While being seated, I was excited to see the computerized gaming console on the table, but disappointed to learn there is a charge to play. I ordered the chicken and shrimp with red potatoes dish. People are great but food has taken a slow dive over the years. Menu should have been left alone. They added fried honey chicken to Mac and Cheese and the oil and glaze from it overpower the Mac and cheese. You sit at a table with a tablet device and it has a trivia playing. You find our moments later that if you actually stated plying they charge you $1.00 No big deal but someone should advise you as you're being seated. We went here today for a late lunch with my family, we sat there and waited for 10 min before I flagged down a waitress and asked her who was taking care of us. The waiter finally came over, took our drinks and appetizers order, 10 more minutes went by and he came back, empty handed and asked us for our entrees order, he took the order and left. Almost half an hour sitting there and we still didn't have our drinks, not even water. Needless to say our experience was ruined by then, and with two hungry kids things weren't pretty. The food, well not our favorite. We've been there a few times, but this is by far the worst experience we've ever had. We went out to eat Saturday night and ordered our drinks, and when the drinks came out ordered our food. As my son took a sip out of his he said it tasted weird and moved it away. I looked over to see if they had given him the wrong drink and when I looked I saw a roach YES A ROACH!!!! inside the drink. We flagged our waitress and she quickly called the manager on duty, the lady apologized and asked if we wanted to stay LIKE NO but I told her I wanted a report cause if my son got sick they would have to be responsible. When this restaurant opened many years ago, I gave it a try. Was not at all happy but a year or so later, gave it another shot. Same results. Now, about 10-12 years later, I decided to try it again figuring that it has some staying power so management must have got their act together. I went on a Friday with my wife and a friend. The The hostess was very nice, and seated us promptly. Restaurant was clean and well staffed. I wanted to try the "two for twenty" meal they had been pushing on TV so we ordered from that menu. I ordered the 7oz Sirloin, my wife got the chicken penne. Appetizers were served promptly and were delicious. I must admit that I normally don't like onion rings but these were great. The wait for the food was appropriate so there was not a big gap between the time we finished the appetizers and when the entrees were brought. Everything went downhill from there. My steak looked great and was cooked as ordered but it was like jerky. Now I do not expect top-of-the line steak at a restaurant such as this but if you are going to put steak on the menu, it should at least be edible. My wife's order was ok but our friend got a tough steak also. I managed to get through about 3ozs of the 7oz steak and gave up. I asked for a box to take the balance home to my dog (she has a much stronger bite than me) and asked for the manager to come over. I explained and expected an apology and possibly a discount or no-charge for the steak. What I go, floored me. The manager apologized but then, she said that she didn't like the 7oz sirloin either. She then listed a few of the options that she felt were much better than the steak and explained that for steak, she preferred "Ruth's chris steak house." I couldn't believe what I was hearing. She then offered a "brownie bite" as a condolence. When I got the bill, I saw that I had been charged for the brownie bite. To her credit though, I was given a 20% discount that I hadn't expected. Placed a large carry out order. The picture shown on the online takeout menu showed the shrimp came with coleslaw, which we emphasized on ordering, and cocktail sauce. Sad presentation of shrimp and fries...no coleslaw and no cocktail sauce. For $17, I would expect much better. Food was supposed to be ready at 6:30. We arrived on time and went in to pick up, but were told it was still being prepared and that they would bring it out to us. Came here for lunch with a party of 6. The waiter was great; the food mediocre at best. I got a grilled chicken Caesar salad. The romaine was limp and I think it came from a bag. Stopped by for dinner and sat at the bar. My boyfriend and I ordered from the 2 for $25 menu. We ordered 2 Caesar salads for the appetizer and as for entrees, I ordered the Firecracker Shrimp pasta WITH THE SHRIMP ON THE SIDE and my boyfriend ordered the steak. Our Caesar salads came out promptly but I noticed a hair in my salad before even eating eat. I alerted the food runner and she apologized and brought a new one. I don't really recommend the Caesar salad. It's not tossed, it's just romaine drizzled with Caesar and croutons, no cheese. After we finished our salads, someone was bringing out the entrees and our server stopped the person and took the food back to the kitchen. I noticed that it was because the shrimp was on the pasta. The server then brought the food out and I alerted him that I was ALLERGIC to shrimp, so if it was the same pasta, I couldn't eat it because the shrimp had already touched it. He told me it was a new pasta and the shrimp never touched it. After having the pasta in front of me, I saw the breadcrumbs from the shrimp, IT WAS THE SAME PASTA!!! Employees should really be trained better, if someone has an allergy please don't lie to them. I'm very disappointed my server lied. He never sent a manager over to address the situation, but he took my food off. I appreciate the gesture but an allergy isn't something that should be played with. read more

My first experience at an Applebees in a nutshell: I will never return. Thank you TINA, you made history in horrible service. I remember the food being alright-- nothing at all memorable. Especially because of the service that we received. It is almost to a point where I would say I prefer lack of service. We were pressured to pay, even before we got our food.. Then constantly after that. In all honesty, I understand if it is the end of your shift. But it's really unfair to be rushed. We wanted to drink more than 1 beer, and we definitely wanted to order a lot more food. I'm sure other locations are better. What do you say when they bring you back the steak with a cow's tail still on it: 3th mistake. and.. What do you say when they send back the mooing cow back and return w/ beef jerky: 2nd mistake So.. What do you say when you make the desicion to go to Applebees for a quick dinner on a Tuesday night: 1st mistake!! Yup, this was the wonderful experience my girlfriend and I had this evening while dining at the fine establishment of Applebees in Germantown. But it get's better. So as you can tell they completely screwed up my steak (I know I know, it was Applebees), but the best part was how they reacted to it. I know people make mistakes while you're out eating and sometimes things don't go they way they should. But to completely screw up a meal and not even offer to take it off the bill or even a free desert, to me that's just unacceptable. Oh, did I mention that I asked for cheese on my broccoli and that was screwed up too, lol. And when they brought it back, it was burnt cheese on a plate w/ broccoli around it...uh. Come on Applebees, we weren't expecting much but why?? So the manager by the name of Michelle C., comes up to apologize w/ the 3rd time they screwed up my steak. And says, "I'm sorry". I cut it and of course it's not right again. At this point it's a hopeless cause. I say, this is over cooked again but oh well. Her answer, "We have a new cook back there, sorry about that". Why is a new cook making steaks to the guests, and why is he the one fixing my steak? So we say to her, well listen, not your fault but we're not going to pay for this steak. Everything else is fine, but this is just unacceptable. And she looks at me like she's confused. So, I say again, you can take it back or leave it, but either way we're not paying for this. Keep in mind this wasn't in an arguementive way, just being honest. She says, well it's the 2 for $20 meal so I can't just take it off. So we say, well ring up the app and my g/fs food and we'll pay for that. So.....we get the bill. She took $6.00 of the whole check. Thanks. I'm sorry but I used to be in the food industry for many years both on the waiting side and the bartender side. And I guess I could say that though they were not the classiest of places(i.e. Bennigans, Fridays, Outback, Ruby Tuesdays), my managers never acted that way. They all would have taken the meal off immediately offered some free desert, or taken more than $6.00 off the tab. Needless to say, all we got (not that we were asking for free stuff) was a 10% off our next visit, which we won't use b/c we're not coming back, so we left that there for them and a horrible experience which could have been completely avoided just by better customer service. Needless to say, I did bring back the little piece of steak (Oh yeah, it was a freakin 7 oz strip, seriously how do you mess that up 3 times) and guess who enjoyed every little bit of it.....(drums....) I just love this Applebees. I had never been a regular to an Applebee's ever. Robin always takes great care of us. She's the best. My girlfriend and I came here on our first date months ago and we always make sure to sit in robins section. She's super attentive and always willing to get whatever we need. The only con is that the bathrooms could use a little extra attention but I'm always greeted by a friendly host or hostess and seated quickly. The food is really delicious. I always try something new and the drinks are divine. I've only ever had one drink that wasn't so hot but Robin substituted it for something else and made it so that I only paid for the other drink that I actually drank and enjoyed.
