Well, Mario is driving home now after saving our company's most important project. I called him in desperation after calling around to other places that thought I was talking about a water heater, not our 10 Ton industrial water-to-air heat exchanger. I called Mario this afternoon and he fixed it TODAY (warning - don't expect that - the fact that he came out at all puts him head and shoulders above the other folks that I had called). He arrived with meters and gauges in hand. He had not seen one of these units before (I believe), but examined it and took a first principles approach to it - identifying every element, not jumping to conclusions. After he was able to add some Freon (first addition in 14 years) in the exact correct amount, the unit jumped to life, remaining stable and being ready for service. Mario was engaging, but focused. While he was working, someone had called him for some advice - something for which it seemed that he likely was not going to get paid - but he unselfishly offered insight while he completed my work. Mario the repair technician arrived on time he had given me a Yelp estimate of $35 which turned out to be for the service visit.mario the technician was an amicable fellow and In less than 1 hour he was able to diagnose the problem ( a burnt out temperature sensor. He listened carefully when I explained my concerns about the Yelp app estimate not being Ing clear that it was only for the service call.1When I asked him how much the $fortunately Yelp had a 10% off for the first visit (yay) Yelp! Mario offered to repair the microwave for $180 which I declined. I plan to buy the temperature sensor Mario identified and repair it myself. I wish that I had been notified the increase in price above the estimate. Sensing my frustration mario offered to get the sensor and reassemble the microwave gratis which I accepted. Mario at Appliance Rebuilders provided outstanding service on a tricky repair issue. Our 20-year-old Thermador downdraft range hood had stopped working. The official Thermador repairman was useless--had me buy several hundreds of dollars of used parts but with no real idea of how to fix things. I called all around for other options and had almost given up on finding someone willing to look at it. (Most appliance repair places do not service downdrafts.). But Mario at Appliance Rebuilder was willing to take a look. He came right out and (unlike the Thermador guy) quickly diagnosed the problem and came up with a plan to fix it. He arranged to come back the next week with an assistant. He spent a busy few hours in my kitchen and crawl space. And he fixed the problem! Mario actually answered the phone when I called rather than needing to wait for a call back, and he was able to fit me on the same day. He knew exactly what the problem was with our fridge and was efficient and thorough with the repair. He went out of his way to make sure the glass shelves were properly cleaned when we were putting the fridge back together. We have an Avanti wine fridge that has been problematic for many years. It has a freon leak somewhere, which requires the freon to be replaced every 12 months or so. Mario was the first person to offer to actually detect and fix the leak rather than just replace the freon. It was a fair and smart offer, although we ended up declining because we didn't want to invest that much in fixing a crappy wine fridge. So we ended up having him replace the freon. Mario was responsive and nice when he first came to diagnose the problem. He even went online to show me what parts maybe needed and where can get cheaper ones. However, upon confirming to his quote, he never called me to give the schedule. I had sent several text and also called him, no answers !When I finally held him on phone on August 8, He then told me he did and he's coming on August 10(last Saturday), frankly I was surprised. On Saturday, I called him around 9:00am to ask when he's coming, he said noon, I waited until 3pm, and called again, he said he would come when he's done with the work on hand. He never show up nor call me to say anything. I don't understand the way he's doing business ! He can call me to let me know if he's not coming, or if he doesn't want to take this business. Not just waste my time to wait for the whole day! I feel like a fool to believe his words and wasted the time to wait for him. update : Mario finally called me this late afternoon and apologized for not showing up on Saturday. He said he could come right away. I asked him if he's serious? as I don't want to be fooled again. He came and started to repair, I can tell he has the skill and knowledge. He also helped to clean the cooktop and underneath. I really appreciate these extra work ! I told him, he has good skill but needs to improve his way of running business.
