Last I reviewed Applebee's here I wasn't very pleased with the promo they had ... but since that two years ago, Applebee's has really turned things around and now I'm a big fan of Applebee's at all their locations. What did it is their new meal deal offerings, like this "Really Big Meal Deal" for $9.99 that includes a big 1/2 pound bacon cheeseburger and fries and a drink. Also, I'm a bug fan of the 1/2 off happy hour appetizers offered from 3 pm till 6 pm everyday including weekends. This Red Bluff location was closed for a while for construction where someone got the bright idea to combine an IHOP and Applebee's together. So this place opens at like 6am now for breakfast, I guess on the IHOP side. I'm not a fan of IHOP, so I'm sticking to Applebee's. The "Really Big Meal Deal" for $9.99 isn't really promoted on the menu, so you have to ask for it. I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger, extra onions and tomato (no charge) along with friend and a strawberry lemonade. It was after 3 pm, so I ordered some onion rings on the happy hour 1/2 off. Hey a big platter of onion rings for less than $5.00, that's a deal! The food came out all nice and hot, by the friendly server. Service was friendly and competent, so that's good. The onion rings are the cornmeal coated kind, more crunchy than the puffy battered type. I like them both! The burger has plenty of bacon, tomato and lettuce. Cooked perfect, you order it "pink" here. I gotta say this is a big improvement for this Red Bluff location of Applebee's. At least I didn't see any people sitting around outside with ankle monitors on like last time! read more

Went Sunday night (05/31) and our server was great! She was very attentive and friendly. Everything appeared very clean and spotless Appetizers were delicious The downside was that 2 of our Trio Chicken Penne Pastas tasted terrible. The sauce lacked flavor and the pasta was incredibly overcooked, it was "gummy" and gelatinous. I really didn't want to take the leftovers home. And then the quesadilla burger that was ordered also was not great. The pastas were brought out first because they accidentally forgot modifications to the burger and had to start over. It was very obvious that they just rushed to cook the burger and get it out. Also wasn't a fan of the small gnat thing that landed on our wings. Shame I spent $100+ on this meal read more

We really wanted this restaurant to succeed in Red Bluff, but after giving it several chances, our experiences kept getting worse and worse. When this location first reopened as Applebee's/IHOP, we were excited to have it back in town. Our first visit was great. The food and service were excellent and we left thinking it was a great addition to the area. Unfortunately, things went downhill after that. On our second visit the service was still good, but the food was just so-so. The third time we came in, I ordered a margarita that was nearly undrinkable. I had to wait quite a while to speak with a manager, who asked if I wanted another drink or if I wanted to pay for the one I had already taken two sips of. I asked for a refund and requested water instead. The water was brought out, but I was still charged for the margarita until I asked the server to correct it. Our most recent visit was the worst. We waited about 30 minutes just for drinks (one beer, one cider, and a kids soda) I will say that she compensated my cider but and also gave me a free one just for the wait due to both kegs needing replaced. We waited over an hour and a half for our food. During that time we repeatedly asked for saltine crackers for our seven year old who was hungry just to hold him over until his meal arrived, but they never came. To make matters more frustrating, several tables that were seated 30 to 40 minutes after us received their food before we did. When we asked about the delay, we were told the kitchen cooks pancakes first, then chicken, then steak. Ironically, my son ordered pancakes and bacon. When the food finally arrived, it was disappointing. My steak was lukewarm and full of fat and gristle. After a few bites I couldn't eat it. The mashed potatoes were cold, and while the broccoli tasted good it was undercooked. The rest of our table had similar complaints. Between the five of us, the total bill came out to about $110. Four of the meals were from the 2 for $25 deal with add-ons, and my portion of the bill for three people was around $60. In the amount of time it took for the food to arrive, we honestly could have cooked better meals at home. read more

Food was good for the price. Service was fast. Looks like a typical Applebees. Overall I've eaten here a few times and it's on par with all the other Applebees. 3.5 stars $21.89 Riblets platter. Riblets tasted good. Actually got 5 pieces. Fries didn't need any sauce and tasted seasoned. Garlic green beans had a lot of flavor and is on the softer side. read more

Our server, Codi (Cody?) was great. So friendly & accommodating. She was prompt & thorough, remembered everything we asked for. Definitely a great review for her. However, our food was average. One of us usually orders the ribs, and they have always been tender & delicious. But this time, not so much. They were overcooked and dry. The sauce was great on them, but thats about it. I was bummed cuz I love their ribs. Will reconsider ordering them next time here at this location. read more

We had been curious ever since our Apple Bee's transitioned into a jointly operated IHOP. My brother ordered the IHOP food while we ordered from the Apple Bee's menu. The food was delicious and freshly prepared. The service was as usual, which is to say not good. I think that they are chronically understaffed both in the kitchen, at the bar, and the wait staff as well. We ordered the new Ultimate Trio. You choose 3 appetizers from a mouthwatering selection of 10 and pair them with 3 irresistible dipping sauces. With endless combinations, every bite is a new adventure! We ordered; the brew pretzels, chicken won ton tacos, and crunchy onion rings. The three sauces were ordered were; the sweet chili, beer cheese, and honey mustard. I ordered this delicious Cajun shrimp and sausage bowl, my brother ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast combo and had one order of the never ending pancakes. I've been to Applebee's before, but I hadn't ever been to the one in Red Bluff. Passed by it when I was in the area, until finally I made the decision to have lunch there one day. The inside was nothing different from that of the typical Applebee's. The décor's roughly the same for them all since it's a chain. That being said, not all restaurants are created equal. Inside it was clean and the sun was shining through the windows - enhanced the atmosphere - when I arrived. I was seated in a booth, which had been requested. Shortly after sitting down, my waitress arrived and took my drink order. A little later, she delivered my soft drink and asked if I was ready to order. I was feeling hungry, so I ordered the chicken strips and hamburger, and a salad. It was part of their 2 for $26 deal. The food came out fast and it was excellent. It sounds a little strange, but I love a good salad. The salad I got was fresh, crunchy and delicious. And the entrées were equally as good. Who doesn't like chicken strips? And I found theirs to be better than those I've ordered at other restaurants. Hamburger was a slightly better than ones I've had at other restaurants. All in all, it was a fun and worthwhile experience. With these chain restaurants, it's often a hit or miss, but it wasn't that time around. read more

Jordan was AMAZING!! Immediately put in a drink order for us, not even five minutes later he came over and put our food order in. He was constantly checking in on us making sure we were doing okay and seeing if we would like anything else. The food tasted wonderful and was presented beautifully. Waited 40 mins for my carside pickup behind three other cars. Ended up having to go inside to retrieve my order instead. Food ended up barely warm. Seems it was done and ready way before but not brought out. At least two of the other cars also had to go inside to retrieve their orders. It defeats the purpose of offering a carside pickup if you end up having to essentially do an inside pickup. read more

I just want to say, they do the chicken salad is different from other Applebee's. They use crispy noodles, pieces of crispy chicken (instead of grilled) and almonds. I like this salad better than at the other apple bees. Also the hot plate shrimp and chicken was actually sizzling when it was set on our table. I know because I was at the Applebee's in Redding yesterday night and ordered these two same items on the menu. It was an Apple bees learning moment, that they get to 'exercise' some autonomy as a franchise. Can I give myself an Applebee's inspector badge yet? lol read more

I've lived near red bluff for 12 years and have only stopped in here two times because of the bad reviews. I was skeptical but gave it a try and the first visit was great, great service and food and the second visit last week was also a great experience! Sam the man was our waiter and he was exceptional, he was great at recommending things to try and checking back in on us! I went there yesterday, the service was great. The steak was over cooked. I decided not to complain. But after I got back to work. I had to leave customers hanging as my stomach was in turmoil. I work in a very customer service oriented job and just to leave them hanging while I had to rush to the restroom. Had to run to the bathroom several times for the next few hours. Horrible cramps. Continued till the evening. Got home took antidiarrhea pills. Still had cramps for a bit. So disappointed just wanted a nice relaxing lunch. read more

Our dinner last night made us all sick today. Not only did my husband have to sit and wait 40 minutes after the time he arrived for our take out order, but the food was absolutely disgusting. We may have taken a bite and a half of our food each and ended up throwing the entire order out. The pictures speak for themselves. The meat was ordered no pink, and not only was it pink it was nearly still raw. The onion was just a tiny little piece, the tomato... was not ripe and was disgusting. My husband's mushroom burger was not supposed to have that pepper sauce and It did and we ordered extra mushrooms and it hardly had any. We both woke up this morning complaining about painful issues and by this evening, we have both been ill in the bathroom. I'll be reaching out to their regional manager and to corporate. Saw kona big wave on the menu, but they don't have it, ended up with a blue moon, not a disaster. Haven't been to Applebee's in probably 20 years, so wasn't sure what to get. Wasn't my first choice of places, but it's 97 outside and it was across the street from my hotel. Wanted to have a drink, so no driving. Service was good up front, we'll see when food comes out. Bourbon street steak, med rare, and they let me substitute vegetables for mashed potatoes. Not a fan of mashed potatoes, so happy with that, once again, we'll see when it comes out. Ok, the steak was cooked perfectly, but the meat quality was not the best, but not terrible. The sauce was salty, not inedibly so, but had some nice flavor. The mushrooms were good, a little heavy on the butter, but that's not a bad thing. The broccoli was not quite mush, but it was close. The bartender is allowed to make real drinks, so I am having a Martini. read more

Well I got say we went in on the night of 1/27/25 with 7 people sat down ordered our drinks as we were waiting on the last person to show up non alcohol drinks were brought in 3-4 minutes the three long islands took about 6 minutes with a full bar ordered appetizers and they came out in about 10 minutes then ordered our main course and it only took 20 minutes all in all food was great as always and I will have to say the service I received here tonight was the best service I have ever had at this place so who ever was working this night is a perfect example of how a place should be ran thanks for the great service read more

We always stop at this Applebees because it's right off the freeway coming down I-5. The food was great as usual. Bourbon St. steaks with all the fix'ins, and an oreo shake. I guess the kitchen got busy cause the kitchen manager..Kelly? came to deliver our food. She was awesome! Anyway, thanks for another good experience. I used to love Applebee's. I just know not to go to the one in red bluff anymore. If you want to spend 2 hours sitting there waiting for wings to come out then sure, I recommend it. One of the worst experiences at a restaurant in my life. The waitress stood at the table next to me and talked 90 percent of the time I was there. Waited over 10 minutes for a refill on my drink. Haven't been a big fan of Applebee's for a long time. They are always a decent place for drinks and appetizers but the food is always sub par. That was the same impression we got from this location. I ordered a steak and it was over cooked. My gf ordered a 3 cheese chicken pasta and it was so dry we didn't even think it had sauce on it. Her son got a burgerand fries off the regular menu and it looked like it came from the kids menue. Another group next to us mentioned how they didn't like their food and the manager came and spoke with them for what felt like forever. It wasn't worth the trouble mentioning. I brought this to the managers attention and she assured me they were correct. But was kind enough to offer me "extra" beer cheese. Years ago (5-10+), this was the place to go. Why? The bartender Samantha, as well as some of the older staff and cooks. We remember traveling through quarterly and looking forward to seeing the 'regulars' at the bar. They brought food in on a special night to say "thank you" to the cooks and staff! We were besides ourselves. (That BBQ is some of the best we've tasted, thank you). They were great to talk to, helped out with repairs (even during business ours IN the bar area) to make sure it ran seamlessly. The service on the floor was so bad, some of the regulars helped out to get us items/clean our table. This is why we sat AT the bar. At least IN the bar area IF Samantha would serve our table. The regulars would get up and give us their seats saying, "no, we are hear a lot, i'll stand." Amazing. Thank you. Samantha always had a smile, can multitask like NO other and was a crucial link to that business. Even as the food continued to go down hill, the bar was packed. We stopped eating there, would get food elsewhere then come to see her and the regulars. My wife met her once on a busy night and was amazed with her abilities. (She's a restaurant consultant/staff/mixologist trainer). When Samantha was fired, that place (predictably) hit rock bottom. To the individual that made that decision, those that did not have the backbone to fight for her to stay and to Joe Wong: You are Poorly Business minded. BIG mistake. We swung by a few days ago to see (if by chance) she made it back. We were greeted with, "what do you need." We turned and walked out. Are there any Real Bartenders in Red Bluff? You have lost an estimated $12,000 a year from our staff rotating through and visiting Applebees. We spread the word to the crew and have chosen other places to go to. You will need massive luck in finding a bartender that can be half of what Samantha is. But, with the way you allow your staff to be treated, we are amazed that place is still open. We hope Samantha is doing well and has moved up to a better place where she can be appreciated. No one deserves to work in a place that has poor bathrooms, food, staff and most of all the owner. read more
