This place was busy on a Friday night! Luckily I did take out and my food was done right on time as predicted. The food was good overall as Texas Roadhouse is one of my favorites.

I must say the staff was amazing, we had a new waitress but she did an amazing job. Our order wasn't perfect but the manager Sarah made it right, I will definitely come back.

PROS: - First and foremost, our server James was amazing! This man is the epitome of great customer service! - Plenty of parking in this area. - We were seated immediately upon entering the restaurant. - Being the only Asians in the restaurant, we got a few stares, but the employees, especially James, made us feel like we were home. - The bread rolls along with the apple butter here are to die for. The bread is so squishy, soft, and moist. - James checked on us multiple times to make sure we had everything we need. - The rib-eye was pretty good, seasoned perfectly, and cooked a nice medium rare. - The seasoned rice was also fantastic along with the salad. - The cactus onion blossom was delicious! - The prices are VERY fair for what you get. CONS: - None

    Yum Yum!!! Eat em up!!

First time eating at Rapid City SD, Texas Roadhouse 5/9/25. They did not disappoint. Rolls and butter were perfect. That's right, two baskets full! The waitress, Lilja M., was phenomenal!!! Super attentive and didn't ask questions when our mouths were full, refilled drinks and brought extra ice. Great smile! She made the experience top notch! The steaks were mouth watering; prime rib; med-rare, 20oz bone-in ribeye; med-rare, and NY strip; med-well. Compliments to the chef! 5 stars for this trip, only because there aren't 6.

** Absolutely Delicious!**…read more This was easily one of the highlights of our trip to South Dakota. The food was absolutely delicious, and every dish we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and clearly prepared with care. What really says it all is that this was my wife's favorite restaurant of the entire trip. After several days of dining around the area, this was the place she kept talking about and comparing everything else to. The atmosphere was welcoming, the service was friendly, and the overall experience was excellent from start to finish. We left happy, full, and already wishing we could come back. If you're in the area and looking for a great meal, I highly recommend giving this place a try. We will definitely stop by again the next time we're in South Dakota.

We were later met with a 1/3" thick cut that was medium well (to be fair, it's difficult to assess doneness as the steaks really weren't thick enough to have a distinct center). It genuinely confuses me why these steaks weren't caught at the pass. Also worth noting, Delmonico doesn't have cocktail service. The beer list was your typical "six random crafts, plus Budweiser." I would like to have seen a few more options. The wine list seemed...fine. The sides were decent, and each would be enough for two. The brussels sprouts to start were tasty, and the highlight of the meal. But the steak. oof. I would very much not go back.

Ooh, it's not often that I disagree with Yelp ratings, but something weird is going on with Sear…read more We were promptly seated (even though we were 5 minutes late for our reservation), in a half-filled dining area at 6:30 pm on a Wednesday. Our waiter promptly dropped off menus, but after my wife was undecided on what to order, he left and we didn't see him again for 15 minutes. He was a nice guy, but the staffing level was inadequate for the light traffic. When it came time to order our meals, we were informed that they didn't have their regular carrot or French onion soups, as well as two entrees. As we ordered, he informed us of a 3rd entree that was unavailable. After we ordered, his manager returned to inform us that two of the entrees we had ordered weren't available! I (sulkily) ordered the salmon and a house salad. Now, the house salad is a big bowl of iceberg lettuce with a few radishes, cherry tomatoes and onions. My wife didn't even bother to taste it, and I only ate a third of it. Our entrees were well prepared and nicely presented, but our waiter wasn't able to find his way back to refresh our drinks. After an elongated, two-hour dinner, I was left thoroughly unimpressed. There is something going on here, and my guess is that they are struggling to find staff, pay their suppliers, and maintain quality. I certainly didn't share the experience of other recent reviewers. My suggestion is that you wait for a handful of positive reviews before visiting.

The thyme mocktail was crisp…read moreand refreshing, and my husband's old-fashioned was fragrant and well-balanced, complete with a perfect bada bing cherry. His only note was a preference for a single large ice cube rather than crushed, but overall the bar clearly knows what it's doing. The appetizers set a great tone. Warm sourdough was fresh and comforting. I enjoyed the bright, crisp house salad, while my husband's pumpkin soup was silky, savory, and perfectly seasonal. We both ordered the 7-ounce filet mignon, and the kitchen truly delivered! His medium-rare was tender and juicy with a beautiful sear, and my medium-well was still succulent--proof of precise cooking. They have an outstanding variety of cool, reasonably priced side dishes. My husband was excited about the Queen's honey carrots which were tender and flavorful (though the honey glaze was very subtle) and the creamy mashed potatoes that are part of the steak dish, were nicely executed. I didn't realize my filet came with mashed potatoes underneath, so I ordered a loaded, baked potato as my side, and ended up with extra potato (which I'm not complaining about whatsoever lol). We also enjoyed the whiskey cream sauce with mushrooms, which added a gentle smoky creamy richness, and the onion soubise, which was pure sweet comfort. Dessert was a highlight, as we celebrated my husband's birthday - we ordered all three featured desserts: The crème brûlée had a perfectly crackled top and smooth vanilla bean custard, the flourless chocolate dessert was deeply rich with espresso notes, and the butter cake was the total star - warm, moist, and decadently buttery. Each dessert was excellent in its own way, but that perfectly sinful butter cake stole the show! The atmosphere was inviting--warm wood tones, comfortable booths, well-balanced lighting, and enough TVs near the bar to keep my sports fan husband happy. Service was friendly and pleasant, though we found ourselves wishing for a bit more attentiveness. With a very quiet dining room, very early in the evening (we had a 4 PM reservation), there were moments when water refills lagged and opportunities for wine suggestions went unoffered (and we were definitely wanting to order some red with our steaks, but gave up because by the time there was an opportunity, we were finished with our steaks). We also briefly looked into the small private dining room on our way through the bar, and while we were greeted politely by one of the employees who was sitting in there, it felt like they missed the perfect opportunity to highlight the space for potential events. That said, nothing detracted significantly from the experience--it was simply a matter of polish. A touch more proactive engagement could elevate an already strong offering into something exceptional. Overall, Sear Steakhouse delivered an enjoyable and memorable evening. The food, drinks, and desserts are clearly strengths, and with just a little added focus on service flow and guest engagement, this restaurant has all the makings of a true standout in Rapid City. We look forward to returning and trying new things!

Unfortunately, it turned into one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences we've had. The evening started with a confusing interaction with the hostess, who walked away from us and then acted as though she had already told us to follow her. Our server, Sig, made things worse. We were a party of six, including our family friend's mother, who has ALS, and his attitude was abrasive, argumentative, and anything but welcoming. When my wife ordered the roasted chicken, he responded, "You ordered the worst thing on the menu." That's simply not how guests should be treated. I ordered the $72 Tatanka Filet, medium, but it arrived well done. When I pointed it out, the explanation I received was that "toward the end of the night the grill is hot." At that price, I expected an apology and an offer to correct it, not an excuse. Even at the end of the meal, the service remained poor. When we asked for to-go boxes, Sig reached across the table and passed them directly in front of our faces instead of handing them to us courteously. Everyone can have an off night, but what disappointed us most was that no one acknowledged the issues or attempted to make things right. For a restaurant with Dakota Steakhouse's reputation and prices, we expected excellent hospitality. Instead, we left feeling unwelcome and disappointed. Unfortunately, we would not return or recommend it based on this experience.

This is very much a diner style restaurant in the very best sense of the word, "DINER." The night I dined here, it was somewhat after the usual dinner rush, so the crowds were gone and the hostess led me to a corner booth near the back of the restaurant and handed me a menu. Like many diners you may have eaten at, the menu at COLONIAL HOUSE is huge. As I get older, huge menus are becoming more intimidating because they offer a large volume of selections that you have to choose from while a server is waiting (sometimes not all that patiently). That having been said, there is enough variety on the menu here that if you can't find something you'd like, you are probably a very picky eater. One surprise and also an intimidating one was the humongous portions that are delivered when your plate arrives. I knew immediately that I would not be able to finish the meal and resolved not to try and ask for a take-out box once I ate what I could finish. My dinner (what I managed to eat was excellent) and the server had no problem providing me with a take-out box. The food kept well in my hotel's room fridge and reheated well the next day for lunch. The baked products at COLONIAL HOUSE were a feast for the eyes and I ordered a piece of strawberry shortcake to take with me back to my hotel. Mouthwatering delight! If you are visiting Rapid City and want to completely SKIP over the far too numerous chain restaurants in the area and get far better food brought to you by servers who actually seem to like their jobs and the reputation of their employer, look no further than COLONIAL HOUSE. Just make sure you come with a completely empty stomach and a big appetite.
