Great experience! Passing through on a family vacation and this was the closest restaurant near us. It's a seat yourself type deal with high tops, low tops, and bar seating. All of the staff was extremely friendly and personable, especially our bartender/waitress Emily. I got the summer salad which was amazing. My mom got the chicken wings with "monkey boom stick" sauce which was basically a boom boom sauce- also amazing. My dad got slider burger train which is 4 burger sliders. 1.mushroom and Swiss, 2.onion rings and bbq, 3.pepper jack and jalapeño, and 4.bacon and cheddar. A side of sweet potato fries and coleslaw- everything was perfect. Would definitely be a regular bar for us if we lived here! Highly recommend! We have eaten lunch here several times. Just wanted to add a comment. Today l tried a cup of their spicy chicken corn chowder. A great cup of soup can shine a bright light on the cook. This was a great choice for a quick stomp on the route home from upstate!! Not gonna lie, there was quite a wait for our drinks and food, but they were very busy on a Saturday! Many locals in groups, lots of people around the bar, everyone there to get good bite and grab a beer! This place has very good food , but today was the 2nd time in two years I've had a discrepancy with my bill. Last year I was charged extra, after asking if I could just get a side of fries, which was advertised for $5. When my bill arrived they had charged me more, as well as charging me for a more expensive beer then what I had ordered, and received. Today, I ordered a pulled pork sandwich, which the menu listed as coming with cole slaw, and one side. I ordered the sweet potato fries from the sides menu. The sandwich was great, the slaw fantastic, and the fries were good, and plentiful. However, when my bill arrived, I noticed that they added an extra $2 for the fries. When I asked the waitress why this charge was on my bill, she said it was an upcharge for the fries. Nowhere on the menu does it say that the fries carried an upcharge! When I told this to the waitress, she made it seem like I should have assumed this, although there's nothing to suggest any of the sides have an upcharge. I told her that they can't just add this charge to my order, after I order, and that it definitely wasn't cool. The servers acted a bit snobby toward me afterward, just as they did the last time they made a "mistake". Furthermore, the service at the bar was spotty, at best.....just like my previous visit. read more

This is a hit or miss restaurant. I say this because the first time we ate there the food was outstanding, while the staff not so much nor the cleanliness of the place the food brought us back. Big mistake, hence the hit or miss. This time we brought ppl with us and it was EMBARRASSING!!! While we noticed the staff seem basically pissed to be there last time, we put it off to maybe just aone night thing, it's not. I never seen such a miserable group of people in one place who clearly hate their jobs, or give that appearance. And let's get to the food, it was all awful. We sat on the outside patio and because we chose to do we had to serve ourselves, meaning we had to walk up to the bar and place our order and then keep going in to check If the food had come out, what????? I don't know if they rotate chefs but it clearly was not the same quality as our first visit. Given the price points I doubt we will risk another visit. read more

OMG I cannot even begin to describe how phenomenal this place is!!! We had heard of the Alamo but hadn't had the chance to try it yet. We were meeting friends for dinner and pulled up and the parking lot was packed so we were like hmm that's a good sign. The restaurant has a great esthetic with a tin ceiling, taps lining the walls, pictures of the past and so much more!!! So much history in this place too. Back to the food! First of all the beer, whiskey and drink selections were totally unexpected. They have an insane number of whiskeys and my fiancé was in heaven! I was able to get a local Great Lakes Beer on tap (I was born and raised in Cleveland so I was pumped). We got Thai Chili Calamari for an appetizer and from the presentation to the taste this is not your typical bar food. The calamari was cooked just right and the sauce was not too spicy and just so delicious! My fiancé got the fish fry and I got the steak salad and we switched halfway through. The steak was perfectly cooked and the romaine lettuce was grilled which had such a great char which enhanced the flavor of the dish. There was at least 1 whole avocado on the salad too. The fish's fry was great too! Not greasy at all and so we'll breaded! Plus the coleslaw was very impressive! I highly recommend this places to anyone in Central, NY! They have indoor and outdoor seating and a crazy big menu and drink selection. There is something for everyone here :) read more

Oh my goodness. This place was a happy accident that we stumbled across and it was so good! The atmosphere is cute and the waitresses were wonderful. The young lady running the bar went above and beyond to get our youngest's order exactly the way she wanted it... tenders with buns and cheese fries with actual cheese... not cheese sauce. The lobster roll, Texas burger, & chicken ceasar wrap were all SO GOOD! The sweet potato fries were the best I've had anywhere and were from SC. Highly recommend this great find for lunch. read more

My family was excited to go to the Alamo In Poland, NY. Everyone was telling us how amazing it is. Well, that must've been a very bad April Fool's Day joke. When we got there, we sat ourselves and quickly saw the table after us , and after them, and even three more after them had received service. My wife said something to a server and it was as if we had leprosy, all in all the server spent 1's of seconds taking our orders , then not checking on us, nor even caring that we all just received the worst possible meals we could've. I've been coming here for a couple of years now and I've never been disappointed. What more could you ask for in a pub? TVs strategically placed around the restaurant to accommodate any request - be it game day or Bachelorette. Plenty of seating for parties large or small. A handful of local, domestic, and international beers on tap gives me something new to try with every visit. A very impressive liquor and cigar selection sits on display for all to see! The outdoor seating is the place to be on a warm summer night. The service has always been swift, accurate, and warm. I think I'm forgetting something... The food! The Alamo maintains a robust list of favorites while somehow offering new and fresh specials daily, bringing innovative flavors and cuisines to an area otherwise devoid of them. It's evident the owner is hard at work creating a menu that could please even the harshest of critics; I imagine he takes pride in his craft and he should. If they had to narrow their menu down to one item, the everything wings are surely the best in CNY and might result in enough orders to pay the bills themselves. I gave a 30% tip and left most of the food there. I will never fault wait staff so I gave a very good tip and left. I just won't go back. I'm writing this on behalf of my 85-year-old grandmother, who doesn't know what Yelp is nor how to write a review. Here's what she just mentioned to me when, on a visit to her, we passed the Alamo and asked if she liked it: She detailed how her husband had made long-standing reservations for an alumni event to be held there. When he and a friend stopped by the day before the event to confirm and make sure, they were informed that their reservation had been canceled in favor of a fifty-person gathering to be held there. In one day, they had to find a new place to hold an event they had planned for two months. My step-grandfather, ever the level-headed chap, was particularly frustrated by the total lack of decorum and business sense demonstrated by an establishment -- in a small town where everyone knows each other, no less! He was met with zero apology from the Alamo not to mention nothing whatsoever to make up for their errors. The alumni group thus headed over to the Miners Table, which, having eaten there two days ago, I can confirm is lovely and a much better alternative to what I can only describe (my words, not my grandmother's) as a thoughtless roadside shithole. I have been all over the country for work and just recently moved to upstate New York from down south in Louisiana. Needless to say I know some good chicken wings when I have them and let me tell you what , the alamos everything wings were hot , fresh , zingy, full of flavor and had a perfect crisp to sauce ratio !
