My dad and I ordered Chicken Fajita Rollups, something I always order and am always pleased with. This time both of the Rollups had maybe four small pieces of chicken in each. The manager offered us 20% off of our meal. When we told him we were loyal customers, and had been for many years and had been through many bad experiences and a couple of managers, he very politely told us we were wrong. Applebees is a big company, so I understand it has corporate rules -- I work in a corporate restaurant, too. With that said, the food at this location is extremely mediocre, and my family and I discovered this evening that if they re-cook the food they do not take it off your bill...not to mention charging for a side of dressing -- again, corporate rule, I'm assuming. Neither here nor there, our server Pedro did a great job keeping up on refills and getting our food out in a timely matter, despite the fact 2-3/4 did not enjoy the meal. Service manager Joe was very nice and ended up giving us a little compensation for one of the meals after a brief discussion at the end of the meal. it's been a while since we ate at an applebee's. not familiar with any of the eating places in town, we thought we'd try applebee's, having had pleasant experiences there in other locations. we were SO happy with our menu selections. hubby had the crunchy shrimp and they were good. moist and tender and, yes, crunchy. fries were good. i had the wonton chicken tacos, which were absolutely delicious. the sauce, ingredients, were awesome. we were looking to have dessert, but the dessert options were pretty meager, so we passed. erica was our server, and she was on spot with my soda refills. read more

Consistently low end service with wait staff that seems to not be interested in their job, but more focused on personal activities, rather than getting your order right. Supervisors seem distracted and uninterested in improving customer satisfaction, couple that with less than adequate sanitary conditions make for a most disappointing experience. By far one of the worst experiences and food. Food was cold dry and inedible. The wait was super long and the wait staff was rude. You don't call the staff in the back of the house stupid and say everything is their fault. This is the first time I have never left a tip every. When you don't accept any responibilty for forgetting an item I asked for twice that showed up after the meal, no refills, flat out argued with us over are experience. They are very good, they have a big menu for big eaters. They have very good burgers like most Applebee's do. The mini ice cream shooters were very good so I think this place is a very good place to eat for any time of the day read more

This place is terrible! Myself and 8 of our friends went to have a great brunch together as we haven't seen each other in a very long time. 4 of us ordered the Four Cheese Mac and Cheese and Chicken Tenders, with the same result in each...the chicken 'tenders' were the size of gizzards at best. In fact, it seemed they were more breading then meat. The parsley was dumped in one pile on our plates. When we complained to the manager about our meal, he had no care or concern in our complaint. He simply told us that it was proportioned and looked like it was supposed to. So we opened the menu to the section in which he agreed the meal looked the same as the image, but it was far from. He dismissed us and said deal with it, without even an apology. In a customer service job, if nothing else, some sort of solution should have been offered. Either to refund the meal, add more chicken, or validate the inappropriate standard of the meal would've been respectable. I have never felt so disrespected in a restaurant in my entire life and definitely will never return to an Applebee's establishment if this is how they are training there managers to respond to their customers. While I'm not a fan of Applebee's to begin with, it was conveniently located across from our hotel. My salad was fine, chicken Caesar, hard to mess up. But my husband's ribs were supposed to be honey BBQ but were spicy BBQ. The waitress blew it off as that's just the way their ribs are. But that's not the real reason we weren't happy with the visit. We sort of know what to expect from Applebee's so that wasn't the disappointing point. The real problem was the service. We were seated right away but then was left and forgotten. It was close to 9:00 when we got there so they weren't that busy. But no one even approached us. Numerous employees walked past us & didn't acknowledge us. Finally my husband got up and asked a young girl if she could send over a waitress. Even then we waited. While she was friendly, she sure didn't knock herself out to provide any service. Someone else delivered the food & she never asked once if we wanted a refill on our drinks or a second margarita. I can't remember being as ignored at a restaurant as we were here. While we will never be back in Spearfish, the experience just cemented my opinion of the Applebee chain. read more

We dinned at this Applebee's May 8. We arrived around 5:30 PM. The staff was very nice. Our waitress was very good. We waited for our meal longer than usual but not too long. When our meals arrived they looked like they sat somewhere for a long time. The food was lukewarm and looked very sad. IE. flat and old. The appearance and the temperature of the food was unacceptable. My wife was sick that evening but not sure if it was the food that did that to her. We will not be dinning here again. I have visited this location many times and the food and service have been excellent. I made a recent visit for lunch with a friend for lunch, and all seemed to be good. The service was great, However I ordered their fish and chips and it seemed to be ok, but about three hours later the stomach gurgles started and ended up with a mild case of food poisoning! This could have been the tarter sauce or the fish. Too bad. I do think this is an isolated case, but I hope that they do a little to improve the kitchen QC program. read more

I went out to eat with my boyfriend today and we were taken to our table and sat there waiting for our waitress for 10-15 minutes. Our waitress finally came and got our drink orders and it took her much longer than normal to actually get the drinks to us. She got us our drinks after about 15 minutes and then asked us what we wanted to eat. We told her we'd like to share the unlimited chicken strip deal. She told us we weren't allowed to share it. So we asked her for a few more minutes and she came back after about 10 and we ordered our food. We waited about 30 minutes for our food. She also brought the appetizer we ordered out with the meal. We overheard one of her tables asking for a box and she said that she can't give people boxes for reorders. We were very confused about all the things you can't do at Applebee's, I didn't know there was rules for what you can order and takeout if you're the one buying it. She got us our bill and we put down the money and it took her about 15 minutes to come get it, I was about ready to ask the closest waitress to me to get me change. We were planning on going ice skating before we had to head to a party but never had time because we were at Applebee's way too long. Food was very good but a little cold. read more

I usually enjoy myself here. But I went today for dinner and had a terrible experience. I don't usually complain too much or leave bad reviews, but this experience was just too much to ignore. My server was drunk. He flat out told my sister and I that he was drunk and he didn't "give a f***" because it was his last week and Applebees doesn't treat him right, etc. etc. He was acting ridiculous. Sitting at our table to chat (before introducing himself or taking our drink order) he knocked down stuff that was on the table. He kept telling us he will be serving at another local restaurant here soon and that we should go there and not Applebees. One of the hostesses noticed we were uncomfortable and moved us to a new table across the restaurant. When a manager came out, I told her he was drunk and that he was cursing in front of us and other costumers and she just kind of "rolled her eyes" and said "he isn't really drunk" and reassured us that he was going home for the night (not being fired). And then a little while later we saw him still waiting the table he had shortly before we got there. He should have been escorted off the property immediately and fired immediately. I felt offended by this server (I did catch his name and intend on calling the owner tomorrow morning) and I also felt offended by the manager. Not once did she tell us she was sorry for everything and she never tried to make it right in any way. My sister and I shared an appetizer and then we both ordered a small cup of soup and a side salad. It took (I kid you not) 2 hours to get our food. The hostess that moved us to a new section did apologize and then when we left the hostess holding the door open apologized and stressed the fact that she hope it didn't affect our decision to come back. We will not be returning for a long while. Very disappointed because I do (did) love this place. read more

We ordered 2 burgers both well done. Both came out raw dripping with blood. Server was very polite, he didn't cook the food. We didn't blame him for this mistake. I felt bad for him because servers get paid less than the cook who messed the order up big time. Server got the manager and he says, "I understand you have a problem over here?" We told him we ordered our food well done and its raw. He said he was sorry and said, "don't worry, dinners on me." I'm not sure if I am mad at the cook who doesn't know the difference between raw and well done or the manager who actually thought we were going to pay for something like that. We told him that was okay, we didnt want the food and wanted to leave. He offered us gift cards for a future visit and we declined. This is the 3rd time we have gone to an Applebee's and been disappointed and the last. This is also the first time we have left a review for any of the Applebee's. Going to have to stick to the other chains and not get out of our comfort zone. Should have went to Texas Roadhouse up the street to begin with. read more

Worst dinning experience in a long time. Started by ordering a Windsor coke, I was told they were out of Windsor so I switched it to rum and coke, couldn't detect any rum in the coke. The salad was mediocre, the dressing tasted like I came from Safeway. I ordered sirloin with shrimp, medium well, the steak was bloody, the shrimp were tiny salad shrimp and the baked potato was hard as a rock. I asked for a different potato, it was as bad as the first one. I tried to eat the raw steak but couldn't chew it, When my wife complained that her steak and cold cooked vegetables were soggy we were told they pour French onion soup over that dish. The waitress kept telling us how sorry she was. We decided to leave and go get something to eat. After I had paid almost fifty dollars for this mess my wife noticed we had been charged for the Windsor coke they didn't have, the waitress again apologized. We left without getting a refund, we were hungry and wanted to go somewhere to eat. I would never recommend this place to anyone. read more
