We came on a weekday evening and it wasn't too busy. We got a beer, lemon pepper wings ($6 during HH), and fish and chips. Wings are on the smaller side but flavored and cooked well. The fish was ok: a lot of batter for the fish and it was watery in some parts. Fries are slightly crispy and soft in the middle. They charged $1 for two sides of mayo. Their happy hour is Tues-Fri from 3-6pm with deals including $6 bites and $2 off beers. Servers have handwritten list of draft beers (IPAs, lighter beers, etc). Staff are attentive and check in often. The tavern is usually full of locals. Overall, a nice local spot to grab a few beers and snacks; I would rate it a 3.5/5, rounding up to a 4/5. read more

Well. Where do I even start. So I was at the Clarksburg Outlets with my parents and we were STARVING, but it was a little late, like 8pm, so our options were limited. We drove over to the Tavern and in a hunger induced phase sat down at a table. There was some kind of party or organized group outing taking up the majority of the bar and front tables so the waiter sat us down towards the back where it was pretty empty and spacious. After we order we start to look around and suddenly the mood shifts. We start noticing an awful lot of red hats. Yeah. Those kinds of red hats. And everyone seems to be over 70 except for a small group of self identified Young Republicans. Our fears have been realized. We are smack dab in the middle of a group of Trumpers and they are demanding the debate be put on the TV. There's easily 50 of them. They are complaining that the TV won't go louder and they can't hear but I suspect the waiters are pretending that this is as high as the volume goes. The waiters have confided in us their disdain and horror at the group. Every time Trump comes on screen the group claps and cheers. I make a loud BOOOO. The waiters, bless their sweet hearts, come over every 5 minutes to see if we are okay (I also suspect to escape the crazies). They are browbeaten. Much respect and admiration for the people working because these people were insane. The food was good too. read more

We had an amazing lunch here today. The soft pretzel with pub cheese was spot and tasty. I got the grilled cod tacos - you get three tacos - and they were so tasty with pico, guacamole and coyote sauce. The Rueben sandwich was very tasty too! This was our second time visiting this place in over 11 years. Last time we were here we remembered the Monte Cristo fried sandwich. We had to come back and get it again. We were not disappointed with the sandwich. It was delicious just as we remembered it from last time. Hamburger was medium well and very juicy. I was surprised by the looks of it I have to say I expected a different result. Service was legging just a bit but only because it felt like our waiter was new. Have given this place a chance multiple times and service and food quality has continued to degrade since it was Bennigan's. Quality is erratic. Sometimes you get a good side or special that impresses you, other times service is slow and the food fails to meet expectations. It is great to have a local pub, but it's also nice if they had more local beer. They do carry a few, but there are so many local craft brewers in the area it is a shame they don't highlight it better. It's not a bad menu if you need something, though. I'd stick with the staples like burgers, wings and sandwiches and avoid the other entrees. There is also a shuffle board table which is nice to play on while waiting for your food and a pool table in the front. There is a back patio that has been dog friendly when we come with a pooch. I have continued to give this place the benefit of the doubt, with multiple visits, as my preference is to support a locally owned business over a franchise. However, there is a reason this restaurant has not garnered the attention of the thousands of new homes built behind it. Clarksburg is hurting for family restaurants and this place is rarely crowded. If you want good pub food and a great beer selection, head down the road to Dogfish Head in Gaithersburg. It is excellent. Clarksburg Tavern is not. read more

We love this little Clarksburg local gem. The food is always delicious and it's hardly ever busy but we have loved every dish we have tried so far. Clarksburg Tavern offers outdoor seating and limited indoor seating. My only complaint is that since the outdoor seating is surrounded by wooded area, we got bit by a few mosquitos while dining outdoors. Although it is a nice relaxing, private, and casual area by a covered patio. Tonight we ordered the fried avocado and fried sweet corn nuggets for appetizers. Both appetizers were delicious. The sweet corn nuggets were definitely my favorite, since it's savory and sweet fried deliciousness! When we have come here a few times before, my husband's absolute favorite go-to meal is the steak and cheese sandwich which is very yummy. Perfect cheesiness, savory and steak is thinly sliced and flavorful. Tonight I ordered the salmon and shrimp with Brussel sprouts and garlic mashed potatoes--everything was delicious and I would definitely order this again. My wife had a burger with sweet potato fries. One twin had a burger (the other was working) and fries. I had fish and chips! All there were good, the fries were ok, not epic. The fish was amazing! We've eaten here at least six times but this May visit will be our last although the food has improved greatly. We are three retired couples who go out to eat every weekend. We always request three checks (one check per couple) but this weekend, we were not allowed to do so at the Tavern as the owner instituted a new policy, namely groups of 6 or more can ONLY get one check. Our waiter had kindly taken our three orders but was not allowed to give us the checks that way. Needless to say, this caused great consternation within our group as no other restaurant we frequent has this policy. The main purpose of this review is to point out that Clarksburg Tavern has added to the menu. You can get a ribeye for $30, a full rack for $30, salmon and shrimp for $22, and a mixed grill platter with chicken, ribs and shrimp for $24. The apps are great. We are full-time RVers and staying at a nearby campground. We found this place listed as being close by. We stopped in. The staff was very friendly and greeted us as we entered. We sat in the attached tent since we had our dog. If I could give them more stars for being dog-friendly, I would! I brought her water bowl, but they were ready to give us water and her own bowl if we needed it. The food was also amazing, one of the best spicy shrimp I've had and the nachos were enough for two to share. The jalapeños were pickled on the nachos, I wasn't expecting that but I loved them so much better made that way. I don't think I can go back to regular nachos. Unfortunately the heat wasn't on in the tent so we left shortly after we were done eating, but our waitstaff were completely accommodating and quick to check on us outside. Nothing but great things to say about this adorable restaurant! Two of my friends and I stopped here before a hike in Clarksburg. Jack was our waiter and he was great! He was very nice and gave us some suggestions for the menu. Started off with the sweet corn bites and omg they were delicious! Then we got a Reuben, Grilled Chicken Wrap, Cesar Salad, plate of fries and Loaded Baked Potato soup. Everything was so good and came out fresh and hot. First off, I have to say this is the best service I've received in MoCo hands down. I got Bobby as a waiter and Angelo as a bartender. Bobby was so kind, attentive and funny. His service had me smiling from ear to ear and excited to give this review. The restaurant was spotless. The forks and cups didn't have any water marks. Now let's talk about the food. I selected the blackened salmon and shrimp. I got with broccoli and mash. Those mashed potatoes tasted like they came from heaven itself. The broccoli was perfectly seasoned. The presentation of the salmon and shrimp was grilled to perfection. It didn't need a whole lot of salt and pepper. The Tavernrita's were delicious. Worst service I've ever had. I order my appetizers and then my entree a little later. My appetizers come out then 2 mins after my entrees come out with zero room on the table. The ribeye I order came out raw when I asked for medium I ended up just asking if I can switch it out for something else do to my appetite not being in the mood and everyone is already eating. The manager still decided to cook the steak and give me the new item I wanted Don't know what kind of customer service this place has but I definitely believe you guys need to work on timing....timing with cooking food and when to bring it out... This use to be Bennigans, now it's owned by a great lady who really cares about her customers. Prior to the pandemic, we would eat in fairly regularly. They have mostly comfort type food: burgers, steaks, tacos, salads, great appetizers, drinks and happy hour specials. They also do great take out. Since the pandemic, they are still open (check their website or facebook page for times). They are doing curbside pickup and really going above and beyond to sanitize the bags before they bring them to you, wearing a mask, etc. We continue to frequent them during the pandemic, as I feel like they are being as safe as possible with limited contact. They also offer other items during this time (check Facebook) - such as fresh produce, meats, toilet tissue, sanitizing wipes, juice boxes, etc. She updates the list on Facebook with prices. We'll definitely keep supporting them during the pandemic. read more

Pleasant atmosphere and the the onion rings we ordered for appetizer were massive and good. My son and my boyfriend's daughter both enjoyed their meals of chicken tenders and salad with chicken. My well-done burger came out completely raw and took 10-15 minutes to fix. When it came out, it didn't have cheese and the bacon was unpalatable and fries were not good either. I ate two bites of the patty and was done. The waitress compensated me by taking off a soda off the check, but the meal as a dinner was a complete letdown and the whole thing really should have been taken off. My boyfriend ordered the Monte cristo and the bread used for the sandwich overpowered it. I visited here mid week with 3 colleagues. It didn't appear to be busy so we got seated right away. The server was very friendly and attentive. My colleagues ordered salads and I had the tacos on special. The special was fried avocado tacos. We all enjoyed our food! The food was okay and the service was okay overall. My rating is so low because the menu states for groups of 6 or more 18% gratuity is charged automatically. On this visit it was only two people but the waiter initially charged me 18% then had the nerve to have a tip line for additional tip. Visited on a Sunday around 5, only a handful of ppl. Staff wore football jerseys and every game played on screens throughout so it def had a sports bar vibe. Full bar and patio seating also.
