I'm not at all sure why this restaurant is getting all these bad reviews, but they do not reflect my experience at all. The service was five star all the way. We were greeted immediately by our waitress, she was super friendly, our food came out within 15 minutes, the food was great and we were never without a drink. Arrived Friday Dec 12th after driving all day at 6:30 pm. This restaurant is usually less crowded than the other popular places. Thought we could get in eat and go home. The place was half full or half empty. We were told there was a 20 minute wait due to the kitchen being backed up. WTF? We asked to be seated and have a beverage while we waited. If I could give a zero star, it would be appropriate. For starters, my wife and I waited quite a while for a hostess to seat us, although the reastaurant was 1/4 full. This alone should have been a clue. Finally the host/barman/waiter seated us. We ordered and then waited, and waited, and waited for our dinner. The fish and chips were really awful and the French dip would have been passable if it had arrived with the requisite dip. It took 15 minutes and multiple inquiries to get the dip. One of the ABSOLUTE WORST experiences I have EVER had! Top 3 worst! We walk in and are immediately seated. The restaurant is only about 1/4 of the way full. Hardly anyone there ... which probably should have been our first clue as to how things would go. After about 5 minutes our waitress walks over and takes our drink and food order. A couple minutes pass and the drinks get to the table. Great! That's as far as we got! Drinks! Our waitress stopped by after 15 minutes of our order being in and said it would be out shortly. Another 15 minutes pass ... 30 minutes after our order was in ... and our waitress tells us once more that our order would be out shortly. 40 minutes in after placing our order and now 50 total minutes of being in the restaurant, out waitress approaches us and says that they are backed up and she's not sure how long it's going to be. At that point was asked for our ticket for the drinks so that we could find a restaurant that actually seemed to care about their customers. We ended up not having to pay for the two drinks, though I did find it a bit offensive that they're were actually about to charge us after having to deal with such horrific service. If you're that backed up, you should have let customers know as they were being seated. Not after being there for nearly an hour. At that point you're basically lying to your customers by withholding that information. On top of that, we sat for 30 minutes without having our drinks refilled, even though the waitress approached us twice letting us know our food would " be out shortly". And there was no asking for refills as her comments were in passing, not even fully stopping at our table. We also witnessed 2 other table complaining about their food. One table complaining that all their food was cold. The waitress took it back and brought out new food about 10 minutes later ... the food was still cold! The second table complained about cold food and some of their food was so hard that it was completely uneatable. They ended up asking for boxes and leaving. There is absolutely no way that I will ever step one foot in this Applebee's location! Honestly, the best thing for this entire community is for them to close their doors forever. read more

My husband went there tonight for dinner with a friend for his birthday...thinking you know maybe since the remodel the food and service would have improved as well..however he was terribly mistaken. He said when they arrived they waited 20 minutes to be acknowledged let alone get a drink, and the service declined from there ..moving on from that I had him order me a to go Quesadilla Chicken Salad and as you can see in the pictures it was absolute garbage...it was missing the corn salsa,the pico, the tortilla strips ..and they couldnt even put enough lettuce in then drenched it in a dressing that was not asked for as I got ranch on the side...this is an absolute disgrace that that food was even allowed to leave the kitchen ..besides the sorry ass cook why didn't the expo, the bartender the to go notice that this was incorrect...this is why this place will continue to be trash because you clearly don't train your staff or have any sort of dignity in your work. I haven't been inside an Applebee's in years! Just like in "Who Cloned Tyrone," stepping into Applebee's feels oddly familiar, but is it really the same old AB we know and love? I always wonder who is still keeping them alive, much like the funny quote, "Who's keeping Arby's alive?" While many chain restaurants are struggling, it's interesting to see the buzz around Applebee's $1 margaritas in all those funny viral videos. Although I didn't order a margarita so I could pretend I was pinky-toe deep in a bowl of chips and guac in Mexico, I did buy a strawberry and mango daiquiri and was channeling my inner Puerto Rican princess! I couldn't taste any of the Barcard but the drink was superb! Hiding alcohol well in a frozen drink is a hidden talent. When there's too much alcohol, people tend to nurse their drinks, but if it's well-hidden, you'll hear, "I need another round, bartender!" While I nursed my drink, families were coming in by the carload. Besides the margaritas, there has to be something else drawing people in, right? Had a so-so experience here. The supposed to be alcoholic beverage was completely watered down, and my date's meal was obscenely undercooked. This place is known as to having bad customer care, waitresses there are rude and dont seem to want to attend us. They sat us down & we had a normal wait atleast but as soon as i barely ordered 2 kids drinks my waitress walked away & didnt seem to want to wait for my other drink orders. Apperantly they seemed to change their own rule or law" that my iD had to be horizontal in order to recieve a margarita. As soon as we ordered appetizers she soon walked away (my waitress). I'm not sure what's happening with the Applebees brand but this was the worst Applebees I have ever been to. They had no sweet tea, no boneless wings, the blenders were broken so they can't make frozen drinks, no sugar, no honey barbecue, and no chicken period. it took over 45min for our food to arrive to the table, and our server Tanesha act like she was lost or high or something. We asked questions and it was like each question was stumbling her. Our server dropped ranch dressing down my back and did not even apologize. I don't know who owns this franchise but you really need to get a hold over your establishment. To be this close to the Battery it would seem like service would be better. Sadly, I've never found their equal from my local Applebee's. I made the mistake of not reading Yelp before coming here. I'm in Covington for work and assumed, "Can't go wrong with an Applebees for a quick bite and drink." I was sadly mistaken. Ordered a whiskey neat and a steak and shrimp meal. Easy enough. The whiskey was watered down in the bottle, knew it when the bartender put it in front of me. Took my first sip and noticed a fly in the drink, lovely. You could taste the water in the drink. It was truly the worst attempt to stretch a bottle I've ever seen. Steak was rolled on a grill to look like it was charred and then most likely microwaved, shrimp were mush, potatoes were fine I guess. Broccoli was old and re-steamed. Some of them were rotten. I don't know how Applebees corporate is set up but they need to address this hellhole. You know what to expect going to a chain and it doesn't have to be top tier, but holy sh-, at least try. read more

Placed our $64.00 ordered arrived :15 minutes sooner than they said too, after :10 minutes past our time someone came to the car took our name :20 minutes later no one ever came out for us or any other car. Walked inside the place which was not super busy (less than half the tables in use)and 1 person told me they would get someone to bring my order. For the next :10 minutes i stood in the middle of the walk way and not one person came back to me or asked if they could help. Eventually I just left. No need to give business to a place that acts like they could give a dang about serving someone standing in the middle of the isle. Bruh this restaurant is the worst! I order my food online at 11 for it to be ready by 11:45 pm. Once I received a notification saying our food was ready I head inside and ask for my food, southwest chicken and chicken Alfredo. Instead of getting the food I ordered the waitress hands me one container talking about "is this it?" Then come to find out that they gave my food away to the person that came in before me. I asked about it, the waiter comes back and says oh they're getting them ready now. I politely said just take them off, don't worry about it. No apology, he walks away. The chicken tenders I ordered were so over cooked the roof of my mouth is raw. Like eating a bowl of captain crunch without milk. He comes to check on us, ONE TIME, which was when we asked for the check and a to go box. I'm not a Karen so he still got a hefty 24% tip, but I've never been so appalled by the LACK of customer service. Seriously a massive waste of 50 dollars. Food was not good. I ordered a simple steak and shrimp meal. The medium steak I ordered came out charred, after sending it back, I received another charred steak. The burgers are small and don't taste good. The only saving grace was the alcohol. Service was horrible. Our server disappeared for 20 minutes. Beware!! Big mistake!! My 9 yo. grand daughter wanted to have her birthday lunch at Applebee's in Covington. We arrived around 11:30 am. I noticed only one server on the floor. It took a while to order our food and my son ordered the SpInach and Artichoke dip t start. It took at least15 minutes to arrive. We ordered our lunch at the same time we order the dip and that took an additional 20-25 minutes. When it finally arrived my grand daughters cheeseburger had burned cheese on it. When we mnntioned it to our server she said she noticed it when she picked up the order. My son pulled the cheese off. The server said it looked gross. HONEST TO GOD!! Who says that? My husband and son both commented on how dry their Salmon was. And to mke matters worse we were told the bar doesn't open on Sunday until 12:30 even though Covington, GA has adopted the brunch bill and serves Beer, Wine and Spirits starting at 11 am.
