Great place to eat! The special today was a bacon cheeseburger with onion rings for $6.99. The place came under new ownership about two months ago and the service was fantastic. We also had some freshly made chocolate chip cookies that were wonderful. Great job folks. read more

3/20/17 Update - I'm now rating this establishment as 1 star, for lack of professionalism, but if I could, I would give it negative 5 stars. The owner Thanasi contacted me in a patronizing manner, then proceeded to block me. Below is the response I had originally typed out, before discovering he/she had blocked me: Owner: "Where's all your photos? Since you enjoy documenting your experiences so much" Me: "Hi Thanasi - It's good to know the owner patronizes people who leave reviews about your business. If you couldn't tell by my profile, you'll notice I've only written one review. I enjoy using Yelp, but have never felt strongly enough to actually write reviews or post photos. Despite creating a Yelp account nearly 3 years ago, dining at your establishment was the first time I truly felt compelled enough by such poor quality to actually write a review. I'd appreciate it if you used proper grammar the next time you address me as well. This is what a good home cooked meal tastes like! Small diner with friendly service like momma would have. Ham and eggs were tasty as was the pancakes. I has the BLT and found it a great value at $3.75. They also have fresh baked goods including cookies, breads and apple turnovers. Will be back when we visit Lubbock again. read more

The owner is a young graduate - working hard to get this quaint diner off the ground; & competing with corporate America to do so. Very sad. My friends and I used to come here twice a week when we were in high school. The food was so good and the staff was so so friendly. So Disappointed! I went this morning because of good Yelp reviews, but I have to wonder if they're real. I ordered scrambled eggs, potatoes and a biscuit. Scrambled eggs should be fluffy but these looked like a pancake and were barely room temperature. Other people talked about great country style eggs but I got a teaspoon of greasy hash browns. The biggest problem was the biscuit. Someone got the great idea of frying or grilling it in old grease. That gave it a hard texture and a very "off" flavor. Don't waste your money. read more

We visited The Apple Tree because of the great yelp reviews, but it was dissapointing. We had breakfast items and they were average at best. Not great... but the service was good. I felt like McDonald's has better biscuits and gravy. read more

Great place for lunch! I always get the special. Today I had meat loaf with mashed potatoes and a squash casserole. Good price and the staff are always very attentive and friendly. One of my favorites. I haven't had anything less than tasty at this restaurant. Also, the bakery portion is magnificent. Especially the blueberry turnovers. The burritos are cheap and quite generous with the portion. Omelettes are quite delicious, and the steak sandwich is one of my favorite things on the menu. read more

my family came in for a quick breakfast and we were very pleased. they were very welcoming and very fast. everyone came by to check on us to make sure we had everything we needed and they kept our drinks full. the only complaint i would say we had was the food was a little bland but otherwise good. we will be back next time we're in town! read more

This is where my friends and I love to go have breakfast together!! We go every single week because we know the food will be good, the coffee is re-filled quickly, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the service is second to none!! Try the steak and cheese omelette or the combination burrito!! And if you're up for a sweet treat, the best ever is either the peppermint cake balls or the brownie! Our favorite waiter, Zach, knows our order by heart (unless we're feeling a bit adventurous), the owners are so hard-working and so friendly!! These friends of ours feel like family! read more

As someone who has lived in Lubbock for 26 years, I cannot say enough good things about Apple Tree Cafe and Bakery. Personally, my "go-to" is the bacon cheeseburger and the cookies are the best in town. The owner and employees are top notch folks and I haven't had a bite to eat there without the owner stopping off at my table and checking in to see how everything is. But the real message I want to get across to you, yelp reader, is the ownership's commitment to satisfying its customers. I got married in Austin, Texas in August of this year and the owner PERSONALLY DROVE about 100 cookies to Austin to be served at the rehearsal dinner. The next time you need a great breakfast or lunch in Lubbock do yourself a favor and give Apple Tree a try. You will not regret it. read more

Great breakfast entrees. Pastries look less-than-illustrious, including deep fried apple pie-turnovers. Pricing and service all great, as well. I had a simple Spanish omelette and could taste quality fresh cracked eggs, real cheddar cheese and pungent chile peppers/onions. Their homemade salsa was tasty, a perfect complement to the omelette. Most notably, the eggs were devoid of tacky restaurant grade shortening so oft proliferated by high volume breakfast places--which this location is not. What could use improvement? Horrible orange juice: Tropicana In plastic bottles. Should switch to Uncle Matt's or fresh squeezed (invest in an Italian machine). Toast was just ok. They should develop a relationship with a serious bakery and could bring cinnamon toast, raisin toast, better wheat toast, sourdough, etc. to the table probably at a moderate cost increase. Location is challenged with ugly mustard buildings blocking views. Once found, it is a delightful "blocked" setting. I will definitely return. read more
