I don't have any major complaints for this experience. The food was good and the service was decent. A few complaints highlight the experience though. One was that the bartender was making way too much noise during our service, slamming things around and breaking ice. While I imagine it's necessary to do these things in order to perform service, there has to be a quieter way to do it. It was drawing the attention of every table and was very loud, consistently. The Good: Most Applebee's are the same. You've been to one, you've been to them all. The reason we keep the Tracy Applebee's in our date night rotation is the bartender, Krystal. She's friendly, fast and her service has never let us down. As long as she's tending the bar Sunday nights, we'll keep coming back. We also are a fan of their 'Sunday Fundays'. You can't go wrong with an all day happy hour. The rest of the staff here also seems incredibly friendly but we only sit at the bar. The Bad: We have a policy when we come here: never order the steaks, never order the ribs. It's actually an Applebee's wide rule for us. Thankfully their menus change often so we usually have plenty to choose from. The Ugly: No complaints on the decor here. It looks like every other Applebee's. The lettuce was wilted and the chicken didn't taste fresh... it tasted like it had been sitting for a long period of time maybe under a heat lamp.. However, the service was good. He was simply a joy to watch him do his job, he gave amazing service , above and beyond what you would expect in a chain restaurant! I'm generally not a fan of the chain family grill restaurants. Applebee's, Chili's, Chevy's, and everything that falls in here. The food is usually OK, cooked in butter or deep fried, or covered in cheese. This Applebee's had GREAT customer service. You can really tell that they drill it into the server's to be polite and attentive to the customer's needs. Sometimes this is more important to me than the quality of the food. I mean I can overlook a mediocre meal if the staff really was there for me and not thinking about where they were going after their shift...but even if the food is good, a rotten attitude can ruin an evening. I don't know how other Applebee's staff respond in general, but if you feel the need to eat here, there's really nothing to be disappointed about. We went there for lunch today. Won't be back. I used to eat at the Applebee's in Livermore and the service was always pretty good. My favorite dish there was the BBQ riblets and that's what brought us there today. They were actually out of the riblets and our waitress told us they run out of a lot of things on Sunday. Huh?? I ended up getting the prime rib French dip and it was OK but it took almost 45 minutes after we ordered to get our food. The service was bad. read more

But I'm sorry if you're going to be a bartender you need to be a little more respectful to your customers. That's your job. We're not telling you to bend over backwards for us. I actually didn't want to write a review but since our server Edith is super awesome:))) I'm writing one:) Edith is so nice and very friendly:) she got our orders right and is very attentive and sensitive to each tables needs. We ordered from the 2 for $24 selection and combined with some take out orders as well. We ordered grilled cedar salmon and Napa chicken portobello... Both dish are pretty good. Take out orders of boneless wings, chicken penne, four cheese mac and cheese and another order of cedar salmon. We weren't happy with our chips and salsa order. The chips are nasty!! Whatever brand they switched to is not working at all. I suggest to go back to old brand or recipe. .....or serve chips hot! I normally love Applebee's. I used to come here on a weekly basis back in high school. But I'm only doing this review based on last night. It was very strange. I went here with my friend and her sister for dinnertime around 9pm. Normally I have no problems with this place. There was a significant amount of people, but it didn't seem too busy. Everyone was laid back, eating, drinking at the bar, watching the flat screen, etc. I'm unsure if it was just the waitress, or maybe they were shortstaffed. But the service was really slow for some reason. It took like 10-15min. just to recieve a beverage. Around the same amount of time of waiting to take our order too. Me and my friends were looking around confused as to why it would take so long for any of that considering how slow it was. Also, my drink was all weird. I ordered standard strawberry lemonade (one of my favs), and the first time it was light pink but it seemed they put way too much lemonade and pulp and only a little strawberry. When I asked for a refill, she came back with a bright red kool-aid looking beverage. I looked to my friends and then looked at the glass and started laughing. Did the waitress not even notice the difference? Did the bartender not care? I was really confused. I order this drink everytime I'm here practically, and I have never seen it look like this. I guess I just find it strange bc it's never happened to me before. It was like water with red food coloring with a slight taste of strawberry. Overall it was just a weird night. Visited on 12/30 prior to a shopping visit to the local mall. The place was full with a line waiting for tables. Noticing the bar and bar area tables were empty, we asked if we could sit there and were told yes. Service was prompt and friendly and drinks were served within 2 minutes. Anchor Steam is now a good addition to the draft lineup. Lunch entries are modestly sized but soups were hot and tasty. French onion and the tomato soups were both good. I would probably say that Chili's is the closest competitor and Applebee's has a better menu for those who are more conscious of calories, fat etc. read more

This is THE late night hang out for this small town. Pretty much everyone knows each other and between the happy hour starting at 9 and the week day games its a good place to meet up with friends. Just stopped by here today (Apple Bee's in Tracy)Sunday at 12:08 PM the 21st and we were offered a high top in the bar which we took. We sat there for what seemed 15 minutes and nobody even acknowledged us. The very young manager walked pass us three times as well as many servers. The restaurant was only at half capacity. There is no sense of urgency within this restaurant and I can now understand their 2.5 star rating. If the manager is going to be out on the floor, he should then actually atleast pay attention to what is going on. Try smiling at a guest or actually have a conversation with them. On Thursday night (around 8pm) decided to dine at my local neighborhood Applebee's. Walked in and we stand for about 3 minutes before someone comes over to greet and seat us. Once seated we waited 5-7minutes and my wife finally gets up and go find us a server. During our waited at the table, there was a server 2 tables from us who never acknowledged us. Keep in mind the restaurant was not busy and there were a lot of staff members hanging out around the bar drink pickup area. My wife ordered the all u can eat ribs and seem to enjoy (but she said they used to be better). I had the 2for$22 with my kid. Chicken tender (dry) and I had the chicken (low calorie) meal which I really enjoyed. The food was decent, but the service was a little undesirable when the place is not busy. read more

Tonight my parents invited me to dinner, of course Tracy doesn't have the most options and I am not a fan of chain restaurants - but I figured, what the heck. Why not Applebees! Just as I remembered it was packed with large groups and couples! They even had a hefty group of people at the bar, in which there are TVs with games and ESPN on! (a huge plus) I had steak with vegetables and for an appetizer we had the boneless chicken wings. Maybe I was just hungry - but the food was delicious. But I do have to give props to our server Christina. She was really sweet, nice and prompt!! I should come here more often! As I mentioned I am more of a independent/bistro/one of a kind restaurant seeker, but for a casual night with the rents, Applebees does the do - and the service was better than expected. Applebee's is always a bomb spot to go to with buddies after work. The environment is awesome and they are always showing the latest games. My buddies and I always go to after work and always ask for my favorite server Rudy! This guy knows our order by memory now and knows how to take really good care of us. He has never failed to disappoint me. I've gone in there on a night when he wasn't working and sat at the bar and it wasn't that good of time. I enjoy how cheap their menu is. One of the few places open late in Tracy, till midnight or later they say. We left at 11:25 pm, and it was still full of people. We were hesitant with the negative reviews, but we were greeted and seated warmly by Natalie, then quickly greeted by our server, Samantha or Sam. She was an excellent server the whole time. Another young man named Sam also came and checked on us several times... We ordered off of the half price happy hour menu. Chicken wonton tacos were yummy. They are small, but there were 4 of them. Next we had the green goddess wedge salad, also really good. Once you chop it and toss it, there is a large plate of salad, with blue cheese and pecans. Really tasty. Finally we shared the boneless wings. These are why I only gave 4 stars. They were heavily breaded and really were just like chicken nuggets. I don't think I would order again. We had the sauce on the side, and ordered two sauces: honey bbq and spicy Asian. They charged extra for the additional sauce, but didn't let us know this. It was nominal, but still... We doordashed last night and ordered the bourbon chicken and the bourbon steak. It was extremely salty and not edible. The chicken was smothered with too much salt and seasoning! even the broccoli and mushrooms was extremely salty. My husband ordered the bourbon steak and it was salty too, his vegetables was also too salty to eat. It was soo salty we couldn't eat it and threw it away. We couldn't get a refund because it was through door dash even though we gave them feedback. I mean to mess up on one meal is bad, but to mess up on 2 meals is unacceptable. If I could give zero stars I would. Worst service I have had in QUITE some time. Had to wait to even be greeted, had to wait another 25 min. for a table even though we were next in line and the place was half empty. Our server took his time bringing out drinks and we noticed there was no urgency in any of the servers at all. We wondered if we were ever going to receive the appetizer we ordered. It came, a HALF HOUR later and with our food...so NOT an appetizer. We didn't see our server again for another 20 min. when he came by to 'see how we were doing'. Well, by that time had we needed anything it would be a mute point. After we were done with our food (the plates never did get cleared), we...you guessed it...waited for our check. We had to ask to get it and then waited and waited to get the change. Never did get the change because by that time my husband just said 'screw it' and left the three dollars change with the server.
