Two foodies from Houston. We are visiting family in Lubbock and we're looking for a breakfast place. When you walk in you are welcomed with warm smells of pie. All types of pie. Yes, we ordered two slices to go. Will come back to let you know. You seat yourself at least at breakfast. The place was full of hungry customers, but we found a seat. Our wait staff was professional, friendly, and personable. While our food was fresh and hot, it was not my favorite breakfast. However, if you grew up eating cafe food, this is a great place. Consistently good food and service. Order is always right, never takes too long even if they are busy and staff is always friendly. It does get a little loud at lunch, but nothing crazy like Dirks (IYKYK). Chicken friend steak is good, probably #2 in Lubbock. read more

OK, this is COMFORT FOOD heaven. No lo-cal, vegan, gluten-free stuff here. It's what you used to get in diners and cafes across America. The sight and smell of fresh baked goods are magnificent to behold especially first thing in the morning. I arrived just as cups of banana pudding were being filled, pecan pie being dished out sending cinnamon and vanilla scents wafting through the air. This place is great. Service is good, food is wonderful. It's a little loud, but it's worth it. The only problem is their hours. I don't think they're open on weekends. Otherwise I'd probably weigh about 30 more pounds than I do. I love this place. You will, too. A Lubbock staple. read more

The week of Thanksgiving is probably not the best to review but I was there today so here it is. There were hundreds of pies near the entrance because everybody wants one, and they're great. I just wanted lunch. A little disappointed because they were out of onion rings and the fries were old and hard. The burger though, magnificent. Half pound patty cooked just right with loads of flavor. Server was great and the atmosphere is always good. I'll have to go back to get onion rings. read more

Our service here was good, and we were seated pretty quickly. The food was okay, they serve decent portions. They ran out of dessert while we were there, so that was a disappointment. It was really over crowded, and hard to hear each other in the facility because of how loud it was. I'm glad we tried it out, I don't think we'd be back though. read more

For a Monday afternoon the place was packed. I was able to get a seat at the bar and was served right away. The staff were all very nice. When you think of a Texas BBQ place, this is kind of the vibe I anticipate. I ordered the Brisket Burger and it was a large serving and very good. I'd recommend getting the french fries. read more

So- came for breakfast -as our usual place (The Pancake House)-was closed. Well, this was great! I had egg whites, and a short stack, while my husband had the breakfast sandwich. The pancakes were FAR better than our usual. They were moist and soft, and my husband said his sandwich was amazing. Milli was our server, and she was super sweet and attentive. Cast iron grill is home style perfected. The food is incredible, you would have trouble ordering something off of this menu you didn't find delicious. Always have the best desserts up front on display. The wait staff always have such a welcoming and comforting demeanor.
