First I should explain, I am not a fan of chain restaurants. However there are a few on a very short list that I do enjoy, and it just so happens that Applebees is one of them. The restaurant in question isn't a particularly rare animal in Cleveland, TN with its poor customer service and horrible management (which seems par for the course for most casual dining in town) but this day in question was the pinnacle of a long string of failures at this location. My order was simple two quesadilla burgers /w fries, riblet platter /w fries and coleslaw, and grilled chicken Caesar salad. So I arrive at the specified time given and park in the carside spot right at the door and wait 15 mins before anyone comes to the door, even though I had to wait I tip the young man who brings me my food and take off for home in rush hour traffic. Upon reaching home I discover that all of the fries are missing and zero cole slaw, so I call back to explain what has happened and am told "I'll have it waiting on you" so I get back in my car to sit in rush hour traffic for some fries and cole slaw. So here I am sitting in the carside spot AGAIN and after 20mins of sitting(waiting on me huh) in my car the same guy comes out.. He is very apologetic and says that the manager has given us some $5 off cards for our next visit. I very politely tell the food runner that he can take those cards back to his manager with a message for me. That my wallet and refrigerator can no longer bare weight of all the repeated failures of this location and he would be better served giving these cards to someone who would patronize this business in the future because I would no longer be. Those words spoken at an even tone seemed to upset the food runner and for that I am sorry, but for speaking my mind about such poor food quality and customer service I am not. P.S. Just so you know I'm not full of hot air I am going to attach pictures of my wifes raw (Yes raw) hamburger and the Caesar salad that was dressed ( for some reason) and placed with warm food to wilt. read more

I come here and have a bad experience, avoid the place for a few weeks, then try again...with the same results. Food was cold, staff was MIA. I was with a group of six (family, no drinking), and we were here for almost two hours! Service was bad, food was average due to tepid temperature, and they were slow. I'm really surprised about the bad reviews on here. My wife and I eat here all the time and have only had an issue once and it was an honest mistake by the chef on a takeout order. If you've ever eaten at Applebee's, then you know what the food is like. It's great! I've been here on 3 different occasions. Each time I haven't had a pleasant experience at all. So 3 strikes they are out. Service is always slow. They claim to be busy every time yet there is hardly anyone there. The second time we came they seated us and took our order and then later told us that their credit card machine was down and had been all day. Would have been nice to know before we were seated. Today it took forever to get seated and then we waited over an hour to get our food. The food was over cooked and even burnt in places. Server only came back to give us our bill. Salads arrived at the same time as our meal, waitress shrugged and offered no apology when we told her that was unacceptable. 4. No manager ever came to our table, even AFTER we told the waitress to remove the uneaten salads from our bill. 5. Wrote an email of complaint THE SAME EVENING to Applebee's HQ and received a lame note from the Regional Manager, and unlike many chains no coupon or complimentary anything was offered. - - - We were traveling home to Florida and stopped for dinner, we had eaten at 2 other Applebee's in Michigan with good results. I REALLY DONT EVEN WANT TO GIVE ONE STAR !!! This place is horrible !!!! My husband and I went to eat there tonight and we got sat in a two seater booth it took our waitress 15 minutes just to come and take our drink and food order and when she decided to bring our drinks back out which was about 5 or more minutes later , she had no straws and said I'll bring you a straw back give me a sec , she came back and walk past our booth 2 times never once acknowledged that she still hadn't given me a straw so my husband decided we should head over to ocharleys so we got up and walked out ! 30 mins later !! Worst experience of any Applebee's I've ever been too. Cheese fries were like cardboard mozzarella sticks tasted like they had been in the freezer for years before they cooked them and still had frozen cheese in the middle. This is not a family atmosphere restaurant. We were greeted at the door by a hostess with her shirt unzipped to low then only to be assigned a waitress who was showing as much breast as a playboy cover. I work 3rd shift so on my night off I woke up really craving Applebee's honey bbq boneless wings. I've always eaten inside the restaurant but tonight I placed my order online for carside to go. I ordered an appetizer sampler with wanton tacos (which were the best part of the meal), honey bbq boneless wings, and taco nachos, I also ordered the stuffed rigatoni for my significant other. My total was $26.32. I wanted ranch with my wings but the only option online was blue cheese. When I arrived to pick up my food I went inside the restaurant and spoke with one of the waitresses. I told her I had a to go order with boneless wings and wanted ranch but the only option online was blue cheese she said "she will have your order out in just a minute and I'll let her know about your ranch". I go back to my car and wait for my order. The "taco nachos" was just queso with hamburger meat added which was absolutely disappointing bc I figured it would be more similar to taco nachos. The chips themselves were so ridiculously salty that even loading the entire chip with the queso and hamburger meat didn't come close to masking the salt and over half the chips were stale. I did not receive any ranch for my wings, the wings were just plain fried bites of chicken, and I was only given a tiny to go sauce cup with regular bbq sauce for wings that are typically covered in whichever sauce was chosen. HORRIBLE! Do Not go there. We ordered an appetizer. The onion rings were all bread overcooked and hard to eat. Then the entrees came, upon my spouse using his fork to take the first bite, a hair was dangling from the food. we slid the entrees to the middle of the table and told the waitress, no thanks. My steak was maybe 6oz(gave my 6 yr old all of the steak and she was still starving) and the only difference between the salad part and a regular side salad was the 6 pieces of red bell pepper. I have eaten at this location before and am not sure why all the negative reviews. Surely nothing to warrant anything lower than 3 stars. Anyway, had lunch around 1 with my wife and waited less than a minute to be seated by our very friendly server Harley T. The environment was pretty laid back and serene with a few diners at booths and at the bar. She got our orders promptly and shortly thereafter got our food. We had steak quesadillas and wonton chicken tacos as appetizers and the double crunch shrimp w/fries and the caprese chicken mozzarella as the entrees. Most of the items were new to the menu but were very good and satisfying. Our server kept checking up on us to see if we were happy with our meal and if we needed refills on our drinks which is always a must for me when judging good service. Overall the experience at this establishment was pleasant, relaxing and most of all feeling content from good food. read more

This was the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. I was at work and knew Applebee's was only 10 minutes from me and thought,hey I will order online and pick up a burger in the 30 minutes I get for lunch. So I ordered and went at noon to pick it up and they said, "oh someone already picked that up". I ask did they have identification, because I have already paid for it online and would like to have my food. The waitress, said no but she added to it and picked it up. I then said "you guys suck at this online ordering" and she said, Hold on I'll be right back. Out comes this 20 something 5 foot 9 guy who I assume wants to be oh so bad. He said "you are not going to be rude to my waitresses!". I said excuse me, so he repeated it. At this point yes, I am hungry, going to be late from dinner and angry. So I told him what I said, I told him I didn't curse nor threaten and since I was there to pick up food that I paid for but you gave to someone else without identification, I stand by what I said "You Guys Suck at This!" So I told him I had no reason to be rude, just give me back my money and I would be on my way. He said he could not do that and if he did it would take a few hours. Ok, this goes on for a while, but at no time until I spoke with another manager did anyone apologize for their mistake, they just wanted it to be my mistake.
