I came here during lunchtime, as I was in the area and I had a taste for chicken tenders, but I didn't want fast food. When you first walk in, there is a bar area and ample seating. I sat at one of the high top tables. All of the staff that I interacted with were pleasant and helpful. My waitress made sure that my glass was never empty, and that refills came out in a timely manner. The star of the show for me were the crab fries. I tasted cheese and crab dip on every fry. The chicken tenders were hot, although a little bit dry. The tenders come with honey mustard that is made in-house which helped. I enjoyed my meal nonetheless. Disappointing and uncomfortable experience Our family of four (including two young kids) went to Gentleman Jim's in Gaithersburg expecting a nice dinner, but left feeling very disappointed -- and honestly, unwelcome. When we arrived, we politely requested a booth since 3 out of 5 were open. The owner/host told us all the booths were "reserved," even though only one had a reserved sign. We were instead seated at a small table right in the middle of the dining area. About 15-20 minutes later, another couple walked in and were seated in one of the booths we had originally asked for. When I asked them if they had a reservation, they said no -- they had just walked in. When I asked the owner why we were told the booths were reserved but this couple wasn't, she acted confused and gave no clear answer. At that point, we didn't feel comfortable staying or trusting what might come out of the kitchen, so we left. As an East Asian family, we couldn't help but feel that our treatment may have been influenced by bias, whether intentional or not. We've never had an experience like this elsewhere, and it left a really bad impression. We won't be returning. read more

Delivery. Ribs, slaw, mashed potatoes. Ew! Ribs had numerous HUGE cooked blood vessels or ligaments in them with a girth of narrow straws & the firmness of gummy bears - disgusting! Added to this was the fact the ribs were so overcooked that I couldn't bite through them - the outer layer was as tough as shoe leather. After ripping away this inedible layer, all that was left was fat! Horrible ribs that I trashed. Tried eating the cole slaw & it was naked slaw with no creamy dressing. Trashed the entire meal. Whoever ben is they're good at taking orders and doesn't make you feel like modifications are an inconvenience. He went out of his way to check if they actually had one of the things in my order while I was placing instead of straight up telling me they didn't have it because it wasn't active in the system. As someone that has restaurant experience I already know the type of worker he is which is exceptional and I had no issues picking up my order and paying. Easy order placement and pickup. This is now the second time I've had problems using my rewards points at Gentleman Jim's because the order was rung up incorrectly. After spending a lot of money here, it's extremely frustrating not to be able to use the rewards I've earned. To make matters worse, our burgers came out cold. Paying $31 for two burgers is one thing, but when the food lacks quality and the portions don't match the price, it makes the experience very disappointing. Unless there are real improvements in both food and service, I don't see my family continuing to come here. read more

Gentleman Jim's is definitely worth a visit. The food is solid -- their pizza is especially good, with great flavor and a nice crust. Everything tastes fresh and well-made. The only thing keeping it from being a full 5 stars is the space itself. The restaurant is pretty small, so it can feel a little tight during busy times. Overall though, great food and good service -- just be prepared for a smaller dining area. I'd still recommend it. read more

Here we are again at GJ's for a late lunch! Place is alive with people at the bar--having fun, watching the games! Stevie helped us today and she was fab! The garden salad is nothing extraordinary but it IS served cold and crisp and that earns extra points for our party! Our pizza was delicious, as always--- and I know I've mentioned it before -- there are people who would squirm at the thought of a sweet-ish pizza but it has won our hearts (stomachs, really). My husband has want been wanting to try Gentlemen Jim's for quite some time now and since we were in the area, we decided to stop by and pick up a pizza. He heard the MoCo Show refer to the restaurant as selling the best Maryland Style pizza (which I think refers to the rectangular shape vs traditional round pizza) and we took their advice and got our 12" pizza with half Swiss cheese (that's the default cheese served) and half mozzarella. Neither of us like Swiss cheese, but we wanted to give it a try and I am so glad we only got Swiss on half. I could not stomach that half of the pizza and left it all for my husband. It was just too much for me between the Swiss cheese, the sour and almost wet texture of the dough and the overly sweet sauce. Back to the dough (maybe it's fermented dough. I thought I had read that somewhere but can't find it now), the tall crispy crust was pretty nice, but the dough was dense and I wasn't a fan of the taste or texture. The pizza was very greasy. Expanding on the sauce, I wasn't a fan of it either because it was so very sweet and was reminiscent of ketchup...I know it wasn't ketchup, but it reminded me of it due to the sweetened flavor. This was a to-go order, but I wanted to mention a band was setting up to play as I was getting my order (so that's cool, I am sure, for patrons dining in). My wife and I made our first visit to Gentleman Jim's this week and our overall feeling is that we are probably not likely to return anytime soon. I ordered the California salad and was presented with a rather weak mixture of greens, though the chicken was okay. I didn't bother to finish the salad and instead ate part of my wife's roast beef sandwich and onion rings which was actually quite good. My wife can be picky about onion rings and hers passed muster, but didn't measure up to BurgerFi. The other slightly irksome thing was the 2.9% credit card surcharge which I was unaware of, but maybe it was listed somewhere and I just didn't see it. While I understand the restaurant wanting to recoup the fees they get charged for accepting cards, I would much rather prefer to have that as part of the price of the meal rather than a surcharge like 99% of the restaurants that I've eaten at. Overall I will say that there is nothing special about the food and better values can probably be found elsewhere. read more

I've had Gentleman Jim's pizza many times before but never actually sat down in the restaurant until tonight! Shay was our waitress and she was awesome/so sweet! She recommended the fried pickles and they were heavenly. They have a great Happy Hour which we caught the tail end of. We got a California salad and a 12" pepperoni and meatball pizza. Everything was delicious and best of all, 8pm started a Live band and they were soo good! They have a general bar area and then high tops, regular tables and booths. All were filled by the time we had to go at 8:30. I will definitely be back for more in-person dining. read more

I am a big fan of the pizza. A unique flavor due to the type of cheese used. Although the pizza itself is amazing ( I mainly get cheese only) I have never had a burger here that wasn't excellent. I've had plain, cheese and recently a blue cheese burger. Cooked perfectly and very tasteful. The service is always quick. The staff genuinely happy. Not a large seating area but clean and well lit. This is a large take out order experience. My co worker recommended this place and mentioned this is their new location as they were somewhere else the first time they opened. This is an American menu and they had a variety of items on their menu. I got to try a chicken bacon sandwich on a brioche bun and that was good. But it needed some bbq sauce. Just a little dry. But their pizza was good! The crust was perfect too! My manager had their salad and she said it was good. My other co-workers orders a burger and fries and they said it was really delicious and they had no complaints. The staff was so nice too! Aaliyah was the host who assisted me with my large work order and she was friendly and continued to let me know when my order was complete and ready. Will I come here again? For sure! Shoutout to our local community heroes! Jen was a very personable server. She was very helpful with getting our appetizers , drinks, and entrees to us fast and easy. The nachos were loaded with all the best toppings! Chili, peppers, tomatoes, olives, guacamole, sour cream, gooey cheese, and all atop of crunchy chips! We also had perfectly cooked lemon pepper wings! Jen got us ranch and bleu cheese dips... yum! Our fluffy crusted pizza was amazing as well.. I had them add our favorite pizza toppings pepperoni, Italian sausage, spinach, jalapeños, fresh mushrooms, and of course the gooey cheese! No room for dessert... but it will need to try next time! Three stars is the best I can do. On the good side, they worked it out so that my group of 5 could sit at the same table. The server was very nice and attentive. But the food was just okay. We have been going to this place for year, carry-outs and dine-ins. They recently relocated to Flower Hill Way. We are known to go to a place twice in a day which is exactly what we did today- lunch by ourselves and then dinner with friends. Service was great and food was delicious. We wanted sandwiches so we ordered a turkey club (w no sides) and tuna melt w fries. They were called something else on the menu. Both hit the spot. For dinner, the group ordered 2 from the specials, a surf and turf burger and pork belly burger. Both very satisfying. The fried chicken sandwich also was delicious. This is a very popular restaurant with outside seatings, music playing in the background and occasionally they have a live band. It was my very first time visiting this location with several friends here to listen to the live band, and my friend Abi referred to the group as the gogo band. Basically, they put their own spin on different genres, the lead singer is fun and overall a fun group. The food portions are great, and the drinks are great, and the service is good their wait staff is very busy catering to all of their inside and outside seating patrons. Everyone is nice and friendly and overall a friendly atmosphere. I recommend this establishment if you're looking for a diverse place to hang out with your friends or significant other. Gentleman Jim's has been one of my favorite casual restaurants for a LONG time! I first ate there when they were located in the Twinbrook area of Rockville. I then followed them over to the airpark in Gaithersburg and now I continue to eat there in there current location in Flower Hill. We ate there last night and had the pizza. This is the main reason we go there. There is something about that sauce!!! It is a great balance of sweet and savory - it is thick and chunky with lots of crushed tomatoes. The sauce is the real deal here!!!! Are they a little light on the toppings? Maybe - but the sauce keeps me coming back. And we love the crust too. It is kind of yeasty, beer flavored and always crunchy. Gentleman Jim's really knows how to do pizza. Last night, Mariah was our server and she is great! Ordered two kids burgers and the firehouse burger. The French fries are what drew me to this place because I was craving battered fries and these were spot on: the burger was so tender and flavorful. Both my boys love burgers and kept saying how yummy it was and that this was their new favorite place. The customer service was top notch. Ordering was easy and done online. I would highly recommend.
