Came in with my girlfriend looking to purchase a new iPhone 16. We walked in and no one approached us so we decided to walk to a table with the phone she wanted. After some time, she decided on a color. We were standing around looking for someone to help us. We noticed that 5 employees were standing around and talking with each other. We made eye contact with three of them and they still didn't want to help us. We noticed someone new enter the building and they were immediately greeted by somebody. To us, we felt like "what's going on here?" After another 5 minutes, someone named Gustavo came up to us and asked if we needed help. When we asked him about the differences between her phone and the new one, we heard him sigh and take a deep breathe. Almost like we were bothering him. And while we were checking out, we wanted to finance ours and we had this whole process we had to go through only for him to say "nope that's not you on the account." Asking us to call for T-Mobile verification. While my girlfriend was calling her family member , I wanted to check out the phone on display and noticed that Gustavo, who left the phone on the counter, immediately pickup the brand new phone. Signaling to me , that I was going to take it and run out. Honestly, if you're looking for a brand new iPhone, go to UTC or else where. Notice that when you walk into an Apple store you're not greeted with the WalMart-ish "Welcome". Instead you are asked, "What would you like to do today?" It gets right to the core of why any tech user would be there. You will be immediately helped, or elevated to the next available "Genius". This is the genius of the whole Apple Store concept. Apple knows that even if they create products that are easy to use, the variety of things that people want to use them for can get complicated and require some hand-holding. Want to be entertained? Go into an Apple Store and listen to the interaction between a septuagenarian and a Genius. You hear things like "Press any key to start." "Where the hell is the "Any" key?!"; ...and... "Why is somebody named "Alarm" calling me every morning at 6:45AM!?" The main thing that bothers me about this Apple store is it is hard to tell who the real Genius's are and who was pulled off the In-n-Out assembly line just last week. I wish the not-so-Genius's would wear "Genius Trainee" paper hats like they do at In-n-Out. This would save a lot of time. Footnote: Not sure of how the watch is going to work out. Seems un-cool to talk into your watch and then hold it up to your ear. Then again, it used to be cool to write 58008 on your watch calculator and show it to people upside down. In my opinion there is an employee here that is skimming credit cards from customers. I went in on December 15, 2024 around 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. to pick up an online order. I was helped by "Gustavo". When I provided my name for pickup he claimed my order wasn't coming up. He asked for the credit card I used to place the order online so he could try to pull it up and when I provided 2 credit cards he said my order still wasn't coming up. Turns out apple doesn't have a system that allows employees to reference orders via the card used. After I gave him the order number he said he found it and it must have been a "glitch" and he went and got the phone. That same day the credit card I handed him was charged for over $1,200 at the Apple Store. I called the credit card company and the card was used manually in the store. I would avoid this location at all cost and I sincerely hope Apple opens an investigation into this employee. read more

I recently went into the Apple store with my mom to switch out her phone due to hardware issues. We were assisted by gentlemen name Sal unfortunately he did not give us the service that we felt we should have had. In the end my mom received another phone from Apple that still has hardware issues and we can't even get the phone activated. Here I am still without a phone and it still has issues. For as crazy as this store is my appointment went very smooth. I can't speak to dropping in, but I made my appointment online and everything went well. I got there early and I did have to wait all the way to my appointment time. You can basically try anything in the store so my husband fiddled with some gadget that wasn't even being demo'd but they took one out for him. Plenty to pass the time. The Apple employee came to us and handled everything right there from a tablet. I had to get my phone replaced and I was completely done within a half an hour including setting up my new phone. ADA & CDPH VIOLATION!!! Today I went to purchase a new MacBook Pro and accessories. I waited 15 minutes in one line, went through their process, gave my name, was asked to come back in 10 minutes and wait in a different line. My husband and I came back 10 minutes later to wait in the line we were told to wait in. While we waited a security guard came to me and said my mask wasn't good enough. I explained that under ADA Title III I am exempt from even wearing a mask but I am trying my hardest to make people feel comfortable instead of walking around not wearing a mask at all which would make my condition 100% better. The security guard went and retrieved the store Manager. The store manager refused to help me unless I put on a mask that they provided because they said my mask wasn't good enough. Why didn't they say something when I first walked up? They didn't have an issue with it then and I wouldn't have waisted my time trying to explain ADA Title III and the CDPH Guidance. They didn't care and said if I didn't put it on then I couldn't come into the store. They also don't have the right to question my disability and ask me what it is. EVERYONE was wearing a mask. It wouldn't have been hard to put me at a table by myself when the store inside was not packed with people. ADA Title III and the California Department of Public Health June 18, 2020 Guidance for Face Covering clearly states, "The following individuals are exempt from wearing a face covering: * Persons with a medical condition, mental health condition, or disability that prevents wearing a face covering." I got a new iPhone 13 pro max from AT&T. It had screen issues. I took it to AT&T who told me an Apple Store had to deal with it. Apple Store in Carlsbad finally saw me after a 90 min wait. Brian right off the bat decided it was user error. This was my 4th iPhone in like 10 years. He would not let me explain the issues, and after 3 minutes said he did not have time to help me etc, he insisted AT&T must handle it. Back at AT&T they told me they also had had problems with Apple Store Carlsbad. They suggested I go to Apple Store Escondido. So at Escondido Apple store they replaced my screen (on the brand new phone) and now it's fine. Never, ever go to the Carlsbad Apple Store unless you like being talked down to by an @ss$ole. My company partnered up with Apple so when we needed to exchange a monitor for a new one, they worked with us to get a replacement for us within minutes. They also figured out what was wrong with the previous monitor (it was a bad plug), but since they already opened the box for a new monitor for me, I got another one with no questions asked. I was also able to get a new MacBook Pro here with my company discounts for less and they were able to update and get my Macbook prepped and ready to go with all the software I needed. Took my phone for a screen repair, when I went to pick up my phone I assumed everything was good since the gave me the phone. I left drove home like about 45 minutes from the store, get home trying to sign in iCloud and get my apps but to my surprise I had no cellular service. Ummm so I check the SIM insert and NO SIM card. I was beyond pissed because by the time I got home it was 730pm and the close at 8pm. Like why? Very inconvenient but they did remember to give me my screen protector. I went to the store Sunday afternoon to upgrade an iPhone and possibly buy the new iwatch. I walked in and saw a lot of sales people so I thought I would get help and questions answered. I was looking at the iwatch case and even commented to the sales guy if he had said something to me. He just smiled and didn't say anything to me? Weird right. There seems to be a lot of bad reviews recently for the battery replacement issue and I get it. It's super frustrating that Apple as a company has really failed us with this whole issue. After so many customers cited issues with the battery life, Apple comes out with a memo about replacing it for $29 instead of $79. I noticed my battery life recently wasn't great and figured ok, I'll pay the $29 but I was at work googling iPhone battery replacement and found on Apple's website that there was a batch of iPhones that Apple had determined received a faulty battery to start and that you could put in your serial number to see if you were part of that group. Turns out my husband and mine phone qualified for this! I'm think ok..wtf! Seriously. Why didn't Apple send all the customers that are part of this group an email telling us this? Shame on you Apple! Lame donkey balls. Getting an appointment at the genius store is almost impossible. Totally agree with the other reviews!! I had to try multiple times and happened to find one a couple days later here at Carlsbad and decided to book it knowing that my husband wanted us to come here the weekend before to get this issue fixed without an appointment. So here is where my review starts with this Carlsbad store. We arrive at 9:50am without appointments and already there are at least 10 people in line outside the store. Ugh. Great. Parked and walked over. 2 Apple staff were outside already helping people before the store opened! Awesome! Multiple lines were formed for different issues. We got assigned into the battery issue line. They let the battery issue line in first and told us exactly where to wait. A few minutes pass and Nick comes out to greet and help us. He was super helpful and did the diagnostics for our phones and even though our batteries passed, he said they would replace them without charge because we were part of the "quality program" group. He also explained if something were to happen with our phones during the battery replacement and that if they could NOT replace the battery for hardware issues, etc...we would get a new phone. Ok. Cool! We left the store at 10:27am. We were told it would be ready by 1pm. We went and did errands and came back at 1:30pm. We did have to wait a few minutes before we got our phones back. My husband got his without issue. Turned out mine had an hardware issue with the new battery and I was given a new iPhone 6s at no cost! Overall, super happy with the experience and Apple staff there without having an appointment for the battery replacement issue. I found this location so much better than the UTC one!! I stopped by UTC location the day before and I couldn't even get anyone to help. Boo. read more

Ryan just helped me waste nearly two hours of my time. I told him my issue when I asked for a Genius appointment, and was told by my Genius, who was plenty courteous and helpful, that unless I had an extended Apple iCare plan (or whatever the terminology is), that I wouldn't be able to process my request during the time I was at the store. I need my phone for work, and with an updated phone number, which I handled on my day off through my carrier, Apple is telling me the number is associated with another account. Apple's service - aside from my Genius - both on the part of Ryan, and their policy that an available number with a carrier can still be attached to another account is poor at best. I can't stand reviews that attempt to ruin a business' credibility, so the Genius' service is why I'm leaving a generous three star review. read more

iPhone 13 pro max screen protector- service horrible. I purchased on the Apple store on line. It had 2 choices, purchase for next day deliver and purchase for in store pickup with installation. Last model, I chose installation, there are many YouTube videos showing the quick and easy way the Apple store installed the protector with no bubbles. It took the lady 30 seconds. I had an appointment to speak with someone for a non-working series 2 watch. I've had it less than 2 years and swimming with it apparently has completely zapped it. Will not turn on at all. In order to send to get further evaluation there is a $299 flat shipping fee. What!?! $299 shipping repair fee for a $300 watch?? Only in the US! I had to go to this location twice in one day and they didn't resolve anything! These employees aren't the least bit competent; defining lousy customer service, Genius Bar? After 30 minutes of waiting for them to initiate some sort of troubleshooting/repair, I literally watch as the guy who checked me in and said he would help leaves the building, and the guy who introduced himself to help me also left the building, through the front door! Needless to say, I was angry about my time being wasted and my needs unfulfilled. So I do the next logical thing, find someone else to help me. Unfortunately, after waiting for another 30 minutes for someone to assist me in completing my setup (that they had started literally 6 hours earlier), but they couldn't even do that right! No, the employee tells me he can't help with my SIM card and that I should contact Best Buy or Sprint! WTF?!! I walk into this store with a working iPad with a fractured screen, 5 hours later I have a brand new iPad that still won't connect to the internet, still isn't setup, oh and I still have to contact other businesses in my limited and quite valuable time, just to get my iPad working properly, but all those businesses are closed now because these "Genius Bar" dipshits wasted my entire day. My MacBook needed a new battery and apparently, Apple does not allow anyone else repair the computer except themselves. (See "right to repair" arguments.) A third-party repair shop quoted me around $60 for the new battery and another $40 or so for labor to install it. However, once they took a look at the laptop itself, this shop got cold feet and didn't think they could safely replace the battery without damaging the laptop. So, I took this into Apple itself. To get an appointment with the Genius Bar is equivalent to booking concert tickets. They are fully booked for weeks. I had to make an appointment for a week later and come within a very small window. Upon returning, the tech at the Genius Bar did a quick diagnostic test to see if it really needed a new battery and if anything else was wrong. Upon confirming it needed a battery replacement, he informed me the laptop would need to be left with the store and overnight shipped to an off-site repair center. The quote for the replacement was $199. I said fine. Fast-forward to a week later, and I get an email from Apple saying that the repair cost quote has changed after examination from the technician. $575 was the new quote. I then had the option to say I wanted to continue with the repair and accept the terms. Or, I could cancel the repair altogether and have the laptop shipped back to the store. I opted to have it returned as at that price, I could just get a new chromebook. My overall experience is that Apple is positioning itself to be like the Mercedes-Benz of electronics. 90% of it is for showing off and aesthetics. Maintenance is totally unaffordable. Only certified technicians can even handle the maintenance because the product is so complicated. Any third-party maintenance will void the warranty. It's a luxury good. read more
