I used to really like this Applebee's. For a chain, the prices were fair, the food was decent, and it was an easy go-to spot. Then COVID hit... and things definitely changed. Prices have gone way up, but the food hasn't followed. It feels more like reheated, frozen meals now, and it's hard to justify what you're paying for what you get. On top of that, wait times have gotten pretty long, even when it doesn't seem overly busy. That said... I never thought I'd complain about this, but the drinks are so strong I almost forget what I came there to review Not necessarily a bad problem to have, but it's about the only thing that still stands out. Was out running errands for the Holiday and was not looking forward to going home to cook. Was dying for potato skins and thought I might be able to get some skins at Applebee's. Sadly no potato skins but we did get there for half priced appetizers and opted for an app dinner. Food was not memorable and mediocre at best but what made the experience so great was our waitress. I really don't understand why the food is so bad. We ordered the new cheese bites and they were so gross, we took them home and my 11 year old, who loves cheese and salty food, wouldn't eat them. The cheese bites were so salty and the oil they are fried in is so disgusting. They were dripping in toxic vegetable oil. Why not use quality peanut oil? We also ordered the club sandwich and fries. The bread was barely toasted, it was super soggy after drenched in the dressing that was put on it. I recommend seriously toasting the bread. And the fries were way too salty. I know salty is the Rome way but my husband who is from Rome thought it was way over done on the cheese bites and fries. On-line ordering process was easy, even when I wanted to customize it. When I got there to pick up, there was an actual person to greet me at my car. Friendly and helpful when I asked for ketchup and salt. Food was tasty and still warm when I got it back the to hotel. Only issue--no plastic utensils or napkins. This was a problem since we did not have access to any and I was not in the mood to drive the three miles back to the restaurant. Note to self--check order before leaving next time. read more

Food was as is expected, average to good. It is what it is. The reason for my score is the service. I ordered curbside pickup within the curbside pickup hours and proceeded to wait 10 minutes sitting directly outside the curbside pickup door. I was the only car on the designated parking as well so being busy is not an excuse in my opinion. To top it off when I went inside to pick up my order and let the employees know I had been outside waiting I didn't even receive an apology. We've eaten here on occasion over the years, never was anything super fantastic, but it's chain food, so we knew what we were getting. Tonight, I took my youngest 2 kids on a "date" and we decided on Applebee's. I ordered my daughter's food for her (cheeseburgers off the kids menu, no buns, with fries. She can't have wheat, so this was an easy fix). I ordered the Stout Beer Chicken (one of my favorites), and my son ordered the kid's steak with fries. Our server, Lester, came back out and asked if she had a gluten allergy, I said yes, and he apologized that they had put her burgers on buns accidentally and they would remake them. He also said that the fries could be cross-contaminated, to which I replied that was not an issue, her allergy isn't anaphylactic and cross contamination isn't an issue for fries, she just can't eat the bread etc. He was super cool and I thanked him for being so attentive to her needs. When our food came out I helped the kids first, and then returned to my meal. My chicken was completely burned. I called my server back over and let him know that it was burned. He offered me a refund or new meal, I asked for another, but to go as the kids would be done before it came out, and at 5 and 7, I wouldn't expect them to sit for an extra 20-30 minutes. He apologized profusely, and the manager also came to the table and apologized and explained what had happened in the kitchen. She said that she would take care of it. I thanked her and the kids finished up. Lester brought out my new meal, and asked me to verify that it was ok before he packaged it up, and got it ready to go for me. We got our check, and I was shocked to see that the manager had 100% comped my meal, I didn't expect that, and it was very kind. I expected dinner to be about $40, and even with tax it came to just less than $22. I was more than happy to leave the full $40 I planned to pay, and left a thank you (in kids crayon LOL) for Lester. He earned it. He is a fantastic server, and was so kind to the kids, coming to their level to let them order, and being attentive to us. Very pleased. read more

Also, the lime chicken nachos were chips with scraps of chicken, no where near a propper nacho. This is a good place for a decent meal for a good price. We do take out quite a bit. I have cancer and don't get out much. Their 2 for $20 meals are a great deal. My only real complaint is that the well done burgers are not well done. They are pink in the middle. I've even asked that when they think it's done give it a few more minutes. Burn it if you have to. Still I get pink. I don't eat pink burgers so I only get to eat the outside of my burger. I've stopped ordering burgers. read more

I work close by and spontaneously wanted to stop in for a cold beer and a hot meal. The hostesses were very friendly and I requested to sit at the bar. The bartender was very nice and greeted me promptly. I was immediately served my cold beverage and I knew what I wanted, so I ordered the 4 cheese, Mac and cheese. The wait time was not horrible however upon receiving my meal I could not tell what was colder my beverage or my meal. The sauce was poured on only a quarter of the noodles and they were by no means warm. I requested they be warmed up, there was no apology and the wait took twice as long this time around. If I wanted a meal that was zapped in a microwave I could have done so at home for a fraction of the cost. I would never request a discount in price, because I feel this reflects poorly on character. However this incompetence was very blatantly shown. I do not blame the bartender/waitress however this does reflect very poorly on the management (which I saw none of during the entire visit) and the cooking crew. I will return again in hopes of better food next time around, don't let me down. read more
