This review is for their carside to go service. You're supposed to be able to order online and they will bring it out to your car. Tried to order a burger and fries. Something is obviously wrong with their website design. There is a required section to "customize your fries". I don't need to custimize my fries. Just want regular fries. Since this is a required section I have to select something to place an order My wife chose the green beans then called the store and explained that I wanted fries. They said ok and said our order would be ready by 8:06pm. Drove up to the restaurant and waited. Finally got my order at 8:30 and you guessed it, green beans instead of fries. Can't imagine they've been offering this service too long with these kinds of simple mistakes. read more

Applebees has not changed since before the pandemic through the pandemic and now. This was an online order to pick up curbside. The person in charge of acknowledging online orders for pick up totally ignored our presence. We were given tartar sauce instead of ranch dressing for our boneless wings and specifically asked for utensils which we did not get either. I asked for a burger with pink in it and it was nowhere to be found. They need to find better management to improve their service or just close it up and get another restaurant worthy of that location. read more

Walk in was waiting for about more that 5 minutes to be seated nobody acknowledged us waiters passing by and never said will be right with you. We waited for a person to come ask us for our drinks or anything say the fir about another 8 min plus still nobody approached us. My wife and I went here today after church service to eat. I gotta say it's been a long while since I or my wife have been in Applebee's. The host was nice and our waiter was really attentive we got checked on by more than one person and our food came fairly quick and we got refills quickly without asking for them. The food was good. I had prime rib dipper and my wife shrimp bowl both were tasty. So we will visit them again in the future. read more

If no stars was an option, I definitely would rate this restaurant with zero stars. The service was incredibly horrible. Never in my dining experience have I encountered such awful service. First, the booth we were given was dirty, the seats were torn, food on the carpet and the table was sticky. Secondly, our server (female) was loud and obnoxious. I think she was under the influence of some type of drug. She made bad jokes and insulted one of my family members because she had a "flip phone". She picked it up and said, "wow these things still exist?" Last, she yelled at one of her coworkers from across the room to bring "agua", (water in Spanish) for one of the tables. She then gave my family member a hard time when asked for coffee, it appeared she was annoyed with the request since it was a pretty late dinner. Had to drive down south for my daughters HS Soccer playoff game so there wasn't a large selection of choices. I started with the Long Island "daily special", let me tell you it was special alright, WAY too sweet and most defiantly not a real Long Island so i had my wife drink it since she like the sugary stuff. I had for the meal the Napa portobello chicken which wasn't too bad nothing to write home about but it still was satisfying enough. My wife had the BLT, which again wasn't earth shattering but was atleast faily good portion. Bottom line is this is a typical Applebees, and that's not a bad thing it just means you will pretty much get the same food quality and value at all the Applebee's. Server/waitress (Faith): Excellent Food (2 burgers and a grilled chicken/shrimp): Good to Very Good Length of time to wait for food to come out (and it was piping hot, so it was not the waitress's fault): Poor Cleanliness of restaurant: Poor (including obvious weeks old food splatter on window coverings, torn seats in booths, etc. "Manager": Lazy bum leaning against the bar watching the UT game most of the time (except for the few moments he stopped to criticize a pregnant female employee on a ladder for how long it was taking her to hang Christmas garland). Within the last 3 months myself or another member of my family have been to this location 3 different times. All three times the experience has deteriorated. Typically the poor experience has little to nothing to do with the wait staff, as they seem to be trying to make the best of a bad situation. The management of this location appears to be the problem (and not just the guy today, because the place as a whole would not be declining if he were the only bad manager there). Cleanliness and basic maintenance have gotten progressively worse with each visit. Food prep time in the kitchen getting longer, and seems to have nothing to do with traffic levels. Today we were one of approximately 6 tables, and waited nearly 30 minutes for our food. Again, this was not the waitress's fault, as it was brought out piping hot. The kitchen is just slow, and getting slower. Last time I told myself that it would be awhile before I went back. She told me to get the shrimp bowl and it was amazing. I know the pandemic it was hard on all of us and a lot of places are short staffed but they sure got lucky with her. I was very upset on my last visit to Applebee's. I ordered the 2 for $20. I asked if I could substitute the burger listed on the deal for a burger of IDENTICAL price. I was told that I could substitute the same priced burger if I paid an additional $1 because it had an egg on it. I tried to explain that the burger (egg included) had the exact same price as the one on the list, but was told again that it would cost an additional dollar because of the egg. Tell me there is a $1 charge for ordering off the list - don't tell me it is because of the egg. The burger doesn't cost more because of an egg - I could order either one for the same price. This whole encounter was so ridiculous. If logic is not going to be a part of the rationale for doing something, then please don't try to justify things with logic. Just say its $1 more because it is your policy. read more

We went here on a week night. The food was nasty! The spinach dip was ok, but nothing to brag about. Once our dinner came, it was salty and not good. I ordered the stir fry and I got celery and rice. The chicken was ok, but very salty. The iced tea was not drinkable so we ordered soft drinks. We were charged for the teas and no one offered to do anything about the food. Our waiter was great! But the cooks were terrible. Came in at 9:45 and didn't get our food until 1030. I understand it was a long day, but I would think the cooks have shifts..... Wow! Went by this afternoon for appetizers and a drink with my daughter and grandson. The baby was asleep in the stroller and the hostess wanted to seat us at the table by the exit, which was passed by patrons on the way out. When we requested another table due to the stroller, she did accommodate us but on the way to the table, there was spilled food all over the floor and dirty tables everywhere! After sitting at the table, I noticed when setting my stuff down that the table was very sticky. We decided to leave at this point. UPDATE! It has been 2 years since I've been to Applebees. Never went back after that horrible experience. And I can say with confidence that I still have not had an experience even come close to how awful Applebees was. Anyways, my girlfriend and I were looking for a place to eat and eventually brought up Applebees as a joke. We then said, "Well we can give it one more shot right? There's no way it will be as bad. It's been 2 years..." Unfortunately here's what happened. We went back to the same exact Applebees, right off I-35 in Kyle, Texas. The parking lot looked about half full but we realized as we walked in there were only about 10 tables in the restaurant during peak dinner rush. The hostess, who could have been no older than 17 was kind and attentive. You could tell she was uncomfortable however, seemed as if she was on edge and nervous about the groups walking in back to back. I asked if we could sit at the bar area because I wanted to watch the NBA games that were on and she said that was no problem. So we sit down, currently the only table in the bar area except for 3 people at the physical bar. We open the menus on the QR code and start going over the menu and.... nothing. Five minutes go by and we didn't even receive a greeting let alone get to place drink orders. As I look around I notice that there seem to be only 2-3 servers taking care of the restaurant so I cut them a little slack. However, that sympathy quickly went away when a family came in and sat at the table DIRECTLY behind us (my back was practically touching the back of the Dad who was seated behind me. This is where I lost my marbles. The lady bartender (there were 2, her and a man) came over to the family and got their drinks immediately. We hadn't even been greeted yet? Even though I was fuming I told myself maybe she would just come back and we could then order our drinks. NOPE! She comes back to the family, takes there food order, and then walks away back to the bar, all while my girlfriend and I are sitting arms reach away from the family. I looked at my girlfriend and let out a maniac's laugh. I told her there was absolutely no way that this was really happening. What made it worse was the male bartender looked identical to the one who served us last time. He was the only good thing about our last review but this time, the 2 bartenders were too busy with 3 people to notice us. What a shame. Anyways, after sitting and waiting with the last bit of hope and dignity in my body for another 11 minutes with NO GREETING I promptly looked at my girlfriend and said we were leaving. She happily agreed. I understand that times are difficult. There is a worker shortage, the pandemic keeps relapsing and there seems to be new problems all the time. But to think that is an excuse 2 years apart, and all the other restaurants I go to every week don't ever let the standards slip. Applebees, especially the one in Kyle is a sorry excuse for a restaurant and a sorry excuse for management that lets the staff act like this. Applebees is what it is in terms of glorified fast food chain restaurants. I live in Kyle, TX, & there isn't a whole lot of selection when it comes to dining out here. Granted, there is a little bit of everything here: Good BBQ, run-of-the mill chinese, mediocre tex-mex & Mexican restaurants but nothing to the caliber of Austin or San Marcos. On the menu, it's the typical generic staples as found in most Applebees. The bar area is nice & new & the bartenders/waitstaff is friendly & attentive. Beer selection is your typical Budweiser & Coors product but does have a variety of their different beers both on tap & in bottles. The dining area of the restaurant is very clean as expected of a brand-new restaurant. The walls are littered with various posters representing Kyle, Buda, & Hays County youth sports to give it a hometown feel. In a town like Kyle, a restaurant like Applebees is a big deal & definitely a smart move for the local franchise owner. Even after the "new" rubs off, this place will always have a packed house.
