I made an appointment with the genius bar and was seen immediately upon arrival (made the appointment online on Sunday 18 Dec '17, could not get an appointment until Tuesday 19 Dec '17 at 12:50 -- busy Christmas week). The first genius bar person couldn't solve my problem, so they brought out Gabe, a tech specialist. I needed my iPhone stuff transferred to my laptop; my iPhone 5S was passing to the great beyond, so I wanted to save the data somewhere in case I was later unable to retrieve it from the 5S. I am a tech ignoramous -- past the age of wanting to learn the inner workings, I just want to be able to charge a phone/laptop and go. Therefore, I felt could not take care of this issue at home or online. The transfer process took quite a while, but Gabe stayed with it, making sure things were going smoothly. Meanwhile, we had a nice chat, from which I got the strong feeling that Gabe cares about what he does and that Apple is lucky to have him working for them. read more

Simply one of the BEST Apple Store experience I have ever had! I had already received a return authorization on a recent purchase before coming to the store. The staff was prompt, knowledgeable, and kind. Once we needed manager approval I mentioned I already had this from the 800 number. A manager named Lee came up to help and immediately helped me with NO hassles. Every single employee I met from walking in to leaving was friendly, helpful, and took care of me quickly. I love apple stuff. But my last trip to the deer park store was absolutely ridiculous. I wanted to walk in and buy an iPad, knowing exactly which model and size I wanted. Had to talk to 3 different people and wait in line for 10 mins only to discover that I had to wait another 30 minutes to purchase an iPad. What??? No thanks. Walked out of the store and bought it at woodfield the next day. Too bad I'm a sucker and will probably have to deal with the same thing when the apple watch comes out. read more

Came here to buy a Macbook, the store was super crowded. We waited half an hour before we got fed up and left. We did the stupid iPad check-in and waited and waited and still nothing. You'd think with all that fancy technology they could at least show you a "your wait time is..." but nope. The good news was working with Rob at the genius bar. Rob fixed my iMac contacts that were duplicating faster than guppies. BUT, that was after Sergio was condescending and curt, so I asked for another genius. Three and a half hours later everything was fixed. Kudos to Rob. I think you'd agree with me, now, naturally customer service is the key to any successful business. Whether you're a giant like Apple or a tenacious entrepreneur, great products will only get you so far. Apple has always had great products but Microsoft was killing them simply based on the fact that they were Goliath, Windows had taken over the world. However, that all changed when Apple developed the Apple store, and AppleCare and Microsoft took their eye off the ball. Apple was extremely calculated with their ads, their products, and created what is now and still a dedicated die hard cult following. Seamlessly, they easily created an emotional response, a connection through personal touch, caring, and sharing free information. I remember you used to be able to send your iPhone in free of charge and they'd mail you a new one while yours was being repaired. In fact, they would overnight it. Most of the time, they would would just let you keep the lender iPhone without a question, or they provided you with a box and a pre-paid mailing envelope which with belief in the honor system, figured more of us would return the phone then wouldn't, and boy were they right! Apple's personal service made the world fall in "LOVE" with their products, and it's only obvious that love is the strongest raw emotion a human can experience. You make consumers fall in love with you, nothing can stop you, and it didn't. Apple quickly became the household name in electronics of the company and people that love and care about you and also make fabulous reliable products that make our lives more efficient living Microsoft in the dust. With that being said, Apple's customer services the last few years (nearly a decade) has been nothing less of atrocious. The David had all of a sudden switched roles and swiftly became the Goliath. You could no longer mail in your iPhones without paying $800.00 on a credit card, AppleCare really didn't seem to care anymore, and the lack of personal service in their stores was clearly became apparent as was their lack of wowing inspirational products. Suddenly, the customer became the enemy. How dare we bring our iPhones back because they're overheating or batteries are dying prematurely. Moreover, I've literally witnessed Apple retail employees arguing with elderly customers (on several occasions ) at the Deer Park, IL Apple Store basically inferring that they were liars. In fact, I dealt with it myself a few years back and swore I'd never purchase another Apple product for as long as I lived. I went on Apple strike, lol! Nevertheless, I hung in there knowing that it just couldn't be. "Really? Apple too?" I thought to myself. I know I was not alone because you can clearly see the rise in Microsoft consumers again. We were simply, fed up. When will these huge corporations realize that you're only as good as your worst employee? They should really take a lesson from Nordstrom. For the one menace or rotten apple that is going to take advantage and make false accusations just to get free gear, it's not worth risking the thousands of faithful fans you will lose because you put a bad taste in their mouth. I know I'm ranting, and I'm not the most proficient writer, but I think you're getting my point. Now to the good... Today I went in to the Deer Park, IL Apple Store to pick up my new Apple Watch 3 GPS w/cellular actually kind of grimacing because I highly dislike even having to go in there. However, to my surprise, I saw a lot of new happy faces, smiles, laughter, and a kind of very fluid fun energy that I was once accustomed to. I was quickly greeted with a kind smile from a young man that actually seemed to love it there. He hooked me up with a product specialist (Asha?) that was not only bleeding apple from her veins, but also seemed to have the (Apple culture)...can't really explain it but if you're an Apple Guy like me, you get it. lol! Needless to say we chatted a bit, she helped with another issue I had, and even believed I was who I said I was. LOL! When did Apple start hiring police officers? Like really? Asha was a breath of fresh air and what is going to keep someone like me who owns just about every Apple device known to man, coming back for more. Thank you to whomever revamped that store, it was much needed. I hated driving 20 minutes when I have MY Apple Store 3 minutes from my home. Moral of my story...we don't love your products Apple...we love the people who make your products, the dorks that will sit around and chat with you until there eyes fall out, the ones that will gladly take back or repair your device no questions asked. I was 5 minutes late for my appointment due to reasons beyond my control (traffic) and was turned away by quite the pompous door greeter, Matt. I understand policy is policy but the way this gentlemen handled himself would not merit a job as a bouncer for a bar. Time is limited as you well know based on your policy and I do not foresee when I will be able to go to another Apple store to obtain help with fixing my P.O.S. iPhone 4. So now I get to use this phone strictly as a tablet because my microphone for speaking barely works and thus no one can hear me. I had a good experience at this Apple. Wish l could make a 4.6 Star rather then the 4. There's always room for improvement. Heck I'm not perfect. I was quickly greeted as l walked in. I was so impressed by their service. I kept waiting for it to become difficult but it never did. They didn't make me feel dumb for not understanding iCloud either. I was worried about getting a new Verizon iPhone phone at Apple verse a Verizon store but it was a great decision. My trade in credit was applied instantly too. This place is terrible. First, I go in and they tell me I can't get a knew phone until my old one is backed up. That I have to pay the .99 a month for the extra ICloud storage. So I have to make another trip back to the store. Then I buy the phone now that I have extra storage. I am told several different times I would only be charged my monthly payment on my credit card. I decided to go though the Apple Pay program. So I look today and they charged me $90. When I call to ask because I don't see anything anywhere on why it would be that much. They tell me that's the full tax on the phone that I have to pay. WTF? Why wasn't I told that. I went over every aspect of my purchase on what is included, what's covered, ect. I am a college student and my Macbook pro charger broke right before finals week. I tried ordering a new one but the price was way out of my price range, so I had to order from elsewhere, which would take longer. Upon coming into the Apple store to see if I could just hangout and charge my computer for a little while (so I could get back to studying for finals!) I was told they weren't able to do that for me by an associate because they didn't have the correct charger needed upfront. The guy was not helpful and came off kind of rude actually. I left frustrated and ended up calling and asking to speak with the manager. I got the manager on the phone and explained my problem again asking if there is a way to come in and charge it for a little while. She was so nice and double checked to make sure they had the charger I needed upfront. They did. Hmmm... associate was wrong. When I came in she got me all set up and was super nice. She ended up going to the back and talking to her tech manager. He had an extra used charger for my Macbook version, and she ended up giving it to me for free! I thanked her and then laughed and told her that the review on Yelp just went from really bad to really good. So even though the experience started off really bad, the manager knew how to make it right. That is true customer service. read more

Even though it was busy, chaotic, and crowded the day I was there, there was always someone around to help you if you had any questions, and they were super helpful! Their only downfall was certain staff tended to talk only to my boyfriend and not directly to me (the person with the Mac), even though I was the one who asked the questions. I had only shopped here once and was happy with the service, so when I screwed up and left part of my charger for my MacBook at a downtown hotel the other day, I didn't hesitate to drop in here to buy a replacement. I know the technology changes fast, but I was surprised when the sales person had not seen my style of charger before -- the computer is only two years old! But he was great -- found a manager right away and within a few minutes they had me all fixed up. And they wouldn't charge me! Now that makes me a bigger fan than ever. read more

This Apple Store has great customer service. I walked in without an appointment. Someone got me all set up and checked in as a walk in and said it would be about a half hour wait. I went to Starbucks with my husband to wait. Got a text when it was almost my turn. Went back to the store and checked in for me appointment and was asked to wait at a table. I waited about another 5 minutes and was greeted by an associate to assist me with my phone issue. My phone is three years old so it had over 1000 charges and the battery was on it's last leg. The associate took me phone and was going to get me a new battery. All I needed to do was pay a fee and pick my Phone up before the end of the day and the repair takes about 2 hrs. Went back a few hours later they were unable to safely change my battery so they replaced my phone for the price of the repair fee. I am very satisfied with the service I received from the associates at this store. read more

I went in to exchange Apple USB cable. Apparently you have to see a technician in order to do so. I have never experienced worse customer service than what I encountered at this store. I waited for over an hour and walked out without making the exchange. I guess if I was making a purchase they would be more attentive. Absolutely horrid way to treat a customer. read more

Ok who named Jim gave me racist attitude i ever felt in US. As i'm asian i felt frustrated. When i ordered online website did not asked me if i need gift receipt. so when i pickup my purchase at store , i explained that my purchase is gift for someone and if i could get any kind of gift receipt. He tried to act like don't understand what i'm saying. Talking to me very loud like i'm deaf. And repeating what i just asked. All i ask is if i could get any paper gift receipt. And told him sorry if i have accent. After that he said he is not sure. then he left. after minutes later he come back and said he cannot give me receipt because it was online order. Again all i want is gift receipt. It is for someone. If It's not printable pls explain to me what if the person who received apple product for gift don't like the purchase? then he said he can give me gift receipt. and after maybe 20-30 seconds later he said he is not going to give me any receipt in a very odd way. he was like i will print you receipt then i'm not going to give you receipt. i was so confused. when i leave store he was laughing behind my back. My iPhone had a battery that was one of the defective ones so I waited outside on Saturday until the doors opened at 10am and was checked in right away. I sat and waited and waited and waited and waited. When I saw I'd been there nearly 75 minutes I looked around and noticed that NOBODY I walked in with was still there. I asked when I'd be next and was told "soon". I asked again after another 30 minutes and was told "it won't be long now". Meanwhile I'm asking people who came in long after me but were being attended to if they made an appointment and was told no. I finally said to the woman who had checked me in (Caroline- who was very nice and apologetic) that this was ridiculous and she said she doesn't know what happened but a glitch in the system must have prevented me from showing on their screen but she would now take me. Okay, but she said she remembered me as one who had walked in at 10:00 and since I kept looking at her and had already asked where I was in the queue, she should have caught on that something was wrong much earlier, no? At this point I was told it wouldn't take long and my phone would be brought to the back right away. I said something about it being 'not long' and the Apple employee standing next to Caroline injected himself into our conversation and insisted it wouldn't be long - even though he was helping someone else and had no clue what was wrong with my phone. This only got me MORE frustrated because I felt I was being double teamed and 'not long' is subjective. When I asked what 'not long' means - they said an hour. ARE YOU KIDDING??? After sitting for hours and seeing people come and go, an hour isn't 'not long'. Ten minutes is 'not long'. Caroline took my phone, then came back out and said he was working on it and it would be 45 minutes but maybe sooner. An hour later I was still waiting and asked AGAIN and she said she would check on it. Then she came out and said someone would bring it out and it would be about 10 more minutes. So not only was the 45 minutes not accurate - the "not long" wait of an hour wasn't accurate either. At this point I asked for the Manager. She went and got him and just as he arrived someone showed up with my phone. I had asked them to also check the port but since that looked okay I asked if he could check my cable and as he was leaving to test it I asked the Manager to step outside so we could talk. At first he said no, but I told him I was unhappy and was trying to be courteous in taking this out of earshot of other customers - so he came outside. NOTE: WTH was the "no" about? I'm older than dirt and don't look threatening. So after hearing my story he said that something must have happened, he doesn't know what, and the reason it took so long in the back was because they also run tests and only have two machines and it's possible those machines were in use when she brought the phone back, and it takes 30 minutes to run all the tests on a phone, etc. All of this just to swap out the battery. In the middle of this explanation the employee brought my cable out and told me it didn't work and that was why I wasn't getting a charge when I used it. I thanked him and he went back into the store. Now you would think that since I was so upset about being there almost FOUR HOURS through no fault of my own, that the Manager would say at that point, 'Hey, I'm so sorry! Let me give you a charging cable to replace the one that doesn't work since you were so put out and are clearly upset with us.' NOPE. A skilled Manager would have offered to do something but this guy wasn't skilled. Which makes me wonder if the people he's hiring are skilled. With consumers getting more and more upset by the rising cost of iPhones that now require buying extras if you want to use traditional earbuds, and no big advances in technology, you should probably be providing a WOW experience to customers in your stores. And I mean 'WOW, that was impressive!' instead of 'WOW, what a HORRIBLE experience!' Apple failed by not providing the store Manager enough training to be able to turn around a situation when a customer is upset. I walked away completely dissatisfied with the exchange. The store Manager failed by not teaching critical thinking skills to his staff so they'd be able to connect the dots and then be proactive....but worse, they weren't even REactive when I alerted them that everyone I walked in with was long gone and surely something was wrong. The customer shouldn't have to throw the red flag three times before action is taken. read more

I love this Apple store. We were lined up for the launch of the IPhone 5 and they were soooo nice. They came out to check on us every hour to make sure we were ok. In the morning they gave us water, hot chocolate, and coffee. They got us all pumped up for the launch. It was honestly the best launch of an Apple product I have attended. This store is much further than my Oakbrook Apple store, but it is worth it. I still love the Oakbrook store don't get me wrong :) read more

What a waste of time! Inconsiderate personnel. Have an iPhone Xs that is experiencing Ghost Touching and when setting up the appointment on the phone that rep said it's an EASY FIX just bring it in as is and they will get you taken care of right away. Well, as I get there they confirmed yes it's Ghost Touching and they will replace the screen for free. However, what they then said, after 30min of some additional diagnostic testing, they said given the seriousness of the work that needs to be done are you ok with losing all the data on the phone? Excuse me... Did you say am I ok with losing all the data? pictures? messages, etc.? He said yes - there is a likelihood of the guys in the back destroying your phone in the process so we would give you a new phone. So he said - you just backed it up, right? I said no. Now I will have to go through this all over again. The service people at Apple need to get there messaging straight. I just wasted more than an hour - to have to come back and do it all over again. The SSD in my 15'' macbook pro laptop was dead, so I sent it to the Apple Store in Deer Park, IL. The technician said that he can't do anything with it, and besides this SSD issue, the battery is swollen. So he suggested to send the laptop to a service center for repair, and suggested me to buy a $575 flat fee service, and in this way, as he said, Apple would fix every problem in my laptop, regardless of the final costs of changing parts, labor, etc. So I did what he said. Then, several days later, I got my laptop back. However, the "space" key of the keyboard is totally broken. They said they change the keyboard because they have to replace the battery. BUT WHY GIVE ME A BROKEN SPACE KEY AND A BROKEN KEYBOARD???????????????? So I guess this "NEW" battery is not new for sure, and this keyboard is even worse then what I had before. AND it costs me $600???????????? Other technicians tried to fix this space key issue on the day I picked up my laptop, but they didn't fix it. (We waited in the store for 30 min to get it fixed. And I thought it was fixed. But unfortunately when we got home and I started to use it, I realized that the corners of the space key don't work at all) I really don't want to waste more time on it, as I live in Chicago Loop (3-4 hour drive for a round-trip to Deer Park) and I need my laptop to work. "Glad" that I don't use this space key often. And right, they said they have to send this laptop out again to fix this space key problem (so two more trips??) Now I will have to schedule another appointment with the Genius bar to get this so-called "new keyboard" fixed! THIS IS JUST SO RIDICULOUS!VERY DISAPPOINTED AND DISSATISFIED!! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Never will return and seriously thinking of swithcing to galaxy. The guy who helped me made me feel stupid. I never leave reviews but hope someone reads this. I have gone in three times now and had my phone replaced. I paid 400 dollars for a new phone because I shattered the screen only to have it replaced with a non working phone and then getting it replaced again for a non working phone that now says no service.They had a two hour wait time so I came back only to be rushed off telling me he couldn't help me because my sim card. He didn't want to help me cause they were closing soon. He told me to call sprint. FYI I spoke to spring who told me there is technically something wrong with the device which I tried explaining to him but would not listen and made me feel dumb. He then told a different guy in front of me that I was trying to get my phone fixed 15 mins before close time. I told them I would leave if they were unwilling to help and wanted to go home and i would just go another day without a phone. Don't come here. They just give you refurbished phones anyways. read more
