We loved the ambiance, which was outside seating. The inside is a little crowded and busy. It was a pleasant day with a nice cool breeze and a pleasant view of the other shops on the strip. Visiting the rest room was an interesting experience. You have to go behind the counter and into the kitchen where the food is being prepared. I didn't mind because that's what everyone else was doing. I liked walking past the tables and seeing all the dishes other people got. The food looked really good, especially the blueberry pancakes. My granddaughter got French toast, one egg and sausage. The rest of us got breakfast burritos. I got a side of ham for my dog, Baxter. Our burritos were delicious and huge. Baxter liked his large serving of ham and was disappointed when he finished. I had a bite of ham and I can affirm it was delicious. My only complaint about the menu is that they don't offer a choice of bread with the breakfasts. The traditional egg and meat and omelette breakfasts all come with toast. You can get pancakes or biscuits but that's in a different section. You can always order something from the biscuit or pancake section and add a side of eggs and or meat. This is a unique restaurant and well worth checking out.

Had brunch with spouse, daughter and granddaughter after granddaughter competed in the regional high school cross country meet. Accompanied by our dog and it being a lovely day, we sat outdoors. Grownups all had the breakfast burrito with eggs, sausage, cheese, hash browns, tomatoes, and peppers. Granddaughter had French toast with an egg and sausage. It was all quite good. Service was prompt and pleasant. Will go back.

This small diner is one of our favorite places for brunch or lunch. The spinach Florentine omelette is my favorite. I usually request a side of tomato instead of hashbrowns. They butter and grill the side biscuit and it is so good with the crispy edge. Their homemade salsa is also good. I have not tried their pancakes, but I have seen others order it and they are huge (bigger than a large plate)! The baked items in the display case are also excellent and I think they take holiday orders as well. The establishment is always clean and Julian has been a consistently courteous and attentive server.

Quite possibly the best breakfast available in Lubbock. Restaurant had good portion sizes with good prices. The standout dishes included the biscuits and gravy, and the French toast. Staff was very warm and inviting, we got to talk with the owner and tell her first hand how good the food was. Restaurant was very clean and comfortable. The only possible down side is a slightly longer than average wait time, but even then it was worth it! We will be sure to come back again.

New favorite breakfast cafe in all of Lubbock! The service was personal and kind, the food was delicious with attention to detail, and the ambiance was small town chic. I certainly recommend!!

Very clean, friendly little place in the corner of strip mall offers outdoor, shaded dining. Biscuits are small but incredibly well made! Light as feathers! Cream gravy was plentiful and impressive served hot with great consistency and flavor.

1/2 club sandwich with homemade fries. One of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. Excellent service and very clean restaurant.

Wow! What a lovely hidden away breakfast spot! You must get off the beaten path and try this quaint little Cafe. We ordered their omelets which were very good, loaded with fillings, hash browns on the side and a choice of bread. The prices are incredible. The portions are not huge which I loved. Our service was outstanding and because they were closing early we were sent away with some of their homemade baked goods on the house. Lovely owners and delicious fresh made food. We will certainly be back with the whole family!! read more

Excellent food and great service. I'm convinced they have the best french fries in Lubbock! We usually go get sandwiches for lunch, and everything we've tried has been delicious. Don't leave without trying some of their delicious homemade baked goods! The apple turnovers remind me of the ones my great grandma used to make. Highly recommend! read more

Great little place for breakfast, lunch or a confectionery favorite. My wife says it's the perfect size. It was after 11 when we arrived, but they were willing to make us breakfast anyway. Save room for an apricot turnover! read more

Quick service and good food. We came here on a Saturday around 11 AM, which is apparently after the rush, so we got a table right away. Fair prices and good breakfast. The portions aren't giant, which suited me just fine. It was the proper amount of food for a filling breakfast. read more

The desserts are awesome! The food is good, but the reason we keep coming back are the desserts. The turnovers are amazing! The space to sit is small, so not great for big groups. We often just get food to go... Seriously the turnovers... you need them in your life! read more

Such a sweet little cafe with sweet people working there. We ordered a couple sweets to try out and I was immediately told by the hubby to go order more for our road trip home. The coconut cookies were out of control. I have to try and replicate them. Fried pies...omg. And my kids loved the brownies. Go check them out. read more

First time visitor. Was in town for graduation. So glad we woke up early enough to have breakfast here. Small little shop but so good. Everything was made to order. And to too it off the baked goods are even better. Brought some goodies home for my husband and I, we had a fried apple pie and a fried peach pie and both were so good. To die for. Absolutely incredible food. Had the omelette with bacon and sausage. Came with hash browns. Hash browns were a little sparse but just enough food not to feel over stuffed. My daughter had the french toast with eggs. French toast was amazing and over easy eggs were cooked just right. Also had peach fried pie. All I can says is don't you dare come to Lubbock and not go try their fried pies. read more

Our family ate here today for the first time and loved it. My wife had a Philly cheese steak sandwich, and my son and I had cheeseburgers. The sandwich, burgers, and fries were all flawless. The food tasted so fresh. It's as if the food at most other restaurants by comparison tastes like it was printed on a 3D printer. The atmosphere was good. The service was perfect. We will definitely be visiting again, Lord willing. read more

We love eating breakfast here. The French toast and pancakes with blueberry are both delicious! Service is friendly, coffee hot, and bakery items are REALLY good! The fried pies are so good that they are often sold out. It's a small neighborhood place that we love. read more

This place was okay, but it didn't live up to my expectations based on other reviews here. Service was slow. Chicken salad sandwich was average. Onion rings were pretty good. It was all pretty greasy and slow for my taste, but I guess some folks like it that way. read more

Recently under new ownership Apple Tree is keeping its subtle feel with the small bakery dining experience, while adding a more modernized American menu. Their prices on breakfast and lunch are seemingly unbeatable, not to mention delicious. The new owner is a locally born Texas Tech graduate who's a stand up individual, who takes pride and privilege in delivering the absolute best quality and service to his customers. Listen....this little nook of 50th street is so delicious. If your not looking you can definitely miss it but I recommend you don't! Get there early as it is small and seating is limited but that's what makes it quaint. You can also use the drive thru if your in a rush! I ordered the hashbrowns and eggs and they were cooked to perfection. I love when a place cooks like your grandma. The staff was great. Ordering was quick and food time was about 15 minutes. The prices are more than fair especially if you compare to some of the newer restaurants around town. 5 stars all the way! I haven't had a chance to taste the desserts because I'm always stuffed after breakfast but I will soon! read more

I really enjoyed my breakfast here. I haven't ever heard anyone in Lubbock talk of this gem. It had great reviews on Yelp so I had to try it! It didn't disappoint. I got the breakfast plate with two eggs, a huge portion of potato squares, two slices of bacon and two slices of bread. So much food and all for only 5.49? How are they doing this? The food tastes fresh and high in quality. Our waitress was very nice. The food only took about 10 minutes to reach our table. The lunch special for today looked amazing and they look like they have a lot of other really great lunch choices. I will be returning for breakfast again and to try out lunch. read more

A friend and I stopped in here for a quick breakfast before a busy day. Neither of us had ever been and we had no idea what to expect. Upon walking in a kind woman instructed us to sit wherever we like and brought us menus and got our drink order. We ordered identical meals consisting of a bread choice, eggs (2 or 3 made your way), home fries, and a meat (bacon or sausage I believe). I got 2 scrambled eggs, bacon, a biscuit and gravy, and the home fries. The most outstanding item were the home fries. There were twice as many as I could ever hope to eat and they were fresh, warm, and crisp. They were so good! I highly recommend getting them. The service was prompt and friendly. I could tell they have regulars (they came in after us) and treated them well which is always sweet to see. There was a chalkboard featuring lunch specials and a soup of the day that sounded amazing! I definitely want to come back to try lunch! Also...they sell Martinelli's apple juice! It's so good and comes in an adorable apple shaped bottle. We got some to go as it was too sweet to drink with the meal in my opinion. But a yummy treat afterwards!! read more

Best Breakfast and Bakery in Lubbock hands down! Maybe even in all of Texas. I read about this place in Texas Monthly. The apple turn-overs are the Bomb! Home fries are best in Texas. Homemade Sausage with some kick. I wish this place was in Austin so I could eat here every week. I bring Apple Tree cookies to my clients and they rave about them. My wife gets mad if i don't bring her a dozen. Great Coffee, toast, eggs. You won't be disappointed!! Lunch is great too. read more

This was a great little find on our visit to Lubbock for TCU/Tech basketball game. I had western omelette, hash browns and a biscuit & gravy. Husband had CFS, eggs and hash browns. All excellent & fresh. On way out couldn't resist taking back some snickerdoodles and a piece of their famous apple cake. Yum!! read more

Pleasant surprise. The sandwiches were delicious but the dessert was exceptional. Great atmosphere with a quiet but polished crowd. Will come back multiple times and make this spot one of my favorites. My friend says this place has the best breakfast in town. read more

A great family owned restaurant. Their menu is actually larger than you'd think for a small restaurant. Can't miss with the burgers and fries, but their chicken salad sandwich is excellent also. Great breakfast also-especially the biscuits. Very friendly staff and don't forget to look over the bakery case before you leave. read more

Everything about this place was fantastic. The food was absolutely amazing. The burgers were cooked perfectly, the fries were delicious, and they have a great selection of beers to go with it. You can tell they take pride in what they serve. What really made the experience stand out, though, was the staff. Our waiter, Drew, went above and beyond. He took the time to walk us through the menu, answered all our questions, and kept bringing extra sauces, jalapeños, and anything else we might want without us even having to ask. Another young man named Zo stopped by our table twice just to check in and make sure everything was perfect and to see if there was anything he could do to make our visit even better. That kind of attention and genuine hospitality really made an impression. The atmosphere is fun and welcoming. My mom and I might be a little older than some of the crowd, but we felt completely comfortable and right at home. Great food, great vibe, and outstanding service. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Lubbock!

And flies are buzzing around everywhere. I order and while ordering I say, "Hey what can be done about these flies to keep them away from me and off my food when it arrives". The answer, "that's because it's summer and we leave our door open, we have a salt gun but we can't use it when customers are here." "So... what is done to keep flies under control and away from my food?" I look around and see no deterrents hanging or placed, nothing. I just received a phone emoji worthy white man shrugging face. This place doesn't even have a fly swatter or flip flop from an angry Mom. The Sweet and Spicy burger arrives. It was good enough. Just so that you know FIFA WC soccer was on. Ivory Coast was up on Curaçao 2-0 and Germany was tied up with Ecuador 1-1 in a close and better elimination game. The audio for the bar was for the CIV v CUW. I was interested in the Germany v Ecuador game so I asked, "can we get the audio to the GvE game?" "No, those two ladies (only two other patrons in the bar) are watching the game being played/heard.". "No problem", I say. Meanwhile the women are talking super fast and weren't even taking breathes enough to hear the broadcast nor looking at the TVs. In my head I thought, man I don't write reviews often but this would be an epic one star. But decided chill out, and not. I finish my burger and beer and about with :15 mins left in the match the bartender changes the audio (to GvE) which is met with applause by the women, and an inner smile by me. Ecuador scores almost instantly as they pound on the table and stand on their stools, as if they were on Bourbon Street and things could get very interesting. Hmmm, I think to myself. These damn women are Ecuadorian. So what's with thinking they were Curaçaoian? Or am I to believe they didn't give two about looking at the Curaçao game and suddenly became super fans when the Ecuador game was turned on audio. Honestly. Did he miss the mark that much? Sure did. Anywho, the check arrives at the burger menu priced at $13 comes up as $13.83 and the pints are also like $9.odd amount like $9.81 or something. The total is $33.blah blah. I hand over my card but ask, "what's with the strange pricing? The menu says $8 for each item." "Oh let me check...oh yeah it because the menu lists cash prices and so if you pay cash, you get that price, if not you pay this price." WTH!!! Maybe that's listed on the menu. 11June2026 I have been married to a Lubbock Native for 27…read moreyears now, and for all of this time, I have been hearing about Spanky's, just across from Texas Tech University. She has been hyping up this joint forever and during this trip to her hometown, we ended up there on our first night we were in town. On the outside, it looks like the typical university food joint that could be at any university town across America. It was small with a few tables and booths and had stuff across the walls that yelled TEXAS TECH RED RAIDERS so loud that it could be seen from the ISS. Apparently, the owner is a big fan and possibly an Alumna of TTU. We ordered the hand dipped mushrooms and onion rings to go along with our burgers. Little did I know what an experience the two appetizers would be. Lets just say that I have NEVER has such wonderful shrooms and rings ... ever. Thats saying something. The mushrooms are not the typical soft, mushy ones that many places serve out of the Sysco bags ... no, these were easily identifiable as button mushrooms even through the crispiness of the batter. Firm, sliceable and easily skewered by a fork to be dipped in ranch sauce. In short ... they were lip-smackin good. The onion rings, dipped in the same batter, cooked in the same oil and served at the same temperature were just as delectable. They were thick sliced sweet yellows that held their toothiness throughout the frying process. Just the bite into it was yummy, sweet and crispy ... all at the same time. These reminded me of the onion rings I used to get at Tookies down in Seabrook, Tx during the 70's and 80's. For my main, I chose the "Hotter than Hell Burger" with crinkle fries. I like hot and spicy and expected it to actually be hotter than it was. The sliced jalapeño and habanero spread were present and did the job of letting my taste buds know they were doing their job. It just wasn't the knockout I was expecting from a burger place serving university students that would eat really spicy stuff on a dare. Don't get me wrong, that burger was really good, just as my Wife said it would be. That statement is truth, not hype, but hotter than hell, naah. More like hotter than heck. My biggest disappointment was the limited selection of good beer. Light beer, cheap lagers and Mexican standards. Would it hurt to put in an IPA or a Stout? Overall, the staff were wonderful and answered any of the myriad of questions I had about their fare. It was an actual experience for me, especially after all of the hype my Wife told me over the decades. Usually, after a big span of time, places from our youth let us down. Spanky's is NOT a place like that. I will be sure to make it there on the next trip to Lubbock ... even if my Wife isn't with me. Ciao, Darrell

Everyone at the office got apple tree for breakfast this morning like they do every Saturday. This was my first time and I'm a picky eater so when I got the biscuits and gravy and asked to have sausage crumbled on top the friendly and pleasant staff was nice and accommodating. It was fresh hot and absolutely delicious. The gravy had a amazing flavor. Would recommend this place to any and everyone, now I see why everyone loves getting food there from my office and why we constantly have their cookies around. And on a side note the fresh baked deserts and cookies looked amazing I will defiantly be going back for more very soon!! read more

My family was excited tr try Apple Tree Cafe after reading the reviews. However we walked in with a small 9lb SERVICE DOG who works for my DISABLED VETERAN husband & were told we COULD NOT bring him in. We have service ID, tags & leash for this animal. The place only had 2 other customers in there.The dog is & was very well behaved This is against the law for them to refuse entry.
