This Applebee's is on Nine Mile Road, one of the area's more distant briskly moving arteries, probably about 9 miles north of downtown Pensacola. It's a standard Applebee's and I don't have an issue with "fern bars." This is what we'd call the Applebee's/Chili's/TGI Fridays typology when growing up and where others would adult. The needed ingredients are a lot of wood, brass railings, and plants, which you see less of today. So what's the deal with these ratings? I went to this Applebee's twice in a 4 or 5 day period. "Fern bars" serve a purpose - sensible American options and platters that are predictable ... or happy hour food and libations for those who seek that. I went into this Applebee's the first time and got a chicken breast dinner and lemonade. Everything was tasty. It's never enough ... for me, that is. I could eat a lot more of that chicken. On the table was a placard inside a small plastic stand indicating they had specials and that, on another day, burgers were nicely priced. I came back for the burger special. I may eat at these sorts of places and may even sometimes go to BK on Whopper Wednesday, so I will eat a burger every now and then. The burger meal here was also fine. I received good service on both visits. On the first visit, it was closer to closing and they weren't that busy. On the day with the burger special, it was busier. This Applebee's is kept up. From where I was seated on a slightly elevated mezzanine, I could see most of the interior including the bar. I think the restroom was less than stellar, but not too bad. The brick exterior is also nicely kept up. There is a large parking lot in front and around the side. The most challenging thing might be getting here if you don't know where to turn on that racetrack that is Nine Mile Road. read more

Terrible service and then the kitchen manager was rude to me for sending my food back

Had Applebee's delivered yesterday. The food was hot, temperature wise. That is the best thing I can say about it. The fish was soaked in oil, the coleslaw tasted and looked like it was two days old. Everything else was mediocre at best. Very disappointing. Poor quality. Will not be ordering from there again. read more

Wyndie and I were eating late Saturday night and decided to try Applebees. When we were younger this was our go to for a weekend dinner. We both got the bourbon chicken and shrimp skillet. Nice big restaurant with several options for seating. Large areas great for groups and with multiple tv's. The inside was dingy, dark and it had that musky stale beer smell. We were in the mood for a salad and this is where we landed. Not impressed with anything except the service. The food was good and our server was polite and quick. Not that it was busy. Typical Applebees experience. Always see the regulars surrounding the bar, customers dotted in different sections around the dimly lit restaurant. Went for the AYCE Riblet's & Boneless Wings special the 1st night and back after Planet Fitness for the Tex-Mex Shrimp Bowl a week later. Our server was on point both times and made sure we had everything we needed. Had to ask for extra Sweet Asian Chili Sauce for the Riblet's cause they're skimpy with the sauce when they serve the Riblet's. The Extra Hot Buffalo Boneless Wings are the same way and too much breading. The Tex-Mex Shrimp Bowl was flavorful and the shrimp were cooked well, but the bowl has too much rice as a filler. We went here for dinner a couple weeks ago. Food was ok, server forgot a few items so my husband had to wait. This location is just dirty, walls, seating areas, windows and tables. The wallpaper or Sheetrock paper is coming off the wall and was damp near the dirty vents. The floor is so sticky you have to do high knees in order to get your shoes off the floor when you walk. The entire restaurant smells like dirty dish water as well. You don't notice it when your first walk in but it eventually hits you. This location needs a huge scrub down or remodel. read more

I got the Four cheese Mac & Cheese with Honey pepper chicken Tenders. The pasta was bland, not much flavor or seasoning to it. The sauce on the chicken was fire but the chicken itself was kind of dry, I would rate it a 2/5. The hamburger was great all around, it wasn't a dry at all, was pretty juicy. Oh my gosh this place need to close. My husband and I went there today for lunch and the food was so nasty and cold. The cheese stick were not fully cooked and my pasta was so dry until I could not even eat it. If you just want to give your money away and still be hungry we'll this is the perfect place to go and do that because that's exactly what we did today. I will not be going back there again. Let me tell you, the service was great especially compared to some of the service we have been seeing at other restaurants. I simply would come back for Sherry's service. Extremely sweet and always so attentive. Not with just myself but from every table I've seen her wait on. We've driven by several times and decided this time to stop in. We'll continue to drive past in the future. Our food server was a trainee and unable to answer our questions. She had to leave our table and ask another server several times. The wines on the menu listed calories but not prices. Our server had no idea either. Hostess stayed busy and welcomed all new guests quickly. It is VERY clean. Server John was attentive and polite. Servers seem to work together. Our server refilled my drink without me having to ask AND got it right. I ordered chips and queso. It is $7.99 and did not come with salsa. Extra salsa is an extra $.50 cents. It made me laugh because of how dumb that is but I ordered it just to check it out. It came in a little oz type cup which made me laugh again. It shows in the photo and looks larger than it is. Queso was not hot, but warm, and by the time my guest arrived it was cold. The rest of the food was great. The service was great and I love that it was so clean inside including the table which does not seem to be the trend these days.
