Stopped while passing through on our way northwest from Georgetown. When someone combines chicken fried steak and an omelette into one dish, WINNER! The red velvet pancakes were also a huge win for the home team. Combine this with great service and cool people, breakfast tastes much better. Classic breakfast, yes. We need more of that these days. We stopped on a long road trip because this was the closest to the main highway for breakfast. The food was similar to an ihop or dennys which I like just fine. The waitress was attentive and food came out quickly. Portions were good. I cannot compliment the waitress enough. The only complaint is that I would highly recommend not using the women's restroom. The hall and women's restroom smell pretty bad, even early in the morning I would guess simply because they want you to put all paper products in the trash vs flushing. Including the TP. When a 4 year old boy complains you know it's a little potent. so just don't go to the bathroom before eating. ‍ read more

This place is WOWZA... I love breakfast, and when I can go out for breakfast in the morning, I'm GOING ALL OUT. This is a Lubbock staple for a reason. My husband has ate here a few times during basketball trips, but the boys and I had not, so we gave it a shot yesterday. Let's talk about what we got: for myself-One blueberry pancake, one sweet potato pancake, one pecan pancake, two eggs over easy, sausage, and hash browns... and did I eat (almost) all of it?? YES... be sure to try alllll the pancakes if you can--they also have Red Velvet and a cinnamon roll one (by the way, ask for the cinnamon sugar pancake syrup as well)... My oldest had: the Western Omelette and a breakfast burrito-- he loved them! My youngest had the Hungry Boy Breakfast (buttermilk pancakes, sausage, eggs, hash browns, and biscuits and gravy)--he put it away, and he's 10! Classic "Blue Plate Diner" that has been around a long time. Lots of regulars. Very clean, well worn, with plenty of memorabilia hanging on the walls. Breakfast all day, and a lunch special. We stopped overnight in Lubbock on the way to the coast and decided to give this place a try for an early breakfast since it was across from the hotel we were staying at. We are so glad we did!
