Well, they can't all be winners. We've had some really fun meals on this Port A trip but cannot…read morerecommend Kody's to you in any possible way. The restaurant itself is pretty dingy, it's basically a dive bar that serves food. Despite that it was filled with unattended children running wild which, of course, isn't really the restaurant's fault. You arrive and you wait in a haphazard line to order. There is ONE lady working behind the counter who is the cashier and the lone bartender and the barback running the dishwasher and everything else. It's beyond stupid - it basically makes those wanting food feel like second class customers whereas people drinking beers at the bar get all of the priority. If they had a dedicated cashier, they could run twice the volume. This isn't a cute peculiar island type thing - it's infuriating in its inefficiency. We arrived at 7:30 and waited just over 45 minutes to order, standing in an increasingly disgruntled line the whole time. There were probably 8 groups in front of us to order so that should give you an idea of how slow it was running. By the time we got to the front they were out of about half of the things on the menu despite advertising that they serve food later than anyone else on the island. I guess if you get there after 8 PM you just have to have what's left? We ordered the garlic fish, which we had heard was fantastic. It was fine, I guess, but absolutely not worth the hassle. Port Aransas is the kind of town where you can feel good about supporting local places that work hard to earn your business. This isn't one of them, everyone seemed kind of annoyed that people were there, especially the cashier person. You can do better by eating elsewhere, and should.

You walk in and order at the counter then take a seat and wait for your food. I ordered the Duke Ellington and that ricotta pancake was AMAZING! it has a hint of lemon in it and I will be thinking about it all week. The bacon and eggs were cooked the way I like them. Over medium and crispy bacon. The California Crab Cake was soooo good. My fiancé got that and I too and bite and asked for a second bit because it was so good. The red potatoes as the side were good as well. I got the Hester Latte and I really enjoyed it. The triple coconut was too sweet for us but it tasted good.

I stopped in for brunch on a Saturday morning and was really surprised by the crowds, and the atmosphere of the restaurant. It reminded a lot of B Matthew's in Savannah, which if you know, is a good thing! I initially went for the croissants based on the recommendation, but ordered the Biscuits with Gravy in addition to a loaf of sourdough, a croissant, and a few back to school theme cookies to bring onto the kids! The biscuits and gravy was phenomenal, and I really liked how they added scrambled eggs to top them. This is something I've never seen before and the result was great! As far as the bakery items (croissant, sourdough, and cookies) I feel like my review won't do them justice because they weren't eaten until I got home a few days later. Bottom line, I will be stopping in at Hester's every time I visit Corpus going forward. A definitely must try!
