I bought a mackbook pro on Oct/19. The computer started literally dying on me, so it has been repaired by Apple on 2 occasions and this is the 3 time. I have been pleading with Apple to replace the computer, as this the computer that I use for work to no avail, today I spoke at the Deer Park location in Illinois with Becka (or at least that is who she says she was as she didn't have a name tag) and the manager, Jason, who told me that if I can't work because of computer problems that it was my fault for not having a backup computer! Please stay away from this store and apple computers, don't want anyone else to go through what I have been through (3 repairs in under a month) for a computer that is not even a year old. When I get my computer back, I will be taking it to Best Buy (they give me more $ for it than apple) and buying a pc. Apple does nothing to keep you as a customer, no empathy whatsoever, their solution was for me to buy out of pocket another computer and the return it after my computer gets fixed. Really sad to have to write this review, but buyer beware, stay away from this store and apple computers. read more

I would give this place a 1 or a 2 but my friend works here. He didn't service us but the person that did was horrible. Dude made us wait almost two hours just to tell us he couldn't have his techs check our iPad. He told us just to turn it on and off. Staff is really not helpful at this store; the folks at the genius bar don't even look to see whats wrong with the equipment, but instead tell you its a flat rate fee to fix everything... and it is over 50% of the cost of new equipment. Atleast check what is wrong first.. Apple service is spoiling Apple's name BIGTIME. When I showed up for my appointment I was told that they need to look at my phone first to see if I need a new battery. I told them I really don't care about that, I want a new battery. He looked at My phone and then told me they don't have a new battery for my phone, i would need to order it. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. So we all know that Apple makes great products. What sold me completely on Apple was the customer service I received today at the Apple Store in Deer Park. I have an iTouch (which I love), then I got an iPad2 (love love it) and then I recently purchased an iphone4 (continue to fall in love). My home button was working intermittently and I didn't know what to do. A friend told me to schedule an appointment at the Genius Bar. I was a little skeptical but I went ahead and made an appointment. Arrived at the store a bit after my scheduled appointment but was helped by Ryan with superb customer service. You can totally tell when someone loves their job. He helped me and made me feel like everything would be ok. Because face it, when our electronic gadgets don't work the world just isn't right. lol Ryan has made me a confirmed lifetime MacHead. The tale of a wild goose chase. Tonight I went in to make a simple exchange of a USB iphone charger which had broken. (the power connection was intermittent due to a broken or frayed wire inside the cord.) It was under warranty so I thought this would be a quick exchange. The store was very busy but well staffed. I was greeted politely by the employee at the front door. I asked where I could do a simple exchange and he sent me to the back of the store. On my way to the back of the store I found the replacement power cord hanging on the wall. That was easy, now where is the customer service desk???? No customer service desk = only 1 stars. Here's why. All of the employees were very busy with customers. 5 different employees I could finally get to talk to me pointed me to a different department. It was very confusing not knowing who to talk to. Without a traditional 'line' to stand in I felt like a life raft floating in a vast ocean waiting to be rescued. How do the employees know which customer is waiting to be helped and is 'next in line'? Even if I was just doing a simple purchase of an accessory, who is there to take my money? After 20 minutes of being bounced around I walked out. I went back to the department store I purchased the usb cable from. Was returned easily for a cash refund with no questions asked. My advise to apple? Better training on customer service. If an employee can't help the customer, that's okay but that employee should find the employee that can and introduce that employee to the customer. Too many times of just sending the customer in the other/wrong direction ends up sending those $$$ out the door to be spent somewhere else. My advise to the consumer? Purchase your apple brand accessories somewhere else. Only come here for large ticket purchases when the store is not busy. read more

Love the product, but not this store. I drove 30 minutes to this store because my new Iphone 6 has a cracked screen. I was told all tech's are booked for the rest of the day (I entered the store at 1230pm) and that I should try driving to Woodfield Mall which is another 30 minutes away. As annoying as this was I was not upset until I noticed 4 employes standing by the front door talking to each other not helping any customers. I asked the 'scheduler" if any of these employees could assist me and he explained those employees are only for sales only and they are not tech's. I tried asking the difference in buying a new phone versus getting a new phone under warranty however he refused to assist. I guess my money was already spent which makes me less important... This store is a poor representation of a great brand. read more

Waste of time. I made an appointment several days in advance to get a new battery for my iPhone. When I got there I was told there was a two hour wait. What the hell is the appointment for? I wasted 25 minutes (one way) driving there, but "good news" they would allow me to leave and come back in two hours for my phone. Never mind. I guess I'll be getting a Samsung that won't rip me off with a software flaw that slows the phone when the battery gets old. Or I could replace it myself and void the warranty. I'm a loyal Apple user that has purchased hundreds of computers, ipads, and phones (personally and for my business and employees) so this is not a diss to Apple products themselves. Yesterday, I had purchased a new iphone 7 online. Paid in full, set up my pick up time at 7:30 at the Apple store, and thought all was well. After driving an hour out of my way after a long day at work, I arrived at the Apple store. I presented the QR code in my Apple wallet for a fast, easy pickup. Nope, wouldn't be that easy... I was told I had to wait in a line. No big deal, how long can it be? Well, after waiting in the long line that moved through one person in 30 minutes (because it was full of people not just picking up pre-paid products), I knew I didn't have the time to stay since I had to get home to my 3 kids and wife to help the bedtime routine. I stepped out of line, and went back to the check-in line to ask if I can simply have my phone shipped to me instead, or if I could cancel my order so I can rebuy online to have it shipped. While waiting in the new line, another Apple employee ("Employee Awesome-pants") noticed me stepping out and waved me over. After telling him what I needed to do since I had to get home, he did what any great company that believes in customer service would do and said I'll get you out of here in 5 minutes with your new phone. As he was starting to look up my info, the Apple employee who was in charge of check-ins ("Employee Poopy-pants"), came over and asked "What are doing, there is a line?" Employee Awesome-pants explained how he was helping out, but Employee Poopy-pants was quick to interject with his opposition. All of a sudden I was standing in the middle of an employee debate (which is rude), so I tried asking if I can just please change my order to ship to me or cancel it, like I was originally asking. Employee poopy-pants, who now was treating me as a line cutter, said I need to wait in line to make a change or call Apple. He then went back to trying to enforce his power trip over Employee Awesome-pants by debating a bit more while I quietly slid my way out the store. On the drive home, I tried canceling my order online, which it said I could not, so I tried calling Apple which had me on hold the entire way home until I had to hang up. Frustrating. All in all, I understand trying to follow company protocol, but as a business owner myself, sometimes you have to go out of your way to give exceptional customer service as Employee Awesome-pants was trying to do. He wasn't hurting anybody, nobody in line even noticed or seemed to care, and since mine was going to be a simple transaction since I was just picking up a prepaid item, I could have probably had my phone by the time Employee poopy-pants was done arguing in front of me. Thanks Apple Store Deer Park for wasting a few hours of an extremely busy, time-strapped business owner who already has trouble finding enough time in his days... and also had to waste time writing this review. Update: I've been on hold for over an hour with Apple this morning trying to resolve this... I am so frustrated the amount of time dealing with this!! Update 2: I had to cancel my order so I can reorder to pick up at the Woodfield store. Went to Woodfield and had my phone inless than 2 minutes. What a difference. read more

Worse customer service ever! Expect when I spent $800 on the latest and greatest new iPhone. They did everything but kiss my a$$. Now that the $800+ iPhone is having issues they make me wait 50 minutes. Yes I was a walk in and came back 2 hrs later when they had an appointment for me. Had they told me I'd have to wait another hour I would have left. The employee have their heads so far up their a$$ they don't care if you're waiting. Unless you decide to purchase something then they roll the red carpet for you. How can a table of 4 adults waiting to be helped in the middle of the store not ring a bell for anyone in this place? No one came up to me to tell me how long I'd be waiting. When I finally got a hole of one of the rudest employees he didn't let me finish my question and continued to disrupt me. Apple should have employees wear name tags so we can identify the miserable individual to avoid on the next unfortunate visit (you'll be back no matter what). Now I'm stuck with this phone for another year before I can return to android. What a big disappointment. This store is so unorganized and no one seems to be in charge or want the responsibility from the looks of it. Think long and hard and make sure you take the day off before making your way to this location. It doesn't deserve the 1 star. read more

This store does not work for the customer, it just works for Apple. Like many in this review thread, my time was WASTED by the lack of information I was given before I got placed into a 'que' line. Here's the deal, I was on location here at Deer Park on Friday evening and asked one of the Apple staff members if I could pay with Paypal and do an in store pick up. My previous phone broke and naturally I wanted to replace it quickly. The staff member told me I could use Paypal, and that I could even order on one of their computers and the item would be ready in 15 minutes. I went through the entire process online, typed in the phone number I would be using and all of my personal info. I also put in an additional number through which Apple contacted me to confirm the transaction while I was at the store. I was finally approached by an Apple employee to show her the confirmation/transaction email from Apple. I then waited for her to dig up the 5c in the back. After all of this time, the employee came back with the phone in hand and asked for my ID. Now, if the first staff member I asked, or the manager that put me in line, mentioned that I needed an ID, I would have quickly ran home (instead of waiting for 30 minutes) and gotten my ID because I live close by. However nobody informed me and this was a rare instance where I had forgotten it. Since the store was now about to close, I found myself lucky to have a copy of my passport and my bills and all sort of information that would have proven who I was (not to mention that I bought the phone while at the store through their computer)!! The issue was taken up with the manager I mentioned before and unfortunately she would not budge. I had to come back the next day and go through the process and wait all over. Moral of the story, don't forget your ID or don't buy online OR go to a store that is managed with more regard for someone's time and not paranoid so much about their product. read more

As a lifetime PC user I finally caved in to the Apple lifestyle. My HP laptop cost me almost $4500 after all of the money and time I pumped into (getting a 2 new hard drives, fixing a bad CD drive, losing all of my data TWICE). I went into the store basically knowing what I wanted because my sister just bought a Macbook Pro and I wanted almost the same thing. Ethan, our computer specialist, helped me really narrow down exactly what I needed and he didn't try to sell me anything that wasn't necessary. Such a patient guy and he knew a lot for being new. He also went out of his way and sat on the phone for 15 minutes to figure out a discrepency with the Juniper credit card that is offered through Visa/Apple (allows for no financing for a year). The next day I came in and Brandon (hands down the most gorgeous man I've ever laid eyes on) helped me to purchase my computer. The tech guys did an incredible job of transferring over all my data from the HP to the Mac. I now have such a piece of mind with my new laptop because I know that I will be nearly problem-free with it and should anything occur, I trust that this staff will know how to handle it. I have been to and purchased from this store several times. every time I go in there i get the shun. i literally have to ask for help even tho several reps walk by and make eye contact. then when i ask for help, the person i ask has to "go find" someone else to help me. every time. so weird. also, my opinion is they are ageist in this store. Just want to say -not everyone who is over 25 is stupid about technology...some of us work in the tech marketplace and not in retail job simply selling the technology. Want an expensive way to feel like a criminal? Then stop on by the Apple Store in Deer Park. I came in to buy a new phone about 15 minutes before they closed. I knew exactly what I wanted, so I thought it would be painless...I thought wrong. My card didn't go through at first so they typed it in manually, and it went through. This must have raised a red flag, because the man helping me started asking me strange questions like if I was traveling to different countries for work. I'm a 27 year old girl from Wisconsin in a Green Bay Packer t-shirt, the only place I'm planning on going anytime soon is back across the border to leave your crook infested state. I'm pretty sure he had to he report back to his manager at least 5 times, even though I told him that the transaction had already gone through on my bank statement. He then said he had to make a hard copy of my debit card, and asked for my ID. While I was waiting around, feeling like I was about to get interrogated in the back of store, I saw multiple people get turned away without any merchandise. One guy that was denied a phone was actually yelling at this crotchety, old woman, saying they messed with the wrong guy. When do you see something like that when someone is trying to purchase something? Does their corporate headquarters know that in 20 minutes this place lost probably $3,000? I can't imagine the reason for this, it's almost like this store didn't want to make a sale. It's not like I'm buying 12 iPhones to sell in a dark alley somewhere either. The only person that did make a purchase was a well dressed man in business attire. I doubt they ran a background check on him. After waiting here for over 40 minutes (they were actually shutting the store down and cleaning the floors while I stood there waiting) I was actually contemplating whether or not I wanted this fucking sweatshop phone anymore. As soon as I was about to ask for my cards that were being held hostage and maybe the new phone that had already been paid for so I could leave, he came out and said, "sorry that took so long." Walked in to inquire about a problem with my desktop (purchased in 2013, and used maybe a total of 12 times). Was told to make an appointment and come back later. Came back later, only to wait, wait, wait. None of the technicians seem to be in any sort of hurry to help at the tech desk. Finally got a technician who five minutes after looking said, "Sorry, I have to go, but 'C' will take care of you in a minute." C was right next to me, chatting with a customer for 45 min., and didn't look like he was ready to stop any time soon. I expressed my frustration, and he finally came over. After looking at my computer for another 5 minutes, he said, there's a problem with the internal something (it controls the graphics), and it will cost $500.00 to fix. WHAT? Are you kidding me? My 90 day warranty was up long ago, and I was screwed. I could either purchase a new computer or suck it up and pay the $500.00. Why would I possibly consider buying another iMac after the experience I've had with this one? And because I am in the middle of a photo project, I'm at their mercy. Anyway, beware of the repair service. It's a racket! There's no way of knowing whether the problem really lies with what they say it does, and the cost... well, it's Apple, and it's beyond ridiculous. The bottom line, Apple products are not nearly as spectacular as they may have once been, and they definitely do not stand the test of time. There's no way this computer should have crashed after two years of very little use. I will never buy another Apple computer again! And bad on me. I should have taken the computer to be fixed elsewhere, where I'm sure it would not have cost nearly as much! 10-10-15 Update: Recieved a call from the store several days after going in, and they decided not to charge me anything after all, and determined that the problem wasn't with what they originally suspected. Having been unaware that you need to make an appointment for service, I walked in at opening time as my iPhone would not take a charge. It was explained to me that people with appointments would be taken at their appointment time, but I was welcome to wait for an available tech. I asked to wait. Within a couple of minutes, someone came and did diagnostics on my phone. They informed me that I needed a replacement battery and that there would be no charge, would I still like to wait. Yes, of course! She then hooked my phone into a computer so I could read my book on my phone while I waited. About 20 painless minutes later (I was reading so I was happy), a technician took my phone and said, it will be ready in 45 min. I went for a stroll around the shops in the mall and returned in 30 min. I was informed my phone was ready. Somehow, none of the people in there ever lose their temper, even when customers are yelling at them (mostly because they didn't know their own passwords). The customer service and training is excellent. They never tried to upsell, only to ask what I would like and provide it. A+ service in my book! read more

After an hour of waiting and talking about it a second staff person finally said that they have an express tech for walk ins. Their crew needs better training on how to best serve the customer. Brought my computer in under Apple Care and have been back 7 times because the problems still exist. They replaced my hard drive and the computer still spins away. Safari crashes every time I use it. Unbelievable bad service. I've called in to check on my repair and they tell me they personally checked and the computer in "on the bench" and they will call me. I bought my first iPhone yesterday from this store. I ordered it online and then went to the store to pick it up and have it set up. I had Ben help me from beginning to end and he was amazing. Because I have an iPad, I'm familiar with a lot of the gestures so he just focused on what's different with the iPhone 6. Saved a lot of time. He had me set up with a working phone and trained enough to get me started in 45 minutes. That included giving me a tutorial on the various phone case options and most useful apps for my needs. The store was very busy in the middle of the day on a Monday but they had plenty of workers so there was not a wait. Overall, an outstanding experience and I would highly recommend getting your iPhone from this store. A much, much better experience than when I went to my TMobile store to buy it and the person clearly didn't know much at all. read more

Worst service ever, they broke my screen when popping it off to check for water damage and wont repair it or replace it since there was previous water damage. My phone is working just fine now and just needed time to air out from water but not my screen is only on halfway and they admitted to breaking it and said they aren't obligated to fix it. Never have I seen customer service treat customers with such disrespect. My poor mother got yelled at, I was told to empathize with the manager (wait... this is your version of customer first?!), and now left on the verge of tears. I spent 3 hours trying to transfer data to my newly bought phone and ultimately was told my iCloud was corrupted which is why the transfer was apparently having issues. Then the manager had the audacity to tell me the data is my problem. Every method that we tried failed to transfer something and finally we were given an ultimatum: leave my old phone with them and never see it again, including all the data that didn't transfer, or get a whole new transaction and new phone again and hope it doesn't take another half day as I go home and try the unsuccessful transfer again myself. Neither are optimal given the risks and time I've spent myself, much less the rude interactions my family and I just endured. read more

Unfortunately this is my second bad experience with the genius bar. Today i went in to figureout why on historychannel.com the videos no longer will play. The techs went in back to talk to someone. He came back with the solution of wiping everything off ipad and starting from fresh restart. I did not have a latest backup so i declined. I started to walk out, stopped at a demo ipad, went to historychannel.com, and tried to load video. It failed too. So it not my ipad. But he wanted to wipe out everything on mine. Unfortunately I was given incorrect information about an issue I had with my sleep button on an iPhone 5. I voiced my concerns with the team at the Deer Park store and I felt my feedback was not valued. Without going into detail, I feel if the manager and team members at the store were not empowered to make decisions or work "outside policy". If they had been then they would have kept 2 very good customers. In the past 3 years we purchased 4 iPhones, 2 iPads and an iMac. We are not the best customers but we were loyal ones. I would recommend looking for another Apple Store however there are not many options in the Deer Park area. With increased competition and a declining market share I am surprised Apple still operates with a "Greater Than Thou" attitude. Android here I come! read more

I brought in my 2015 Macbook 12 inch here because my software wasnt working properly on the device. It was popping up a folder in the middle of the screen with a questionmark in it. I was told that thats a typical problem when shutting down the device via the power button. We then discussed how the buttons on the computer were sticking, one of the battery packs wasnt working properly, and the displays point of connection to the keyboard was loose. The computer did have major dents in all four corners and scratches both on the top and the bottom. Its has one dent so bad the metal had warpped. No cracks in the screen though. What Apple had done was replace my keyboard, replace the screen, and re-dowloaded ElCaptian to my device. All for free. Im incredibly happy with my service through this facility, and i have been and will be a continuing customer. read more
