So I called in two orders of the triple play pasta on here their yelp menu shows it's as 18.00 each. They charged my card over phone and charged me 57.00 which was 10.50 more! 28.50 for each pasta. Our first time here and we were a little skeptical being that it is a bar and we weren't sure how the food was going to be. We had the stuffed angus burger with blue cheese and it comes with fries. It was surprisingly delicious. So juicy and flavorful. We also split it and that was a good thing because it was very filling. My husband is an IPA beer guy and was looking for more of a beer selection but can always drink a Corona. So he wasn't too disappointed. We definitely will come back and try it again. read more

Perhaps that really isn't fair because the service was so bad, (I wish I had read reviews first or I'd have known) that we finally gave up and walked out. Stopped in on a Saturday night for a couple beers since I was in the area. This place is located in the strip mall on the southeast corner of the intersection. So there's plenty of parking. I was pleasantly surprised to walk inside and find live music. Especially since there was no cover charge! The first performers were finishing up their set, but I still got to hear a half dozen songs. Then a new group took stage. The unique thing tonight...both played Jamaican music. I don't think I've ever been to a stateside bar that played all Caribbean music. It was says nice change and both performers were good. Now the inside was a little smaller than I prefer, but it worked. There are several TV monitors throughout the place...and one is a big screen. There's bar seating, high top tables, and low top tables. The low tables are in the back area. There's also an outside patio seating area. Since we're into the cold & rainy season, no one was using the patio area except to smoke. The one thing in particular that immediately caught my eye was the lighting level. Usually, bars are a lot darker. This place was well lit...not sure if that worked for me. I didn't look at the food menu, so I can't comment on it or those prices. To my surprise, they have daily drink specials...on Saturdays, IPAs are just $4/pint. When I got there, it was about 10:15pm...the place was reasonably packed. I had to wait quite awhile before a bartender noticed me and got me a beer. Since the music was Caribbean...were they selling Red Strip...yep! Between performers, the place thinned a bit...easy to get my next drink. Nothing exceptional stood out for me on this visit. No objections to trying this place again in the future. read more

On our way to Oregon from Riverside, we tried to stop in at Dan's BBQ in Modesto but he had a catering event today and on his way out, he sent us to Bookies for the "best burgers in town." I ordered a BBQ Bacon Burger, my wife ordered the French Dip and my son had the fish and chips. The burger was a perfect medium pink color (as ordered) and it tasted amazing. My wife loved the French Dip and my son thoroughly enjoyed his fish and chips. Amanda, our server, was great! She checked on us on multiple occasions and just made this unplanned stop a very delightful one. I wanted to like this place, because I like the ambiance and the good reviews. How me and some friends ended up here on a Tuesday night. Inside scoop, we were all beast-moding it at the gym. One of the guys suggested we grab some tacos and Pacificos at Bookies. So we did! Hungry as bears we met up at Bookies. The ambiance was different, dark, cold, man cave kinda feel, which I liked. Our waitress was cool, but slightly attentive, as to we ordered a round of beers and that took about 10 minutes to come out, as she passed our table twice attended a group of regulars. It was my first time there, and cant go wrong with fresh tacos after the gym right?! WRONG. In the picture on instagram, the pictures shows there mouth watering steak, chicken, and shrimp tacos topped with guacamole. It was .50 of guac more per taco. Steak, Chicken and Bean tacos are 2.00 and Shrimp and Fish are 2.50. Reasonable for what the picture advertised on Bookies's Instagram official page. The wait was ridiculous! 30 minutes our waitress comes back telling us they are out of FISH. and Asked if we wanted another round of beers. I had water, and my 3 friends had a 2nd round of beers. In mind, we sat right near the bar, it took another 15 minutes for the beers to be dropped off at our table and still no tacos. So within the 1 and a half hour wait our tacos came out. 4 tacos per person, that's 16 tacos total. Let me tell you: CONS: 1. The steak were basically crumbs from some other order, I bet. They were tiny like hamster pellets. The shrimp was little to non-existent. Literally 1 and a half shrimps cut into 3. You can't fool a hungry man. The chicken was the only taco I can't complain about. 2. She forgot my guacamole and bought me about 3 slices. Basically paid 1.5 for three tiny slices of guac. PROS: 1. The tacos were tasty hands down. THE MISSION: The mission was to get in. Eat tacos. Drink Beer. Good times. The AFTERMATH: Maybe if we were regulars we'd get good service. I mean the food taste is pretty damn good, maybe we were all starving and everything tasted like heaven, but the wait killed it for us. Dropped by here for the Free UFC fight. The Atmosphere was as expected with the clientele to match a UFC fight. There's always a view thanks to all the screens and one large one ~80" smack in the middle. Food was really good for a sports bar. Most sports bars don't have savory tasting food. Try the Appetizer Sampler & Fish/Shrimp Tacos. The waitresses ratio was better than most sports bars. She even checked on us several times. Definitely will come back especially for watching Sports.
