I don't ever write these but I am from the south and I was passing through here on my way to Vermont for a work trip. I seriously goofed by leaving my box of sketchers from the mall in the booth. I didn't realize until I was 3 hours down the road at which point I called to see if they had them. They did, and they kindly held them for me until I was able to come back through 2 days later. They even asked what brand of shoes they were to ensure I was the owner. Top notch work by some top notch employees. My coworker and I were impressed by this. The food was absolutely wonderful as well! Neither of us have been to an Applebee's in years so we didn't know what to expect. This was a 10/10 experience. This is going to sound funny but its not. Took my mother out for mothers day yesterday. Poor thing had an accident on herself in another store after leaving here. Then I,myself had the runs for 3 hours overnight. The chicken sandwich I had was rubber. Fries too salty. The mozzarella sticks? one bite ..whole mouth full of oil. My waitress was good though. They have never gotten my order right -- it's almost impressive how consistent they are at being inconsistent. The food tastes like it was sourced from the reject bin at the dollar store, assembled by someone blindfolded, and reheated in a microwave last cleaned during the Obama administration. And the shift manager? Oh, you'll see him. You can't miss him. He patrols the dining room like he's the chosen one sent to bless us with the sacred gift of undercooked burgers and watery cocktails. Went there last night. A large crowd ahead of us, but waited about 15 mins or so for a table. Once seated our sever greeted us properly, took our drink order and brought it to our table immediately. We ordered and got our food pretty fast and it was really good. The whisky burger was great. The fries were too salty but other than that no complaints. Our server was excellent! read more

After a weekend getaway in Cape Cod, I had some business in the Hunter Mountain area. I noticed on a map that Oneonta, NY was not to far away and our first grandson is in his first year there so I figured it would be a good opportunity to see him and have lunch. Before getting there I checked Yelp and there seemed to be quite a few restaurants that appealed to me, but let my grandson pick and this was his choice. Well I travel a lot for work and always figure you can't go wrong with a chain restaurant. So Applebee's it is. I should point out that this restaurant is in a shopping center but is not freestanding. So you have to look a little to see it. OK the food: He had a burger and I had the Bourbon Chicken & Shrimp. He put away the burger and fries quickly so I figure it was good. My meal was likewise good. Service was prompt and courteous. Then I looked at previous reviews and none looked good so what's the problem. I have no idea but remember this is a college town so there's a lot of young, and I guess sometimes rambunctious young people as well as transients. I should also point out that this was a Tuesday and seemed a little slow so maybe that contributed to the speed and courteous service. I say you should give them a chance, but next time I visit my grandson I'll pick the restaurant. read more

Worst possible dining experience. Friends and I had over an hour wait time after being told it would be 20 minutes. We waited 1 hour to even order food and recieve our drinks after being seated. From the time we arrived to being served food was roughly 3 hours and half of the food had to be sent back. Terrible restaurant and terrible service. do not eat here. read more

After reading reviews i was hesitant to go for dinner on Friday night. I'm glad we decided to try anyway. Our waiter... who's name escapes me was the most polite kid u could ask for. Friendly and accommodating. The minute we walked in we were seated. Ordered 2/$20 dinners You can see the size of my chicken breast. It was moist and very flavorful. My husband ordered the steak and told me it was one of the best steaks he's had in awhile. Our app was the artichoke/spinach dip which was phenomenal. I told the waiter AND the staff at the door how pleased we were. Seriously i dont understand the negative reviews. We had a great meal at a great price. 8/30/2013 Ordered the new menu items from the honey selections. One steak one mac and cheese with chicken. Asked for medium rare and received a well done steak... Pasta was ok but most the sauce was at the bottom. Being used to the terrible service and bad orders I let the waitress know (who also was appalled by how obviously wrong the steak was) that i was used to this sort of service. I believe the cook came out and apologized for the steak and made another which was picture perfect of a medium rare. They removed the steak of the bill, left the cost of the steak as a tip for the waitress. read more

I moved to this area from Norwalk CT 4 weeks ago for work, I've dined out about twice a week since moving. This is my first review of a restaurant in this area, and it's because I had such a great time (finally). I went here yesterday for their Veterans Day Specials, they were very busy as I entered. Families were sitting at the entrance waiting for their tables, and the bar was packed. I was greeted right away by the hostess, I sat at the bar, and again was greeted right away by the bartender (Stephanie). Every other customer at the bar was a Veteran, I felt very much at home being around my people. A special Veteran's menu was given to me, ordering from this menu equaled a free meal. I was shocked that she said free drinks s well, I'm use to free food on Veterans Day, but not free drinks, lol I was also given a Veteran's $5 discount card for a near future visit. It expires in one month, I will definitely go back. Probably once a week from now on. As of right now, this is my new favorite place to dine :) read more

Applebee's for a Steak Dining at Applebee's is always a nice relaxing experience. I like to try different things when I go out for dinner and Applebee's will occasionally add a few new menu item. For this visit I had the Grilled Onion Sirloin with Stout Gravy, a new addition to the menu. A 7oz sirloin steak served with grilled onion, roasted tomato and roasted red onions covered with a nice stout gravy. The steak was served cooked perfectly for me (medium rare) and was nice and tender and juicy. The potatoes were lightly spiced and had a nice flavor to them. The roasted tomatoes where cooked with some garlic and basil making very flavorful. The gravy was good but did not over power any of the other flavors. My server was very friendly and had a smile the whole time. The restaurants atmosphere was very relaxed and I felt very comfortable dining in this Applebee's Restaurant. read more

Came in Friday night around 9pm and was told it'd be an hour wait. Super friendly about it but we didn't have the time so we went to five guys down the strip mall. Come back Saturday around 5:45 and get seated right away. I had the shrimp parm / steak w broccoli and garlic mashed. Medium rare and it came out really good. IMO perfect amount of pink red center it was delish. Came to check on us a few times but my drink was wrong and I didn't care to wait so drank it. Odd we were charged for ice. I mean 50 cents but it seemed ridiculous to even have that in the bill for all the drinks. Should I have ordered room temperature alcohol? Waitress was on point and friendly. Five stars for Shannon. She was absolutely fabulous. This was my second visit to this applebees. August 23 we were here for lunch after setting my son's dorm room up for him. Very emotional. Service that day was terrible. I will admit though at one point I was literally hysterical crying, napkin over face and sobbing thinking we were leaving him to survive on his own, so that may have played into my thoughts on how I felt that day about our waiter. Well hours later I knew he would survive. He adjusted quit well and very quick I have to say. Anyway onto tonight. We were very lucky to get Shannon as our waitress. She was extremely nice and welcoming. Always on top of everything and making sure we were happy. The food was what could be expected for Applebees and as my family knows I'm not a fan but tonight Shannon may have made me become a fan. I will be back to this location, especially since my first born child is now a freshman at Oneonta and we plan on visiting a lot. Asked for a quesadilla burger medium served a red one. They took the entire plate back to re cook the burger. They served me the same burger. I would not eat it and refused to accept it due to cross contamination on the vegetables on the burger. They made me a new one. Reading the more recent reviews gives me the impression Oneonta's Applebees runs HOT AND COLD. The bartender lady from Edmonton was great. I told her I would hire her if in that business. She made all the drinks used during that busy time. Foods that night were great! Twice since then I have vowed never to go there again. Foods were not the same. If you have great kitchen help, pay them to make them stay. I don't know any of them but know some care and are skilled and some aren't and don't. With Brooks;' and Morey's basically changing with the patrons NOT being kept in mind..,..and some pizza places skimping while doubling prices, there is a chance for diners and restaurants to pick up the slack. Many are voicing their anger about the obvious greed and other negative changes. If younger I would open a restaurant to easily pick up the angered customers....and the great employees, too. (Not allowed to pick a one and and five. One is my current number.) read more

Traveling for business, working long days, decided to go to Applebee's for dinner. Food was typical for this type of restaurant, it was served hot and fresh. Waitress was very friendly and accommodating. The reason I gave it a 1 is because upon arrival, which was around 7:40pm, the hostess asked how many in my party, told her 1 person, was asked if I wanted to sit at bar, I declined and asked for a booth. I was told by her none were available. When I looked over to my right I could see 2 empty booths. I questioned her about them and I was told I could not sit in them because I was a party of 1 and they are for larger party's. Mind you it was 7:40pm on a Thursday night, the place was only, at best 2/3 full and there was no one else waiting to be seated. I could very well understand if the place was busy and people were waiting for tables or other people with larger groups were behind me...but no, none of that happened. I told the hostess that I have never heard of such a thing, it is only a booth for 4 people, there are 2 that I can plainly see that are open and that I would like to sit in a booth. Again I was declined because she said it is policy that a party of 1 can not sit in those booths. I then mentioned to her that I am a paying customer and that is very discriminating that 1 person can not have a booth. If there were other dining options in the area and it wasn't so late and I wasn't so hungry I would have left, so I took the single small table and ate.......but...I have traveled for 35+yrs, I have eaten in many chain restaurants all over this country and I have never heard of such a thing. I will never eat in another Applebee's again as they seem to have no problem discriminating against patty's of 1 read more

Came here on Monday afternoon with a group of 11. We were seated immediately (always nice when you have a large group). I ordered the penne chicken Alfredo dish which was good. Around the table we shared Chinese chicken salad which was excellent, couple of friends ordered club sandwiches which were a hearty size and they said it was excellent. My wife ordered a cheeseburger which she said was bland but okay. We also ordered a few $1 drink specials and a few beers. This is one of my favorite places to eat. However, tonight I was extremely dissatisfied! My server was very slow and payed no attention to what was going on around them. My food came out with bacon when the description did not say bacon. As a vegetarian I was very upset, but unable to complain as my server wasn't around and the nearby servers ran past... ran! When my husband and I were done eating and waiting on boxes, we waited over an hour! No exaggeration! Over an hour for BOXES, before I was able to flag down another server.
