However the name of the establishment is "Apple Dumplings" but they were out of apple dumplings lol. Seems like your namesake should never run out! Atmosphere: cafe style. The day we were there the air conditioner went out but we still stayed, it wasn't too unbearable. I will not take any stars off for this because it was an uncontrollable mechanical issue. This hole in the wall is simply superb. The bread is freshly baked with each slice individually toasted, and the meats are flavorful, tender and juicy. The tomato basil and tortilla soups we had were simple, subtle, but flavorful. We had a healthy salad, which is hard to find in Rockport. The apple tart we had for desert was baked to perfection. This is the best lunch restaurant we've found in Rockport at any price. I would typically put beach food up there with amusement park food and Las Vegas food (that it has to be graded on a happy-to-be-here curve to fare well), but the Apple Dumpling Deli would be great anywhere. Small and unspectacular to look at, this place fills a void in Rockport. I went here just to find a solution to my 5 year old's desire to try a "hot sandwich" at a restaurant. There are various kinds of cafe-style sandwiches and salads, and all of them are really good! The bread is flavorful, the portions are fair, and there is a lot of variety! The one gripe is that the coffee is squarely in the territory of bad. Just an airpot of brew that barely qualifies as coffee, in a paper cup, with some packets of dry creamer. If they had better coffee, I'd probably spend an hour and a half here. The Apple Dumpling(their namesake dessert) is one of the best desserts in Rockport. read more

Looking for a quick bite. Grandma ordered the 1/2 sandwich & 1/2 salad- I had the 1/2 sandwich & soup. The tomato basil soup was okay, but the sandwiches were amazing. The BLT salad was heavy on the B, but who could complain about that??? The bread was either made in house or from somewhere local because it was thick cut, fresh, and delicious. We got a grilled cheese for the baby. The grilled cheese was so-so, but my son's behavior was also so-so. I felt like they were under staffed, but the food and relaxed atmosphere more than made up for the busy wait staff. It was close to closing on Saturday, so they sent us home with some peach hand pies and some blondies... Highly recommended- we will definitely be back! read more

We came in for lunch around twelve and erre immediately served bread and drinks. Which was nice considering the the extremely hot weather. The inside is sorta cute, in an old fashioned way. It's a little dirty, but in our ten years in Rockport it has always been busy. Pretty quickly a server came to take our order. We began to order and had to repeat ourselves multiple times because he wasn't listening. We though nothing of it until we needed to order a meal for my younger sister who has food allergies. We asked if he knew it could ask if their bread had eggs or nuts because she wanted a Turkey sandwich. He said he didn't know, and would give her the sandwich without bread. My mom repeat her question about asking the kitchen to check the ingredients. He repeated the order for turkey slices with tomato and lettuce. She asked him nicely to go check with the kitchen or bring the packaging and she could read it. He muttered something that we couldn't hear and became very angry. He stomped off to the kitchen and came back less that thirty seconds later. At this point my friend and I were exchanging looks trying to figure out what was happening. My mother was shocked. To make it worse, the whole restaurant was staring at us. One lady mouthed to me to ask if we were alright, I simply shrugged. The man continued to tell us that they typically keep their packaging but currently didn't have the packaging and that they typically have a allergy friendly menu but not today. How does that make sense? My mom told him to put in our order and that she would figure out something else for my sister. As soon as he left the table, my friend and I expressed our disinterest in eating there. We told the kitchen to cancel our order and we payed for our drinks. We had to wait there for my dad to pick us up. The whole time we sat there, the man stared at us. Had my dad been there, that would have gone a whole lot differently. His rage at a child for having uncontrollable food allergies was insane. He made my mother uncharacteristicly silent. We have had people who don't understand food allergies treat us less than well, but never has anyone ever blamed my sister. He was acting like she was his own personal burden. Apple Dumpling's used to be one of our favorite restaurants in the Rockport area. I can tell you that we will certainly never go back. The moral of this story is that Apple Dumpling is not allergy friendly, unless your not a well behaved twelve year old who just wanted a sandwich. P.S. Tropical Smoothie Cafe is wonderful with food allergies. Also, their food is amazing. read more

He lost 1/2 our table's order, so we didn't all get our food together....was disrespectful towards us and others waiting for him to take their order. I have been eating the amazing baked potato soup for over 7 years, yes, it is obvious there are new owners, the soup I ordered was not edible, tasteless. We always stop in for lunch at least once when we are in Rockport. The huge sandwiches on homemade bread are delicious and filling. We also love the soups, salads and homemade desserts. Call ahead and ask them to make an extra loaf of bread to take home. Our favorite is the sourdough. Visited Rockport for my first time with some family. Apple Dumpling Deli was recommended to us and it was better than advertised. I had the Colby's Bold Chicken salad and it was the best chicken salad I've ever had. I went back the next day to get another, but they are closed on Sundays.
