For a couple of years now, my friend and I have made this stop on some occasions. Located on route 9 in the Home Depot plaza makes it not hard to miss, although, heading- southbound a turnaround is required. Google Maps would come in handy. I'm impressed to see at Applebee's, at least in this location, is the great offers and sales to order. One of the ones we get is the 2 for $20 (2 people) with different entree choices plus one appetizer, one being a cheeseburger with fries for example. Although take note of the location for pricing, because it varies. There were times when service can be slow, so do have patience with them. But there are times where it isn't so bad, so I guess the time and day play a role. This Applebee gets a passing grade. read more

One of the worst dining experiences I've had. The food was rubbery and cold, the servers were unaware and didn't seem happy to be there, and the restaurant itself hadn't looked like it had a renovation in over 40 years. The ranch was incredibly watery and the grilled chicken looked and tasted like rubber. And don't even get me started on the broccoli... it was so mushy I couldn't finish it. And I love broccoli. The lighting was bland and sad which, on top of the food itself, made the experience feel like a chore rather than a pleasant dinner. Went to Applebees Poughkeepsie location across from Marist. Place was half full so I was surprised to hear there would be a 10 minute wait. The host actually asked one of the servers could you take this table meaning us and he was like oh well basically no and I'm like isn't your purpose to get as many tips as possible on top of your hourly wage? I asked the hostess are you guys hiring? It seems like you're short staffed and the reply was I have no idea you need to talk to my manager.so we get seated and the bartender was our server. Laura was the one bright spot. Customer, focused and super friendly. She got our orders taken very quickly and since she was the bartender, we opted for one piña colada and a chocolate martini both were delicious. We opted for the two for $28 meals, which includes one appetizer of your choice. We took mozzarella sticks, and you got two entrées. My wife had lime chicken, and I opted for a steak. I asked for a medium on my steak and to be honest with you, it was almost rare that was a little disappointing, and I'm not sending back a steak so I powered through it the taste was good. I also opted to add shrimp. which was a good addition for only three dollars more and our two grandkids took the pizza from the kids menu. My wife and I have been coming here on and off for about 15 years. We hadn't been here in a while and decided to meet friends here for after church dinner. Everything started off pretty usual, yet seemed a bit slower then usual. We put in our order and waited and waited and noticed everyone around us that came in after us started getting served before us, when we finally got a chance to catch the waitress attention she was bringing us our order, without the appetizers being brought out. So I asked where's our appetizers, which I got a response of oh I thought they were already brought out, to which i replied if you stopped to check to see how we were doing we could have told you that we hadn't gotten anything after a 30 minute wait. As I read the previous reviews it seems like this has been going on for almost a year without being corrected. The waitress went back to talk to the manager to find out what happened and he appetizers mysteriously arrived 3 minutes after the food. The manager came out after we were already into our meal, to apologize. His reasoning was the to go orders backed up his kitchen to make the fryer to busy to make the appetizers for the inside orders. Our issue wasn't that the to go orders were busy, it was that the lack of communication that they were still working on it, and the complete oversight that we never got the appetizers. To try to make up for it the manager offered 1 desert for 4 people to split, we all looked at each other and said are you serious? by that point it was like, ok what ever, the appetizers made it our after the meal and the manager was only making it worse by offering 1 desert for 4 people. After 15 years of dedicated good service this one experience ruined it, because we are not sure the corrections will be made especially after reading the last years reviews. After our conversation with the manager, I over heard a gentleman at the next table complaining about no paper towels in the Men's Restrooms. I have been told if a restaurant restroom isn't cleaned and checked on at least every hour, what must the kitchen look like especially a closed off kitchen that the customer can not see? The food did come out hot and delicious and the kitchen staff did a great job but the service has become awful, and left us asking ourselves do we really want to go back if we are going to get bad service again? So even when we had leftover food, and the waitress gave us containers so we could pack up our food, she didn't even have sense enough to bus the table and take away the dirty dishes, until I started putting them on the empty clean table behind us to give us room to start packing up the leftovers, not sure if it was meant to be a dig because we talked to the manager about the service. I try not to judge a book by its cover and have seen all types come thru the local Culinary Institute of America, but we were brought up to respect others as we would respect ourselves, I should have guessed the standards at this location had lowered when the waitress staff come up to us with something hanging from her nose that looked like something a cow would wear, and the manager couldn't wear enough to cover up the tattoos, both very nice people to chat with and talk to about the situation but the nose ring was such a distraction I couldn't keep my order straight, because I kept thinking what if that falls into my food. I love going to diners that are dives and would expect to get this kind of service from a dive, but I go to a place like Applebee's to get something a little more upscale with a nice atmosphere, good service and good food. Well since we only got 2 out of 3 on this outing and uncertain if we'll be back I'm only giving a 2 star rating! read more

There was nothing spectacular about the food, it took a while and the portions were pretty small. One of the meals we ordered were more on the expensive side for Applebee's and it was really tiny. Not filling at all. We also didn't receive any ketchup in the bag and it was a little disappointing because one of the meals came with fries. I ordered the riblets with mashed potato's and they were fine. I wasn't super impressed and definitely had better. I picked mashed potatoes as my side and was given a really small serving. Everything was just significantly less than I've had at other locations. I guess I was somewhat disappointed with my experience here. We were really hungry and were hoping for a better experience. Always enjoyed this location, always seated without wait and have never had an issue with the drinks or food. Today upon arrival we were told the kitchen was backed up so there is a 1/2 hr wait. Once seated we waited for someone to take our drink order... 15 minutes later we are still waiting to be at least acknowledged. I totally understand if you're short staffed but someone, a waiter, the manager, someone should at least approach the table to acknowledge us and tell us someone will be right with us. When I saw a table across from us get seated after us and a waiter take their order right away I went back to the hostess and asked who our waiter was because we had been waiting 15 minutes for someone. She said she would send them over yet no one came over. Then a table behind us gets seated and a waitress walks up and takes their order. My family got up and left, on the way out I told the hostess we were leaving because 20 minutes had passed and no one even checked in with us. She apologized and told us to have a good night. Manager Antoinette is just miserable all the time never accommodating or even nice doesn't know her customers isn't friendly. Every time I've come here, there's been hair in the food, and didn't get what I asked for, multiple times in one visit. We ordered onion rings and Queso with chips as an appetizer. Onion rings had a mound of what looked like cat fur on them so we sent it back to get new ones. Queso was brought out as a side cup queso (tiny) instead of the appetizer. Entrees we're brought out immediately after the fur onion rings were sent back. When we asked for the desert menu our server told they were closed but "I guess we could make it for you if you want it." It was 8PM on a Friday, they usually close at midnight. We revisited this week- I don't care for 2 for $20, so I ordered the 6 ounce steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. We are a local family of 3, we stopped in for dinner after a visit to Home Depot. It was 630 and the place was as dead as a door nail. Immediately I was greeted by a very enthusiastic young hostess who was very determined to make sure I was welcomed. After the 5th or 6th ok thank you on the way too the table, sitting at the table and while eventually fiddling with my purse cell phone and keys to distract from how awkward it became. She finally left our menus and walked away. Our server was young and inexperienced but see I was ok. The food. Poor quality, I love salt and for me to say the fries we inedible is really something. Quesadilla burger was a sloppy squishy mess, wilted lettuce it just wasn't good. The server asked how it was, we were honest. The meal with drinks tip and appetizers was 70.00 and for that let's just say I've had better days afters eating Taco Bell! No bueno! Applebee's would be better off putting as much into their food quality as they do making employees drone like blank customer service zombies. This place should be investigated by the health department . After dining here last week ($95 bill i may add) i immediately started not feeling well. Knew it wasnt covid figured maybe i caught the "flu" nope neither! I ended up in the ER 3 days later after laying in bed with fever chills and vomiting on top of severe and i mean severe abdominal pain since that night. The other 3 people with me that night felt slightly sick after eating but none of them had a slightly compromised immune system like mine (im diabetic) after catscan MRI bloodwork ultrasound and a chest x ray they came to the conclusion that it was bacterial colitis from food contamination or salmonella poisoning! . I hadnt been anywhere else prior to getting sick and these kitchen workers lack of washing their hands after using the bathroom damn near killed me! Not to mention the food was undercooked so i barely ate the chicken and shrimp. I knew the shrimp tasted really salty but i didnt know something was wrong with it otherwise . This isnt the first time i got sick here i got sick a few years ago after eating a grilled chicken salad but nothing like this!!! At the very least an internal investigation should be done within the company and the health dept whom i will be contacting next needs to come do an inspection and make sure that things are properly refrigerated and handled properly . I will never ever walk into this establishment again. This is a long healing process on my inflamed intestines now and a sheer waste of $100 on food! They should be happy i didnt file a chargeback with my bank and be even more happy that i dont have time for law suits. What a disappointment. The first table we were shown to had juice and water spilled on it. On our way to the second table we ended up sticking to something on the carpet and the second table was just as dirty as the first one. Each time the hostess showed us to a table he would walk away without even checking to make sure the table was clean. We saw a server passing by and she told us to sit at the booth across from the table we were left at. We looked at the table and the mess was worse than the first two tables. We then turned around to leave the restaurant and that's when we noticed the segregated seating. I have gone to other Applebee's and never had this problem. This was my first and definitely my last trip to this Applebee's. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

Took a chance on the riblets aka charred carbonized meat on sharp bones. Nuff said? Dad was not impressed by them either: "adequate".
