This is my go-to apple store when I have problems with my multitude of apple products, or I'll drop by when I'm in the area to charge my phone. The staff at the "genius bar" are usually pretty attentive but when the place is packed they can take a long time to sort through the crowds and figure out who's who and if you're not paying attention they can end up skipping you. Has never happened to me personally but I've seen it happen to a few people while I was waiting. Definitely get a reservation before you leave the house, or go right when they open so there's no line. I was there a few days ago to drop off my MacBook to fix some cracks along the palmrest - no charge because it was a design fault. The guy who took my laptop in, Peter, called me a few hours later to let me know that it was fixed. Good service and tons of stuff to play with while you're there. read more

This store is fine. The men and women who bravely are positioned in the front lines (literally, the front of the store) are usually quite helpful. I had to go to their Genius bar once and met a very peppy and sweaty gay man at the helm. It was quite lovely actually. Observations of a non-Mac-phile upon being dragged into this store by a Mac-phile significant other, in order of occurrence: 1) That's a LOT of hipsters. 2) Why is it that we have to get shunted from one employee to another about five times when my boyfriend already knows precisely what he wants to buy and is telling each person in turn what it is? This is one of those places that tries to be so user-friendly it ends up being painful for power users. 3) $29 for a cable that probably costs 15 cents to manufacture and isn't even long enough to be useful? It was nice of the salesperson to direct us to the nearby Best Buy for a better selection of accessories, but why is the store he works for making it necessary for him to refer people out to find actual useful accessories for Apple products? read more

Personally I like this Apple Store better than the 5th Ave (59th str) store. Granted in my mind Apple Stores kind of have that pretension, I'm-too-cool-to-really-help-you feel...but this one at least has it less than the other. This one is also a little less crowded, not much, but a little. Unlike the 5th Ave store, most of the people in the store are actually there to get something or taking a training class or something, so it's not just a bunch of people standing around staring at the glass staircase. I bought my Mac Pro here about a month ago and the guy who helped me, David, was really nice and actually quite helpful. He advised me to purchase a different one from the one I had in mind, which in turn saved me about $250- very nice. Sadly I had to wait about 25 minutes before anyone helped me but I'm glad it was him. The other guys, whose name I don't remember, initiated the set up and did a good job. I think he was in between helping someone else because he was slightly rushed, but still got me through the basics. If you have to go to an Apple Store, go to this one. You'll still have to wait for anyone to acknowledge you but at least they'll get you out pretty fast once you finally do get want you came for. read more

played dumb for a bit ... i knew well i was not one. if anything, i LIVED the store to the max ... i loved it actually. frankly, i just love soho's peculiar energy. i admit !!! a previous "post office" and minimalist structure, the apple store houses no less than an infinite enclave full of wizards and allows for the quick minded do their thing while looking as if experts of their own subject. IT. appreciated my "one to one" session offered by one of the store geniuses. maurice. his knowledge was sufficient. too bad i didn't / couldn't bring my iMac 27 to fully explain what it was i wanted to become an expert of. while visiting new york, i was on a business mission. and within my array of activities, on error, i happened to have left my iPhone charger behind. maurice was quick in making sure i had a brand new charger available. nice !!! thank you, maurice. amazing structure, design, system.... amazing apple !!! read more

During a recent visit to Europe, my brand new iPhone 4 was knocked out of my hands by an overly passionate Il Palio reveler! The glass screen shattered into a nice spiderweb pattern. I got plenty of laughs when I told people I bought the Spider-man version of the iPhone 4. Nevertheless, I was annoyed with it so I took it to the Apple store in SoHo near my house. At first, they said the only thing they can do is give me a new phone for 199 bucks. I would've done it anyway, but after telling them the story of how it happened, the manager offered to give me a new one for 99 bucks! what? that's pretty friggin' cool. I applied a gift card I had for 50 dollars and when it was all said and done, I got a brand new iPhone 4 for 60 dollars. I recommend this Apple store because of their service. I'm not saying they're perfect because I do have my issues with Steve, but that shouldn't take away from the great people at this particular location. Peace, D read more

Worst experience of my life. My phone is eligible for a replacement per https://ssl.apple.com/support/iphone5-sleepwakebutton/. I checked the serial number prior to going to the store. I do not have a cracked screen. my phone works fine except that the sleep/ awake button hasn't worked for quite some time (2 months after i purchased the phone), which is the reason for the replacement. I waited almost 2 hours to be serviced even though i had an appointment. the "genius" verifies some info with me and then erases my phone data. he then takes out my sim card to tell me that my phone has water damage and thus cannot be replaced. I asked him why he didn't check for this PRIOR to erasing my phone data and he actually says to me, "well, normally a phone that works shouldn't have water damage". Really? Really? I think the worst part is that APPLE SOLD ME A DEFECTED PHONE AND WILL NOT REPLACE IT BECAUSE I HAPPEN TO HAVE SPILLED SOME WATER ON IT AFTER THE FACT. I work in customer service and I have to say I am shocked at how terrible this experience has been for me. read more

Worst customer service ever. The "Apple genius" tells me he is not an engineer and cannot tell me why my iPhone under 2 years old doesn't work. He just tells me to buy a new phone. The employees have zero emotional intelligence and the products that cost $1000 work for approximately 5 minutes. They told me I could pay for my new phone with Apple Pay since I forgot my wallet (and thought they would be able to quickly fix my phone rather than buying a new one), but when I went to pay with Apple Pay they said it wouldn't work ironically. My first and second experience with the Apple Genius bar was at this store in the same week that we received 8 inches of snow and then 3 inches of snow and then more snow, snow, snow. So the fact that the Genius's were still somehow perky and smiling at me made me feel a little less bad about coming in on a day where it should have been stone cold dead. My iPad (3rd generation) had a few dead pixels on it. I had known about these dead pixels since I bought it last year but decided to wait to the end of my warranty to exchange my iPad. I made an appointment, showed up on time, and within 15 minutes I was walking out with a brand new (refurbished) iPad! Same model, same color! Within a week, my brand new (refurbished) iPad was failing. It was giving me Apple equivalent BSOD. So I made another appointment and was back at the Apple Store again! My new genius checked out my iPad for 5 mins on his Macbook and declared my iPad awful with hardware failure and gave me ANOTHER brand new (refurbished) iPad! Three iPads, all in one year. Easy replacements and no fuss and no hassle. I'm glad the Genius Bar lived up to it's reputation. read more

Apple Soho - sheep waiting to buy one of the lamest excuses for a new phone line in recent memory - Computers Near Me - New York, New York

I like the store in general, but I cannot stand Apple fanboy's. At all. I respect all platforms, they all have their strengths and weakness, but there is not need to bash around. So that detracts from the enjoyment from the store. They do have free wi-fi and you can use the computers to check your e-mail while waiting around, but it can take a while to get a computer during peak times. The line to check out is fast, they have people come out and check out people while still in line, that is nice. I like the design of the products, but it is not enough to make me switch over. I still need to make a few more dollars so I could convert all my computers over. (I only have an iPod, and I don't even use it now that I have my Blackberry Pearl) The restrooms are nice if you are in the area (Replay across the street is better though), clean and crazy, just like the rest of the store. 3 Flushes read more

I'm going state up front that I'm not a Mac user. (though I do have an iPod Nano) I went there with my husband because he wanted to buy a Mac Book, which he did. The place is very crowded, even mid-day mid-week, but despite the crowds, it's kinda cool to hang out there. The store is very consistent with Apple's TV advertising comparing Mac's to PC's. Apple is young, fresh, friendly and irreverent. Being a PC user, I felt a little like the PC guy in the TV commercial. Not a good feeling among all those artsy cool hipster Mac people. So, now that we have a Mac at home, I'm going figure out how to use it and become cool. I can't wait! read more

Our mission was to finally get a iphones, which has been on the agenda as long as they have been available, so we walked straight to the counter and looked for help. In no time a nice fellow, James, came along and directed us to get everything we needed. James was informative, friendly and helpful--even though the place was a mob scene. Although I was disappointed the first generation is no longer available, the entire experience was pleasant and quick. Really disappointed. Had an appointment last week for 2, around 3:15 I still had not been called. Asked the person signing people in why and he said they've been busy but I should be helped in 20 minutes. Wasn't, so cancelled it and left. I get it, it gets busy. Came in today for my appointment at 11, waiting for 30 minutes asked why because it's pretty empty and I see 4 employees kinda hanging out behind the bar. They could be doing something and I just don't know it but I highly doubt it. Contemplating if I should cancel and leave again but felt like I've waited this long already. Another girl comes to wait at the table I'm at, an associate immediately comes and introduced himself and says he will be with them any minute. At that point, I gather my wire's, go to the lady that checked me in and let her know to cancel my appointment. She says someone has picked it up, that same gentlemen then says he did I say that's okay because at this point i gotta go. Soooo...it was empty, my appointment wasn't honored and the other lady who checked in after me was approached immediately. Not impressed by their apple Genius Bar. I understand the soho area can be super busy and it's gonna be crowded . But what's the appoint of making appointments but ended up waiting for another 20 minutes ? I have to see three apple geniuses this time to get things done. The first one worked and then left to help others because the system is updating . I understand . But he didn't comeback and thus I waited another 40 minutes . What's the explanation? Nothing , that's very unprofessional for him. And then I asked someone for help , they sent me an apple appointment guide to take over . But this guy sent another one to check my laptop in the end because he apparently was so busy . I went in to get my IPhone fixed ( My 3GS has been acting crazy, purchased 9 months ago). I made an appointment and arrived 10 min before my appt. after wating for my name to be called, about 30 min passed, I missed them calling my name. One of the associates criticizing me for not staying in the area even though there are no spot to sit due to too many people waiting. Order your Apple products online. The pretentious staff at this store ruined the experience for me and wasted my time with their gadgetry theater. One guy told me that I wouldn't be able to activate a phone on my own (False) and the store manager Meredith is a patronizing cow. When I expressed frustration with the wait-time she said "I've been here since 3am" - what does that have to do with me? She was extremely insulting and should not be talking to customers. I have gone here on a few occasions before Apple opened additional locations and have never had a bad experience here. With this said, it's always way too crowded and chaotic to really make the visit enjoyable. I usually don't have a problem finding an Apple salesperson whenever I need assistance which is odd given how crowded the store is. As soon as I enter the store, I go directly to find whatever it is I need so I can quickly exit the store. I am so glad Apple opened a store closer to me on 14th St. where it's far less crowded and chaotic. read more

Okay, yes, it's crowded, and yes, we had to wait for nearly an hour just to set the thing up, but I walked into that store a girl sporting an ancient flip phone and I walked out an iphone-totin' woman. Every staff person we talked to was upbeat, friendly, knowledgeable, and patient. Everybody was slightly apologetic about the crowds and assured us it'd be worth the wait - and it was. The store itself was spacious and well-organized and just about the cleanest place I've ever been in New York (that includes, troublingly, several doctor's offices). I do have to express some mild irritation at the fact that the exterior of the store says "POST OFFICE" in huge letters and not, say, "APPLE STORE." At least two stamp-seeking passersby were deeply confused by this and I don't blame them a bit. read more

I came to the apple store in soho to diagnose my mac air computer after it stopped working suddenly. I had to wait for available technician for 1 and a half hour. After that I have been told that to fix my computer will cost me $350 but it will not include to save the data and for that would be an additional price. I tried to understand what exactly happened as my computer only 2 years old and it was in good condition before. I haven't receive any explanation. Likely I decided to try other options and my brother recommended to bring my computer to Dr. Brendan on St. Mars place. There was no wait and I got to drop off my computer for free diagnostic. In couple days it was fixed for the price of $40 with all my data saved. I will never try to fix any devices at apple store again! read more

I want to thank Trevor, David, and Derek for their patience and support. My iPad would not sync my music. After spending an hour on the phone with Apple Care, they asserted I needed a new device. They booked me an appointment at the Genius Bar. Three hours and three geniuses later, I left a happy customer with everything working perfectly. As it turns out, my music files were a mess, which led to a corrupted iTunes library. I now have a fast and efficient iTunes, music I didn't even know I had, and a synced iPad. Going here is like like playing operation. You try not to get steped on, and try not to step on any one else. The genius bar is always packed cant not even pass by. The aisles feel like its a one way street - small and narrow. Come at the wrong time of day - you will be lucky to come out with a feeling of not trying to strangle someone Honestly i don't know what the right time of day is always seems crowded. I guess in a way this is good, since they aren't up your butt with a flashlight and magnifying glass the entire time you are in the store...bad in case you generally have a question and no one is around to help. One of the nicest Apple Stores in NYC. We always come here every time we're in SoHo. This Apple Store used to be a post office. Now it stands as a beautiful structure. First floor is pretty much standard for all stores with laptops and iPods. The second floor has a mini theater that seats about 60. If you are lucky enough to attend their events, there are usually artist performances! The glass staircase leading up to the second floor is worth seeing and marveling at. It's 5 panes thick and is simply stunning. This location is not too packed either, unlike their flagship store at Fifth Avenue. The store is also located near a lot of other high end stores like Prada, Tiffany and Co, etc. Pro-tip: Their ramp/elevator for wheelchairs is usually broken so avoid parents and wheelchair users beware. read more

Located in Soho inside a post office "Station A" this store exemplifies professionalism. Well staffed with red Geniuses that will promptly help you with any and alll of your Apple needs. The place is always packed, even during a snowstorm, the crack staff are always helpful while not agressive with the product. the massive crowd that enters the complex is easily and effortlessly managed by the seasoned employees. The floor has a open concept design and has a impressive stairway made entirely of glass, cascading down the middle, it houses the most uptodate apple products. My only small peeve would be the genius bar upstairs. you can't get walk in service and is by appointment only. If you miss your appointment by more than an hour, then you might as shoot yourself in the head cause basically your day is shot. Other then that, the experience is flawless. read more

Sometimes I am crazy. The period around the time when I bought my Mac Book is one such time. My poor poor devoted friend and I went to every Apple Store, Best Buy, Circuit City, and some RJ Richardson (or something I don't remember, we don't have those stores on the West Coast) just to look for a cheap case and a good lock. The Apple Store in SoHo did not have either. The cases were muy expensive (although I ended up buying one at 5th Ave) and they only carry one large and ugly Kensington lock. Also, my friend told me this store was 6 stories and I hope she reads this so I can tell her it is NOT. The bottom floor is tiny and has some computers. Giving 3.5 stars. Walked in to replace my $80 in-ear headphones whose left speaker went out after only 4 months. Arrgh. I was immediately greeted by the one of the hottest guys I'd seen in a long time: Eddie D- you are amazing! But I digress. I actually had to make an appointment to replace them 3 days later, which meant that I'd be going the whole weekend with craptacular headphones which sucked monkey balls. I had a 1pm appointment and yet waited 30 friggin minutes- not cool. However, the mac genius apologized profusely and quickly replaced my headphones. All in all, I managed to leave with a smile on my face and the sweet sounds of Korn in BOTH ears. read more

Another great Apple Store experience. The AppleCare on my 27" iMac was about to expire and my computer was doing some random glitchiness, so I decided to go ahead and take it in. I arrived right at my appointment time (after carrying the beast on the subway from Brooklyn...just keeping it real kids) and was seen immediately by a tech. I think her name was Maribell (I'm actually pretty sure I'm wrong about that). She patiently listened to the issues I said I was having and began running diagnostics on the machine, while simultaneously working with another customer next to me. While running diagnostics on the machine, she discovered that my hard drive was about to fail and told me they would need to order a replacement. All of this occurred and I was out the door in 20 minutes. Anyway, the replacement will, of course, be covered by AppleCare and I can rest easy knowing that my computer has been checked out and has a clean bill of health, and will hopefully give me a few more years of service. I alternate between this Apple Store and the one on 14th street and have had perfect experiences every time. Thanks! **UPDATE** As if I wasn't happy enough, they went ahead and replaced to display on my iMac, too, even though I had no complaints about it. Garbage customer service. I brought in my phone, an XS Max, because the screen had stopped working. Important: 1. The phone is marketed as water resistant, 2. The only water exposure was maybe regular street use in drizzle, perhaps at some point prior. I dropped it off, they said no problem come back in a couple hours. I came back, no dice. Water damage, they say. Can't be covered, they say. Keep in mind, this is a +$1k device marketed as water resistant that didn't go for a swim. I'm given the option of paying $600 for a replacement or walking out with the same broken phone. Doesn't matter that I had the highest tier of AppleCare. Now, the reason I leave the review on this store: I escalate to the manager, they put me on the phone with AppleCare (their own service!!) and leave me to get somebody. Naturally, same answer. I try to talk to them again, and both the original agent AND the manager had gone off shift, without paying over any info. I started over. Lesson learned, don't even bother. Fork the cash over or go home. read more

This location has lost a lot of pizzazz since it first opened. Employees would walk up to who I was talking to and just start talking about something else and I'd have to regain their focus and repeat what I was saying. One young guy who took care of me was tall, had brown hair, short beard, and rectangle black glasses absolutely stunk of body odor. It takes a lot to get me to write about an employee's personal hygiene, but I couldn't bear his smell and I didn't want him to come in contact my computer. The employees overall were looking a little unkempt. I was recently at the temporary store on Fifth Avenue on a crowded weekend and everything worked smoothly, qulckly, impressively, and with maximum friendliness and comfort. The Prince Street branch was not crowded and it looked like the manager had been away for a month and took professionalism with him/her. read more

Easily the least touristy Apple Store I've been to (in NYC, anyway). Very comfortable feel about the place--maybe it's because they didn't turn the building into a giant glass cube. I'm convinced (with some evidence, actually) that the place isn't as tourist-heavy as it could be BECAUSE it doesn't look like an Apple Store from the outside (I was there the other day, and a woman had passed it by no fewer than FOUR TIMES before I finally convinced her that yes, that's it). There's an abundance of staff on hand to help you; you never feel as if you have to wander aimlessly waiting to find assistance. The Genius Bar can get a bit overwhelmed, so your 12:45 appointment could wind up being more like 1:00. Just chill and be patient, I say. The plus side is that once you're served, the staff member will give you practically undivided attention for an almost indefinite period of time. Sure, they're mostly there to try and sell you something ultimately, but with stuff this cool to sell, I almost can't blame them. read more

I went into the store a couple of minutes before my appointment to check in but I had to wait 10min before a Genius Bar guy even came over to see the problem with my iPhone. I had to wait an additional 15min after that for him to finish with another client. They were pretty far behind but once he sat down with me to resolve the problem, the guy was very nice and I left the store quite satisfied. Be prepared to wait even with an appointment. read more

The Apple Store in NYC with the Theatre. I recall days when I first moved to New York and was tired of going to my local coffee shop to do work. Apple store SoHo to the rescue. The programming allow is reason to visit this store. Now I understand the fanboys are going to sing the praises about their products; I'm not writing this review to do so. The store is awesome and theatre upstairs is a treat. Excellent service. The staff were ceryvattentive and knowledgeable. The wait time was minimal, even though it's 2 days 'til Christmas. The sales associate and I had a great conversation and I was barely in there for 5 minutes. I purchased the Macbook pro and it will be a great gift. I tried the Apple store downtown Brooklyn and it was the pits. No customer service and too many bums hanging out in there. It felt unsafe. Apple Soho was excellent all around.
