Worst experience ever. As soon as we walked in the doors the staff was rude. The hostess barely even acknowledged us, just grabbed 2 menus and expected us to follow her. Then it took forever for our food to come to the table, it was very slow in there. Once it came, the waitress didn't say anything just set our plates down. My fiancees plate was extremely hot, she didn't say anything, he went to move it and burned himself. We said something to the waitress and she just goes "oh". Then the manager happened to be walking by so I told him, he didn't even offer an apology. I had asked for a refill on my drink....never got it. We go to Applebee's at least once a week in Indiana. This is by far the WORST dining experience that we've ever had We sat in the bar, 3 people. We received silverware and 2 waters pretty soon after sitting down. My husband ordered a beer. It was not delivered for over 20 minutes and the girl who 'served' it, just sat it down without any explanation. I ordered an appetizer of mozzarella sticks, well done. They brought them out and they were barely lukewarm. I ordered a grilled chicken ceasar salad with dressing on the side. When this was brought out, the chicken was barely warm, again. The server finally came over to ask and I explained everything. A 'manager' came to the table and I explained everything once again. And, of course, he offered a new appetizer and salad after my son was already halfway through his meal. He said 'we'll figure something out. ' I got up and walked out of the restaurant. My husband said the bill came and the 'manager' did NOTHING to rectify the situation. 3 other tables in the bar with this same server had issues. I think he needs to find a new line of work because he absolutely is the worst and same could be said for the 'manager'. Was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meal and the friendliness of the service. Went there for a birthday lunch with 4 others, one of the 4 meals were edible , the fettuccine noodle were stuck in big lumps , chicken strips were so dried out and fried cold. We never seen our waitress after we got our meal , they had 2 waitresses. App absolutely would not work so I had to come inside and I really didn't want to get out of my car at all. Ordered medium steak and substituted those delicious onion rings I had here before. I was charged 6 dollars extra to substitute 5 onion rings for potatoes. This time, the food was awful. Steak was well done and was certainly frozen, defrosted and heated up to room temperature. There was a literal child at the bar I am guessing that was his parents with him encouraging a 6 year old to introduce himself to a stranger (me) at a bar. I had purchased gift cards for Christmas gifts and had a problem with one of them. I stopped in and spoke with the waitress behind the bar and also the manager on duty. Katrina and her boss went above and beyond to make things right for me! I've always been very happy with their food and the great bonus cards when I purchase Christmas gift cards, but the customer service is also excellent! Horrible Service & Closes Early Despite Advertised Hours I came to the restaurant about 25 minutes before closing and they had already closed and locked the doors. I called to place an order thinking that they probably were doing takeout only but the guy Jerome said that they were already closed and then hung up the phone on me after I pointed out that they still had more than 20 minutes left. This is the second time I came here. The first time I came to this location I had witnessed them closing before their advertised business hours right after I had walked in. Some of the employees here don't want any business it seems. If they do this all the time to everyone then it's just only a matter time of time before they go out of business. read more

Stopped on a cold night for dinner, was about 29 degree outside. Arrived inside restaurant, was cold for sure had to leave coat on to keep warm a little before 8 pm. Steak knife arrived dirty, requested clean steak knife twice. If I we wanted gazpacho we would have order cold soup, sadly soup arrive cold and voiced food safety concern to staff to check temp on soup. Meals arrive, still no steak knife for steak. Requested refills on hot beverage, still no refill. 15 minutes passes and steak gets cold, no hot beverage refill, different server arrives asking if we want desert....hell NO. the food was.. okay, i guess. i asked the waitress to have the pizza cut in 8 for my son, and was informed that the cooks said they were "too busy". he has food issues and would not eat it. i had the manager take it back and try again. but unfortunately that did it for my son so he just ate brocolli. my silverware fell off my table (i couldn't see anything) and my waitress saw it happened and did nothing. i had to wait for another server to walk by. they seated me in a dark, dingy back corner and my blinds were broken so they couldn't get slid up so that i could read which was a huge bummer. i won't go again anytime soon. but the mozz sticks were good and one of the guys named alex was buzzing around and he was cool. read more

Waited 20 min for drinks then they b tells they are out of them. Then we wait over 35 min and get cold food and management trying to give every excuse for piss poor service. Ask for coca cola get pepsi and the waiter couldn't even say there was no coke just gave me nasty pepsi. I've seen busier places with fast and better service. Would not recommend Rapid city Applebee's not even to give your dogs. read more

Very good and cold beers and good food. But sitting at the bar is unbearable because of an overpowering smell of rotten, mouldering trash, either coming from a dirty rubber mat or carpet behind the bar or the plumbing of the sink, or a very dirty trash can. We could not enjoy the drinks or even order food because the smell was so bad. The bartender was great. This was the second time we noticed the bad smell. The first time was maybe six months ago, and this time was just last night. I wish they would clean it up as the place is better than such a bad odor portrays. read more

It was not pleasant circumstances that brought me to the Rapid City Applebee's and it was late and things were closing. I ordered 4 items and paid while I waited for my to go order. They were out of two of the items so I had to substitute something else. Then after those three items were ready the manager came out and said they were out of a third item. At that point I said forget it refund it you don't have anything I've ordered. He snapped at me we were only out of 1 thing..... correction buddy 3 out of 4 items is NOT acceptable or a good program. I wasn't the only person at the bar waiting on carry away that was having this problem. If your supply is that low close the doors and go home. read more

My daughter and I are both gluten free and even though they do not offer a GF menu the waitress, Cheyenne, did bring us out a list of their foods and what allergens it has. She even double checked to make sure that everything we ordered was without gluten. Of course eating at any restaurant you risk cross contamination but we did appreciate her going the extra step for us. Everything that our family ordered was served how we ordered it and Cheyenne made sure that we always had full beverages. read more

I got old yellow lettuce that an hour later started turning brown. Could see but a few noodles and had to hunt for the almonds. I was very disappointed with our food. I had the chicken strips with fries, meal was hot but the chicken was over cooked the breading was burnt and had a bad taste. My husband had the rib platter, which is his favorite wherever we go, they were all bones with very little meat. Normally, you can count on solid, consistent food from Applebee's...in my experience anyway. Lunch today was an epic fail. There were 4 of us. One meal, came out a good 10 minutes before the rest of the food. Then 2 more meals came out. One of them was cold, and we had asked for a side of ranch when the order was placed. The 4th meal, a salad came out, minus the bread stick. The salad, was mostly brown and discolored lettuce. It not only tasted bad, but looked bad. After several minutes, the lone bread stick arrived and ended up being the only edible part. The ranch...it came shortly before our check. At one point, the server asked how everything was, and I answered honestly...honest, but polite. There was no attempt to apologize or offer to prepare a new salad. Nothing! I get that it's hard to find people who want to work, but if the management continues to allow crap food to be served, people will stop coming, and the problem will be solved. As a tourist stopping through, this Applebee's by far had the worst service I've ever experienced. I would say most of the servers were horribly unprofessional and a few were passive aggressive to other customers, it didn't seem organized at all, and it could have been cleaner. The general manager should stop by more often and be a witness to the chaos. I have worked as a server in the past and I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS give servers the benefit of the doubt but it was just... awful. I hate to say it. Recently, this restaurant consistently provides very poor service, lack of food quality, and poor customer service. As a local who regularly visits local restaurants, plus travels several times a year, I understand great service and quality of food. The cook has consistently cooked my steak wrong. I order medium. One time it is very rare, the next time overdone and tasteless and hard like leather. When I ask for a redo, it takes a considerable amount of time with a weak apology. This evening a Native American family were seated and had their drinks as we were seated. We ordered our drinks, received them, ordered our entrée and received it. All this time, the native American family were still waiting for their orders. They noticed we were served a head of them, and called the waitress over. She gave a weak apology. After a while, the manager brought their food. He gave a weak apology. He did not offer them compensation for their very extended wait time. I called the waitress over because my steak was so tough and over cooked that I couldn't eat it. I waited at least 10-15 minutes while my family completed their meals. The manager brought the alternative steak, which was then cooked medium. He gave a weak apology. I then commented that the Native American family had waited a very long time to get served and I was suspicious of racial discrimination. He denied, said he apologized to them, and everyone should be happy. I said no- you owe them compensation for making them wait a very long time. He then gave me a rant that no one is perfect and that their restaurant wasn't either. That he travels to other restaurants and that no restaurant is perfect. He denied any responsibility to correct and compensate for their errors. Wow. Very poor service, lack of food quality, and poor customer service describes this restaurant. read more

I've been a server and You should always introduce yourself to your table. No matter how busy you are. Which it wasn't that busy at all when I went.
