Worst Apple+ warranty support ever. Came here with a cracked iPad screen. My appointment was 3:10pm, I came at 3:20pm due to train delay and no rep helped me until 3:40pm and he accused me of being too late for my appointment and cancelled my appointment. The hell? Nowhere in the appointment email, did it mention that the appointment would be cancelled if i do not make it within 10 minutes and there would be a high volume of customers waiting in lines for support. Meanwhile, "genius" cocky useless reps taking their dandy time and standing around doing nothing to help. What? The lines were overcrowded for support, reps were unfriendly and now I gotta go somewhere else for fixing my screen. Those geniuses must not be very smart because all they had to do was look up my warranty info and fix my screen like they promised under apple plus care. read more

Where do you go when you need the new iPod touch so you can Yelp more, and more easily upload pictures? Back to the "Mother ship". This was the first Apple store in the city, and to me, it's still the best. I'm knocking them down 1 star for not having the middle tier model in stock. The price point for that model makes sense at $300 for a 32GB device, instead I opted down to my same old size 8GB device for $229. This unit isn't at this time available at third party resellers, as I found out when trying to purchase at J&R to save myself some time. But it will be soon. My sales person was friendly and helpful and had me out of there in under 10 minutes. I like this store for it's "Genius bar" and training theater. You can always learn something new here. 90% of the people that work here were super friendly and helpful. The concierge was awesome - friendly, easy to deal with, and calm. But the Genius Bar person I spoke with was a total and utter a hole. Blithe, dismissive, indifferent. Condescending. She was just awful. I don't even care about my buggy, constantly crashing phone anymore - I just never want to step foot in an apple store again. I'm a big fan of the podcast they record here called "Meet the Filmmaker" although they have episodes from other Apple Stores, this location is the central location for it and as a result I knew I had to come check it out and catch a podcast. Living in Toronto we get no fancy events at the Apple Stores here and they have a very nice set up with a small stage and comfy chairs with a decent amount of standing room. And when the event is in full swing the store noise does get drowned out. I was lucky enough to come in to NYC during the Tribeca Film Festival and sat through 3 straight events that satisfied the movie lover in me. The actual store portion had no stand outs apart from the big staircase right plunk in the middle that's very reminiscent of the London store and the geniuses/genii? walking around were friendly and outgoing, a very pleasant experience in a fancy neighbourhood. Make sure to check out their website for any events happening when you're around they do get some big names to come in for interviews and in an intimate environment with a very good chance you could get to ask a question to your favourite movie star or director. read more

As far as the store itself, its conveniently located right smack in SoHo. 2 stories, pretty standard for Apple stores, and has everything that you need. All the cases, software, and other accessories are on the 2nd floor. Service is pretty much Apple style. People give you attention, and seem to care about what you say, unlike Best Buy. read more

My experiences here have never been anything but outstanding. The staff is always available, helpful, friendly, couteous, charming, etc etc.... I've never had to wait too long for anything, despite the crowds, and the guys at the genius bar have fixed me up in no time flat. My biggest fear in getting an iPhone was having to deal with this store for all my needs, but it has been exceptionally painless and easy. Nobody there picks up the phone. Ever. On three separate occasions, I've called to get in touch with a live human being at the store - the phone sends you to a call center where someone there vets you and when it finally comes time to connect you to the store, you get put on hold for at least 15 minutes. Then the call center guy picks up and says nobody is picking up at the store. This store is the worst. This is NYC in one of the prime shopping districts. Act like something more than a bunch of inept buffoons. Every other Apple store I've been to has had exponentially better customer service than this place. read more

Came in and the place was packed. Met with the nice greeters up front and they asked us what we were in for. After telling them we were looking for a phone upgrade and they told us where the phones were and someone would be with us in 10 minutes. Great news it took maybe 5 minutes and we met up with Clinton. He was outstanding. Took time to go over features of the new phone as my wife had a lot of camera questions. She was sold after hearing the differences. Then my daughter wanted to look at the watches and Clinton helped us find her the perfect watch. He was so friendly in the middle of sea of humanity that was in the store and made us feel like we were the only ones in the store. When you come into this Apple location ask for Clinton. The only problem I have with the APPLE store is I don't have all the $$ in the world to OWN all the cool sh**t I want every time I go up those frosty stairs - but that's not their fault, is it? I have procare & one to one and the service and lessons have all been really good. I did experience a funny moment last week when I had to do a backup on my computer and it was taking a while - but I was perched in a quiet spot upstairs where it wasn't busy so I thought it was cool...until a chubby 11 year old kid put his fingers on my laptop and said: "are you still using this?" and I said: "uh, yeah - IT"S MINE!" I admit I felt a kind of childish...but all those shiny toys bring it out of me. read more

I brought my computer here for a simple repair. It took an hour and I left happy. Until I got home and a very large piece fell off of my laptop. I brought the laptop back 5 days ago and haven't heard from apple since. So instead of working from home on my computer like I should be, I spend my mornings on hold, until someone says "we'll look at it in 24-48 hours." Apparently apple has their own system for telling time and it isn't the one the rest of the world uses. Nothing short of an amazing experience - every single time. Even in the more frustrating situations, I've never not received personable and outstanding treatment at this location. I've never had bad customer service experience at any Apple location, but this one takes the medal for best treatment by a landslide. Stand reeaaaaallly close to the person currently using the computer. Breathe really loudly. Smack your lips a little. Do anything you can possibly think of to make that person really uncomfortable and irritated. When they finally toss you a dirty look and walk away, pump your fist in the air "YESSSSSS!" I once had a friend tell me I "didn't deserve a mac computer" as she was angrily cleaning bacon crumbs and dust out of my laptop. "Whatever." I said as I continued to add more unexplained particles into the keyboard. Of course I've been there several times due to my laptop battery going out of whack, as much as macs are popular and awesome, it's difficult to rely on a laptop as your main computer. This time it was my charger or "power adapter" because it sounds cooler. Luckily all of my issues have been covered under my warranty, yessss. There weren't any appointments at the genius bar available because it's Saturday and it's like trying to get reservations last minute at a fancy restaurant. Usually I would wait but under mitigating circumstances I decided to go sans appointment and see what would happen. It was PACKED and I gave up hope but my mom told me to try it anyway. I asked one of the mac people about it and he looked unsure for a moment but decided to get help and switch it for me without waiting on line. Sure I got a stern lecture since it's against protocol and everything but they still helped me. My mom loved him and kept waiving and thanking him when we left. "He's so nice! And so cute!" It was here a confused customer asked me as an actual "Knowledgable Mac User" which mac to buy and the Specialist interjected trying to intimidate me, but I proved him wrong by getting the facts from Apple's website and the Specialist said "I don't have to work here, Do You Know Who I Am? I'm a filmmaker!" I don't care if you're Obama. I mean that was an excellent performance but the manager who saw it, didn't do anything about it and tried covering up his co-worker who was explicitly in the wrong while harassing customers. Finally I brought 2 iPhones in but the reservation system on Apple's website only allowed one defective device at a time though i typed in the note that I had another and when the Australian/English Genius-Of-An-Idiot came to me and I told him I had two, he mockingly said "You can't do that, the math doesn't add up." No kidding Genius. Now it's ironic that I applied for a job here 3x as I've been devoted/brainwashed to Apple for a long time, always praising their products but after they rejected my application and seeing that they actually prefer to hire are knucklehead snobs on top of occasionally refusing to sell iPhones to Chinese (or Chinese looking people) when the iPhone is made in China anyway is a double standard and out right racist stand to take which is the main reason I lost interest in Apple altogether. read more

I had an appointment at the14th st store genus bar... It was assess that my computer needed repair for the 2011 motherboard recall... I needed to take some data out, so super sweet Jess told me to do what I needed to do and drop off my computer at ANY store! The computer was processed already and with my serial number they would have been able to get hold of all the paper and just take it from my hands But when I went to drop off the computer at the Prince st Apple Store, the story totally changed...they were gonna give me a new appointment 30 min away so I politely asked for a manager to see if he could do something about it but noooo... that did not happen AND the appointment now set 1hr and 20 minutes away, from 30 I was told earlier... Mind you... to read my serial number and find out that it was assessed a couple of hours earlier and it was approved the shipping for repair. read more

I was one of the first nerds in line when the SoHo store opened. Since then, I have taken advantage of all the free "classes" on the 2nd floor to get more familiar with the basics of Mac, wasted many a minute using the free WiFi when I couldn't afford it at home, used the store's bathroom when in SoHo and that taco from earlier suddenly says Hi, and attended many of the lecturers/music artists free events. Do the floor sales persons know more than I do about Apple products? Certainly not...that is the one thing that bugs me more than anything. Most are students just there to make a dime and have the status of working at the Apple store. So, do your research ahead of time and don't expect more than memorized product flashcard pitches from those folks. All in all, if you want to play with Apple products, hit up the Apple store. Price wise, you are way better off buying from a third party vendor. But, nothing beats the thrill of buying a new computer and walking out of an Apple store. Oh, if it's nighttime, be sure to take a cab home with your new iMac or Macbook Pro... your new shit might get jumped walking or on the train. Better safe than sorry! :) read more

The support at Apple is unbeatable. While on holidays in NYC, the power adapter on my macbook pro died. After a quick call to Apple care, the support rep got me an appointment that very same afternoon (less than 30 minutes after I called) at the Apple store in Soho. Went to genius bar and within 5 minutes the rep got me a new power adapter. They didn't have any in stock---so he opened a new box for me for free. I had a Dell mini laptop with issues and it took several hours of calling to have no resolution (I basically had to toss the computer it was a lemon), whereas with Apple, the service is top-notch. First time went to purchase a Mac book. The line for technical support was the equivalent of buying concert tickets. The staff are all wearing these bright red T-shirts. Everyone is walking around, some are helping customers. To get assistance you need to get one in your sight and then pounce on them to buy a product. I was able to stalk my prey and walk away with my purchase. I would only return to make sure, I'm purchasing a true Apple product. read more

I never ever had to buy my own Apple products, wait, okay, that's a lie....I had to buy an USB cord because the iPod mini I received as a gift a wayyy while back didnt come with a cord. My 2nd iPod was a gift as well.... =D Well anywhoo, my family decided to do secret santa for Christmas 2012. I picked my brother. He likes alcohol so I could have just bought him some bottles but as the awesome sister that I am (ha) I decided to buy him a iPod nano since his broke. I walked into the store, all confused, eh, how do I buy an iPod? The store was packed and most of the Apple workers were helping other people but eventually I found someone and they told me I can go to the front, which they noticed was packed, so they told me I can go to the second floor, towards the left and to the back, where I can make my purchase. Um, I see the wall of items, but where are the registers?!?! Ahh for technology, where they use their phones to ring up your product, swipe your card and print your receipt. I didn't have to wait long since there wasn't any customers up there to make a purchase. A few weeks later I felt like a pro when I went to go buy my moms gift from here...entered Apple, went straight up the stairs, to the back to buy my mom an iPad.....yes, lucky mom received an iPad as a gift....iPad WITH retina display....$499 , plus tax...but hey, my mom deserves it!!!! read more

Just an awesome place to go, Apple fan or not. Though I belong to former camp, I still love this place simply because of the great environment. By environment, I mean the tone that the staff and Apple geniuses have created. The staff there are some of the nicest people I've seen in retail in a long time. They're always cheerful and smiling when greeting people. After all, who wants to shop in a place that's grim? Definitely not me. You can do your own thing and check out their devices or even use it to peruse your Facebook to kill some time. They don't bother you at all. They welcome that. I've always loved that about this place. Also if you really need help, an employee is only an earshot away. Their Genius Bar is even more fantastic. Quick, painless and to the point. Once, I brought my phone into the Genius Bar because of a faulty power button and within 15 minutes I walked out with a replacement. That's efficiency. I was expecting rude and belligerent service but instead got very friendly service. One of their nicest amenity is unique to this particular Apple Store: their presentation theater. Daily, they have presentations that teach users how to use their products. Seating is open to customers, so if you're want to rest why not enjoy a nice little presentation about something you might buy! But for me it's the seating and the indispensable CHARGING OUTLETS on the floor. Relax and charge up your phone! Win. Short Version: Beautiful store with some of the most friendly staff. I love this Apple Store! The store is conveniently located on the off-street in Soho. It is usually not too busy on the weekdays. Every time I come here I receive the best customer service. Very chill vibes here. The person who helped me out was named Sam, I believe, and he was wonderful to talk with. I came here for an Apple Watch band, but they ended up not having it in stock. Sam did recommend other locations that had them in stock though. So overall, I would say great customer service, but the store should have better inventory control. read more

I went in yesterday to buy an iPad. The store was crowded and there was a constant stream of people walking down the stairs from the upper floor. Most people could not resist the urge to prance down the steps and I felt like I was on "The Donna Reed Show". I shook my head once to clear the nostalgia and focus on 21st century New York. Luckily, I was able to find a worker unburdened by the gaggle of customers that seemed attached to all the others. I found out later that the company had revealed earlier that day a new iPad Air and iPad mini. The young kid who helped me instantly understood what I wanted and had it in my hands in no time. I would say I was in the store no longer than 10 minutes. Of the three apple stores I've been to, this was the one with the heaviest crowd and yet the most efficient as well. I went there on Saturday to an ipod workshop (im a new ipod touch owner) I found the employee who gave the class very helpful and willing to take the time and effort to answer any and all questions which i wasn't expecting since the class was free.The seats had outlets for your mac or in my case a pc(yes i did bring a pc laptop into an apple store i know i got balls lol)The class was easy to understand and took you step by step on how itunes and your ipod works. This apple store is INSANELY packed with apple customer representatives in their bright blue tshirts. Every turn you make, you'll be able to ask a question or get help. I purchased my macbook pro here just yesterday through the patient and friendly assistance from an apple store representative. Although I had tons of irrelevant questions during my purchase, he was still friendly and answered everything clearly to me. I told him I was unfamiliar with macs and he even sat me down, gave me a 30 minute overview and tutorial on using the trackpad, and then made sure to provide any additional information that would help me! I was very impressed by his dedication and time spent on working with me through and after the purchase. If I ever need to buy another apple product, I would be going back to this store. read more

:) This place makes me smile every time I go in. I've been to a few Apple Stores, including Midtown, but none of them are quite like "Station A". Great location, incredible lighting, that great glass staircase, a big and comfy theater, REALLY intelligent salespeople (I'm always impressed) and geniuses who don't act like you're the last person they want to see (a la Midtown, unfortunately). I'm a definite techie and know what I'm doing, especially in the Mac world, so the geniuses' ability to talk at my level and not condescend is much appreciated. The actual space is just so PRETTY. I always want to buy things just because they are so nicely displayed (and knowing how great Apple stuff is to begin with makes it even harder not to bust out the credit card) The place is not as packed on average as it used to be, but still draws big crowds (especially in the afternoon/evening) and you can usually find some interesting people to talk to while waiting in line. The sales girls they've been hiring recently are also GORGEOUS, which is an unexpected plus on your way out the door with a shiny new Mac :) Go to Apple SoHo instead of Midtown-- you'll be a lot happier! read more

This is my go-to apple store when I have problems with my multitude of apple products, or I'll drop by when I'm in the area to charge my phone. The staff at the "genius bar" are usually pretty attentive but when the place is packed they can take a long time to sort through the crowds and figure out who's who and if you're not paying attention they can end up skipping you. Has never happened to me personally but I've seen it happen to a few people while I was waiting. Definitely get a reservation before you leave the house, or go right when they open so there's no line. I was there a few days ago to drop off my MacBook to fix some cracks along the palmrest - no charge because it was a design fault. The guy who took my laptop in, Peter, called me a few hours later to let me know that it was fixed. Good service and tons of stuff to play with while you're there. read more

I had to go to their Genius bar once and met a very peppy and sweaty gay man at the helm. It was quite lovely actually. Observations of a non-Mac-phile upon being dragged into this store by a Mac-phile significant other, in order of occurrence: 1) That's a LOT of hipsters. 2) Why is it that we have to get shunted from one employee to another about five times when my boyfriend already knows precisely what he wants to buy and is telling each person in turn what it is? This is one of those places that tries to be so user-friendly it ends up being painful for power users. 3) $29 for a cable that probably costs 15 cents to manufacture and isn't even long enough to be useful? It was nice of the salesperson to direct us to the nearby Best Buy for a better selection of accessories, but why is the store he works for making it necessary for him to refer people out to find actual useful accessories for Apple products? read more

Personally I like this Apple Store better than the 5th Ave (59th str) store. Granted in my mind Apple Stores kind of have that pretension, I'm-too-cool-to-really-help-you feel...but this one at least has it less than the other. This one is also a little less crowded, not much, but a little. Unlike the 5th Ave store, most of the people in the store are actually there to get something or taking a training class or something, so it's not just a bunch of people standing around staring at the glass staircase. I bought my Mac Pro here about a month ago and the guy who helped me, David, was really nice and actually quite helpful. He advised me to purchase a different one from the one I had in mind, which in turn saved me about $250- very nice. Sadly I had to wait about 25 minutes before anyone helped me but I'm glad it was him. The other guys, whose name I don't remember, initiated the set up and did a good job. I think he was in between helping someone else because he was slightly rushed, but still got me through the basics. If you have to go to an Apple Store, go to this one. You'll still have to wait for anyone to acknowledge you but at least they'll get you out pretty fast once you finally do get want you came for. read more
