Fairly empty on a Saturday lunchtime. The first table we were seated was dirty with a couple of ants walking around. The second table seated was also not completely clean. I wondered why this was given how slow the place was. The chicken tortilla soup bowl was half filled with the other half loaded with tortilla strips. Was average at best. The rack of ribs was tasty but a couple of ribs were not warm nor hot. Last visit 10 months back was good but this one was not. Unsure about returning to this location. read more

Applebees's has a private parking lot located around their business. There are plenty of tables, booths & a bar inside. We were seated right away. Our server, Laykiva was patient helpful, and nice. We initially ordered the nachos for an appetizer. When it was brought out to us, the meat appeared to be over cooked. Our server explained it was because they cooked the meat on a grill and not inside of a pot. She told us that we could get something else so we got the chicken wings with the sauce on the side. The wings were a little bland & the Thai sauce wasn't good. My shrimp bowl was good and flavorful & the ribs were tender. The fries were ok. Fantastic staff and fantastic food. Very clean restaurant too. We arrived on a Saturday night 5:30pm and were advised that it'd be about 20-30 min wait since they only had 2 servers. They were very apologetic and nice about it. The host helped us with soft drinks. We could see other employees help busing tables and gathering menus. Within 10 minutes we were actually seated and 25 min after that we had our food. I had the onion soup and salad. The soup was piping hot and delicious! My husband had their new crispy bacon chicken sandwich and he said it was one of the most delicious chicken he had....crispy on the outside and tender/juicy on the inside. Their reindeer drink special was also very very good. They had ran out of Smirnoff vodka so they used Grey Goose and asked me about substituting it beforehand to make sure it was ok with me. After 14 hours in the car, this was the only place open ... having been in the industry when I was younger I checked the time we were a half hour before closing and I knew we would tip well to show our appreciation for the time of night and eat quick food from a bar menu; however we were met with a smirk from the bar tender a smirk that is easy to identify, it said damn really are you coming in half hour before close, so we left. Went last night to watch the USA World Cup game. Host ignored me yet super chatty with my husband. She wouldn't look at me. Ordered drinks, took 15 minutes for water to arrive. Server said it was her first night alone serving. Location wasn't busy at all. Ordered food. I had the Hot Honey Chicken Skillet and it was ok...chicken cooked but tough. I asked for ranch for my waffle fries, from a server that said she would bring some. She didn't. Had to ask for ranch more than once. Server did not attend well. Had to ask for items repeated times. The reorder from table kiosk didn't work properly. The Bartender would holler from behind the counter to talk to us.( Bartender advice: use your legs and come talk to your Patrons!) Later in the evening, ordered the half off Pub Fries. There was no Beer Cheese. Bartender chirped I removed it, which I didn't do. Bartender was slow, and bar area very messy with many dirty glasses sitting out. Very disorganized. Several times throughout the night staff was at a corner high table socializing. Our server was walking around the horseshoe bar singing a made up song with only the word "Thank You"...it was annoying. Staff here is not attentive. Food was bad. My server was great however things went downhill when I ordered onion rings in place of my fries! My server came back to let me know they were out of Onion Rings. Well, this just made me sad today. I am well aware Applebee's is not "fine dining." But my elderly mother really wanted to dine here - specifically for the molten chocolate dessert. We were seated.... At a table with a water bucket directly behind my mother's head. Kind of gross? Do you normally keep an open water bucket by the door? The table itself still had water rings from the previous guests. We wiped them off, didn't complain. Server was super kind. Brought our drinks, but I noticed my cup had a small crack. I decided not to say anything at the time, however - please remove those cups from service, Applebees! Food safety, 101! Our orders afforded us a free appetizer, we selected the Spinach Dip. A large portion of the chips were soft and stuck together - not fried properly. All of the chips tasted stale. Our server brought out "fresh" chips, but honestly they were still stale. Clearly someone doesn't not know how to work the fryer. My own meal was fine (Bourbon Street Steak with loaded mash). My daughter's burger was good, but fries were also undercooked (fryer problems?). My mother's steak was inedible. There was a line of gristle throughout. Her potatoes were dry. The onion rings were just disgusting, like old onions in a breading and only cooked halfway. The waitress never came to check on us, so we didn't have the chance to mention this. My mom held out on hope for the dessert (the one thing she had been craving, to begin with!) About ten minutes after I ordered it on the tabletop device, and five minutes after waitress confirmed it was being made - she said," oh, sorry we are out of that," can I have your card to do a refund? Mind you - I had already paid via tap on my phone. I have no trust that my original payment will actually be "pulled." I'll keep checking my bank statement. But, Applebees-Knightdale? Come on. The framework for decent service and food exists in your company. Use it? Meanwhile, you lost a loyal customer today. And please retrain whichever shift manager was working this afternoon. We were greeted nicely enough, however the smell of marijuana coming off of this guy was very strong. The bartender was our waiter and again, very polite but he only checked on us when we were ready to go. My husband drank the rest of my tea because he was never asked if he needed a refill. The food was good. The restroom was gross. That's the best word for it. Literal crap was all over one toilet seat and it doesn't seem like anyone that came in there knew how to flush the toilet. Dispensers were hanging off the walls and there were hygiene wrappers all in the floor of one of the stalls. When we left, the greeter was laid back on one of the waiting benches on his cell phone. My boyfriend and I just moved down from New York a few months ago. We decided to go to Applebees on a random Thursday night. This was the closest one to us so we went. Our waitresses name was Frangelica, we sat down and she immediately asked us what we would like to drink. She brought us our drinks right away and asked what we'd like to eat. We weren't bit yet ready so we asked for a few minutes. We then waited about 20 minutes until she finally came around again to ask us what we'd like to eat. We tried waving her down before then but it seemed like we were just being ignored. She came back differently as if she had taken something or drank something. She didn't write anything down, even though my boyfriend and I got the same exact thing just different ounce of steak. She came back with our food and was wrong we were both missing mash potatoes. She came back eventually with the mash potatoes and they were barely warm. We needed refills on our drinks.... She came out with full cups and POURED it into our cups instead of getting us a fresh cup like every other restaurant does. I've never seen anyone do that even coming from New York! I've been to this location a few times now; mostly for lunch on Black Friday over 3 years now. They've had staffing issues, which caused us to wait for a table sometimes, but it's worth the wait. Today was the usual awesome experience. We got seated right away. We had 7 adults and an infant. The waitress was very attentive and extroverted, which I like a lot. She quickly took our order, which ranged from salads, signature bowls to burgers and prime rib french dip sandwiches. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Everything was cooked satisfactorily and warm to the touch. I can't speak for any other Applebees restaurant other than this one, but every time I've come here, the food has been exceptional in quality and cook. I will definitely come here again! read more

After a friend of mine wrote a review it reminded me that I needed to as well. He encountered the same issues. When I first arrived, everything was well I was actually greeted and drinks came fairly fast, but that there is nothing good that I have to say because after that everything fell apart. We waited almost an hour for our food and I checked twice with the waitress and she assured me it was coming shortly. I had people who came in to my section anywhere from 15 to 20 minutes after me who received their food before me. Other people around me who came after me all got their food before me. When I spoke to the server, she assured me that she would talk to her manager and to take care of my meal on the house. I never saw the manager and I never had a comp check. I don't eat here very often at all because I've had bad experiences w/their foods, but my co-workers decided to order from there for lunch today. Reluctantly, I ordered the chicken clucker whatever it's called, huge piece of chicken but it's rubbery and very hard to chew, needless to say I got 2 bites into and said NO! The fries ... ugh ... if they weren't freezer burnt, they may have been descent .... I believe the chicken was as well just based off of the taste and the look of the coating on the chicken ... there's really no excuse for this mess and tbh this has put me off all together for eating there in the future. It was finally delivered about 2 minutes before the entrees. Not cool. I ended up with the bourbon chicken and shrimp. Pretty good flavor, but a touch on the dry side. Wife had the cheeseburger quesadilla, and seemed to like it. Overall, I can't honestly say that this place is worth another visit. Took 5-10 minutes for the server to greet us. When she took our drink orders, we ordered entrees. Another table received their drinks almost immediately after being seated. My daughter's food came out before the waitress got to our drinks. Daughter's drink lid didnt have a hole for a straw. I finally got my food and it wasn't great. Daughter needed to use the restroom, and the restroom was filthy. I'd left items on the table to signal that we hadn't just left, and would be back. I come back to see my plate moved, my sauce ramekin removed from the plate, and my fork removed (which was on the plate). No other trash was removed. Prior to going to the restroom, I ordered desert on the tablet. I specifically selected "dine in". The waitress came over and offered to bring a togo water and another sauce. I said I just wanted the dessert. She said they would comp the dessert but I already paid. The manager came with a free app/dessert card. I said I just wanted the dessert because I still had not received it. She brought it out in togo containers. I said I wanted it for dine in and she stomped back to the kitchen. A solid three star lunch here today - the service we received was actually top notch (crazy, I know) and our server, Keatan, was terrific. We skipped an appetizer and just went with two entrees. Grilled chicken with broccoli and salad for me and shrimp fajitas for my better half. My grilled chicken was actually quite good - I added a little melted butter for a bit more flavor. Broccoli we cooked well and my side salad was very fresh and the ranch dressing was pretty good. My husband really liked his fajitas and said he'd order them again. Nothing stand out amazing but we'd stop in again if we were in Knightdale. Bill was $40 with the tip, you can pay at the table, via the mobile payment device. Three stars as the menu seems to have a lot of items, but has very few salads and most of the items are quite high-calorie and not foods that I eat. read more

This location's restaurant is the dirtiest restaurant ever. I wanted a window seat, and when they rolled up the blinds, the window was so dirty it was to cloudy to even see out of. The window seal had a vaping pen left on it from a previous customer and the waitress was even embarrassed. The window seals were dirty and spotted up, just an unclean view. The seats had. It been wiped down nor did it smell clean or sterilized. The bathrooms were dirty and not properly stocked. I haven't even ordered yet but to start with that I am a party of 4 and the hostess sat me with 3 menus and 3 sets of utensils. She just didn't listen or can't count. We will see about the food, so far this is not so great of a start. I live in this city and so far, I'm embarrassed to bring my family here for dinner. The food ended up being pretty good. First visit to the Knightdale location. Nice decor with lots of Knightdale and ACC related photos. Noticed a small tablet sized device on the end of the table. Server explained that this is something new that will be fully operational soon. Apparently you will be able to order adult beverage refills and desserts from the device plus pay your check via credit card or page your server to come to the table. It also has several games that you could play for a price. I ordered the triple appetizers of boneless chicken, cheeseburger sliders, and mozzarella sticks. Filling portions and good taste. The Applebee's in Knightdale is hands down the best food we've had in a while at an Applebee's. Being creatures of habit, we read the menu like we've never seen it before, glance at the features of the month, and order the same thing we've been getting for, oh, 14 years. That being the Fajita Rollup, the Oriental Chicken Salad and the Wonton Tacos appetizer. If you've never gotten the wontons, you are going to be wonton them every time once you do. (Note to Applebee's: include me in your marketing budget when you use this in your next campaign.) The Oriental Salad was packed with the crunchies and loaded with grilled chicken. In fact, it was such a generous serving the other part of the combo, Penne Pasta, is sitting in my fridge, to be consumed another day. The rollups were gigantic and packed full of goodness. One of those is sitting in the fridge, too. Our waitress, Keysha, deserves a 5 star shout out. From playing hostess to bringing extra sauces without being asked, keeping the glasses filled and just overall pleasantness, she took care of business without being pushy and without being absent. Usually we can count on good food and great service. However we didn't really have that at this location. It was a NC state game night when we attended (which was a big turn off on our part) as the TVs were blaring loudly. The servers seemed more interested in watching the game then serving customers. We even noted the manager didn't' come by to check how things were with us since he was glued to the TV as well. Food took 20 minutes to arrive at our table, and I am guessing perhaps the cooks were watching the game too? Food basically looked thrown on the plate and steaks were both tough and tasteless. Since we had plans for the evening we quickly consumed our undesirable meals and headed out. I usually eat at the one at Triangle town center which I have never had a problem at. My boyfriends salad had ranch spilled all over the side of the plate and it looked like someone wiped it around the edges with their fingers. Ranch smeared all over the sides of our cups when the waitress brought our drinks. And the cherry on top, our three cheese penne was warmed over in a microwave and chicken was dry, dehydrated, and crunchy! Absolutely gross! I will NEVER go back, and will warn others to do the same. To start things off, the communication between kitchen and FOH was off because we ordered apps and entrees only to be told 15 minutes later that what we asked for was either 86'd or not being offered at all. Then my app and entree were ran to my table at the same time after everyone else had there apps. No worries I get it it happens, then the drinks we ordered (5in total) couldn't be made in full so the Gentleman brought 2 and said they were on the house because the other 3 couldn't be made. Ok whatevs totally get that bar issues happen. Then there was the very good spirited nice server! She was great and did her best, but was very uneducated on the menu and the greet was off and lackluster. None of us got to eat together food came to the table 1 at a time 3 came out cold... I can go on forever about the experience being terrible! I asked to speak to a manager 10 times. She would not visit my table, she couldn't have been the GM maybe FOH manager either way she did one table touch and with that one visit she didn't even ask what she could do. I was VERY polite as I'm a General Manager at a restaurant myself, we were very nice! 3 people from my party didn't even get to eat with the rest of the table. 1 sizzler plate actually came out sizzling the other 2 were cold, the plates were hotter than the food. I gazed the restaurant and from 8:30-10:30 there were maybe 4-6 walk-in parties 15 open menus tops. very SLOW evening I'm not sure what made this experience terrible but the manager did not make it better. She left the server who has no power in this to deal with us alone. You can tell she was nervous and embarrassed. This experience would be bad to the average guest. But for me a restaurant professional it was completely unacceptable and after the checks were dropped we stood up for about 5 minutes to wait and see if the manager would come speak to us she totally ignored our party. Like I said we were very nice & polite my guests were very upset but I did not let them talk at all because I wanted this handled how I would handle it if it were my restaurant. She did not touch the table at all. We did not ask for anything we just wanted to eat hot food together as a family and we were completely ignored. Yesterday evening was by far my worst restaurant experience ever in my life. I'd terminate the manager and write up the server if this were my restaurant. They both should be re-oriented, if the GM were present this would never have happened. Note: another table in our section had similar issues and the server appeared to be very frazzled and nobody had her back she clearly new and was weeded with a 3 table section.
