The Manhattan
Shane H.

New York Bagel in Ferndale, MI was soooooooooooo good. From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. There is always a line, and that alone tells you how good this place is. They truly have options for everyone, even our furry friends, which I loved. I had the Manhattan on a parmesan bagel and it was perfectly portioned and absolutely delicious. Fresh, flavorful, and worth every minute of the wait. I will definitely be back.

I love this place small always pretty packed open til 3pm. But fresh fresh fresh. Every bite every coffee i always get the dozen and pick a variety. The staff is super nice even though it gets hectic In there .

Lox Sandwich on an everything bagel

I've never had a bad experience here. It's a small little shop, but they have the BEST bagels. The people working are always friendly and inviting. My favorite things on the menu are the lox sandwich on a plain bagel with tomatoes, onions, and capers. My close second is a cinnamon sugar bagel with walnut raisin cream cheese (which, sadly, I don't think they always have). And, if I'm feeling more of a lunch vibe, I love the East Side Veggie sandwich. So good. This place tends to get busy, so I find it best to order online and pick up at the window. It's the easiest way to ensure you're not waiting around for too long!

I've been here quite a few times now and every single time I get the lox sandwich because it is THAT good! They're always busy in there, but the workers are always patient and helpful when it comes to asking questions; great customer service. The bagels are always fresh. I would recommend New York Bagel every time!

Salt bagel with egg and sausage

New York Bagel has been a staple in Ferndale for as long as I can remember and it continues to meet expectations. I have gotten a variety of things from this bagel shop and they're all good from their salt sticks, to their house made cream cheeses, to their deli sandwiches. But my favorite is an egg, sausage and cheese sandwich. As always it was cooked well, cheese had a nice kick, and the bagel was toasted to perfection. I only took off a star because the new staff wasn't great today. My staff member didn't smile at all, and was a little rude when asking me to repeat myself because she couldn't hear me. Otherwise I would've given another star. But overall I love New York Bagel, and we will be back next weekend.

Wow I used to work here when I was in high school and let me tell you. This is one place I'm thrilled NEVER changed! Same delicious fresh bagels and cream cheese. Was so excited to stop here to get bagels for me and the family before brunch. Wish they had more hoodies. Would've loved to grab one before heading back to California. Next trip. Also, love they have a website and that you have the option to preorder!

This place is our go to bagel shop! We also love their deli sandwiches! So delicious!

Bagel sandwich: ham, egg, cheddar

Ordered online and used the pickup window on the right side of the building. They were a bit slow to notice people were standing out there. Not sure if it's only walk-up or if you can also do a drive-thru. I got a breakfast sandwich with egg, cheddar, and ham. I also chose a rosemary salt bagel but I think they maybe given me a plain one. No flavors of salt or rosemary whatsoever. My older sis got an everything bagel with cream cheese which she enjoyed! My other sister got a breakfads sandwich with egg, cheddar, sundried tomato cream cheese and Canadian bacon. She chose the bialy. We got our bagels toasted and sliced. Pretty good! They do have quite a bit of options to add to your bagel and different kinds of cream cheese. Overall, tasty bagels! And a good price too!

The only authentic New York bagels in the area. So very appropriately named. I buy them by the baker's dozen. They freeze well.

So, I didn't register, but of course I made a purchase well, purchases. I bought 1 oatmeal raisin cookie, 1 chocolate cupcake, 2 Blake's donuts annnnd 1 scoop of butter pecan ice cream in a waffle cone. It was very nice when I walked in, the space was clean, the deliciousness was beautifully displayed. It was good to see so many of Blake's Apple Orchard items for sale here. It was kind of quiet, well after the family (father? and 2 children left) nice place to sit and enjoy your goodies, scroll, etc. When I came on Yelp to write my review, I noticed there's one in Grosse Pointe, MI. Glad to know there's one closer that I can return to visit. Ohh, I almost forgot, the ice cream was Really good, I didn't taste like a diet fail at all. The Blake's donut, well you know... aren't they all good? The cupcake was light and the icing was perfect. Now, let me tell you about their oatmeal raisin cookie (my favorite by the way) Man, was that cookie good. All of the goodies were excellent. Nothing was too sweet or off. I really enjoyed everything purchased. You gotta go!!!

Updating my review as I finally got some of the tiramisu that I longed for after my initial review…read more My review still stands. 5 stars. 10/10 experience. Top notch customer service. Delightful treats and local goods. I was able to snag one of the tiramisu tins before Christmas time. No, it was not for me to share with friends and family for Christmas, it was literally just for me, myself, and I. It took me a full week to eat it, and it was absolutely delightful from the first bite all the way to the last. I can't wait for these to come back - this time I just might consider sharing with friends and family.

Looks interesting. I hope it's worth the $85 spent…read more My three chocolate croissants were forgotten the first round. I had to go back to go get my three croissants that I wanted ffirst visit. I got three loaves of the poppyseed, lemon bread, three chocolate chunk, banana bread, coffee cake, two breakfast sandwiches and three chocolate croissants. $64 + $19.50 The croissant loaf looks interesting, it' comprises of six croissant dough to make the loaf. The breakfast sandwich biscuit is quite good. The biscuit is a bit dry, but still flaky. The egg is light and fluffy and thick too. The coffee cake, lemon poppy seed, breakfast sandwich and chocolate croissant were all yummy. The lemon iced frosting is prominent and good. Not a huge fan of the nuts. The chocolate croissant is really good. Chunky blocks of chocolate. The croissant is super light and flaky. The Coffee cake is crumbly, slightly dry, but great with tea or coffee. The chocolate chunk is just okay, not my jam.

Dutch Girl Donuts is more than just a donut shop -- it's a straight-up Detroit institution. If…read moreyou're from here, you already know. That bright sign on Woodward isn't just a place to grab a dozen; it's part of the city's DNA. Growing up, my grandmother went there all the time. And when I say all the time, I mean ALL the time. Weekends, random afternoons, "just because" mornings -- Dutch Girl was the move. Some of my favorite childhood memories are walking in and being hit with that sweet, warm smell of fresh donuts and seeing the cases stacked with every kind you could imagine. It felt like magic as a kid. The donuts themselves? Classic, no-frills, done-right Detroit goodness. Soft, fresh, and generously glazed or filled -- the kind of donuts that don't try to be trendy or over-the-top. They don't need to. They've been holding it down for generations. That's the beauty of a true staple: consistency. You always knew exactly what you were getting, and it was always good. If I'm being honest, the only reason I'm not rushing there now is because I had SO many of their donuts growing up that I might have maxed out my lifetime quota . When you've had that much of something, you need a little break. But that doesn't take away from what they are to the city. Dutch Girl Donuts represents Detroit pride -- resilience, tradition, and community. It's one of those places that connects generations. My grandmother loved it, I grew up on it, and new families are still making memories there today. In a city that's all about loyalty and roots, Dutch Girl stands tall. Forever a Detroit classic.
