A warehouse full of booze, what's to complain about? This place is huge and so is their selection. I love perusing the endless aisles of wine and picking something new to try. They also carry all our favorites if that is what we're in the mood for. Their beer cooler has a great selection including Russian River if you're lucky. You have to come at the right time apparently if you're looking for those brews. When bringing delicious Colorado crafts back to Iowa for friends and family this is our first stop. I have stopped shopping with them based solely on their out of touch pricing. $65 for Makers Cask when I can get it for $38 at Highlands WineSeller. Every bourbon on their shelf is at least $5 higher than Davidson's or HW, and in most cases more than $10 higher. Plus sales-tax is 5% in Douglas County vs 8% at AJ. If you know what you want, this is a great place to go to for selection and price. Their wine sales are awesome and plentiful. However, every time I asked for a recommendation or a substitute to a wine they don't carry, they never seem to have the knowledge. When I ask for a $10 bottle of wine you don't carry, please don't show me a "comparable" $75 bottle. Other than that, I keep coming back when on that side of town. read more

Above and beyond, amazing customer service today! We needed a root beer keg tomorrow for our Father's Day celebration at church, which we reserved earlier in the week. Upon pick up however, the keg was not there (a simple mistake), but Matt (a manager) and a few others brainstormed together on some solutions. Long story short, Matt drove all the way to Boulder to personally pick up a keg for us and drive it to our location to rectify the situation. This is amazing customer service. I haven't been to this location physically, but they are partnered with MiniBarDelivery.com and deliver alcoholic beverages to your home! I only just heard of this today, and HAD to try it out! I put in an order on my way home from work, and in less than an hour, it was at my door! I wish I would've gotten the driver's name, because he was really prompt, cool, and courteous. I told him in person, but I'm saying it again for the record, I will definitely be ordering from Applejack (through MiniBar) again! Hopefully they send the same retailer every time! I love Applejack's! It used to be my neighborhood liquor store and since moving downtown, I still drive to Applejacks. I guess I prefer boxes of wine everywhere and the prices are great too. Wines are separated by region in the back, in the front many, many wines on sale. Hard liquor is to the back left, box wine in the back and beer to the right. They have a few beers from Europe and they have copper mugs too if you want to make proper moscow mules. The lines are quick to go through even on the weekend nights and the staff is always helpful. They will deliver if you order enough, though I haven't bought this much yet, it's sounds good if you get a few kegs for a party. I know I'm blocks from Argonaut, but I just don't feel as welcomed there. Applejack's is my fave! read more

The first time I came to Applejack's was a couple years ago as a pit stop on the way up to the mountains and I remember being impressed. I hadn't been back since but found myself in the area a couple weeks ago and decided to stop in. To be honest with you, I was a little disappointed. It seems like a great place to come for wine, but the beer selection was not as good as I remembered. Nothing I hadn't seen before, surprisingly few local options (though they do carry the cherry kriek from Strange!), and not particularly great prices. Again, maybe there are more deals to be found with wine and liquor, but I didn't see any beer bargains that particularly jumped out at me. Certainly nothing that would make me drive out of the way to come here. Stone mixed 12 pack was 19.99, I buy it at the liquor store in Edgewater for 18.99. Service seems to vary. Some employees are very nice and helpful, others seem like they don't want to be there. I asked one guy for a wine recommendation and he was pretty unenthusiastic about it. I'm pretty sure he just picked the wine closest to where we were standing and suggested it. Liquormart (and Hazel's) in Boulder and Argonaut in Denver still win, in my eyes at least. read more

I'm going to preface this with Applejack is a place you go for scream' hot deals on wine, not necessarily liquor. If you dig through reviews anything rated below a 4 seem to be non-wine drinkers. For anyone that loves wine though, Applejack is well worth the jaunt to Wheat Ridge if you're buying more than a bottle or two. Because this places goes through such volume, they have amazing deals on pretty much any category of wine that you're looking for. For example I was able to pick up 2 bottles, one red, one white, of Rhone wines by Jaboulet and Chapoutier for less than $20 because they were on sale. They also have one of the best selections of Louis Jadot Burgundian wines I've seen anywhere. All at decent prices... well decent prices for Burgundian wines. Catering to the Cab and Merlot lovers, they have two aisles of wines from Bordeaux. Not to mention probably about half of their massive wine selection is domestic, so if you're a fan of your California vino and are looking for something in particular, they probably have it. read more

It's well off the beaten path from Denver but if you're on the road to the mountains or back down, this is your warehouse for all things alcohol. All things. Applejacks can be a little overwhelming to the virgin eyes of a new visitor but the staff is helpful and the layout makes sense once your eyes adjust. Beer on your right, Wine in the back, liquor dead ahead. The staff are helpful and efficient but if they place is busy, it may take a second to get some assistance. Not in a bad way, the place is just massive and that's bound to happen. I've never waited more than a minute or two before someone was free. Which reminds me, get something to carry your purchases in so that those minutes go unnoticed and your arms don't feel like they're going to break! Oh,and if you check in on Yelp before you leave, (unlike me) you get a free corkscrew! Got to love some Yelper perks. :) read more

This liquor store is HUGE. I was shocked. It's way bigger inside than it looks on the outside! You could probably hide a camel between a couple less used aisles for a few weeks before anyone really noticed. I like the ratings beneath the wine bottles, because I neither like (yes, crucify me now) or know anything about wine, especially red wine. My sister, however, is a vinophile, so I try to have a bottle on hand to please her and my brother in law if she visits. I haven't struck out as far as meeting her standards by simply using the Applejack ratings to choose a bottle for her. The cash thing is really, really annoying, but at least the King Soopers nearby has an ATM. read more

A lot of booze. Crazy parking. Overall not too bad. This is my 2nd visit. Beer selection is okay but I think I have the same amount over at DaveCo up in Thornton. Always shop here for my NYE Champagne. Good recommendations so far, if not a bit pricey. The cashier even offered to scan one of their club cards for me to see if anything was not on sale. Sadly no discounts this go around but also no hard sell on signing up for the club. For the amount of booze I normally buy I probably would not come out ahead by signing up for one. I've used Applejack twice for delivery to California. Their prices and selection are definitely above average. Why only three stars? On both occasions the assemblage of the order took much longer than other outlets, somewhere on the order of ten days or more. Ok...I can live with that in this COVID-19 era. What is really galling--and no direct fault of Applejack--is their shipper, FedEx. My current shipment is several days overdue because of inclement weather. I understand that delays can occur during the winter months. Where Applejack is lacking is notifying the customer that a delay had occurred and the shipment will be late in arriving. The FedEx website remains vague as well on the shipment. This communication deficiency will force me to choose another wine shop in the future. read more

This place is HUGE!! Such a big selection of all different kinds of alcohol- beer, wine and spirits. If you know what exactly you are looking for, you will love it. I usually need some help deciding and the staff is always willing to help. Many of the basics are a bit pricey, but anything besides the basics is well-priced. It would behoove you to go during an off-peak time, as it can get pretty crazy in the store and in the lot. read more

Holy Selection, BATMAN!!! WOWOW! If you can't find it here then they'll order it! So I guess the moral of the story is that if you can't find it here, you won't find it. I appreciate that their wines are organized by a region so you can sample various offerings from around the country and world. They also have an extensive collection of pre-chilled beers, white wines and sparkling wines. The staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, their recommendations have never steered me wrong. Hands down the best liquor store around. Items are fairly priced with the exclusion of non-alcoholic items...run to King Soopers for soda if you're whipping up Jack & Coke or need some club soda. Customer service????? Not how I expected to be treated as a customer. I walked into the store and a customer service rep kindly greeted me and asked If i needed any help. I told him yes, Im looking for not your fathers root beer. He looked right at me and said "good luck" and walked off. Honestly I was floored by the comment. As I walked over to the beer section I found exactly what I was looking for. Not to mention they had plenty in stock. If I hadn't shopped here in the past and had good experiences, this would be one-star, but until they get their act together, I definitely recommend that people shop elsewhere. I tried their delivery service, and aside from a dismal lack of feedback, I never got my delivery. After two entries in their online contact form (with no response) and three phone calls over two weeks, they admitted that they'd charged me, and marked it as delivered, but not actually delivered anything. A few days more, and I got credited back. OK, so the delivery service is absolutely worthless, and whoever is behind it is incompetent, but at least I could still go in person and shop, right? I thought so. I went to the store, and was told to wait in line outside. There was no actual line, but apparently they had too many people inside. No clue how long the wait would be, just wait here and hope for the best. I'll just have to shop somewhere else, and maybe once the COVID mess is over, see if Applejack has returned to some semblance of competence. read more

For years I've gone to Applejacks and suffered though the no credit card thing just because I think their wine selection and prices are great. So now that I'm getting married, I am beside myself excited to take a very large chunk of money and go spend it on booze- it's a dream! Of course Applejacks was the first place I thought of. So I emailed the event planner and waited to hear back to set what is anticipated to be the most fun appointment in all of wedding planning. But I don't hear back, so 6 days later, I give him a call. He's apologetic, it was Christmas they were busy, so I let it go. (Even though in my opinion 6 days is still too long for that excuse.) We make an appt and I'm happy. Day of appointment, snow storm hits Denver so I leave work a little early to make my appointment on time. (Applejacks is not on my way home, so its a bit of a trek.) 30 minutes later after white knuckle driving on C470, I arrive and meet my fiance there only to find out that our event planner has left for the day. Needless to say, I am extremely frustrated by his lack of professionalism. The snow is always a good excuse to get out of things, but I would have needed a phone call or email before hand- it was clear that he just forgot about us. He emailed me two days later to tell me his excuse. And he tried to blame me for not meeting with another person who was there (not an event planner). Some people have a hard time apologizing and taking responsibility for their mistakes. But as I am in sales, making a buck (or a thousand in this case) is way more important than your ego sometimes. Thanks to fellow yelpers, I found Mile High Wine and Spirits in Belmar. They have a 5 star rating, and sound awesome, especially in the customer service department. Applejack is a great place to shop if you show up in person at the store, but their website is a disaster. I live outside of Denver and thought I would save time by placing orders via their website. Over 50% of the wines on their website ended up being not available. And, their default is to allow a vintage substitution unless you manually opt out. I ended up with several wines I had no intention of buying. Even worse, you cannot trust their wine ratings. I purchased a case of wine they said had a wine Advocate rating of 92, but turned out it was actually an 86. Finally, even though you may be assured your purchase will be at will call, there is a low probability they will be there. Bottom line, do not use their website, show up in person and make an afternoon of it exploring their inventory, and verify any ratings with your mobile device. read more

BEST IN DENVER and IMPROVED -- we like to shop for the best selection of wine, outstanding at this spirit shop. With last week's trip to Applejacks, we find that they've changed their payment policy and NOW INCLUDE CREDIT CARDS. This was a hold-out for some of the other reviews on yelp, just in case this makes a difference to ya. As other shoppers note, we like to take a leisurely hour or two to browse the multitude of choices. Sales people are very helpful and will assist you with anything you need. I've even been able to find my favorite Washington wines that I only found at the vineyard before, and no better prices elsewhere. I do not understand why you cannot buy alcohol inside of a grocery store here in Colorado but maybe it is because I am from Missouri and we have some of the loosest alcohol laws in the US. Huge selection of wines, hards, and beers. You'll never leave empty handed. My only complaint is that their beer selection doesn't change too much. They have a section specifically for seasonal beers which is nice but it's pretty small. With such a large store, I expected them to have more "different" beers to choose from, especially since there are so many craft breweries in Colorado.
