NEVER AGAIN. Went in and waited forever to be seated even though there was many open tables. After about 20 min of sitting we had to go ask who our server was because no one ever came to our table. Drinks came with ice almost completely melted and not all at the same time. Food was not warm and I had to get up and ask for utensils. We were told they ran out!!! What restaurant runs out of utensils?? Never got refills on our drinks. We got our food 1 hour after we sat. Good thing restaurant wasn't full. I love Applebee's just not this one. Why? Because they didn't want to give me my food. I called in the phone to order my food and I told them that I will pick it up in a few mins. They took my order they said it will be ready by the time I get there. I got there and waited and no employee came out. I called and told them I was here to pick up my order they told me they will be right out after 30 minutes I had enough and called again only to tell me that they will not bring the food because it was after 9pm but the thing is I was there way before 9pm and I didn't get my food. Dear Applebee's Corporate office, Surely you see the constant reviews of your Indio restaurant? Consistently rated at 1 star and only because that is the minimal rating required in order to vent about the lack of attention and service. It is a shame that your corporation has gone out of their way to identify a financially feasible location, aquire the property and built this beautiful building. But it stops there. How can it be that this location repeatedly receives so may negative ratings yet the same management, with the same practices (or lack of) are entrusted to manage your store?. The bigger shame is that we (your customers) consistently extend opportunities for redemption. We arrived today and you restaurant was at about 60% capacity. The hostess (actually 2 hostesses) were not seating additional guests because the restaurant "was very busy and only had 3 wait staff". Chalk one up to great staff planning Ms Manager. Your guests were piling up at the door. Call list was at least 8 names along at this point. ...and many empty tables. We get seated 20 minutes later. Waiter gets around to takeing our drink order an additional 15 minutes later. Appetizers came out quickly after that.....but then we waited 55 minutes ....and our meal had not yet been started in the kitchen. We were seated at the table closest to the wait staff hall and can hear all of the conversations. Yes, we are the idiots. I get it. We are the idiots who want to support the Applebees in our community as opposed to driving 4 miles West to the La Quinta restaurant. Over and over again we say 'just maybe this time it will be better'. Silly us. It has not happened and I am convinced it never will. Take a look at my history. I don't customarily yelp. Your Indio restaurant deserves every bit of this review. I am not exaggerating our experience. I cannot imagine this property meeting your Applebees standards. Is there anything that destroys good food more than terrible customer service? I avoided the use of Grubhub for delivery of Applebee's dinner for fear of messing up the order....so I used Applebee's Car To Go pick up service for one of their Oriental Salads which I have always loved. After driving all the way across town then all the way home, I discovered they had left out the salad dressing, which is probably the most important part. In calling back, they said I could drive all the way back to get some, and only after I complained about the crispy chicken being soggy by that time, did they offer to remake the entire salad. No suggestion of discount, no offer to talk to the manager. The manager did not even bring the replacement salad out to apologize, the same young lady who messed up the order brought it out. Terrible customer service. Looks like Applebee's needs to concentrate more on training both their workers and their managers. Made for a lousy dinner. Wake up Applebee's!! read more

My first experience with this restaurant was the car side to go. It was poor but a few month later I decided to give it a second try. Tonight's experience, no surprise to me, was just us bad: When my family and I arrived, the hostess was visibly talking to someone in the back of house. We stood there for about five minutes unroll she approached us and without even greeting us, she said that the wait would be at least five minutes because the servers had not showed up for their shift yet. She wouldn't even invite us to have a seat in the waiting area or show us to a table. About ten minutes later she came to us and said "ready". Another girl took us to a table that was for.me to choose because she never actually said" this is your table". Instead she took us to a couple of tables and when I asked which one she replied" it didn't matter". It took another fifteen minutes for our server to come to the table and finally apologized for the delay and explained there were only two servers on duty. Marcus, our server, did great. He was clearly super busy being the only one in our sector and took good care of us. But the rest of the personnel looked like they did not want to be there. Several tables left around us while we were there and for more than an hour, no one picked up and cleaned those tables. The manager on duty walked past them several times and did not take the initiative to send someone to get them cleaned. It gave the impression that they didn't care about the bad aspect that dirty tables give. The food was good. Better that some of the other applebee's in the area. But there are many oportunities for training. Starting with the manager. And they need to teach their employees how to treat costumers and what to say too. All and all, even though I live three blocks away from this restaurant, I still rather drive twenty minutes to the next applebee's. I think one of the reasons I enjoyed our lunch at Applebee's was the server. Patricia was very pleasant, polite, and attentive. To be honest, the food is average at best. Baby back ribs were really dry . servers take forever to come and check back on your table then they wonder why they get bad tips. The pasta had lots of water still in it made the food taste nasty it would help if they drained the pasta water . servers need to worry more about there guest that walk in and less on there conversation on what they do over the weekends read more

I have gone to Applebee's and everytime I go the service get's worse. I went and had to wait for almost 40 minutes for my food, and that was just for my salad to start. I went friday 03-04-2016 and ordered the steak dinner, and it took almost an hour, and they said they were short cooks. I cut the steak and took a bite and felt something hard. I pulled it out and found part of a toothpick. I then cut more of the steak and found the other half. I went yesterday 03-05-2016, and had enchiladas and headed home, and when I got home, I was sick from my stomach. The only good thing is the manager Andrea, and hostess Laura,and waitress Jessica. I guess we should've read a few comments before coming to this location. Service was not good. My friend and I arrived and got seated right away. Then, that's where it went downhill. The table next to us got service 5-6 times by a server before we were even asked for drinks. Someone walked in 5 minutes after us to the bar and promptly asked what he wanted. 3-4 servers walked by our booth but none asked if we needed anything and our menus were down. I had to ask the hostess who was our server. Hostess went and talked to the server who was managing the other booth next to us in our section and she rolled her eyes and was the same person who went to the bar and asked the guy what he wanted. Mind you, granted this is next to the courthouse, and we went during lunch, there weren't that many tables. The server came to our table and we ordered our food and drinks together. We had 2 different people serve our food. We finished and then it was another waiting game. Took us another 10 minutes to get our check because we didn't have a device to pay in our booth. We even had our plates stacked and shoved to the front after we asked the hostess for a box. No toast either. But you can buy a bun for $2.00! I ordered a stir-fry without any meat which was mediocre at best but they still charged me $14.99 because they don't offer a vegetarian option. The service was terrible at this Applebee's location from start to finish. Also the food was mediocre. It was a very unsatisfying visit. So much so that I ended up canceling my food after it was dropped on the floor and took too long to come back out. They tried to make things better by comping the food from our meal, but they were so awkward and everything came out so wrong. Even the burger that came out was supposed to be no sauce with lettuce and tomato only and it had sauce with no tomato. They took it back and it took 15 min and it had to be wrapped up to go. When we got homo there was still NO LETTUCE OR TOMATO?!? Also when we initially ordered we asked to have 2 separate checks and they said no problem and asked who would be on each check then at the end of our meal they had to ask what each of us ordered. I've eaten at several Applebee's. This ranks second to the worse one ever. Slow to get our drink order, slow to deliver our drink order, slower to take our food order and slower still to deliver it. Me and my father just came to eat here this evening and we over heard a server asking the bartender who had been here when we first got here, to pour the beer my dad had asked for 20 minutes prior and she lied and said that she just got here. Do not eat here. Bad customer service - period. My instinct said walk out but I did not listen. Hostess guided us to a bar and I asked her for a booth. She told us she did not have any available. So I pointed out all of the empty booths and gave her a couple of opportunities to rethink her decision. Not sure why I did not walk out right then and there but I didn't. She failed to allow us to sit in a booth as requested and sat us in the bar area. Immediately following this, she proceeded to bring in three or four groups of guests into - you guessed it - booths. I was stunned. Our waiter was not very attentive and seemed scattered. We asked for appetizer but he forgot - they were nachos - how difficult could it be? After 40 minutes, I asked for the check and offered to pay for the sodas. As soon as that happened they rushed the food out and delivered the wrong meals. The table next to us seemed to be having a similar experience - I overheard apologies and excuses. The food was mediocre - and I would have rather had something from Souplantation or In-n-Out. Customer service skills totally lacking and staff too young, self-centered to understand guests needs. I will not be going back to any Applebees, as a result, any time in the future. I've been to other Applebees up North on road trip but this pretty much set my impression - no advertising could turn that around. Visited: 4/17/2015. I was excited for my soup and salad, until I discovered, according to the supervisor/assis. Manager wearing a leopard buttoned shirt, that their bowl of soup is measured by "one ladle". If that's the case than serve the one ladle serving of soup into a cup; for which would better suit it. And instead of this supervisor using her ability, since hey you hold the power to do so to fix the problem, I was given an ultimatum to take it or leave it. I guess giving me an additional half ladle serving of soup would just put this restaurant under. So, I had them remove my soup and salad from the bill and forgoed eating because I was upset over being given an ultimatum instead of a solution. Apparently, I'm not alone in my struggle to have good service at this Indio location,by the two star rating this restauraunt currently sustains.
