Their service sucks. I was recently in the store to get the cracked-screen on the iPad addressed. There are no impact marks on the device and it was not dropped or banged on anything. They acted like they were doing me a huge favor by replacing the iPad, and very condescendingly told me that it was the last time they would ever do so. I reminded that I'm a long-time Apple customer and did nothing wrong. When I said that, the guy helping me at the Genius Bar basically just turned around and left me sitting there. I was amazed at the terrible attitudes in the store. Take my advice, go to VA if you need service. read more

Excellent service!!!! I know Apple doesn't normally have the best service but this one was amazing! I walked in and was out within 10 minutes. I bought a pink phone cord and it has lasted forever! I made an appointment to have my MacBook Pro checked after I visited a week ago and got absolutely no help. I knew that chances were I would have to buy a new one, but hoped mine could get fixed. I was early to the appointment so I had to wait until my hour, when my time came they made me wait for 20 minutes and after they told me that they were 3 (three) hours behind!!!!!!!!! And that If I wanted I could sit and wait!! Or try another apple store and get lucky! Terrible service!!! Would not recommend it by any chance!! read more

I went in to purchase a phone charger for my wife's IPhone. I was sold the wall charger and the USB cable. When I got home it turned out the the phone charger is a complete kit which includes the USB cable. So what should have been a $25 purchase was made a $50 purchase. They did accept the return no problem. I just have issues with sales people not knowing the products they are selling. I suppose Apple sells itself these days and the sales people do not need to be trained. Maybe I should have known, but I knew enough to ask the question, I just got bum scoop. My final problem that the staff was in small groups talking to one another while customers fended for themselves. It was strange when i just wanted to dash in and dash out. read more

This place is a mess. Too many useless salefolk and not nearly enough technicians who can actually help people. If you don't feel like reading my rant, the takeaway is to not even bother with this place unless you're willing to wait a week for an appointment first. (DISCLAIMER: I never got to a technician, so I'm assuming they can actually help people. There's a good chance that's not true). Apple Care arranged for me to exchange a broken item and told me to just stop in, that it would be ready to go. Sounds simple enough... except that no one at the store knows what they're doing. The store staff insisted that I needed an appointment and refused to exchange the product, saying the may not even have a replacement in stock (though they never checked). They also wouldn't let me drop off the broken item because (the initial excuse) a technician had to check it in and they were all busy (which wasn't 100% true - at least four were waiting for appointments that were running late and there was a different store manager who had been a technician but chose to roam the store rather than be of assistance). She later changed the excuse to them not wanting to be liable for it. ANYWAY. A store manager told me that I could call Apple Care (because, according to her, they didn't enter the right info online) to check in the item remotely and she assigned THREE staff to oversee the phone call. Two quickly lost interest and the third turned the phone over to me anyway. Apple Care insisted it had been entered correctly the first time but duplicated the request anyway. After I hang up, the lone staffer told me it would take 24-hours for the request to go through and refused to even check for the request. Re-enter the manager. She confirmed that the info was in the system (twice) but reverted back to the only-technicians-can-check-in-items story. When I told her that Apple Care said they had taken care of it, she asked the lone staffer what Apple Care said, and his excuse, of course, was that he wasn't actually on the phone with them. Why have ME call them if me parroting Apple Care isn't reliable enough?? In short, there was no way around scheduling an appointment with a technician (even though she had told me differently maybe 30 min earlier). And the appointments were booked up for a week. The alternatives were to take off work for an appointment or to call Apple Care back and set up a mail-in exchange. Guess which was more efficient. Over an hour of my life wasted, but at least now I know never go to go back to this store again. Funny aside - I got to know my Apple Care rep pretty well, and he was literally making fun of this store's incompetence by the time HE sorted everything out. read more

Two years lost use of a perfectly good working MacBook Pro! My friend Justine shows me her borrowed aged macbook 13inch. I say what happened to your nice MacBook Pro 15? She showed it to me in the bottom of her closet in a box. She says it does not work. She says the power cord broke off in it and she took it in the the Geogetown Apple store to see what the problem was and rather then look at the power adapter, they took off the back cover and inspected it. They said there were signs of water damage and they would have to replace the mother board. She said it was working fine, the the power cord broke, and it worked up until the battery died. They said they could do no more and gave her an estimate of $1200-1400. I said what about the power cord, but they insisted thats what had to be done. Had the just dug out the little plastic piece of the power connector out of the receptical, and plugged in a power supply they had there, they would have seen it would boot right up, problem solved! I say to her, the recepical looks fine, she says yes, i pulled out the little broke piece. I went on amazon and ordered a $18.50 powersupply with amazon prime, and it arrived this afternoon. I plugged it in, and it booted right up. First order of business , go on to Yelp and warn people to stay away from the Georgetown Apple Store. On a positive note, ive been wanting to learn Mac, so it was a excuse to try and fix this thing (including researching how to replace logic boards) . Maybe I should put in an application as a technician at that Apple Store, cuz this 1st time MAC user at least has something they don't have there, Some Commen Sense ! read more

This past Saturday I brought in my iPhone to have the cracked screen replaced. I had previously made an Genius Bar appointment online, where I selected that I had a cracked screen. I don't live near Georgetown, so it's a bit of a trek (which brings up another point: The fact that Washington DC only has a single Apple Store, with the next closest in Pentagon City and Bethesda). Anyways, when I arrived they told me that their machine to fix cracked screens was broken. They said the machine at the Pentagon City store was also broken. I asked why they didn't bother to inform me in advance that the machine was down since, again, my appointment was specifically for fixing a cracked screen. They had no explanation. Instead, they said the machine would "definitely" be up and running on Monday. I decided to try my luck on Tuesday and, lo and behold, the machine is still broken. I'm a pretty easygoing person, but needless to say this was extremely frustrating. I once again asked why they had failed to inform me in advance that the machine was still down. No explanation. I asked to speak with the manager. I told him it seems more than fair that they replace the screen for free--or at least at a discounted price--given my troubles (the four Ubers I took to and from the store cost about $40). He apologized but said that wasn't possible. I'm a longtime Apple customer and have generally been happy with the service. However, this experience was extremely disappointing. I understand that machines break. I also understand that machines may be broken longer than anticipated. It happens. I'm a reasonable person. But at least make an effort to give your customers advanced notice to save them a trip. And if you're not going to do that, the repairs should be on the house, or at the very least discounted. Going to try my luck at another Apple Store when I make my third attempt to get my screen repaired. read more

I had an appointment, and still had to wait a few minutes. This would have been okay, except that then I got paired with Johnny at the genius bar who was acting like the thought of customer service put his tighty whiteys in a twist. My mac won't start at all, and I needed an invoice to send to the insurance company (long story involving the theft and return of my computer). I wanted to know if they could copy my hard drive in-store, and he expressionlessly says "No". ... I wait. Then he says, after a pause, "That's not our job. You're supposed to have everything backed up before you come." After further questions and further eye rolls from this guy, I learn that they can send your computer out and do that. Why this dude wanted to insert some of his own commentary rather than pretend to be helpful and actually provide me with information, I don't know. Lest you think I misread the situation, another girl is sent to the spot next to me at the counter, and he says, "What's up" to her in literally a complete deadpan. Girl and I exchange looks. After "answering" her questions in monosyllables, he goes to the back, and girl says to me, "wow, this guy is acting like a total dick." So it wasn't just me. Maybe he saw us talking and looking at him, because he started being very mildly more helpful after that. But not much. I did get my invoice, so at least I got what I came for, but I'm not going back to that store when I buy my new laptop. read more

I went in to upgrade my iPhone after accidentally smashing it, and the emotional satisfaction I got from my pleasant interactions with the staff lifted my terrible mood and further solidified that i'll be a Mac forever - it's a way of life. read more

This store is AWFUL. I went there for a simple pick up of an accessory I had ordered online. I thought this would be a nice store since it is located in Georgetown. It was dirty and the employees were uniformly rude and unhelpful. It's an extremely inefficient operation with zero focus on customer service. Service here was so quick and the staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. I stopped by with a colleague to get a MacBook looked at. We were taken care of very quickly and were able to get the whole thing replaced the very next day. We could have walked away with the brand new one immediately, but we did not yet receive approval for the charges (purchase of the new one and the refund for the other would post within a few days). The space was wide open, and I loved the skylights. Will definitely be the shop to stop at for all of my Apple needs. read more

I brought my MacBook Pro in to have the keyboard replaced due to an issue that has apparently been appearing in MacBooks and other Apple devices from 2016 and later. Happily, because it is a manufacturing flaw, I was told the repair would not cost me anything and I was quoted a 72 hour turn around. Five days later, after receiving no communication, I called to inquire about the progress and was told the repair was not finished yet and they could not give me an estimate as to when it would be completed. The employee I spoke to was rude and unsympathetic, often cutting me off and speaking very harshly, which was confusing and disheartening. I have always loved my Apple products, but this interaction has made me think twice about the company. I'm definitely never going back to Apple Georgetown if I can help it. read more

On September 19 2019 me and my bestfriend walked into apple store in georgetown she had a simple question about her air pods she was given 3 different responses and 1 was very insulting to her stating that she had earwax on her airpods she asked for a manager the manager came over and told a fib that she didnt have airpods so she didnt know but in reality she did have airpods the manager was very unprofessional when it came down to dealing with the situation we have apple products so we really dont waste people time as a customer i dont think we will ever come back to this apple store read more

Poor service. Didn't even have a tech look at my phone simply said we have to ship it off. Didn't replace it either like they usually do. The reps were not knowledgeable at all. Couldn't explain what was going on at all. All I wanted was an explanation and he was like we can only guess and assume what we they're going to do with your phone. After making an appointment to have my screen repaired, I showed up only to be told to sit and wait. They forgot about me and so after an hour I approached a sales associate who at least was honest enough to admit they'd forgotten. After I turned in my phone, they told me it would take three hours to repair instead of one "because they'd had a huge rush of walk-ins over the last hour". Not worth having an iPhone when repairs are this difficult. read more

Tried to replace my iPhone 7 case which is already falling apart (under a year!). I had the order history in my email and linked to my Apple account which shows receipt of purchase. Yet somehow they couldn't find it in their system. The CC I used was old and I couldn't remember the number. Moral of the story: keep your paper receipt because if you try to go digital you're SOL. read more

Don't waste your time going there. If you are 10 minutes late, they will tell you to reschedule... If you are 10 minutes too early... you still wait for 45 minutes until you insist. After 4 years, I can tell that THIS store is just the worst ever. People at Clarendon or Pentagon Row stores clearly take care of you better! read more

I normally don't write a review unless a place either completely impresses me or my experience was completely terrible and beyond redemption. This review reflects the latter. I've visited and purchased merchandise from the Apple stores in the area and in NYC so I have a certain expectation when I walk into one of these places. This past week I visited the Georgetown store twice (first to buy a white iPhone and the second to buy the new MacBook Air). I know that the stores are usually fairly busy so I always do my product research before I go in. I have been an Apple user for over a decade and fairly familiar with their technology. I walked into the store at 7:00PM and all the employees were busy so I decided to wait and browse a bit. After about 10 minutes without anyone other than the security guard acknowledging I approached a sales person who was talking to a group of kids (whom I later assessed and he confirmed were his friends waiting for him to get off work). I said, "Sorry to interrupt but when you get a chance I'd like to buy a 16gb white CDMA iPhone4." He said he would be with me in a sec so I waited. Now any sales person(especially one just simply holding court with his friends) would have recognize a quick sale (and commission?), instead he continued to converse with his friend although he sent someone else over to help me. However this person didn't know a thing about the product and he also claimed he would have it brought out for me. I waited another 15 minutes before asking about the status of the iPhone. The original person I approached told me the runners were out on a break so he's not sure why the other person thought someone was bringing it up. BTW throughout this time I was watching other customers to assess their experience. An elderly couple and another young professional seemed to be experiencing the same difficulties I was. After another 20 minutes the iPhone finally came. What I thought would be a 15-30 minute transaction took over an hour and half. A few days later I needed a new laptop and had decided on the 13in Air. I was determined to have a good experience and at first was off to a good start. I was greeted at the door by a sales girl. I gave her the specs of the Air I wanted and she began processing the order. At this point I was happy so I decided I would buy more items and if she's working on commission then I would be rewarding her. At the very least she would be doinga great job upselling for her employer. I asked her for any accessories or peripherals she would recommend. Even after some coaxing she had no suggestions. I bought a case and some other items anyway. When it came time to pay she didnt know how to process the payment. After 2 managers finally showed her how she was able to do it and walked away. I stood there as I was not sure our transaction was complete. She came back 5 minutes later and asked if I needed anything else. I said, "well what about the stuff I bought and is the transaction through?" With a smile she said, "oh yes, of course. Sorry about that." I said, "no worries" as she handed me the 4 products I bought. I then asked for bag. Apple would better served if they had self service stores/check out lines like many grocery stores. They should fire (or at least stop using the term) geniuses. read more

So relived! I was in the DC area for work this past week and was experiencing some issues with my iPhone 8. I walked in and was greeted and helped by Nicole. She not only resolved the problem I had originally come in for - not being able to send or receive email - but also showed me so many cool features and short cuts I hadn't known about. I visited the store on 27 July to get a in operable iPhone 6 Plus fixed. I met with Genius Bar technician Brandon who took the time to run diagnostics on the phone, ensure set-up was correct, etc. since he couldn't figure out what was wrong with the phone he gave me a new one. Yep, gave me a new phone right then and there! Unbelievable!! He then took the Time to transfer all of my information from my old phone to this new phone, set up the phone for me and answer some basic questions that I had regarding the general operation of the phone. I was a happy customer! On the way out of the store I decided to purchase a screen shieId for the phone. I picked the screen shield that I wanted from the shelf and made my way to the nearest Apple employee. The employee I encountered happened to be the store manager; I informed him that I wanted to purchase the screen shield and I wanted someone to place it on my phone for me. He stopped what he was doing and assisted me! He put the screen shield on my phone, cleaned the phone, and gave me a microfiber cleaning cloth for future use. While he was doing this I mentioned how happy I was with the great customer service I received from Genius Bar Brandon and others I encountered at the store. After hearing this he waived the price of the screen shield ($35). Yep I got a free screen shield! Again, unbelievable! Bottom line, everyone I encountered at the store was professional, courteous & patient. I was in and out of the store quickly and had a fantastic experience. Great customer service! read more

Bought a brand new phone from At&T Iphone 6s when it came out. First time the email was not working right, IT was working fine on my iphone5. when i went there, they told me to reset everything. Well, i did. same problem again. then i had to go back there again, they exchanged it to another phone. Everything starts to work fine, except this time it was the camera. because i didn't have time to go back right away, i waited about a month and then went back, they gave me a run around.. i paid almost $700 dollars for a phone that does not work. finially they exchanged it after like 1 hour of waiting time and talking to the manager. it's frustrating. read more

This store is incredible and absolutely huge, exactly how all Apple stores should be since they are always super busy and crowded, no matter the time or the day. It's got to be the biggest Apple store I've been in -- well, maybe second to the one in the Meatpacking District in Manhattan. Anyhow, the store is incredibly long and has incredibly high ceilings, so much to the effect that you think you are walking into some hip nightclub at 2pm in the afternoon (in my case). There are tables and tables of products to play on, so even if it is super crowded you should still be able to find a machine to play with. There are also tons of employees wearing bright red shirts so you know exactly who to ask for help, direction, etc. Love this store. Every Apple store should follow the Georgetown Store's business and architectural model. read more

I'm always skeptical about stores/people in Georgetown. But let me tell you, this is the best Apple store I've come across. One of the managers, Ivonne went ABOVE & beyond to help my boyfriend and I, when no other store in the area would even offer to help us. We literally called/visited every store in the area.
