Lots of seating, they were very busy with take-out orders but still gave us excellent in-person attention. Large menu - lots of options for everyone! They also offer Boba Tea, we didn't order but regretted not getting one. My husband ordered their Pho and loved it. Food is just okay. We ordered: Big combo rice paper platter - the meats were decently flavored, the rice paper were mostly broken and stuck together before we even touched it. Veggies and fish sauce were fine. Fried rice was mushy - hard pass. Combo noodle dish was essentially a small version of the rice paper platter without the rice paper. Everything was soo great and fresh here today except for the.. egg rolls? Oddly colored and tasted like foam from what I was told. And a small mishap. But everything else.. delicious noodles, rice, and spring rolls! We got a veggie & shrimp fried rice, shrimp spring rolls, veggie egg rolls, shrimp lo mein, and veggie lo mein. All packaged very securely for take-out. My shrimp & veggie fried rice was one of the best I've had here except for they gave me veggies on the side, steamed. And the egg rolls were pretty bad. Some parts were fried white(??) and others kinda charred, didn't really have a taste. Oh well. But the 2 lo meins had a plentiful assortment of veggies including squash, zucchini, broccoli, and thick but not gloppy sauces. They were really good to try! So were the shrimp spring rolls. They were long bois, with a yummy peanut dipping sauce. I'm so happy that Applewood is 4 minutes (!!) away because the menu has so many options for pescatarians and vegetarians, with fast and friendly service. So instead I ordered their meatballs pho. He ordered chicken pho. Btw there was a sign on the wall that says their broth is hearty and their service is friendly. Lies! First off their broth is not hearty and their service is peppered with frowns and one really weird incident. We asked for a fish sauce we got a sauce for the deep fried egg roll. Clearly two things: she thinks we don't know what a fish sauce is and we're just asking for fun. Or-she's somewhat just plain rushed. Also we ordered fresh spring roll but since we walked in the two of them could hardly keep up with the influx of customers and ones that are leaving and who needs to pay. The couple next to us left. Same as another yelper, I started out as a 5 but went to a 2 by the time I left. Honestly, not sure why this place rates as a 4.5, as I would say it's a 4 at best. Maybe it's the distance for some people, who knows? Me and my partner both got the pho, he got meatball, I got rare steak and meatball. We also sampled a side of the egg rolls and the peach boba. The service started out great, we came in, the general manager (probably GM?) pointed directly to a seat and told us to sit there. I personally don't mind it quite as much, but it was def weird to be prescribed a seat. We were seated and given menus promptly. But unfortunately, as time went on, it seemed that we were forgotten about. The GM forgot about our peach boba and helped many other guests. By the time I got the boba, I was at the end of my meal, which to be honest for the prices you're charging, I don't feel food about. Perhaps this place shouldn't be staffed with only 1 server as they seem quite popular for takeout orders. The phos came, it was not bad. The broth was flavorful and deep, the steak and meatball were your standard fare. The egg rolls were very small based on the 5.50 price tag. If you think about Chinese restaurants comparatively, an egg roll could be like a dollar, and for 5.50 + tip, to get too long and tiny pieces of egg roll each cut in half, didn't seem quite worth it. The flavor was okay, a little bland on the inside, but the crispy outer layer is spot on in terms of texture and crunch. The peach boba was a total letdown. Even looking past the extremely late delivery, it was way too sweet. I usually get boba less sweet, since most Vietnamese places do make it sweet, but this was so sweet we couldn't even finish half of it between 2 people. The bobas themselves seemed a little over cooked as they were mushy. It's probably the location, there's probably not many pho restaurants close to the golden area or the mall, but personally it didn't feel quite worth it for me. The regular sized pho is 10.75, and I know it's not federal (since that's the hotspot for pho places) but that seems outrageous as their large pho was 14.50. Guys. It's soup and noodles with a little steak thrown on, for 14.50 I could probably find a real (albeit probably not that great) steak. We walked away with $35 before tip. For me, this place doesn't quite embody the spirit of your typical Vietnamese place, cheap, warm soupy food with fast service. I'd recommend revising your prices and you'll start getting a lot more business as you fulfill the niche Vietnamese restaurant goers want, because spending $20 per person is a night out for me, not a casual dinner. read more

A cold misty evening called for something warm like Pho. Decided to go somewhere nearby, and with 4.5 review rating I was excited to come here. Unfortunately it was a disappointment. I ordered the Chicken Pho and Spring Rolls. We ended up eating Egg Rolls, which is not what we ordered, but turned out to be the best part of the meal. My Pho broth was okay and the chicken, although ample amount, was super dry. It was dead, as if they boiled it, dehydrated it and then threw it into the broth. It took extensive chewing to get it down. Finally, the price was ridiculous for two Pho's, regular size and egg rolls, it was just shy of $30. Really? New ownership here sucks. He jacked the prices up, but didn't bother updating his website or the to-go menus sitting on their counter. When I questioned them, the new owner came out and wouldn't honor either of his advertised prices. He said "pay or you no get food" and walked away. I've been coming to Applewood Vietnamese for 3 years ordering takeout 1-2 times a month and instead of doing the right thing and adjusting $3, he told me to shove it. Overpriced! The price on the menu and walls are not correct but they refuse to change them Boba advertised for 3.95 but when you pay it is almost 7 bucks. The lady explains that price went up a while ago. We ordered some medium Bowls but she made them all large. Service was slow and pho was mediocre. My ms and I are from Califronia after a long drive and finally getting to our hotel which was around 7:30 we looked up place to eat and a lot of places were closing soon but I found this one and I didn't read reviews just saw this place and said "pho yeah"! So we get there and We meet the waitress an older Asian lady. She is the typical Asian waitress (this isn't meant to be racist ) but just the typical what do you want - okay - bye , which I'm fine with as I'm Asian and have experience this plenty of times. food - the food was amazing , pho was great wasn't the best but man it sure would be the reason I would go back for more , I ordered the large bowl house special and my ms got steak regular and Rangoon's so all of it was amazing , Service - the only down side was when we asked for to go containers she seemed annoyed and didn't give us To go utilities which I've always had to go utilities , she just didn't seem happy to have customers who also are happy to pay and tip. Service was as described in other posts: very matter of fact, not social or friendly, but prompt. Menu was not deep and had expected usual dishes. The service is TERRIBLE! I'm guessing they don't want inside seating customers. Although I didnt see one to go order. The waitress was incredibly rude and very irritated to be taken away from her shows on her phone. The appetizers were good, the eggdrop soup was amazing. However the very few grilled shrimp were not marinated or grilled in a traditional Vietnamese sauce. They put a sweet chili sauce on them ( yuk). The comb meat plate also had no traditional Vietnamese flavor. Both very very flat which isn't what you expect for Vietnamese food. The broth was on the sweat side, which I prefer spicy. - Would not order again. Ordered a noodle bowl. It was mediocre at best. Lots of noodles and thin dry meat. - Would not order again. The best place for pho on the Front Range!! My friend and I split an order of their egg rolls. I think they were slightly over-crisped and lightly filled in comparison to others I've tried, but the flavors were inarguably savory. Their Vietnamese iced coffee & Thai teas delighted us to the point we almost ordered a second! I ordered the beef and brisket pho--my control when trying new pho. Their broth is absolutely delicious and well-balanced! I definitely dug the ratio of the noodles and other accoutrements to the broth. Couldn't even stop myself from polishing off the bowl! This little gem is a mere ten minute drive from the hubs and my house. We finally got a to go order and were both duly impressed. I ordered the tofu and veggie noodles and he went with a combo pad Thai. The portions are huge and I easily got two meals out of my dish and my husband got two as well. My tofu was well done and the veggies were nicely seasoned. Nothing was too salty although it was in a soy based broth.
