Around 4:30pm I tried to sit down with my service dog at a table outside at this Applebee's Grill + Bar location. I showed my service dog's registered license, but the manager told me that they would not provide service to me if my dog did not have a vest...you know...the vests that you can buy on Amazon. She's clearly not the smartest, so she's lucky I'm not filing charges. 0/10 do not recommend this location. I had a REALLY good experience here last night with my fiancé. You can't go wrong with the 2 for $20 deal here. We had a very nice woman as our server and the restaurant was pretty busy. However, she was attentive to our needs and very nice to us! We got their wings with the Asian Chile sauce. Always my favorite: sweet but with that yummy signature "Asian" hot sauce. I ordered the firecracker shrimp cavatappi! SO GOOD. The sauce wasn't like Mac and cheese which surprised me in a good way: it had almost a teriyaki flavor but also with veggies and lime taste! Really good. Also, the shrimp was super crispy! Loved it. My fiancé ordered the caprese burger, which is new. It was cooked medium rare, which is how he ordered it, and pretty good! Just returned from early dinner (late lunch) with my hubby and I am happy to say this Applebee's is doing great. Last visit was Pre-pandemic so coming back now we didn't know what to expect. Well let me tell you, we got seated right away and our server Ms Arielle was fantastic. She made us feel so welcome and her service was top notch. Also the food was on point. My husband steak was cooked to perfection and melted in our mouth (because of course I stole some of his food). Onion rings were super crispy, my chicken tenders were great and so was the mash. I went to this location earlier today with my boyfriend. We got a bunch of appetizers including chicken wonton tacos, Asian chili and buffalo boneless chicken bites and mozzarella sticks. After eating the appetizers we started having severe stomach pain. We both feel terrible and have nausea and diarrhea. READ ME!!! I have learned some information I think other people should know haha. Recently became friends with someone who used to work here. They said they enjoyed working there etc, but happened to divulge some pretty DISGUSTING information about the place. Have you ever seen the movie "Waiting.." ? According to my friend, and ex employee, this Applebees is a mirror of that movie.... What I'm saying is. If your order is extra difficult, or if you give the staff any problems at all (complaining about your food, etc) they will mess with the food you order. For example: apparently one time a table was being difficult, being very specific with their orders and a bit snippy to the waiter. So what this annoyed waiter did was took the ginger ale soda they ordered, and before giving it to the table, snuck it to the restroom and literally urinated a bit in the cup. Disgusting right? And my friend, ex employee, said this stuff happened ALL the time at this Applebees. I don't think I need to explain any other incidents, but my friend told me a bunch of things the staff here does regularly if you annoy them at all with your service. I came here after Outlet shopping without much expectations, as this is a chain restaurant. However, the service was EXCEPTIONALLY bad. When we asked our waitress if the appetizers were half off, she looked at us, rolled her eyes and said, "Uh, that's why everybody's here." (I KID YOU NOT) Pointing to the people sitting in the restaurant. She took our orders after repeating them and came back with boneless instead of bone in wings. We politely pointed out that she had gotten our order wrong and she admitted it, "Yes, I'll take this back and have them make you bone in wings." 20 minutes later, after we had already finished our meal and the wings were still not up, we asked to cancel the order and get the check instead. "Well, I already put it in the system. I can pack the wings for you in the back and you can take it to go." she responded matter of factly. The look she gave us was as if she just didn't want to be there. She came back 10 minutes later with our wings without an apology whatsoever for making us wait so long. I have never paid a bill without tipping and this was my first. Applebees shouldn't hire teenagers. The service was terrible and we got a stuck up teenage waitress with an attitude. my family friends and i went to this applebee's on father's day. surprisingly the wait wasn't that long (about 5-7 minutes) for being so busy. when we sat down there was ice on the booth therefore the seats were wet. our waitress was very nice and interactive with us (making jokes, etc.) which was very appreciated. the food came fairly quick but there was one BIG issue..THERE WAS A HAIR IN ONE OF THE BURGERS! thankfully they took the charge of the burger off the bill which was very kind but that doesn't excuse it. my burger was not cooked medium rare either. overall i could definitely say we will not be returning to this applebee's location due to the given circumstances. read more

I really wish people wouldn't give this restaurant 4 stars for a couple reasons 1) The food isn't good. It's decent if you're starving...and everywhere else is closed but that's it. It's a gross chain full of salty frozen food. A friend of mine found a piece of plastic in her nachos and another friend found a piece of frozen bacon in his ice cream (talk about the epitome of salty and frozen). 2) This is one of the first places in Riverhead that destroyed local restaurants and it's really sad. I know I'm at fault for this because in High School Applebee's was the spot but I was 16..... Please just drive in to town and try to support the amazing local business that are struggling to survive there. Both your stomach and your conscious will thank you. read more

Well, I just came to eat here because I was shopping at Tangers but the food court there is horrible. For lunch, this place was fairly busy but we got a table. The waiters are on top of their game and very helpful. The food itself is pretty good for the price; especially the 2 for 20 meal. The boneless bbq wings are awesome appetizers. The 7 oz steak tasted like charcoal but I asked for medium well. Overall, this place is a great restaurant to eat at around the neighborhood. read more

First experience at an Applebees that I found worthy to share. My husband and I stopped in here on Saturday morning before heading to the outlets and neither of us have been to this location before. The experience eating here is like being a lab rat in a marketing research laboratory. The table has a HUGE display at one end with 10 or more slots with marketing cards stacked in them with deals and specials. The table also has some electronic display on a movable stand that is partly used to display even more deals and specials...but ultimately to entice youngsters to play video games....for which the parents will have to pay an additional fee. Add to all of this the parrot like marketing ploys that come out of the waitresses who offer specials.... and you have a marketing card at the end of the table that says if they don't offer the specials........ you get a free appetizer. Instead of just having a nice place to relax and enjoy your families comfort and food... you really feel assaulted by it all. The food was good...standard applebees fare. I had a terrible experience with a bar tender here. I drove a group of my friends here for drinks and one friend bought the entire bar a round. He must have spent close to $400 that night. Since I was the designated driver, I did not have any drinks, and instead I had something to eat at the bar. The bartender kept giving me dirty looks and eventually made a comment about how I was "taking up space at her bar" by not ordering anything to drink. Meanwhile, my friend had just bought the place a round. I asked to speak with the manager and he told me that I shouldn't be sitting at the bar if I was just going to eat. Absolutely terrible service. Sat at the bar just after 8pm. Waitress took our drink order and said she would be back in a minute so we could look over the menu and take our food order. Half hour later after holding empty glasses for 10 minutes a second waitress came over and asked if she could get us the check. She barely even made eye contact let alone acknowledged I was trying to talk to her about how we had been waiting for nearly a half hour to have our food order taken. She came back 5 or so minutes later with the check and walked away before I could even say thank you for the check! There were 8 people at the bar, two occupied tables, and three bartenders!!!! The male bartender never even looked out way. We had been there about two weeks prior on a Friday night and had poor service with the same waitress, I chalked it up to a busy bar. The service at the bar was very poor. When you ordered food the bartenders did not give you a place setting. We had to ask for napkins & flatware. Flatware, mugs & glasses were sticky (as if not washed & sterilized properly. The food had way to much pepper & not enough salt. My dinner went back, it was totally inedible. Well I had to put one star but I wanted to put 0. THE MANAGER IS EXTREMELY RUDE AND PSYCHO. I never met someone so miserable and mean to customers. I went here with my sisters to order a late night dinner and a couple of drinks. She told us we couldn't order ANY drinks and then called the cops on us and the cops laughed outside about how ridiculous this was. The cop said she called and made it seem like something really bad happened. Not only did she waste her own time but she wasted 3 cops time when there could of been a REAL emergency. She said we were drunk and that she can't serve us any drinks hahaha. We were COMPLETELY sober and wanted to have a night out. A terrible dining experience not likely to be forgotten anytime soon. We arrived around 6:30pm to celebrate a birthday. We were told there would be half an hour wait since there were 8 of us so we waited. After more than that wait time a manager inquired why we still hadn't been seated. We were all stuffed into a corner booth. Most uncomfortable seating ever. That booth had been empty since we arrived and only because the greeter was questioned then they decided that was a place to sit 6 adults and 2 children. At this point I was so angry at the situation I couldn't even enjoy my meal. If you can't handle large parties then don't but this was totally unacceptable. Shame on you Applebee's .
