We were staying at best western, just 3 min walk away. Ordered carry out. It was cooked and ready in 10 mins. We had queso and chips, chicken tortilla soup, and a southwest shrimp bowl. Bowl was excellent, soup was very good- queso was okay. Overall we were pleasantly surprised. The Applebees in our town is awful. The server was quick and friendly. Nice quick takeout experience. Ordered a Caesar salad with a side of tomato basil soup for curbside to go. I got home and was appalled to discover such a small serving. I poured it into an 8 once measuring cup and it appears to be only 4 ounces (See pictures). It cost $3.99, which is $1.00 per ounce. What's even worse, my granddaughter had the soup (same size but not as a side order) and it cost $5.29 which is a whopping $1.32 per ounce! I called and spoke with a manager and he was very apologetic but he also confirmed that the standard serving size is 6 ounces. Even if we had not been shorted, the soup is way too expensive for such a small serving. The manager was very polite and agreed to provide more soup and even threw in a dessert for my troubles. It seems like the pricing is a corporate issue and Applebee's should be ashamed for charging such exorbitant prices for such mall portions. read more

We ordered a couple of medium steaks. They both came out well done. We mentioned it to the waitress and she offered to have two new steaks brought out. We declined, just because it's hard to send food back. I always feel bad doing that and we didn't really want to wait. But I also hate paying for food that is not good. Well the waitress let the manager know and he came over and offered again to bring new steaks out. We let him. It Kind of ruined that nights experience, as we didn't want to eat the sides by themselves and they became cold. But the manager brought out two complete plates with hot sides and steak cooked to the requested temp. We couldn't stay and eat, but I was very impressed with both the waitress and the manager for going the extra mile to make it right. Had the appetizer combo. It was good. Only thing, there was way too much salt in the spinach dip. When combined with salty tortilla chips, the salt taste was off the charts. And not in a good way. I think I will still keep coming to bees , their week end hours are awesome(like they normally should be in other restaurants,but Poky is Poky).Even Wal Mart and Albertsons have special hours here. We were greeted by the hostess with a command to "sit down on the bench and I'll get your table in a minute". She disappeared after a few minutes and we never saw her again. After about 10 minutes, another person, maybe the manager asked if we were waiting for a table. Umm, why else would we be sitting there? Our waitress, Shannah M. was prompt and attentive, but our steaks were terrible. I had the top sirloin and my husband had the ribeye. Shoe leather would have been more tender. Oh Applebee's... Why must you always disappoint? I just returned from the most horrendous experience of my life. First of all, we sit down and the table is set up with this tablet, equipped with a menu of games. I go to play a game and it wants to charge me two dollars for something I could do for no cost on my iPhone. Ridiculous. For my meal, I ordered chicken tenders, apple juice, and a shake. There are two types of milkshakes on the menu, but they are drastically different. Decadent shakes and Shorty shakes are the two options, and there are no pictures or explanations for either. The shorty shakes are more expensive and have what I could only describe as "more deluxe" flavors. Naturally, I order one, assuming it is a step up from your everyday shake. After receiving it... I think not. This is completely bogus! My chocolate nut brownie shorty shake is practically the size of a shot glass, and it has a bite size brownie on top. How can one charge more for less??? This is highway robbery! I think that it must taste pretty delicious to be this small and also more expensive. It doesn't. In fact, it is eerily similar to a normal Applebee's Oreo shake, which is really not good either. They both taste like someone poured milk and cream in a cup with Oreos and blended it up. Very unfortunate. To complete this review, I will touch on the actual meal. The chicken tenders weren't awful but were indeed overly breaded. I will never return to this Applebee's location. EVER. We came in with a large group last night, and the hostess, Shelby, was the absolute worst. She was so rude and disrespectful. Now, they were understandably busy, but Shelby treated us like garbage. As we walked in, she refused to seat us because we didn't have an exact number of people, although we told her we had 6-8 people. As we were still waiting on one or two people, we didn't have an exact number, and so she refused to place us on her list. Eventually, the last two people arrived and we told her the exact number. She then said, "We're not putting people's names down because the kitchen is so backed up." She told us the wait would be 25 minutes, which we were okay with. Just then, two other couples walked in behind us, and she happily greeted them and put their names down, but refused to write ours down. When we asked her if we could get placed on the list, she again told us that we couldn't be seated until the kitchen wasn't so backed up, even though they had plenty of open tables and were seating other couples. The way she handled the situation was just poor. We decided to leave 5 minutes later. Sorry, Applebees, but if you continue to employ hostesses like Shelby, who refuse to pull the stick out of their ass, I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

I have eaten at the local Applebee's numerous times over the past several years that I have lived in Pocatello, and no matter how many chances I give them, I personally prefer not to waste my money in their establishment anymore. The reason being, is that I can PROMISE you that will have 1 of 3 experiences: 1st: You will have an excellent server, but your food/drink order will be completely wrong, messed up, very unsatisfactory, etc. 2nd: Your server will be very unsatisfactory, and in fact, at times horrible, but your food/drink order will be satisfactory or decent. 3rd: Your server will be very unsatisfactory or horrible, AND your food/drink order will be completely wrong, messed up, very unsatisfactory, etc. My advice is to take your business elsewhere. First experience was really bad, but decided to give it a second chance. Ordered thru DoorDash. DoorDash is excellent, always 5 star service. So the food..my son and I each ordered a bowl of soup. He ordered the "basket of fries" and I ordered pretzels with beer cheese dip. Shouldn't be able to mess that up. Each cup of soup was in a 1 measuring cup sized dish...they were each half full. Not exaggerating, we measured it out while laughing at ourselves. Also they were a bit over $5 each. His "basket" was maybe a medium McDonald's size. Tonight I realized Applebee's on the whole is an epic fail as a culture, not individually by location. I'm a huge Happy Hour Honk. Offer me cheap beer and food and I'll consume until my stomach is a fire hazard. You know, like my stomach is at maximum occupancy. The happy hour at Applebee's might as well be non-existent. $3.25 for domestic pints and 1/2 price on some apps is just alright based on food quality. The food quality is generally above par.....except for today. My hot buffalo wings were mild at best. Decent taste but not what I asked for. I also ordered an Oriental Chicken Wrap to go that actually tasted accurate and amazing. 1 out of 2 ain't bad I reckon. The service today was spot on. The server was very friendly and very attentive. It's because of her this location gets a 3 out of 5. I learned a very important lesson today....Don't go to Applebee's anymore. You will be disappointed in some way or another. If you'd like to have your Valentine's dinner wrecked, just go to Applebee's in Pocatello and visit Amanda. We arrived during happy hour when all drinks are half off so none should cost more than $3. We also had a 10% discount from our hotel. After ordering more items than we needed Amanda told us about a good $1 drink and kept saying "And it's only a dollar". I asked if I could get one with crushed ice and she said she'd check. She brought it directly out without asking first and said she had to "ring it up differently because this particular drink doesn't come with crushed ice, is that ok?" Well, I don't know if that's ok or not. So the bill came and there were two separate charges for the drink, one for $4.50 and the other for $3.59, a total of over $8! What happened to the "Only a $1" drink?! And this one was almost 3 times any Happy Hour price! Not only that but the 10% discount wasn't applied either. When asked about it Amanda said she'd take it up with her manager. OK. She comes back and says we can give you 20% off your bill to make up for it. What? Our real bill total should have been about $30 minus 10%. This bill was about $41. So 20% off would be around $8 and closer to our actual cost. But the discount on this bill was $3.50! Go figure. We were disgusted and left our dessert before we'd finished just to get out of there. We decided not to leave a tip on the $43 bill. They'd already wrangled what they had to have. As fun-wrecking as all that was (and not entirely unexpected as we'd also had a similar experience at another Applebee's in Idaho Falls at which time we said we wouldn't go back again), the real icing on the cake was when we got our credit card bill: Amanda had charged us not even the $43, but $48! Needless to say we'll never go to any Applebee's ever again, even if it's the only restaurant in the entire state or country. Thanks for listening. P.S. It pains me to give this restaurant one star but it deserves zero after the service we received tonight. We arrived around 7:30. Ordered, everything was great until our drinks sat empty for 20 minutes. Our server never checked on us. A different server refilled our drinks. Now onto the food: Our server walked by and asked how our food was but she never served us any food. 15 minutes later, i received my mozzarella sticks but my boyfriend received his burger about 10 minutes after my food. The mozzarella sticks were mediocre, but the All Day Brunch Burger was delicious. After I took a bite of my mozzarella sticks, they were so greasy that I needed a napkin, but were we're not given silverware or napkins. I, then, located some unused, wrapped up silverware. Overall service: Absolutely terrible. Our server was only present to close our table because that section of the restaurant was closing. The funny thing is, she decided to close our table while we we're waiting on our food. She reached across the table while I was eating my mozzarella sticks. Not exactly okay in my book.
