I read the other reviews, but I have to say I disagree. I had no problems and the food was great. It's been awhile since I've been here, and I was pleasantly surprised. We got the new food: Mozzarella Sticks Queso Blanco Honey Pepper Chicken and Shrimp Nappa Chicken & Portobellos (only 450 calories) 4-Cheese Mac & Cheese with Honey Pepper Chicken Tenders Riblet Basket For 3 people, this was a lot of food. We got one 2 for $20 (chicken and shrimp & riblets) and one 2 for $24 (nappa chicken & 4-mac). All of the food was delicious. The Nappa Chicken was by far my favorite. Food at Applebee's just doesn't get any better than this. The 4-mac and the Honey pepper sauce sure gave that nappa chicken a run for it's money though. Did I say I was in heaven? Service: We got Kadi, and she was not bad. We sat in the bar area and she kept our drinks filled, the food came fast, and we were well attended. I was happy. Also, come on people, it's Applebee's. Please don't hold it against me. Especially when I'm admitting to my fellow yelpers that I actually ate and enjoyed my meal here. I haven't stepped foot into an Applebee's in probably seven years. Maybe I got lucky, but the steak I had was pretty tasty and cooked perfectly. Of course, it is possible that alongside my ice cold Blue Moon, even cardboard would taste good. My server Diedre made my experience that much better. No plans to go back, but thanks for the good time anyway. read more

They gave us plastic forks and knives. We came in almost at closing time, and first of all, they never gave us any utensils, and after we asked for them they gave us plastic forks. They told us they were washing the utensils and that is why they gave us plastic ones. I myself work in kitchen and I know this is not the type of attention you should give to a client even at closing time. We had to call the manager so we could get our metal utensils because the lady serving us refused to give it to us. The food was ok but the service was terrible. read more

My friends and I meet for lunch every month. We chose Applebee's as it was in a central location. The food was good BUT the service was terrible. Our waiter never came back to check on us or our drinks after we were served. He added a charge to my check and when I told him he was like OH.....paid cash expecting $5.00 and some change back. I loved apple bees as a kid but sometimes I get so annoyed with the stuff here, for instance the margaritas taste like water. The wait for the food takes way to long, the service is slow i waited to be seated for about three minutes and then waited an even longer time just to order. Overall it was an ok. Monday night , I stopped here for a quick beer. Only to wait for 15 minutes before I was acknowledged. It seems like they're always understaffed then suddenly the whole team walks out the kitchen into the dining room. Mind you, I wasn't eating just wanted a beer. For my dad's birthday we went to Applebees. Food was good but our server was meh. She actually accomplished making me upset. My dad isn't a big fan of celebrating his birthday or any special occasion for that matter. I have a friend who is a server at Applebees, we weren't in his section but he helped out a lot. So i discreetly tell him it's my dad's birthday and can he relay the message to my server. Which was great. Rather than bringing a dessert and singing, she goes i heard from a little birdy its your birthday do you want a dessert, of course my dad said no, but that's not the point. My friend was disappointed in his coworker and i was not happy. All i wanted to do was surprise my dad just a little and she ruined it. Like common sense isnt common. Let me start by saying the restaurant was not busy. I ordered the oriental chicken salad with grilled chicken. The waiter asked what dressing i wanted. I ordered oriental on the side. When my salad arrived it has fried chicken that was COLD and was fully dressed with hint mustard dressing. I explained the is to the waiter. He brought me back what i believe was the same salad (fully dressed) with hot fried chicken and a container of oriental dressing. And then he disappeared. I ended us asking a different waitress to see the manager. 20 minutes later she arrived. Meanwhile i told my friend ti eat her meal hot. I gave up an started eating the salad. The manager arrived, with attitude, and said she would take some off the bill because I had been eating the salad. Never going back. read more

I want to start saying I love this place but I have been officially turned off. We had asked to put $25 cash and the rest on the card. Looking at the receipt we saw they had taken $20 off the bill, charged $5 and put the rest on my card. The math worked out correct but $20 now is missing and no one had a real explanation for me. I asked to speak with the manager, whom left and came back saying we used a paper coupon (which I did not know that you all even had). I felt cheated like $20 was pocketed and I still tipped. After that I never saw the manager again, he played confused saying that only he had a manager card to do discounts but can clearly see a discount was put on the check. The server tried to crumple the receipt while basically say, "Okay what's the problem, you said 25 then the rest on your card.... I charged your card right so what's the issue." I felt personally attacked. I went back the next day to speak with a different manager to see if I could get a better explanation of what happened. It was confirmed that the precious manager on the night of the incident was the general manager and that what happened was what I had guessed. $20 was taken and pocketed on top of what I was planning to tip. Not only was I cheated in that situation, but the company was robbed as well. It's sad because Applebees is so affordable it's one of my favorite places to eat/drink. No longer will I be patronizing this location as often. I've emailed corporate but ALWAYS ASK FOR A RECEIPT OF PROOF OF PAYMENT.... Including cash payments. read more

Worst service ever. Decided to pay on the little kiosk at the table since our waitress Jetina took 30 mins to even bring our drinks out. We walked to our car when we heard someone screaming "You need to pay your bill!! You can't dine and dash!!" It was Jetina, I showed her the receipt that was emailed to me and she still accused me of dine and dashing making a a scene and made me follow her inside. Once we got to the register her manager came and then she said "Oh it is paid" Very unprofessional and embarrassing for myself because the entire restaurant was staring. Stopped by with my husband after a long day of work. The manager on duty Opal was very attentive and friendly. She made sure our order was out in a timely matter. I ordered a couple drinks and they did not take long to get to our table. I forgot our waiters name, but she was a very nice young lady. Up until last night we'd always enjoyed going to Applebee's. But a terrible server named Danny's appaling service means we are unlikely to come back again now. We arrived at 8:38pm, within a minute I saw Danny and he made eye contact with me, but instead of greeting us just proceeded to serve the larger table next to us. He then went and came back to their table twice without even acknowledging us. Only when the large table of people left did he serve us - we waited 10 minutes to even be greeted! Absolute disgrace. Then when he took our order, we waited for our drinks. 10 minutes later we still didn't have our drinks. We looked over to see him just sitting at the bar chatting to a girl, and we proceeded to walk out. It doesn't take 10 minutes to make and bring us a couple of drinks. This guy just didn't care about us and honestly we don't feel he should be working as a server at Applebee's if this is the level of service he provides. In addition, the volume level of the music at this location is way too loud, we could barely have a conversation because of it. read more

Came here for a quick and easy dinner. The good: My bf got the steak and was pleasantly surprised. My mango mojito was pretty tasty...but instant headache. The ugly: I got the bourbon chicken and shrimp...disaster. The whole meal was over-seasoned for my taste. I realize it's blackened chicken...but it just didn't work. The real kicker though is the shrimp came out raw. I sent it back and it came out BARELY cooked the second time. I realize the meal is served on a searing plate, but a) the raw shrimp was on top of my cooked chicken and b) even after sitting on the sizzling plate the shrimp had not cooked by the end of the meal. What Happened to Applebees? They are slipping!! We had not been to Applebees since my youngest was a Toddler and when I was pregnant with him I craved their Santa Fe chicken salad. We got a gift card from one of my husbands clients for Christmas and decided to get carryout since our son was sick. I think they short change the carryout customers on purpose. The Buns on the Burgers were hard and cold already. The burgers were nothing to write home about and the fries were all of the butt fries, you know the small little hard pieces of fries not the crisp full regular fries they probably serve to dining in guests. We live 8 minutes away and alraedy in that time the food was ice cold. I can say that we will not be back. If he gets another gift card we will donate it to charity. Wow Applebees. Do you buy everything from Costco? No wait, even Costco food would taste 100x better than the crap you served. I usually dont write reviews for chain restaurants like these but this deserves one. Everything we got tasted like it was either microwaved, overcooked, or 1 week old. Back when I lived in Washington State and lived in a more underdeveloped area, Applebee's was the place to be. The service was quick, drinks reasonably priced, and food was pretty decent. Actually, at the time it was the bomb diggity bomb bomb as I had yet to encounter any real non chain restaurants to compare it to. On the way home from River Tubing, our group stopped in for some food. We were starved (as that's what River Tubing will do: dehydrate you and make you HUNGRY). We all looked like crap so we didn't want to do anything too fancy so we broke out our Blackberrys and found the nearest Applebee's. This one was it. I have to say I was very disappointed with some of the aspects of this Applebee's compared to the ones back in WA. Our server was very nice and attentive however she was very slow. They were definitely understaffed. So slow, in fact, our food came back cold and had to be sent back. To add to the chaos, my burger had cheese. Attached to the cheese was the paper that separates cheese sliced. Fortunately, their manager at this location was reasonable and replaced my dish (I then ordered the french fries and chicken fingers) and did not charge me for my dish. Everyone left feeling sick because their portions are huge but we left satisfied. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt because they are, well, a low budget chain joint and we all have off days. Been here a couple times before, service was always 2-3 star but the food is on the cheaper side and the games are always on, but today we showed up at 1:15 and were seated at a hightop. Waited 15 minutes, no server ever came, THEN a family was seated directly next to us, and their server got to their table 1 minute later. As we were walking out, their guy at the door told us to have a nice day, we responded that it would have been if we were able to be served. The guy said "oh". I'm not proud that I ate here but five of us met from a couple different states to meet with a client. The new guy suggested we meet at Applebee's (it's okay, we told him never to do that again). Every single Applebee's is the same. Why am I even writing this? Four out of five meals were correct, that's pretty good really. One salad and reuben came as salad and french onion soup and the server apologized and asked if they wanted the reuben. Well, yeah. I had a side salad and tomato basil soup. Nothing wrong with it except they found a way to add un-needed calories to tomato soup by adding bread crumbs and cheese. Oh, and the music was a little loud for noon. It was a short loop of 80's pop and rock. In general everyone was satisfied but we agreed nothing spectacular just happened. read more

We went on a weekend night and the food was awful. Everything was soooooooooo Salty, even the steak was so salty from outside to inside, which we really didn't understand. We want the steak to be medium cooked, and it came in as fully cooked. I've been to Applebees at different places and this is the first time I was so very disappointed. The manager came and we want to brought to his attention that we were concerned with the food. But he acted very defensive, keep inferring that it's our problem, because the food came in the same way, and their is no way the chef or the store could do anything wrong. Sadly Disappointing on several levels. I arrived first tonight and was quickly seated by the smiling hostess. Over 15 minutes then went by before someone came by and asked if I had been served yet. I pointed to the empty table and said no. They ran off to find my waitress. She arrived and took a drink order that I think she forgot about because it took about 10 minutes to get that, despite sitting next to the bar. My friend got her soda quickly though. There were also three of us here tonight. I asked my waitress twice, but she only gave us TWO waters. Counting was not her strong suit. My four cheese Mac and cheese with chicken tenders and a breadstick was.... underwhelming. Unevenly cooked penne pasta. Watery, bland sauce. The three tenders were so dried out, they could double as hockey pucks. The breadstick was meh. Now, my alcoholic beverage was fantastic.... when it finally arrived. Both of my friends had the riblets and they assured me they were moist and covered with sauce. The loaded garlic mashed potatoes were heavenly. The fries were... fries with a lot of seasoning..... Service was spotty at best and twice, people seated next to us left because of the lack of service. Sadly, not a good night for Applebee's. read more

Tonight we went to this place for dinner and my wife ordered the Low Calorie Pepper Steak and I had the low calorie 7 oz Sirloin. The Pepper Steak was ordered to be cooked medium. Well the steak came out looking grey on the outside and "RAW" on the inside. It looked like road kill. Now my steak was good and my wife's replacement chicken was good. The manager did come over and apologize for the poor looking steak. The server was good and the ambience is your typical bar/restaurant. Overall the food was just OK and the price for what we got wasn't that reasonable considering the poor food quality and the manager really didn't do much to have a repeat customer. I may have had the worst dining experience of my life at this Applebee's last Sunday. We ordered drinks from the bar and they literally came out as we were about to leave. Our food arrived and we had yet to receive silverware. We waited for approximately five minutes before receiving the silverware, meanwhile our food was getting cold. Unsurprisingly, the server didn't refill drinks or bring my husband a refill of his "all you can eat ribs". I spoke with the manager right before leaving. He only comped the drinks (that we never received). He could have done more if he wanted our return business. Needless to say we won't be returning to this establishment. read more

Ordered take out tonight about 2 hours before my husband was to pick it up. It was still not ready when he arrived. His dinner came with the wrong sides, my son's cheeseburger was literally a patty an inch in diameter and his strawberries and yogurt consisted of a huge tub of yogurt and half a sliced strawberry. Overall, I would say this is the worst Applebee's I've ever been to. Slow on refilling drinks. Forgetting things like ketchup for your fries. Being seated in the corner then forgotten. Having 16 year old servers spilling our beers as he brought them over. Oh, and the #1 worst thing: bringing out the main dish right after the appetizer! However, our last visit (which my husband and I both said would be our last if we experienced the same low level of service and poor quality of food) was great. It seemed like they may have changed management, as the woman (I forget her name) came over to make sure everything was ok. We ordered off of the 2 for $20 menu and the food was served quickly, hot, and delicious (well, for Applebees). We now no longer rule out this place when deciding where to go for a quick bite to eat. They also have great happy hour and late night (after 930 on weekdays) specials. Last visit brought this place up from 1 star to 2. Hope our next experience here is similarly as enjoyable. read more

We came in for dinner on Sunday night because we had a gift card. IMO, Applebee's is one of the better "neighborhood grill" type chains and is good for a cheap, relatively quick dinner. We've been to this location numerous times and we usually have a pretty good experience. With that in mind, we always sit in the lower bar area. There, the service has always been great. This time around, we got put in a corner booth to the right of the main entrance. No craft brews or anything "different" in terms of beer, but the sangria is good. I usually get the Red Apple Sangria, but went for the White Peach Sangria this time around. We almost always go for the 2 for $20 menu items because it's such a great deal, but we wanted to try the Grilled Chicken Wonton Tacos, which were surprisingly delicious. They were crunchy and packed with flavor. When it came to our entrees, we both opted to get the Fiesta Chicken Chopped Salad. The dressing was a little vinegary, but overall was good. Our server was the only thing that didn't make this a 4-star experience this time around. It's not that he was unfriendly, but he wasn't particularly friendly or likable, either. I can appreciate a server who's not in-your-face, kiss-your-butt, overly-excited, but this guy was just kinda slow-moving and "meh." He just seemed to do the bare minimum. read more

I got a gift card to this chain and avoided using it forever. One day I decided I had to use the card and I didn't care if I had a horrible meal. With my ultra low expectations I went to this Applebee's and ordered their sirloin steak. I was going to order it rare since these things are always over cooked at these chains but I ordered it medium rare and it came out perfect. Oddly, it had great flavor and I left there really impressed. I don't know how they did it but my food was great. I haven't gone back because I don't expect them to be able to repeat it but I have to given them an A-OK. read more

Good place.. My go-to restaurant in Germantown, quick service even when it's packed (somehow! ). I've also never gotten a mixed up or wrong order, and overall everyone is really nice! I've only had one problem with this place, whenever we called they would not answer the phone.. which I get, but then nobody came outside to take our order when we were in their parking zone for that, we eventually just went inside anyways though. This is my second time entering applebee. What was I expecting when the first experience was already bad? When i sat down at the corner seat, the whole table was sticky. When the waiter come and gave us some water they gave me a kid's sized drink together with my baby brother. Is this harassment? That wasnt the end of it. The whole process of the meal was interrupted with impolite remarks and non caring attitude. There is not much else to say just that. We went to dinner with our family and were given excellent service by Sheldon. On a late Sunday afternoon, there was definitely a large crowd of Redskin fans at the bar and throughout he restaurant. They were playing the Giants that day and won! So the mood in the restaurant was heightened with excitement. Sheldon demonstrated professionalism, good communication, and patience with a large group of 10 while still handling the table around him. He was quick with refills and other requests. The 5 stars are for fantastic service. The food was more average. read more
