Wow. Marco saved the day and saved us thousands of dollars during Covid 19 when he could easily have gouged us! First of all, he kindly consulted with us on the phone and determined exactly what we needed for our well-loved old range just by asking the questions (another person had told us it was unfixable). Then he came to West Marin (which is not in his territory) to fix it and his repair person was masked, it was all non touch to pay and he was incredibly professional. In the past six weeks both my Kitchenaid dishwasher and oven have needed repairs. Although I have an extended warranty, the warranty company is too busy to send out their own awful contractors, and told me to get my own and they would reimburse. So I called Appliance King. Marco is friendly, very knowledgeable and efficient. He showed up when he said he would and got the jobs done professionally and the invoicing done correctly for my warranty company. I recommend him highly. As to the office scheduler people have had problems with, I really can't say. I only spoke with her the very first time I called and she booked my appointment promptly. I'm super confused. After reading the rave reviews for Appliance King on Yelp, I decided to call and arrange a service call to look at why my dishwasher is not performing at 100%. I called the 415 number and reached a scheduling agent. She mixed up my name, told me that there are minimum service charges (which were very reasonable) then asked for my city and zip code. After scrambling the zip code I repeated it and she told me "I'm sorry but we do not offer service in your area at this time. Would you like me to refer you?" I am located less than 5 miles from San Rafael - only one digit difference in our zip code! Hard to believe that you don't service my area? read more

This is the second time we have used Appliance King and Marco. We continue to be impressed with the service. The door on our oven range lost a screw on the hinge a few weeks ago but due to the Shelter in Place and COVID-19 concerns I did not call for a repair right away and instead was carefully opening and closing the door. The door finally gave way last night and the oven became unusable. I called Appliance King this morning and Marco was out to our house by the afternoon. He wore gloves and a mask, maintained social distance and communicated with me in a professional matter. It is not an ideal time to have to have someone come in to your home but the oven repair was essential to ensure I could continue to prepare meals for my family. I highly recommend Appliance King! Why? Got same day appointment. The tech showed up right on time. My 11 year old GE fridge was making loud noise and not cooling properly. The tech diagnosed problem immediately and advised me to defrost the fridge by removing all food from fridge, leave doors open for eight hours with power plug removed. Not sure where all of these great reviews came from, because my experience shouldn't even rate one star. I called last week to schedule a tech to fix my ice maker. I should have known something was strange as soon as she asked how to spell 'San Rafael'. The appt time came and went. No call or able to get a human to speak to until selecting make an appt. Still no call back with an explanation. I just called again to find out what happened on Friday and the person answering the phone hung up on me. Shortly after posting this review, Marco, owner of Appliance King, called me. While I really appreciate him reaching out and explaining that the outsourced answering service did not obviously do it's job, the question of why the voicemail message was not received and returned was still not clarified. I feel he is being let by using this answering service as he was apologetic regarding my experience. read more

Yes.....Marco is a genius. He takes great pride in diagnosing a problem and fixing it for nothing or next to nothing, just his time. He came out to see if my microwave was working properly and then when I asked him about a burner on my cook top, he really got into detective mode. His solution was elegant and cost nothing...he merely manipulated the pilot by using a penny to lift up the cap. So, it only cost me a penny for the repair. read more

We recently had a gas leak in our stove and called Appliance King to come out and look at it. When the guy got to the house, he was there for about 15 minutes just re installed a piece that he said was installed wrong and said the leak was fixed. About 10 mins after he left the whole house smelled of gas again and the leak was not fixed. We called him again and he said he would order a new part for the stove and come out to install it. Later that day he called but I was unable to answer the phone. I returned his call but he never answered and never showed up to fix the stove. We ended up using another appliance repair guy to fix the stove. Needless to say we were not too impressed and ended up throwing away $70 dollars just for him to come out to the house. read more

Called around and were turned down by most appliance repair companies, being told that the LG version of the washer was considered too technically complicated to repair. I have an above the stove microwave oven assembly which developed a slight problem with the bottom touch buttons. I called Appliance King as I had work performed by them years ago at a different location. I remembered that they completed the job quickly and efficiently at a reasonable cost. I spoke with Marco and explained the problem to him. He asked if I was comfortable with giving him the model # and having him order the part and he would come by when the part arrived tondo the repair or if I wanted him to come out for a service call and then order the part. Gave him the information over the phone and he told me that the part would arrive in a couple of days. Two days later Marco called and wanted to know what day fit my schedule for the repair. He was on time. There was a slight problem as a small plastic piece had broken off inside the model, Marco called the parts department to see if they had a replacement piece. Long story short, they did not but had the whole touchpad works which was over $800! Marco left the decision up to me and I decided not to order the $800 replacement. Marco had an option of taking it apart and trying to fix it with what he had. Needless to say, it took a bit longer than originally planned but after the changing of the replacement part and the engineering fix of Marco's, the microwave works like the original and it was a fraction of the $800 part. I would highly recommend Appliance King and Marco. As a sidenote, a neighbor had a dishwasher problem right around the same time and called a well known Marin appliance repair service to fix it. 3 house calls before it was completed, 1 to see the problem and order the part, 2 to install the part ( but the wrong part was ordered and 3 to finally fix and install the correct part. My neighbor asked this company if they could look at my microwave and they said that they do not service microwaves. read more

On the phone Marco said the problem with my refrigerator was that it needed defrosting and he told me how to do it. I was surprised he would give me free advice. I followed his advice but it didn't work. So Marco came over the next day (a Saturday) and noticed my freezer had a bad case of ice build up and took care of it.
