Refuse to serve us and took a larger group instead

I agree with the rest of the reviewers. We had a new one pop up near us a few years back and I thought we'd give it a try - ya never know, you might get lucky an dget a good place - nah! Applebees is Applebees. Service slow, hostess rude, manager inept (he was fired already too!) Several of our last visits we were seated right away - I always ask for a close table because my wife is disabled and last time I got rolling eyes from the hostess. We sat there for no less than 15 minutes for anyone even came over to get out drink order and that was only because the manager came over to ask how things were. Food is 'ok' - nothing special really. They all of these new Tyler Florence-inspired meals but they don't inspire me. The one good thing they added to the menu were Sweet potato fries, and then they removed them after a few months. The only way we go now, is if we get a giftcard from someone and even then, I'd rather regift it to someone else. *AVOID this place if you can* read more

My family and I went for dinner here tonight after I got done bowling. We get in there, and we get seated right away. We get our drinks and our appetizers. One hour passes and we still don't have our entree's. Our waiter comes over another half an hour later and tells us that our food was given to the wrong table. Please keep in mind that I am a teenager with my mom and grandparents. The manager comes over some time later and asks us what is going on (our waiter said he had already told the manager what had happened) we asked him if he already knew and he said he just knew we had been sitting here for a long time which gives us the impression that our waiter lied to us and forgot to put our order in. My grandparents are livid at this point and the manager called them disrespectful when we had been sitting there for two hours now watching others who came in way after us get their food and leave. The manager fights with them for a while and my mom comes in, and we understand there are mistakes in restaurants, but instead of making us wait hours with no explanation just talk to us so we can decide whether we should stay or leave. The manager continues to be rude, but finally says our meal is free as our food finally comes out. The fries were burnt to a crisp, my mashed potatoes were cold and my grandpas burger was disgusting. We will not be returning and it's sad to see that the service is still just as awful as it was three years ago. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! read more

I ordered online from their two for $22.00 menu, drove over where staff came out with our order immediately. With the Corona virus being so active, we tried to follow all the guidelines. I was handed a folder that contained the bill, and a pen to sign. I did not know if these two items had been sanitized, before they were handed to me. We had sanitizer in the car, to use on our hands. The two orders were horrible, over cooked and heavily salted. We threw most of it away, rather than try to force it down. Based on this experience, we will try other restaurants that offer take-away service during this Corona attack. read more

I haven't been to many restaurants since the whole pandemic scare, but yesterday my bro (homeboy) wanted to eat out so we went to Applebee's and I wish I could go back in time to not go there or go to Chili's instead. The wait was almost unbearable and once we were sat down to a table the service was a 5 out of 10. The food wasn't that great tasting to begin with but it wound up tearing up his and my stomach. I've been back and forth to the bathroom several times since last night. I won't be going there again any time soon. Eat there at your own risk. read more

Worst service ever at Applebee's 's Grill + Bar on Cortez RD. In Bradenton , FL. Waiting for a waiter for ever , then another waiter passes by where we were sitting and spilled , looked like a milkshake on the floor. Instead of cleaning it up , she gets a cone that says wet area be careful. The spill of the milkshake stays on the floor , everyone walks around it. Every single time I step foot in this Applebee's I get greeted with the worst customer service by the hosts. Never once had a friendly or kind encounter with a host or hostess here. Tonight just so happened to be the worst conversation I've ever had with the man named Bill. Walked in an with no, "hello" or any communication at all, he started to grab menus, i asked for a booth around the bar- he immediately told me no. I asked why and he then informed it would be 5-7 minutes (no big deal), I sat at the waiting area, he then told us to follow him and brought us to a table not in the bar.. Servers are always on point here which is why I keep coming back. Hope to see some smiles or even the slightest bit of happiness in a greeting. Also, thanks to our server (Tai?) on his great service! My boyfriend and I ordered the perfect strawberry margarita and found a fly mixed into our drink, we picked it out, assuming it's hot out and sometimes it's uncontrollable. So we then ordered another round and found YET AGAIN another fly and particles or ground up fly pieces in our drink as well. Our appetite was killed and when the manager finally showed up he giggled and did not seem to care but took our second round of drinks off the tab. We then had to walk up to the bar with our card to pay for our disgusting dirty meal because the waitress never came back to close us out. Very poor service again second time we have been seated and no one came to our table.A waitress was out taking a smoke break at 6:00 during dinner time then she comes back and goes to a table that had just been seated again no one came to our table. My wife and I and 6 others went to the Applebee's on Cortez Road in Bradenton this afternoon. This is the third time that we have had Haley as our server. She is very pleasant but our orders have not been as good as usual. About a month ago my wife ordered the French Onion soup and it had to go back since it was cold. Then last week my wife ordered a hamburger medium well with Swiss and it came out rare with American cheese, by the time her hamburger arrived the rest of us were finished with our meal Then today I ordered the French onion soup and Oriental chicken salad. I specifically asked for the soup to come out first and the salad came out first. She asked me if I wanted grilled or fried chicken and I asked for grilled. She didn't tell me that it just came out Ice cold from the refrigerator. A few minutes after the salad arrived she came out with the soup which I stated I no longer wanted. On the way home my wife told me that all the fries on 6 hamburger plates were cold. I think Haley needs additional training and the wait staff needs to have better communication with the chefs. We had 2 disappointing experiences here at Applebees this past week. On Monday we ordered takeout, it was 2 for $20, and when I went to pick it up, the server demanded $30, and when I said that was an error, he insisted he was correct, so when I arrived home the order slip stated that the pasta order was pasta parmesan with shrimp, when it was pasta alfredo with chicken and broccoli, and thank god they did not make it with shrimp, because the diner was shellfish allergic. Several days later we dined in as a party of 4 for appetizers and drinks, the appetizers delivered to our table were all wrong, they were cold and inedible, and they were replaced by a steak frijihita that was so tough no one could eat it, and we wasted $36 + a $6 Tip, on food that was left uneaten on the table. We won't be dining here again in the immediate future. Take this place off you list! read more

Last night I came to the restaurant for dinner. Service was a little slow, but I understood that our server was also the bartender and was pretty busy. The food and drink my friend and I asked for were great and exactly what we asked for. Just before the food came out, I asked the manager if she could turn on one of the 10-15 televisions in the bar onto the Tampa Bay Lightning game. It was the sixth game fighting for the Stanley Cup. I pointed to one TV and the manager said no someone else is watching it. So I point at another, no someone else is watching it. So I point across the bar the any of the five over there and she said, all of the TVs are being watched right now. They were ALL on the Buccaneers game. I was definitely a little mad when told this, especially by who I assumed was a manager. So this review is not in place for the food or their service given by my server, it is in place because of the treatment received by management when asking for a simple request of turning one of the 10 or 15 televisions on the a different game. read more

I rate this a 1 star because today, on May 31st at 3:15, my family of 8 and myself entered this restaurant and waited for an entire 15 minutes to be seated. We were never greeted to at least say it would be a moment or anything. The hostess came up to the front where we were to get menus. Reached over my daughters head and still never said a word to us. Extremely poor customer service. Mind you, this restaurant was not crowded at all. I could count the amount of customers in the dining areas. After her rude gesture over my 10 year old daughters head and never once opening her mouth to say a single hello, we left. hello yelp friends ,last night we dined at applebee's on cortez road bradenton ,,,the place was busy but we were seated within a reasonable time ,the server was both the bartender and waitress she did the best to try to take care of our table although the wait for the food took a little longer than expected anyway she was very nice and finally the food was served ,,the order was good except for one item which was a little disappointing because looking at the web site menu the 'baby back ribs' looked really good and for course we wanted to trying them not a good idea...not only were they tough and overcooked certainly not double glazed as the menu suggest. just plain dry and once again tough ,baby back should fall off the bone not the once at applebbe's tough as nails ,,anyway nothing was mention because that would have meant waiting another half hour to replace the order ,,,so in closing do NOT order them you will not like them .other than that place is ok read more

I was pleasantly surprised! We got there around 6:15 on a fri so it was busy, but it only took about 15 mins to get a seat! Our waitress was Collette and she was awesome! She was helpful with the menu and never forgot about us (easy to do, I would think if it's THAT busy). I ordered the maple/mustard glaze salmon, it was freakin phenomenal!! The glaze was so so good. My husband ordered the whiskey burger and the beef stir fry- he really liked both! Dollar margaritas are good, try the strawberry! I only wish the menu had some more seafood selections other than fried shrimp and fried fish. read more

Not a good experience at all. 45 mins before the food was brought out after ordering, no silverware provided until after we waited for the waitress to stop back by. Ordered the 8 oz. Sirloin and about 3 oz's were fat. Total of about 1hr 30mins there and got 1 refill. Will choose to spend my money at another restaurant. read more

We've always enjoyed going to our local Applebees. We know allot of the staff and they're always fun. Apparently, they were short on kitchen staff Friday night so the hostess told us about the problem and that they were backed up in the kitchen like 35 mins. We said ok we can have a drink. We asked for a high top and pointed to one. Hostess got louder and said " you did hear what I said? No one is being seated. You can go sit in your car or stand outside". Not how you talk to people. My wife and I went to dinner last evening. We sat at the bar, as we often do. Bartender was very attentive. Wine we wanted was 2 for 1 for happy hour. We ordered the 2 for $25 meal. Both of us had a nice salad (2 choices). I had the chicken and shrimp meal. The side was delicious crisp potatoes. Yum! My wife had a mac and cheese dish with chicken tenders. Very well made and a lot. She took home leftovers. All in all a great bargain and great food. We'll be back. read more

There were a lot of small errors that made our experience less than satisfactory. We ordered boneless wings as an appetizer. When they came out we were not given silverware. The server did not return to the table for a while so I just ate the boneless wings with my hands. The entrees were then delivered by a manager. I asked for silverware and he quickly handed me a set... except it was missing the fork. I got the fork quickly after. The manager had asked if we needed another round of drinks and I said yes. They never came. I asked the server for the drinks when he finally came back and he got them quickly. We ate our sirloin stir fry and chicken mac and cheese which were both better than expected. The server then brought the check without asking if I wanted anything else. Overall, the experience wasn't very good. However, the food was great and the employees were very friendly. read more

I've never walked out of a restaurant before without ordering food, but that's exactly what I just did. Sat down at the bar on a moderately busy to normal Monday night. Took 5 minutes to place a drink order. Another 5 to get the drink. And then another 2 minutes to get the menu. Another guy sat down just after I got my drink and his order was taken almost immediately. Meanwhile I sitting there with my menu closed infront of me, waiting for this atrocious bartender to take my food order. Wish I would have gotten her name but oh well. If you're in there and there's a big boned, blonde haired lady behind the bar, get a table instead. I ended up just paying for my beer and leaving hungry, good thing Outback Steakhouse is across the street. read more

Cannot hand a correct order to Grubhub. It's absurd really. Do not order car side or from grub hub if you want your order correct.

I like Applebees, I always have. Used to go frequently with friends and family and loved the Bourbon Street Steak. I am here today and I ordered the quesadilla burger. It is a burger with fixings between two toasty tortillas. Very sloppy to eat. Probably would not order again. My husband enjoyed his baby back ribs. Our server was nice. read more

Ashley was my waitress today. I am very much pleased with our visit. She is a beautiful soul and we are happy to see such well trained employees. Welp had a coupon to try this place again. 40 minutes after we sat down to get the food we ordered. The waitress came rushing by at least 5 times in that time hurriedly asked if everything was ok then running off again. It was the third time around that she stopped long enough to notice my drink was empty. Then whenever she came by after that it was oh I'm sorry the cooks are behind because "it's busy" (hint: not any busier than any other time we've been there and received better service). Then she promised that the manager would be delivering the food. No manager ever came up to the table. The food itself was hot and tasty so maybe the chefs could give the front of house some tips on being good. We will not be returning to this particular location despite it being within walking distance to where we live. read more

We stopped yesterday,NY Eve, about 2 pm, place not crowed. The service outrageously poor, we ordered the two for 25 , the girl forgot to take her order for the additional appetizer came back to get that, when our plates were delivered to the table the young man asked is there anything else ,we said yes we need butter he never returned with the butter had asked our waitress twice for the butter never came back with it or Heinz 57. I got up from the table and went looking for the butter and 57 sauce, so I went to look for it behind the counter and I was stopped, but now our food was cold. I told her when she brings the Heinz 57 sauce bring the manager with her also, the manager showed up about 10 minutes later and apologized and I told him that system where one person delivers the food and another takes the order is ridiculous. We were offered desserts, whatever happened to comping the meal that got cold. I will say our food was delicious what we did eat of it but don't go there they can't even have good service when it's not crowded. Very disappointed, we loved our Applebee's in Manahawkin Nj, never had this problem and we were regulars there. read more

Altogether on phone waiting 45 min. Note corporate does not allow voicemail at night. No way to worn Applebee's manager of problem in kitchen. Likely phones were busy as other people were complaining about being sick. Hopefully they corrected the kitchen contamination issue. We won't be back. read more

This Applebee's is on par with most of the chain. Good food at moderate prices. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is uplifting and fun. The bar has nice drink deals and has a good crowd at night. Don't expect prime cut steaks but you get a very nice steak for the money. read more

Below average food and service. Ordered a milkshake, got the wrong flavor delivered to the table. Waitress was flirting shamelessly with my brother, just the two of us dining and the server had no idea what the relationship was so that kind of gooey over the top wink wink stuff leaves me really cold. Does this server assume this is going to lead to a better tip? Maybe they better find out who is paying first. Food was pretty gross. It is hard to screw up a basic burger and fries, but the fries were not cooked properly and the burger tasted like a Sysco Meat-O-Matic patty with no flavor at all. You know what? McDonald's is better than this place and they both offer the same zero atmosphere, so just toodle on down to Mickey D's and get your burger on. This was the worst experience I have had at a restaurant in a long time. Food came out at different times was cold and took too long to get it corrected. Manager never came out to see me and when I paid for my drink (at least meal was comped because I sent it back and didnt eat it) which was 9 dollars and some change the waiter didn't even bring me my change!
