I had a few days notice before I was coming here, so I decided to peruse through, quite literally, every review. Many yelpers really like coming here but the common complaints are the fact that the steaks are too salty and service issues. There's about 20 business owner responses but nothing in the last four years and the very first person who reviewed this place 14 years ago actually put this place in perspective. I was surprised how few photos there were, so I'll add my 10. I came here with a group of 20 people for lunch and they put several tables together for us because they do not have a private dining room. I recommend sitting in one of their many booths as their chairs were not very comfortable. We started with the brisket queso and chips, which weregood, but you get no salsa and just a very small helping of pico. When you order your main course, you're only entitled to one free side as opposed to two sides that you would get at the Road House. With that said, the salads were fresh and they kept the hot bread coming. My steak came out well seasoned, not salty and the steamed asparagus was perfectly al dente. My bone in ribeye was equal to anything Road House could make and for this price you're not gonna get prime. Everyone else's entrées met their expectations and drinks were always full. Almost all of us were too full for any dessert. Service was absolutely on point and it's definitely a steak joint I'd come back to. Plenty of parking also. read more

Seated quickly and our server was friendly. The ambience in the restaurant was relaxed. We went early for dinner on a Wednesday so it wasn't crowded when we arrived, but it was definitely busier by the time we left. The highlight of the experience was the steak. I had a ribeye that was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The accompanying baked potato was good and the steamed broccoli was what you would expect. Their bread and butter is also tasty and they offer a few drink specials all day. Overall wonderful experience and we look forward to returning. read more

I've been trying to get a reservation here for a while now! Wait times are usually about 90 minutes, so make sure you join early! We checked in as soon as we can and did errands while we waited. We had a valentines dinner and it was great! I had a strawberry lemonade, and the ribeye was cooked perfectly! I'm always a huge fan of the Mac and cheese! I was taken here for my birthday by my husband and my son treated me for the dinner. We were seated pretty quick. The service was friendly and excellent from drinks to dessert. We had the Stuffed mushrooms for apps, and different cuts of steaks all around. I had my fire-grilled t-bone steak with a loaded bake potato and a salad. Had my steak cooked as Medium. We had a couple of drinks and were done well. I had the Patron dragon fruit margarita and my son had the Moscow mule. Everything was delicious and made with excellence. They even gave me a special treat for my birthday and they came out with a delicious dessert that was ice cream topped with really good whipped cream drizzled with sprinkles and happy birthday written in chocolate. That was very nice of them. The place was nicely dimmed for a relaxing enjoyable ambiance. This place was amazing! Came here for my nephew's graduation dinner and was not disappointed at all. The service was excellent, the servers were so friendly and professional. I don't eat inside the store that often at all, I usually just pick up a big mobile order for my family. Have been doing it for about 4+years now. Your service has always been really consistently good. We usually all order grilled chicken parmesan with salads and baked potato or fried okra. The inside of the store is always super clean and well lit whenever I go pick up my orders so that is always reassuring when picking up my food! My burger was very good. Cooked exactly to requested temperature (medium). I love the fried okra here and it was good as usual. Crispy on the outside but not dried out at all. Service was a bit inattentive. Especially after bringing our entrees. I ordered a side of okra to go with my burger and fries. Waiter misunderstood and brought okra instead of fries. No problem, just bring fries. Fries came just as I was eating the last bite of the burger and were brought by a runner. Never got a refill on my drink. I will skip the brisket queso next time. This restaurant learns nothing. I complained before that the seasoning they put on steaks is far too salty. It is far beyond reasonable and prudent amount of salt - NOT healthy at all. Tonight we both ordered steaks and I asked that they use a minimum amount of seasoning, and I explained why. I returned my plate with more than 80% of the steak uneaten - I told the waiter that it was inedible and that it was very much over seasoned. He said he was sorry but offered no excuse, or reason, or solution. We hade been used to at least one visit monthly, sometimes there were several of us - we will NEVER go back. We are having a steak restaurant summer in our house (once a week, we will go to a steak specific restaurant and evaluate it and pick our favorite at the end of the summer). Unfortunately, this longhorn was NOT a great way to start this epic tour. We went early on a Sunday (5:30) and were seated right away (party of 4). The server was prompt to get us our menus and take our drink order and from there, everything kind of went downhill. Drinks and an app (the Wild West shrimp) came out super quickly, along with their signature brown bread. We placed our meal order and then started to dig in. The bread was lackluster - besides being a warm loaf there was nothing else spectacular about it but we were shocked that we only got one loaf for our party of 4 and then were not offered more. The shrimp portion was huge but it was smothered in pepper relish that was more vinegar than spicy. The shrimp were small but served very hot but not flavorful in any memorable way. Salads came out next, and VERY quickly. Overall, our service was quick - too quick actually. All the courses came out incredibly fast and our server never cleared previous courses so our table was very crowded. The Caesar salads were SWIMMING in dressing - way too much dressing to be enjoyable. Steaks and sides came out shortly thereafter. Two of us split a NY strip. We ordered it medium-rare but it was way more rare than medium with a lot of cold center to it. The seasoning on the steak was good though the incorrect temp kinda ruined it. As for sides, I got the Mac and cheese which was a highlight - very creamy, with a good baked on crust and seasoned well (even had some ham bits in it). My brother (who I shared the steak with) got broccoli and it was bland as hell - just steamed, zero seasoning so a good option if you're trying to choose a healthy side but season it yourself. Others at the table had a filet and then a monster 20oz beast. Loaded baked potato and sweet potato. They enjoyed their steaks and the loaded potato but the sweet potato with butter and brown sugar didn't get eaten. Overall, the meal was $140 for 4 of us and honestly, considering we NEVER got offered a bread refill or drink refill, the service was TOO fast and negligent and the food itself was MEH, we wouldn't recommend and won't be back. When we left, there was a HUGE line waiting to be seated so clearly a lot of people in S Austin do love this place but it's not for us. We hope some of the other steak houses on our summer visit list perform better. read more

Very lackluster experience tonight at Longhorn. Steaks were so heavily seasoned that our mouths were burning from the salt. Ribeye looked like a 6oz from Texas Roadhouse. Steak was cold, and much more rare than medium rare. Caesar salad was bland and we had to remind them 15min after getting our entree. Can vouch for the Brussels sprouts and baby back ribs, both fantastic. Restaurant was nearly empty, still had to wait for 5-10 minutes for them to "clean a table" Floor near our table came with a show as nearly everyone that walked by slipped on some oily substance on the floor. My family came in for a late night dinner after shopping in south Austin. I had the 12 oz ribeye cooked medium, a cup of chowder and a strawberry walnut vinaigrette salad.,. My wife had the Flos filet mignon cooked to medium rare plus 1. And our kid had the sirloin kids meal with a baked potato. It was all so good and hit the spot after working up an appetite on a project outside. The waiter was super attentive and of course he was able to easily persuade me with dessert. My family shared the strawberry cheesecake and it was some of the best, not too sweet and not too heavy. Overall, my fiancé & I have had several good experiences here. The bread they bring out to everyone when you sit down is money. After we order entrees, we then usually get our salads very quickly and they are delicious. As for the entrees, in my opinion the salmon is alright but not great. The steak and lobster entree is great & delicious. We have been to this location a few times, and their appetizers are also good. We will be coming back at some point as well! read more

This was our first time at Longhorn Steakhouse. We had just talked about why we have never gone there before, and here we are. I really liked the decor and atmosphere here, it's not too fancy, and you can come casual. The wait staff were really good, we had a trainee, and he was being shadowed by someone, and the trainee was really good. He kept checking on us, and was quick to remove plate from our table. I had a Shiner Bock, 12 oz, still had to drive home. Then water rest of the night. Maria had a water. Maria got the 12 oz steak, medium cooked, and a sweet potato, loaded. She loves to eat a good steak every now and then. I had a special order, I ordered the chicken fried chicken, no gravy, and added queso and pico de gallo. My favorite. Also had the fried okra, I was expecting the small okra, I got the long cut okra. I bit into the first, and it was really stringy. Had to spit it out. Then I cut the rest of the okra up. Also had the the steam broccoli. The chicken was two good size pieces, and very crunchy on the outside, moist on the inside. I had to order the brisket queso so I can smother my chicken with the queso. Not too happy that I had to pay for the extra appetizer, but it was what I wanted. The food was strictly average. But that is not why I gave this restaurant a 1 star review. My husband and I went out to dinner specifically to get Longhorns Molten Lava cake. It is our favorite. We ordered it and they said that they were out of ice cream. I said ok, well can they maybe discount it a little because of that and the manager said no. So we said ok. Well, it can out cold, which it is supposed to be hot (hence the name Molten Lava), and I ordered a coffee. It was also cold. I was not even offered a refill. But I thought it was poor management to not even come out in person and explain why they wouldn't discount or even come and acknowledge us in any way. Not very well managed in my opinion. I had a $25 gift card to Longhorn that I was given almost a year ago and finally decided to use it tonight for dinner. Before coming here I did look online at their allergen menu to find out what I could eat while dining in for dinner since I am dairy and gluten free. Upon arrival we were immediately welcomed and taken to our table. I ordered the Flo's filet 6 oz medium rare, sweet potato plain and a side salad. I made sure to inform the waiter that I am dairy free and gluten free. I was slightly concerned when my salad came out with cheese but it was immediately corrected and had no issues with the rest of my meal. Overall my experience with the food was better than last time I came to a Longhorn. The steak was tasty and the sweet potato was yummy. The salad was a little bland and had some browning lettuce but a side is a the least of my concerns. My husband ordered the sirloin med rare, okra and fries. The steak was more rare but no complaints from my husband about that. He did enjoy the fries and said they had a special seasoning on them that he enjoyed. My husband also enjoyed his okra as anything that is breaded and or fried is delicious. He was however a little disappointed that he didn't get any complimentary bread. I am not sure what happened but right after we showed up our waiter seemed to get very busy. Overall decent food for a chain restaurant. I do need to note my Moscow mule that I ordered with dinner tasted like it was a virgin Moscow mule which was a little disappointing since the drink was $8. read more

Aside from Ruth's Chris, this is one of the the best ribeyes I have ever had. You know it's fabulous steak when you don't need anything with it besides the juices. From the hostess to the servers to the manager, everyone is so nice! It's much less chaotic than TX Roadhouse. The lighting is better, the tables are cleaner and I can actually hear when people talk to me. This is worth trying again if you had a not so good experience before. This location is awesome!
