I'm so done with is place. Each experience seems to get slower and worse. I'll be doing all my purchasing online now. It's worth a small shipping fee to avoid the hassle and incompetent-ness of this location. The worst was today's visit - I just wanted a headphone splitter for my iPad so my fiancé and I could watch movies on flights. Easy enough...until you try to checkout. In my last review, I mentioned how checking out here is the most frustrating thing ever. Today, it was worse. Apparently, they have a new checkout app where you can check yourself out. We didn't know this, and brought our product up to an associate to pay, since there is no central pay station (which still ticks me off). He told us all the sales people were in a meeting (!!!) and we'd have to check ourselves out. Problem is, you need an iPhone 4S to do this. Luckily my fiancé had one, so she downloaded the app which took 2 minutes. Then she had to log in, scan the product, and bring up the total. When she went to pay (which charges to your iTunes account apparently), it kept saying there was a server issue. We were both starting to get pissed, all the while the guy was just standing next to us. I finally told my fiancé "the hell with it, let's go home and buy it online if they can't help us here". Suddenly, the guy had a payment device and was able to take my card, swipe it, and sent me a receipt like a normal Apple Store purchase. Seriously, was this guy that lazy that he had this device the whole time and just told us to go through the pain of the app when it took 5x as long as his simply swiping my credit card?? Seriously, Apple, I know you're trying to be cool and high tech, I get it...but you've turned your stores in to a unreliable, frustrating, inefficient moron-zone. I'll do my best to avoid ever stepping inside another Apple Store anywhere. read more

Now that I'm a Yelp employee, I try and not use the word "clusterf***", but that's typically what I imagine when I think of going to an Apple Store. However, on my last visit I was out in Leawood and visited this location for the first time. And let me tell you, the experience was the opposite of a CF, which for an apple store is very impressive, indeed! Like a dummy I dropped my iPhone, and shattered the back glass. This simply WOULD NOT DO and I drove straight to the closest location, ready to give them my left hand or whatever it costs to repair Apple devices. Also I was annoyed b/c I figured this meant I would have to miss upcoming meetings. None of this happened. But let's stop praising The Apple Store for not sucking, let's talk about how they were awesome! I go in, and the place is packed. Within seconds I have somebody come up and ask me how I'm doing. I simply show them my phone, holding back the tears, and he directs me to somebody else, who I guess is the Genius scheduler? She says they have no regular openings until the next day, but to hold on and she'd check for cancellations. What do you know, there was one in 30 minutes! I grab a coffee next door, come back and a friendly man takes away my baby, promising to put him back together again. In the meantime, i decide to play with an iPad Mini, and another associate and I have an in-depth conversation. I want to see a couple of apps and how they work on the Mini, and she logs into her PERSONAL Apple account so that we can download them. This whole time I have been incredibly upfront that I wasn't going to buy one b/c I was holding out hope on getting one as a gift. This didn't matter to her one bit, she just wanted to talk shop, and I was happy to oblige. That is, until my phone doctor came out. My iPhone was good as new! As I cradled it and promised to be a better, more attentive parent, he rang me up. Because I got Apple Care, it was like $30! SO AWESOME! I get to keep my hand. Everybody was fast, friendly, knowledgeable and just cool. This store has the whole Apple experience down to a science, something that has been lacking in other locations. Good job. My Macbook is old, I'd admit that. It's worked until now and I've had no complaints. I went in the first time and realized you had to make an "appointment" and I could be put on a wait list. Waited an hour and literally went two doors down to go to the bathroom (no bathroom there) and my name was called and I went to the back of the list. Coudln't have been gone for more than four minutes. Give a guy a grace period. I had been standing around for an hour. Spoke with a manager and no budging. I give up and go over to Trader Joe's and make an appointment for a few hours later. They then say my Mac is "vintage" and it will cost a few hundred dollars just to take a look at it. I thought service was free here. Arrrgh. The Genius (seriously, they call themselves that) offered me a few suggestions and sent me on my way with a suggestion of a new machine. That was helpful. Generally when I've gone in there for help I have trouble finding the right person to talk to and you have no personal space in the store. You have to stand the whole time and tell everyone your woes right between the kids playing on the iPads. Everytime I go in I hear people complaining. Ironically I don't hear this at the smaller Plaza store. They've always been helpful and will give you a grace period if you step out. They still have the issue with the personal space as you are really cramped in this store. However it just feels more professional. The staff at the Leawood store just doesn't seem experienced an the turnover is huge there. read more

After reading other reviews, I walked in a little too prepared to request service for my MacBook under the Keyboard Service Program. I made an appointment and arrive fifteen minutes early--they were ready for me right on time. I explained that several keys would double type and other keys would not respond at all and that I understood my laptop was covered because of the model listing on Apple's Keyboard Service Program. The gentleman working with me promptly reviewed and replicated my issues and set me up to send off my laptop for the free repairs (new keyboard, trackpad and battery -- worth $470). I brought it in on a Monday afternoon, didn't pay a dime, and had it back in my hands via UPS three days later! read more

The drive up service doesn't work at all, no one is addressing the issue and the mall cop who stands at the door is rude and unprofessional. I came in with a question about the drive up service he and started talking over me to tell me to stand in line. Like can I at least finish my sentence before you start acting all self important? You could have easily said that you couldn't help with my question but someone would be with me shortly. That would be the kind of service I expect from an Apple store. If there is going be l someone interacting with guests at the door AT LEAST make sure they are treating guests with respect. read more

My poor old MacBook was acting up so I headed to the Apple Store. It was a Saturday around 11:30 in December, so of course it was packed!! I was greeted pretty quickly when I arrived and checked in with a staff member. An appointment was available an hour after I arrived, so I would say I was pretty lucky. When I returned for my appointment I met with a "Genius" who started the diagnosis process. My MacBook was in safe mode and would not log in. They did their magic, logged on, and diagnosed! It had something to do with the shift key and I needed a new keyboard installed. They said it was possible it would be finished over the weekend, but 5 days at the most. I called on Monday evening to check-in, and they said the repair was finished and they were doing diagnostics to make sure the fix was successful. My biggest complaint is that there is an automated system when you call the Leawood number, and it is super annoying. It takes a few minutes to actually speak with a real person. When I call a location number, I expect a real person to answer the phone. But anyway, I called shortly before they were to close, and they told me I could go pick it up! I met with an employee to pay for my repair, around $135. I'm not sure if this price is comparable to say, Geek Squad at BestBuy...but it didn't seem outrageous to me. And I would say 3 days is pretty good for a repair. I always have been satisfied with Apple, both their products and employees! read more

Today an associate helped me place an in-store order for pickup for the new PowerBeats Pro Ivory, then I went shopping for a couple hours while the order processed, and when I came back for pickup, the same associate saw me, remembered my name and what I was there to pick up and everything was seamless. read more

Pretty busy for a Thursday morning. I can't remember who I initially spoke with here for the life of me but it most definitely wasn't a pleasant experience initially. I honestly felt like a burden coming into the store with a broken device willing to pay retail for another one. All because I didn't have an appointment which unfortunately I couldn't schedule one because I just got back in country after being gone for about a year and the device that I would've scheduled my appointment on was broken and had not yet been activated. His solution was to have me on standby and he would message me when they could squeeze me in between customers, hopefully within the hour. I had no issues with waiting whatsoever, I again showed him my screen (totally black) and informed him that his plan wouldn't work. He then pointed to a chair behind him and told me to sit there and wait. I honestly felt like just got sent to time out, I looked high and low for a candid camera but couldn't find one. Michael Stingo turned that experience right around. He was very knowledgeable and empathetic to my needs. I didn't have an appointment but he managed to squeeze me in between customers and help me come up with a solution quickly. I honestly cannot say enough about Michael. If it wasn't for the gentleman who I initially spoke with I would rate this visit 5 stars without thinking twice. Now that I again have a device that works I will schedule an appointment before I head in and ask for Michael. Thanks to him my transition back to the U.S. has been a smoother one. I was able to find a new house to live in and enjoy my holiday weekend living there and not out of a suitcase in a hotel room. read more

When we walked in, an associate greeted us and asked us if we needed help finding anything. He directed us to the apple accessories of course as I was hankering for some new techie toys for my Iphone. The store was packed on Monday night at 7 pm and there was an Ipad class going on in the front. Pretty sweet. When we were ready to check out, it was fast and painless as they do all their POS stuff on their fancy Ipod touches. I'll never go to Sprint for iphone issues again! I can't believe how easy and stress free my appointment was. I reserved a time last night, arrived a few minutes early and got checked in. In less than 5 minutes, someone came and found me and introduced me to my technician. He was extremely kind and friendly, and knew exactly how to get my phone up and running. I had my 3 kiddos with me, but they were happy as clams at the little table set up with iPads with games on them. They were sad when it was time to go! I overheard other customers complimenting the Apple employees that were working with them too! Hopefully my iPhone 5s won't give me any more trouble, but at least I know I won't have to dread getting it looked at if it does. read more

I went to the apple store in Leawood today to get a new battery for my iPhone. I was told it was about a 4 hour wait time! When called my phone would be diagnosed then I would receive a new battery. I decided to call the Apple line to order my battery in hopes it would be there tomorrow so, I could get this taken care of. While at home 3 hours later I get a text I'm up, its my turn. I am 20 miutes away I try to get their direct number to call and sy Im on my way but was on hold for 40 minutes with elevator music. Beyond frusterated. What's not to love if you are an Apple fan?!?! Name another store where you can go in, pick out what you like, buy it on your phone (with Apple Store app), and walk out without waiting in a line and having to make polite chit chat. My only knock is there are too many damn customers!!! In one corner of the store there is a "How to use your iPhone" class going on and the 6 students were all around 60 years old. Nice they offer the help, but if you need a 90 minute class to use your phone then stick to a Jitterbug. This store is sensory overload. You can play with any gadget they have, pick up accessories that will allow your phone to change the color of your lights, turn on your hairdryer, or keep tabs on the temperature of the brisket you have on the smoker. It is difficult to leave the store without buying something new, but that isn't Apple's fault. read more

I drove 30 miles to this Apple store to buy my son a new iPhone. He had flown in from LA for Xmas. The "helper" wouldn't activate the phone becuz the main person on the Sprint plan--my wife--wasn't present. (I'm on my work plan). I called BS on that and had her ask her manager. She claims he wouldn't either. I drove another 15 miles out of my way to the Plaza Apple store and the real helper said that was ridiculous; all he needed was my sons phone #. He did it in 5 minutes. I notified the vendor, and was told to take my Ipod Touch to Apple for a diagnosis. I just left the Apple Store in Leawood. There are only two reasons that I gave this place 4 instead of 5 stars. #1: Because of the parking. It is always a mad house trying to get to this place. Prior to visiting this Apple Store yesterday, I looked over several Yelp reviews to prepare myself for what to expect. A few mentioned curt and surly employees. I'm not good with either of those qualities, so I grabbed my iPhone, traveled to Leawood and braced myself for the worst. (I'd been to the Plaza location to purchase the phone and that was a near-perfect experience.) What I found upon entering, was a bustling atmosphere loaded with excited customers and an approximate 3:1 ratio of clients to employees. (Pretty good!) It took a couple of minutes for an employee to be free to offer assistance, but when he did, he immediately scheduled me with the Genius Bar, walked me to the area, waited until I was acknowledged by the concierge and then went back to work. At 5 minutes past my appointment time (and after at least 3 staff members asked if I'd been helped) a friendly tech guy visited with me, told me exactly what had to be done, did it, and explained what else I'd have to do to finish the fix once I got home. They didn't charge me for the service. The set up of the store and customer service seemed initially confusing, but they themselves explain that it's best to go early or late in the day, not during peak hours, which I certainly could have done. Kudos to Apple for having a successful product line and for trying fun and new ways to provide the obligatory retail and customer service experiences. read more

I went to the Apple Store in Leawood yesterday (7/8/14) to get my iMac checked out. I did not find the experience to be a great one. I walk in carrying my 27" iMac and am asked to have a seat at a table. About 30 seconds after I sit down, a "woman" walks in, with an issue with her iPhone.. Not only was she wearing the shortest blue dress possible (her arse was barely covered when standing up straight) she was clearly not wearing a bra as the back of the dress was open and you could see her bikini tan line She goes to the table next to me and starts asking her question, I notice that everyone in the place has basically stopped working to look at her, This is when I notice that she has bent over the table, and we all discovered a bra was not the only undergarment she was not wearing. I got called up to get my iMac looked at, however the guy working on it, never stopped staring at the girl in the blue dress, as she has now turned toward the genius bar!! After 2 hours, I left with a machine, that I am quite sure will continue to have the issue. I guess I should just be happy i got the free show, but honestly, I just wanted my machine fixed!! read more

As the line slowly moved I wondered to myself why am I waiting in line if I have an appointment? When I finally made it to the front I was told I was in the wrong line. The line I wanted was in the back of the store. I looked to the back and saw another line with people that entered the store after me. Afternoon shot, went there for nothing. Whether you're in need of something or not, you can spend a considerable amount of time here just checking out the products. The store is laid out nicely, bright, and open. There's typically one or two employees up front to find out what you need and check you into the queue. A lot of people make appointments, but I just showed up on a Saturday, and I didn't find the wait exorbitant. You should expect a wait, but it's because they spend the time with the customer to make sure they have everything they need to hit the ground running with whatever they purchased. They have plenty of products around to give them a go, and it's not just one demo model per product like at most stores. They have more than one of the same model so you don't have to wait on someone to get done playing around with it. I haven't made the leap to a MacBook, but something tells me that I'll be back to look into one some more. read more
