We shall see what we shall see soon, for as this is the last night I can do such things before heading west for a while. I'm thankful this visit was long enough to permit two visits to the rooted establishment. If they opened a 2.0 that's what they should call it. Rooted on Main Street. Tasty treats and ample cerveza offerings. Spirits for those that enjoy Halloween all year round. Art by local artists on the walls and some you can take with you evening of. Others you must wait for, but that makes your heart grow fonder. Main attribute that lies beneath the visible veneer of happy is a felt sense that the folks that own and run the establishment care about their customers and the patron experience. This isn't necessarily a rare thing, other shops in town and around do as well. But it's a good thing, and good to appreciate and be outwardly thankful for. So. Thank you Roots people. See you in an hour.

I ordered the shooters bites and they were good, but the pork belly Mac and cheese tasted like boxed Mac and had little pieces of pork belly in it. I didn't finish it. They also lack an ac which I thought was ridiculous given that they total renovated this place. It was so hot and muggy from the rainy day (only 75 outside though) and I felt like I had to leave early because I was so uncomfortable. Seating was more limited than I would have hoped for. Oh well. I paid cash. 20 minutes later we received my chicken wings, but they said there were no more falafel. I asked for a refund as I paid in cash. The manager said she was not authorized to give refunds and offered drink chips instead to which I declined. The manager called the owner, then came back and offered the drink chips again. To which i declined again and asked for a refund. She again said she could not do that. The cops were called and 7 officers came. They stated it was a civil matter and we would have to take the owner to small claims court. I just wanted my refund which i did not get.the cops asked us to leave. Which we did without incident. How does a manager not have the authority to give refunds?

"We don't have a cocktail menu, but we can make anything you'd like."…read more That was one of the first things our server told us, and honestly, it was refreshing. These days, it feels like every bar has a cocktail menu full of creatively named drinks that require reading a list of ingredients just to figure out what you're ordering. At Governor's Tavern, if you want a gin and tonic, you simply ask for a gin and tonic. The only decision you need to make is which gin you'd like. I'm not much of a cocktail person, but I appreciate that not every place feels the need to reinvent the wheel. The place was packed at lunchtime, but we got lucky and grabbed a pair of seats across from the bar. The server who I quoted was genuinely friendly and welcoming. I ordered a Guinness, but unfortunately the keg had just kicked. She recommended the Samuel Smith chocolate stout instead and even brought me a sample before I committed to taste since I never heard of it, which was a nice touch. For food, we ordered the State Grill burger and the Nashville Hot chicken sandwich. Both were excellent, and each came with Belgian-style hand-cut fries. If you're spending the day browsing the boutiques and antique shops along Warren Street and want a drink, a good meal, and a lively mix of locals and tourists, Governor's Tavern is worth a stop.

Only a few people appear to have ordered food here. Basically, the place appears to be a watering hole. Only app.metered parking in the area.

Y'all, they moved to Hallstead…read more Oh. My. Goodness. I cannot sing enough praises for this brewery. I have found, I think, only two of their beers that I wasn't keen on. The beers are always very well balanced, always gentle with a very distinct flavor (if you can imagine that), and always served with a smile. Try the Belgian Peach, if they have it. Or the midnight lager, which is a similar darkness to a Guinness, but you don't have to chew it. The (forgive me, I've forgotten what they named it) jalapeño beer is most definitely worth your time, if you're into that slight burn in your throat and belly. I've heard they to some excellent hard seltzers, too, but I'm always too excited to try the new beers to actually drink any seltzer. And when you're ready to eat, 2 Dogz has partnered with a BBQ joint worthy of being served with the best brewery in the area: Red Rock. Definitely try out their chicken, it will change your life (especially after a few of those midnight lagers). The staff adores dogs, so bonus points! There's a treat jar behind the bar, and they will absolutely coo over your pooch and bribe them with treats. If you're passing through or in the area and trying to find something interesting to put in your mouth, definitely try 2 Dogz. They're worth every penny.

We had the raclette, herbed spaetzle and split chicken schnitzel. First, the raclette was so delicious. The cheese was warm and gooey over tender potatoes, and accompanied by various pickled items & crostini. The herbed spaetzle was good, though a touch sweet for my taste. Regardless, it was delicious and warm. The waiter had the schnitzel split for us without asking, which I appreciated. It was juicy and paired with sour/sweet red cabbage and mustard/tangy German potato salad. The meal was very filling and not badly priced. The food here is legitimately delicious, not "just good" for a restaurant near the ski resort. We sat outside on the upper deck with a nice mountain view. After dinner we had a drink by one of the open fire pits outside, which was a cozy way to end a delicious meal. We will definitely be back when in the area.

We…read morerecently stayed in the area for a youth baseball tournament in Cooperstown and ended up eating here THREE nights in a row--that is how phenomenal it is. The food is incredible. The owner and chef is immensely talented, serving up fresh, farm-to-table dishes. Because everything is so fresh, the specifics change nightly, but everything we ordered was a huge win. The beef carpaccio was dynamite, and the Prosciutto Pizza, house-made focaccia bread, "farm goodies," bolognese, hangar steak, and caprese ravioli were all absolutely delicious. You can taste the quality and care in every single bite. (Sorry no pics...we were too busy eating!) Beyond the stellar food, the cocktail menu is an absolute blast. They have a whole lineup of delicious, creative craft drinks with "The Princess Bride" themed names! Trying the different drinks became half the fun of our dinners. What truly sets this place apart, though, is the service. We had a server named Beth whom we absolutely loved. By the third night, she knew exactly what my daughter wanted to drink as soon as we sat down! The owners and the entire staff are warm, welcoming, and treat you like family. If you are anywhere near Oneonta or Cooperstown, do yourself a huge favor and eat here. We will definitely be back the next time we are in town!

It's an older house painted red with black trim, featuring a newer deck that, at least when we visited, had no furniture on it. At first glance, you might assume it's a neighborhood sports bar or a casual local hangout. Step inside, however, and you'll find something completely different. The atmosphere is warm, intimate, and inviting, with a classic dining ambiance that makes it feel like a hidden gem tucked away in the neighborhood. We were in Oneonta for Cooperstown All Star Village and were excited to discover this cozy farm-to-table restaurant. The food was excellent, and the setting made for a memorable dining experience. We started with the Crab Puffs, made with empanada dough, crab rangoon filling, and a jalapeño-green onion emulsion. They were creative, flavorful, and a great way to begin the meal. For our entrée, we shared the daily fish special, halibut served with farm-fresh potatoes and carrots. The fish was perfectly cooked, and the fresh ingredients really showcased the farm-to-table concept. The dish was simple, fresh, and delicious. To finish the meal, we shared the Crème Brûlée for dessert. It was outstanding, with a perfectly caramelized sugar crust and a rich, creamy custard that provided the perfect ending to an excellent dinner. Despite the restaurant being packed, we were seated immediately and received excellent service throughout the evening. The staff was attentive, friendly, and kept everything running smoothly. The drink menu was another highlight, offering a solid selection of craft beers, wines, and cocktails. Overall, this was one of the best meals we had during our trip. Great food, excellent service, a cozy atmosphere, and a unique setting make this restaurant well worth seeking out if you're in Oneonta.
