I waited another 10 minutes for someone else to pull my order. I cannot imagine what the store is like during a busy period. There must be better Apple stores in the DMV. read more

I'm writing this review to warn others about an apparent policy that Apple Stores have regarding assistance to elderly and disabled people. After spending nearly $2500 on a brand new Apple laptop, my 75-year-old mother took it into the Clarendon Apple store, along with her old Apple computer, to have a transfer of her files performed. Although the store is the closest Apple store to where she lives in the Shenandoah Valley, it is still a 2+ hour drive for her. Accordingly, she made arrangements for a friend, who was planning to be in Arlington for business, to pick up the computers for her. She was assured that store staff would assist her friend in getting the computers to his car, as he is in his 80's and has recently had back surgery. However, when my mother's friend arrived in the store, he was informed that it was against policy to assist him, and had to leave without my mother's computer. My mother followed up with a phone call to the store's manager, Bill, who confirmed that this was indeed store policy. This means that my mother will have to make the long drive in to pick up the computer--which is absolutely ridiculous, since the computer could have been picked up yesterday had store employees been allowed to help get the computers to my mother's friend's vehicle. She will also have to make multiple trips between the store and her car in order to pick up the items, which will be a real hardship for her, given her age and her health. Sadly, my understanding of the retail store complaint procedure is that I have to make a complaint through the store manager, which appears to be a waste of time and energy given that the store manager was completely unconcerned about the implications and impact of the store "policy" for my mother. I knew there was a reason I will never purchase an Apple product, and I have to say that I'm extremely disgusted that my mother, who has over the course of her lifetime probably spent in the neighborhood of $10,000 on Apple products, is receiving such pathetic service. read more

While I have been to other Apple Stores in the Metro area for Apple product purchase and repairs and have been brushed aside and put off, the folks at the Clarendon store were more than welcoming, and went out of their way to accommodate my needs. Not only were they professional, they were also kind and friendly in registering my repair, and taking care of my needs. And while I waited, I chatted with staff and bought more accessories. What could be better? It's a little tricky to find if you are unfamiliar with the area, so park in the Clarendon St. garage and you are right there! Highly recommend!!! read more

I've been to the Clarendon Apple store numerous times, but will never return after my experience with lazy, rude, and unprofessional customer service this afternoon. I came in the store today intending to buy a new iPhone.  The greeter was very confused -- it took him many many questions to finally figure out that we just wanted to actually purchase something at the store.  So then we were put on the list and told someone would come help us shortly.  So we waited.  After about 10 minutes, I went over to a customer service person who was loitering around chatting with coworkers who proceeded to unsuccessfully try to explain why there were at least 8 Apple employees with blue shirts just hanging around the store talking to one another but no one available to sell me an iPhone.  Her explanation was non-sensical and told me to wait until I was called.  I waited another 10 minutes -- just sitting there watching all the employees doing absolutely nothing -- and asked again if someone could please help us.  The same person -- who must be in her early 20s and spoke very disrespectfully to me, a 61-year-old adult -- rudely reiterated that despite all the employees milling around with nothing to do I was to wait my turn.  When I said that was poor customer service she feigned being insulted and told me I should "calm down or leave the store."  I never raised my voice.  She clearly doesn't know the difference between an unsatisfied customer and someone being unruly.  She was extremely patronizing and lucky I didn't actually tell her that.  I should have reminded her of the basic lessons of customer service:  1) the customer is almost always right, and 2) the customer's time is valuable and not to be wasted. She was WAY out of her league and extremely rude. I then said that if Apple didn't want my business I would just go to the Verizon store 2 blocks away. I left the store and went directly to the Verizon store.  The staff there were attentive even when they were helping other customers. There was never a time when staff was just lingering around while customers were waiting for service.  The Verizon staff were helpful, pleasant and professional.  When 1 staff person became confused another immediately stepped in to help him and me out.  The store is small, with a small staff, but they managed to serve multiple people in the same amount of time I wasted standing around waiting for service at the Apple Clarendon store.  I ended up getting a much better deal purchasing an iPhone at Verizon and was impressed with the professionalism of the staff.  Perhaps they should train the Apple store employees on effective customer service.  From now on I will always go to Verizon, and never Apple. read more

I am very grateful for having this store as a resource since it opened almost 20 years ago. The staff is friendly and helpful, and far more knowledgeable than I've ever seen in a tech store. They have been generous in exchanging broken devices on the spot and the flat rate repairs are comprehensive - I.e., replacing the worn keyboard though the problem was something else. Talked to a woman on the phone from this location and she was giving me sass the entire time when I was ONLY trying to clarify if they did walk-ins or not as I had a reservation but was able to go earlier. She then tried to get me to buy through her online when I had repeatedly told her I want to talk to someone in person to make sure I'm buying what I wanted (it's an over 1k investment...) Customer service here sucks ass. Came here to change the battery on my MBP, I was told that I had to wait an hour and fifteen minutes. The woman asked if I would like a text message when they get ready for me. I asked if she could send an iMessage and she replies that their system was not set up for that. I have been in many Apple stores around the world and never had to wait so long and always have received an iMessage or email when they were ready for me. The woman then got rude with me because she said that she needed my phone number in order to send the message. When I told her that I had a foreign number she said, "Oh, no, it has to be an American number." DUH!! They don't ever need to call themselves geniuses. WORST APPLE STORE EVER!!! read more

I liked that this Apple Store wasn't as crazy/chaotic as the Georgetown store. The staff was friendly and quick, by Apple standards. The only downside with Apple is that they once were a uber user-friendly and great place if you had problems with your device but now they will charge you $299 for an iPhone, which had insurance that doesn't cover accidental damage. Then what the hell is insurance for?! Overall this place gets four stars because they were friendly, expedient, and helpful. AND they are much more my pace than the store in Georgetown--which causes me anxiety. and anger. and such. read more

Kicking myself for not backing up my files since last year, I weeped and wailed my way to the Apple Store in Clarendon (after conveniently making a Genius Bar appointment online). I was 15 minutes early but they were able to see me right away. Forcing a smile and holding back my tears, I detailed my woes to Tim, a patient Apple employee. With a flurry of keyboard strokes and the help of Apple's external hard drive, it was mere minutes before Tim said, "Do you recognize these files?" "Yes!!!" I exclaimed, overjoyed. Phew, another mid-20s-life crisis averted. I was still under warranty, so this salvation was free, but I don't know how much it would have cost otherwise. During my time there I spoke to three employees, all of whom were very friendly and helpful. Bonus points to this store for being in a really cute outdoor mall. If you're ever in the area, drop in and play around with their nifty iPhones and glorious flat-screen desktops. Insider tip: The children's section has very comfortable cushioned seats. read more

Just stopped by their "grand re-opening." I figured their will be a bit of a line, so we got there early and ended up third in line. As an aside, whatever rituals they put the crew through before the opening of a store are a little odd, almost cultish. People making speeches and applause, people hugging. To be fair it may have been perfectly normal if you were inside the building, but the visual from afar was a little freaky. My mission was to buy an Apple Watch Series 2. They are out of stock most places and figured the new store would have them. When I got in line a guy came up and asked me what I was there for. I told him the model of watch that I wanted. He said he would run in and check on inventory. He returned 20 minutes later (I'm assuming he had to participate in the store opening ritual) to tell me that they only had two watches in stock. Not two models, but two watches. I told the guy that I wasn't trying to be a hard ass, but it baffled me that they would open a new store without inventory. I don't think a new McDonald's would open and tell people that they don't have any Big Macs. There is a Jos A. Banks across the way. Would they do a grand opening and say we have only two sports coats? The guy was nice enough when I questioned him, but then he told me that the inventory was taken up by people that ordered online and scheduled for pickup. That is when I told him that I was calling BS on him. We've been checking everyday to do just that, and the watch that I wanted has never been available for pick up at the store. He then tried to say that it opened up for orders last night. Nah...I looked. And I looked again this morning. So I was cool until the guy tried to BS me. I'm sure they are a fine enough store, it's just that my marketing sensibilities were taken aback by a store opening with such limited inventory. There were more people leaving the line after finding out their product wasn't in stock, than there were those actually remaining to enter the store. I went here because I was having problems with my ancient, 4th generation iPod. I'm still rockin' the monochrome screen, with no photo or video capability! I'm what you might call a "late adopter". Anyway, so what I found was that even if you live and work in Clarendon and think "My iPod is acting up, so I'll stop by the Apple store on my lunch break", you can't do that. Don't even think about it b/c that's not the way Apple works. To get tech support from an Apple store, you have to go to the Apple web site, find the store you want to go to, and make an online appointment with the "Genius Bar". No walk-ins. Boy that's a pain in the ass. And did I mention that appointments for a specific day and time only become available for online reservation 48 hours in advance? So because I can't live without my iPod and I wanted it seen on Monday, I couldn't make a reservation the previous week. I had to make a special effort to take time out at 3 PM on the Saturday of my friend's bachelor party weekend in Miami to find an Internet connection and make my reservation at the exact time at which it became available. Even bigger pain in the ass. I'm sure they get a big volume of service/tech help requests, but if I have to take time out of my weekend just to make a reservation instead of getting help when I show up and am willing to wait, I think the help system needs to be rethought. Maybe some sort of split, with some tech resources devoted to reservations and some devoted to walk-ins? When I actually went to my appointment, I had to wait 15 minutes after my appointed time to get service. Regularly I wouldn't be annoyed by that, but if they're going to make the reservation system the ONLY way to get tech support at an Apple store, they probably should stay on time. But hey, sometimes things run late, so not a huge deal. What I do have a problem with is that they weren't much help at all. Basically I was having problems updating/loading songs onto my iPod. At the Genius Bar, they suspected I had an error on the iPod's hard drive, so they connected it to their music collection to test the music upload process. But they only had about 100 songs, so it didn't get far enough into my hard drive to find and witness the error. Hello?!? You're a tech support place and you don't have enough test data or test tools to fully exploit errors on people's systems? Kinda useless. However, contrary to some of the previous reviews on Yelp for this place, my Genius Bar guy was very friendly. Aside from not being any help whatsoever, he was a pretty cool guy. One thing that everybody should know though, is that if you get a new iPod at the Apple store, if you take in your old one and recycle it at the store also, you get 10% off your new iPod, which is pretty sweet. Also, if you're a federal government employee, just say so and you'll get another 6% or 8% off (I'm not sure of the exact number), which is even better. You may have to show your government ID to get that discount. read more

Micro Center successfully did the things that Apple "couldnt" do. I came here to get my MacBook Pro's battery replaced. They said that they couldn't run diagnostics which is bull they just refused to. All the ports worked. They said it was their policy that they couldn't send older models to be fixed. I guess there's not enough money making in fixing older models? I was really upset so I went to micro center and guess what? They were able to run diagnostics!! Unbelievable. Apple just wants your money. Anyways, micro center is replacing my battery for me since Apple down right refused to. Apple touts their discount to military and retired military personnel, but TRUST, the 10% off your products are certainly not worth the low class service from Apple Clarendon!!! We spent over three hours in the store trying to purchase a new phone. Once we finally got the "new phone", they claimed we needed a new SIM card from Verizon. So we went to Verizon with the "new phone". Verizon identified the "new phone" they sold us was a LEMON. When we went back to the Apple Clarendon store, we were told they could swap-out the "new phone", but we would be ineligible for Apple care on the device. WHAT???? We had to return the lemon, and purchase another "branew phone". So here we sit, waiting for management, to figure out how to do their damn job. So far the process has taken us over five hours. Sold me an iPhone under false pretenses. Said I would get a $350 credit from ATT and only $5 service charge added per month. Turns out she took me off my family plan so now my monthly charge is $130 and I was charged the full price for the phone, no credit. Absolutely outrageous. This store actually brought this hockey player to tears tonight. I'd had the day from Hell, didn't sleep last night; felt sick; got in a fight w/ a coworker at work; came home to a sick fiancee and sick dogs; and then when I was out getting them soup, I pulled my nearly two-year old iPhone 3GS from my pocket, dropped it, and the screen shattered. I stood there staring at it for a minute or five, silently wishing for the day to just end. So I called Apple, and after waiting on hold for about ten minutes, they scheduled me for an appointment at the Clarendon Store's 'Genius Bar' this very evening, and could I make it from Ballston to Clarendon in an hour? Apple also told me that it could cost about $200 to fix. Witha sigh, I got back in the car and drove VERY careful given how the day had been going. The store was far from its normal chaos, and I was greeted immediately by a smiling greeter person who eventually put me in touch with Genius Micah. Micah took one look at my phone and gently said "oh dear, what happened? Did it fall on concrete?" "No, Harris Teeter's floor," I replied. "I think we have the parts, let me go in the back and look," and he took my phone from me, and went in the back. "It'll take about ten minutes," he said while walking away. So I did what all men do while waiting at the Apple Store and played with the iPad, played with a Mac, tried to get onto Facebook and the Drudge Report, and pondered the recent death of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden. Micah emerged ten minutes later with a smile and showed me my phone, with a brand new screen, good as new. As I was handling it, he said that he reviewed my service record, and since I hadn't really had many issues (or any) with the iPhone, this screen was on them. Shocked, a "Whaa" sound came out of my mouth. My eyes welled up and he said "have a nice evening." I actually choked up a little. Apple, today was a crap day, and was going downhill fast. Thanks for hiring Micah, and for turning it around. THIS Is why I'm an Apple customer, and will remain so regardless of what South Park thinks of you. You rocked today. Keep it up. read more

If I could give this store negative stars, I would. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. I have come here twice and had equally abysmal experiences. For starters, the layout of the store is completely idiotic. It rivals Walmart. Actually, I think you stand a better chance of finding something in Walmart than in here. The product inventory is sparse. Apparently whatever minimal training the employees receive does not include inventory management. They throw a few laptops on tables and that's about it. And if you were planning on actually trying out any of said product, plan to wait about an hour for the kid banging on the keys to finish his game of whatever. That brings us back to the service... I don't think I've met an employee so utterly useless or completely put out about having to *gasp* talk to a customer. I know, I know, you really need to finish your conversation with the other Apple employee about the Avatar viewing party you're throwing tonight. I walked out of here with a shiny new Macbook and and iPod touch, so 2 stars for providing me with exactly what I wanted. I had scrambled out of work a little early and made it to Clarendon around 3pm on a Friday. It wasn't too crowded, but I still had trouble flagging down the proper person to speak with. I asked a guy with a "specialist" shirt on.... he said he'd have to find a specialist. Hm. Then I had to make an appointment with one of the roaming specialists, while I was standing there in the store. Thank goodness they've got all of their products out to keep you entertained. When my specialist finally came over, I explained to him that I was an easy sell. I pointed to the computer I wanted and said "That one. I'm all set. Thanks." I wanted to get in and out quickly, so I could get home and play with my new toy! I had done all of my research online and it was settled. Still, the guy wanted to try to sell it to me! He showed me all of the features as I just kind of nodded along absentmindedly. The whole process took about 20 minutes out of my life that I'd really like back. When I finally made it clear that I still wanted the exact same thing I came in for, and I was ready to pay for it, like, RIGHT NOW, the guy went to the back to get my stuff. He definitely tried to upsell, with the .Mac program, Protection Plan, and other software. He was nice enough to give me a sample copy of the Apple version of Office to try out, cause I explained over and over that I was ridiculously poor and not ready to buy any add-ons at this point. I know this isn't a store-only policy, but I have to say that I love Apple's education discount. As a higher education administrator, I qualify for money off of hardware as well as other products like the protection plan, and in the summer they give out freebies, this summer the iPod touch! So snaps for that. read more

Abysmal service. They have a million people in red standing around, but most stare at their shoes or avoid eye contact. Then you realize there are no prices or specs near any of the items. Then you finally flag someone down after 20 minutes who tells you that - sorry, they are all out of iPhones. And they don't know when ones will come in because what they get in the morning is all random. It could be cases, it could be iPads, it could be a load of BS. Actually, that much is certain. Best part is they recommend you buy online anyway. So why is the store here in the first place? Fail. Awful. Would never go back. There are alternatives. Get your gear into shape, guys. read more

Excellent, knowledgeable and friendly customer service. Made an appointment and went in for a battery replacement for a three year old phone. Apple website says it should take about 30 minutes, this store said it would be an hour when I dropped it off. It took about an hour and 10 which is a bit slow, but was more than made up for by quality work and excellent interactions with every employee I talked to at the store. There were several interesting classes going on while I was there which seemed worth stopping by for later on. It's a busy area so you may have to search a little for parking, but there is street parking available in the 1/2 mile area. read more

For a simple computer problem, I had to show up four times (their phone number doesn't work). This store alone got me to return my Apple TV and swear off apple everything. This is by far the worst Apple store I've been to. THE WORST PART was having the Clarendon manager advise me to drive to other Apple stores to see if I can get better service there. SADLY, not a joke. Getting a repair done is a frustrating experience. They told me that they didn't know what was wrong with my computer, and it would be a flat fee of $775 to fix it. I went to micro center. All it needed was a new power cord. If you want a repai here, you can expect the following: 1. Waiting a half hour to see a Genius Bar person, even though you checked in on time. 2. Your repair will not be done anywhere near the date they tell you it will be. 3. Their phone system doesn't work, so expect at least five hours (hopefully doing something else) to get a status update. Expect to be on hold for 3 hours straight, with no voice/music in the background. Expect to give up after 3 hours, and continue finding other ways to get through to them. 4. Expect multiple redialing. Expect to hear: "Please hold while I transfer your call." Expect to be hung up on shortly afterwards. 5. Expect that the staff will be more likely to deal with your problem if you are wearing makeup and a short skirt. More to expect: 1. They will tell you things can't be done, like using an external hard drive for an iPad, if they aren't in the business of supporting (read: making money off of) such transaction. 2. "Genius" staff are likely to be clueless, technologically speaking. They might be trained in one thing, like headphones, and know NOTHING about everything else in the store. read more

This is my favorite Apple store in the area for several reasons. The parking situation is doable, it's near Bertucci's and Free People, and the staff is really helpful. My friend's iPod just stopped working one day, and we thought it was going to be like pulling teeth to get a new one under his contract. Sometimes they try to fix it even though it's completely hopeless. But the staff member went in the back, got a new iPod and we were out of there in 10 minutes, without any bloodshed. They also have some respectable displays here -- probably everything you could want in an Apple store. They have a great inventory of accessories, software and equipment. read more

This place is CHAOS!!! There is absolutely no order to anything. There is no line to queue up. When I finally cornered an employee for assistance I was told he was busy helping another customer. Mind you this guy appeared out of no where after I had been waiting 45min. The help staff simply mills around the store doing nothing and when you ask for help they just walk away from you. BLAST!!!! At the very least they could give you a number like they do at deli counters. If only mac products were less addictive, damn you Steve Jobs!!! Damn you!!! Imagine, one day, the most horrible thing possible happens; your computer stops working. What are you to do? Panic? Break down in hysterics? Throw things? I thought I would when that very thing happened to me. Before I curled up into the fetal position and cried myself into oblivion, I called Apple Care. The tech person was so helpful and really understood my dilemma. My whole life is on that machine. After talking me through several steps to isolate the problem, but to no avail, they referred me to a service center where I could have a real, live, Genius check out my Mac. The genius was friendly and knowledgeable. He was able to figure out what was wrong with my Mac and quickly set up a repair service that would fix all of my baby's ails. The Clarendon Apple store is probably one of my favorite computer stores ever. read more

Any future Apple product purchases will be done at Pentagon City or over the internet. I like the Apple store in Clarendon the most of all the Apple stores in the DC metro area. It is easy to get in and out of (No mall attached). The people that work there are friendly and will find the answer to your question if they do not know themselves. I have made several purchases from this store and I will continue to do so. I love that you can go in and play with the gadgets. Since I am not buying an iphone, I can pretend for a few minutes at a time. read more

I thought I walked into a gym. Do all Apple stores smell like this? I don't think so. I have to agree with a previous reviewer though that the sweat stench is overwhelming, much like I had stepped into a Gold's gym. Odor aside, the service here was fantastic. My genius bar appointment was set for 7:30 and I arrived at 7pm. Within 5 minutes the first genius (I have no idea what that person's job is really called) approached cheerful and ready to help. A quick analysis of my phone left me with 2 possibilities. A $59 fix or a $269 replacement. Of course I'm smart enough to insure my precious device so knowing I could obtain a much cheaper insurance swap, I said let's go for it, praying for the $59 fix. About 20 minutes later, exactly my original appointment time, a second genius approached. He wasn't as cheerful as the first but was quite knowledgable, straight forward, pleasant and efficient. He admitted my baby to the iPhone hospital while I waited for about 20 minutes. During my wait time, I had a nice and brief chat with the security guard. Afterwards, I grabbed a stool to send a few emails and was unwilling drug into conversation by a random hippie...but hey, it added to the "Apple experience". Sadly, the genius reappeared with a genuinely sad look on his face. The speaker replacement ($59 option) did not work. He waited while I double checked that my insurance replacement would be cheaper than Apple (and it was significantly) and wished me luck as I left. Although my phone's issue wasn't resolved, I enjoyed my experience here. It was tremendously better than the times I've stopped in Pentagon City and Columbia Mall. I had a Genius appointment with Danny and they were great! Very patient and kind. When I was transferred to the sales side, they weren't able to get me set up with a new phone because of an issue with my carrier (not their fault), but the customer service overall was awesome. read more

This is like 400% better and (at least that much bigger) than the closet they call the Apple store in Bethesda (where the sales people are either infinitely rude or totally clueless). Since I gave the Bethesda Apple store 1 star, this one gets 4 times as many = 4 stars! This store is really big and there are lots of toys, accessories, and software. I went in to look up directions to Ray's Hell Burger (you gotta go!) and one of the sales guys was really helpful and NICE, and was also able to answer some pretty technical questions like: - How do I change the order of preferred DNS servers on my MacBook? This was just a sales dude, not a Genius (the tech support guys), and was clearly working there for the employee discount. Yay VA! read more

Absolutely terrible. Every store in Arlington has opened up yet Apple doesn't have one store open in a 100 mile radius of Washington, D.C. I bought a Macbook Pro for over $3k less than a year ago and it's breaking down rapidly. I haven't been able to get it fixed for months! Apple doesn't care at all, the only option they gave me was to mail it in and wait for a 2 week turnaround. I called them multiple times and they gave me disinformation each time (said the store was opening up when it never did, and they also said I could take it to 3rd party repair options for same day repair - when all the third party repair options are completely booked because all Apple stores in the area are closed). I rely on my computer for running my digital business, my livelihood, and being without my computer for 2 weeks is NOT an option. When I invested thousands upon thousands of dollars in Apple products over the year I expect two things: #1) That they will function properly and not break down, and #2) That if they need to get repaired I can get them repaired in a timely manner. Apple has completely failed me and others, leaving us out in the cold, when we needed them most! This is a perfect example of unethical business practices that people are finally realizing that Apple engages in. This is the same company that was knowingly using child labor in China, and the same company that was knowingly making older iPhones artificially slow and non-functional so that they could force their customers to buy a new phone and spend more money on Apple. And of course they don't allow third party repairs, so we are completely reliant on their current non-existent repair options. Also, the new Macbook Pros are absolutely junk. I bought the most expensive 2019 model and as I said it has broken down in less than a year of use. The keyboard is wearing down, sticking, letters are fading out. The speakers are messed up. The touchbar has completely broken. And these are known issues that countless customers have experienced after buying what they thought was a quality product from Apple. If you go online you will see thousands of people complaining that their Apple computer is complete piece of junk with no durability whatsoever. Apple is open in CHINA, Apple is open all over the country, and all the stores in Arlington and the DC area are open, yet all Apple stores are closed and Apple offers NO repair options for their terrible products. I WILL NEVER USE APPLE AGAIN. I RUN A DIGITAL BUSINESS WITH A FEW EMPLOYEES AND WE ARE DONE WITH APPLE FOREVER! I have been a loyal Apple customer for years but this is the end! I have been an apple customer 4+ years and have visited many stores in various areas. Most of the time my issues are resolved and I leave the store a satisfied customer. This past weekend I visited the Clarendon store for the first time. I had an appointment because i have an ongoing issue with my iPhone. As most Apple stores, the store was crowded, especially since the release of the 4S. But they had it managed fairly well. The Tech Manager was my support person and insisted that my issue would be resolved with a restore. I explained to him that I had already done that and he continued to tell me that I should go home and go online to apple support and follow the instructions. I explained to him that I had drove over an hour to get to this appointment and that I would not be happy if my issue wasn't resolved by following these steps. I wanted to leave the store with my issue resolved. Needless to say, I followed his instructions (3-times) and my phone is still performing in the same manner. I called him and told him the steps did not work and he basically said i needed to go back and take my laptop so they could see how i restored my phone. Hmmm! Not very happy. Although that is the closest store to me, I don't think I will be going back to this store for anything. After being what I consider an experienced apple product user, i was treated as if I was a novice (even after he realized i had been a customer for a few years). I should not have been asked to inconvenience myself again, when he didn't even take the time to look at my issue. Love Apple products, but lately I try to stay out to stores for sure. There's going to be a lotta love in this review. Going to the Apple store is like a pilgrimage for mesmerized followers. I love my iMac desktop. I love my iPods (including my latest Nano - bright yellow with "Martha My Dear - Beatles White Album" engraved on back). I used to love my Mac laptop until it suffered a painful death when, somehow (who me?) it landed on its spine, upside down. Ouch. I want either an iPhone or an iPad - will probably opt for the iPad and keep my phone. Bottom line: the service at Apple stores - and at this Clarendon store in particular - is sublime. The atmosphere is like Trader Joe's but hipper. These people are really passionate about their Macs - and it's contagious. The enthusiasm is electric. I LOVE THIS PLACE. Now I just need to save up enough for the iPad and preparations for the next pilgrimage will begin: bank card (check); passport (check); hiking boots (check); pith helmet (check); burmuda shorts (check); sunblock (check); and lots of patience - because the wait will continue to be long for the iPad (check). read more

Excellent Apple Store. Friendly, knowledgable staff. Fast on repairs. Good crowd control. Clean. Good product selection. Comfortable chairs. Staff does not object to an Apple owner sitting for two hours in the store using the Wi-Fi while waiting for a repair... or just waiting for the bus. read more

I was an Apple Store virgin. This hoity-toity white box usually turns me away with its long line of snobs and blue-shirted geeks. But the "home" button of my four-year-old iPhone 4 was stuck and nonfunctional, not to mention I did not have any free memory for a single photo (what can I say, iPhones have phenomenal cameras and all my travel photos are geo-tagged!). Also, I found my stash of gift cards to blow, so it was time for a phone upgrade. All of the Blue Shirts were busy, except for one in the corner of the store. Turns out she was just the accessories staff, but she escorted me to her teammate who put me in the queue with his iPhone. The girl who was assigned to me was super helpful. She processed my purchase quickly, and recommended a really good protective case (Tech21 Impactology). Then she sent me to some guy to help me set up the phone. Now this is where my experience goes downhill. Without explaining what his purpose is, this guy proceeds with opening the box, taking out MY brand new iPhone 6, and - get this - HE PEELS THE WRAPPER OFF! Excuse me, but that is one of the purest pleasures of getting a new tech toy! He had a bored attitude the whole time as he walked me through the set up, which I could've done on my own at home (my daddy didn't raise a dummy). That is enough reason for docking a star. Overall, the introvert in me doesn't particularly like all the personal attention (they don't leave you alone even when you browse accessories). But I guess they are there to help... So. Next time I need to make a purchase at an Apple Store, I'm running out after paying and will unwrap My Precious where I can savor the little joys all by myself. read more

I've been here on several occasions... the last being when I bought my Nano. Unlike some of the yelpers here, I didn't find the staff to be rude so much as disinterested. I went in one time when I was on the fence on buying a Mac, and I'm sure I could have been persuaded to have done so, assuming someone took an interest enough in me to do the actual persuading. Now, I absolutely hate the hard sell, especially when it comes to electronics. But damn... I've worked retail and you at least acknowledge your customers. Granted, when I was able to distract someone long enough to get my iPod, they were quite friendly and didn't try any upsell/hard sell crap, which is a pet peeve of mine, especially when I know what I want (I got a lowly 1 gig Nano, and there was no "OMG you can only carry 200 songs, you need at least an 8 jillion gig model. You're in luck, we have one more left. For a cool grand it's all yours sucker!!!"). The verdict: if for some reason I really did want a Mac, I'd probably go to amazon just because I'll probably get it quicker than if I went here. But no pushy salespeople means you can put all their computers through their paces (I did, and then some) without someone constantly leaning over your shoulder. Plus, if the commercials are any basis, Macs cure edema/dropsy/the grippe/male pattern baldness and some other stuff, so it might be worth your while to get one here. UPDATE 12/29/07: I've been here twice in the past week and based on the service I've received, I'm bumping them to 4 stars (from the previous 3). Service was a lot more attentive and enthusiastic, and the Genius Bar was really helpful in resolving some issues I've been having with my new 3rd gen iPod. Both visits were definite improvements over my past experiences. Hmm... maybe they're reading yelp! read more
