We renovated recently and were having a hard time finding the right refrigerator with the main issue being we needed a counter depth fridge that was tall -- our kitchen has high ceiling but not a lot of area. Clayton Lugo from M&M was great -- he was very knowledgeable, grasped our problem quickly, and presented great solutions. He also was very communicative and responsive when we had to change our delivery dates. After we moved in, our laundry machine broke and we called up Clayton without hesitation. I went to M&M at the recommendation of an appliance repair technician I trust for a new refrigerator. The in store experience was great. Plenty of models to look at and understand what I wanted. I received a quote and was told to call or email back when we were ready. There was no sales pressure in the store. When we tried to complete the sale I called and emailed numerous times for a week+. I imagine the sales rep I was talking with would get a commission from my sale so I tried in vain to go through to them. I went through the online chat to ask for help and got bounced back to my sales rep voicemail. I escalated the request twice to other people in the company and had to follow up when that didn't go anywhere. After, I believe about 10+ days, my rep told me I should have just spoken to anyone to complete the purchase. The good is M&M prices were the same as big retailers, even with Black Friday deals. I couldn't get a better deal elsewhere. I appreciate this and the ability to spend money at a local small business. I would buy from them again if I needed something but would likely just make the purchase online and avoid issues with trying to get through to a sales rep. If you are ready to purchase when you visit their store I imagine that would make things easier as well. read more

We bought a Samsung fridge from M&M and they were very helpful in getting it ordered and delivered. But what showed up was not the same color that we originally ordered. This was more of a manufacturer issue than on M&M, but once Samsung admitted that the color we received was incorrect, they told us that only M&M could follow through with the complaint since we ordered through them. Fine. So I reached out to M&M but after multiple messages to them across a few weeks we received absolutely no response from M&M. Now we're stuck with the wrong color fridge because M&M refused to engage after taking our money. read more

I purchased my second LG washer and dryer from this dealer in March. This is the 3rd major appliance that I've purchased over the last 14 years. I can't say enough wonderful things about this store. I was desperate to replace both the washer and dryer because my old 14 year LG washer was gasping its last breath! I was able to order the appliances over the phone and the two salesmen that I spoke with kept me in the loop and forwarded the information I needed to my email. The installers came first thing in the morning as was promised by M&M. Because I have a small first floor laundry room, the two installers were efficient and careful when removing and replacing both appliances. In the future as other appliances start failing, I will only purchase them from M&M. read more

Update to 6/25 review. And it's not good. Looks like other people have worked with Todd with unhappy experiences. I'm hounding Todd and the owner Mike. I've never been treated so disrespectfully. When I bought 4 appliances from them, I was promised $1100 in rebates. One from the manufacturer was easy to request and arrived quickly. The second one for $500 has not happened! When I couldn't do it online, Todd told me that M&M had to process it and that was being done. Then nothing! I've texted, called, emailed, and virtually nothing. When I reached out to the owner, Mike, he didn't respond. My decision to buy the appliances was based in part on the promise of $1100 in rebates. Because they aren't honoring the promise that I have in writing and aren't even responding to me, I question everything about this deal. DO NOT DEAL with THEM! read more

I will never use M&M appliance DC ever again. My sales contact, Todd, routinely over promised and under delivered. The communication was incredibly poor, with BOTH my onsite survey and delivery schedules not occurring as scheduled. Todd reassured me after the first time that this was unprecedented and that if it happened again for the delivery and installation, I should contact him the day before and he would take care of it. After emailing him and leaving him a voicemail on Friday afternoon because I hadn't gotten a booking call for my Saturday installation, I waited at home on Saturday just in case they were still coming. He didn't get back to me until after I had called multiple other departments and the Alexandria location, who contacted him. Todd finally called me and had no idea why it wasn't rescheduled. Turns out he was multitasking and accidentally rebooked my installation! He said they were under staffed and mistakes happen. Which I would understand IF he had contacted me on Friday or Saturday after my voicemail and email. You would think that if you had a client get "unprecedented" poor customer service, you would prioritize getting back to that client to prevent a second unprecedented missed delivery. I would have been very happy to just work with dispatch directly but instead Todd made me got through him every time and he would take days to respond to me. He asked me how they could make it right, which should have been something he offered not made me decide upon. Todd reluctantly said he might be able to knock $75 off the final bill but he would have to get back to me. Unsurprisingly he did not until after I reached out to him. For context, I have never asked for a manager in my life, but I called his and left a voicemail about this poor service. I never heard back from him. While the onsite staff that I worked with were excellent, I had to spend hours and hours of my time hounding Todd over the course of 2 weeks. If you're understaffed and having trouble responding to customers in a timely fashion, be upfront and set realistic expectations for communication. Additionally allow the customer to contact the needed department directly, which would have prevented 80% of the issues here. read more

Todd listened to what was and wasn't important for me, came up with a couple of bids, revised the bids, found great rebates for me, and was just so nice to work with. Appliances arrived when promised. Scheduling install was great, they worked with me and my complicated schedule. Then the three guys came to install. They were on time, so nice and professional, cleaned up after, and gave me a little lesson on how to use my new appliances. I love that the guy installing the gas stove could also do the inspection so I don't have to arrange to have someone come out. M&M made this so easy! When a purchase through a national company got badly screwed up by the delivery provider they used (screwed up not once but twice), I turned to M&M for local service. Within 90 minutes of my phone call, Brian had offered a better dishwasher at a doable price and confirmed it would be delivered at my must-do date at the end of the week. The day before that date, I got a call confirming and a time window. The next day, right on schedule, the dishwasher arrived with a friendly and very efficient three-man crew. Delivery was set for a Friday morning delivery and they were right on time. The delivery and setup guys were very professional, courteous and clean picking up as they went. We've had several issues with the appliances over a year (Frigidaire) and getting them to respond to a phone call is like pulling teeth. When we do get a response and finally schedule a "technician" ...we're made to feel like we're privileged. Then the "technician" shows up...has no clue what the problem is...but charges us. They charge you for every unsuccessful visit. Now that's a new business model! Problems included issues with the washer, dryer, microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher. Seriously!? Is there anything that hasn't had issues and which they couldn't fix properly? Zero stars please and close this one for good. read more

We purchased a Blomberg gas range at the end of 2020. We went with a local store in order to help local folks especially since it was during the pandemic. With installation it cost about $2600. This was a real splurge for us. In early November, I called for service because the oven was not heating properly. I was told I'd get a call back, but never did. I called and left two more messages and emailed the owner directly. Still no response. Now the warranty has expired. I'm waiting on another company to come service it and hope it's not terribly expensive. But I will not shop at M&M again and will deter anyone who asks me about them. I came because the business is near my neighborhood and seems to have competitive prices. I actually had better responsiveness from the young clerk at a Lowe's a couple of nights ago when I first began my research. He was extremely knowledgeable, and quite helpful even though I told him that I was not ready to buy just yet, as I was in the early stages of research. However, given my interactions at M and M, I'll probably go back the big box store to purchase the refrigerator that I had in mind. I went with M&M because I live in DC, wanted to support a small businesses and I seriously regret it. I don't know about the whole operation but My experience with their service department has been nothing short of maddening. Now thanks to that it has been 2 months since we have been without a working washing machine. They do not communicate effectively, I've had to call to get updates on "parts" they are waiting for, several times getting opposite statements and they really do not care about their customers and how it is affecting you. So save your money, your sanity and avoid this place. I wish I did that from the get go, now I am at Lowe's...My mistake was not checking their reviews; it is not surprising most of their recents ones are also horrible; fits the pattern! read more

I wanted to give a shout out to the folks at M&M appliance in DC for coming thru when I was ready to give up on getting a new stove/oven. I wanted a specific make/model and the product was on back order or unavailable at big box stores and one other local appliance shop that I tried. I made a cold call to M&M and Germaine Bennerson answered the phone. He confirmed that M&M carried the item I was looking for and also confirmed that it was on back order. However, unlike prior contacts with the sellers, Germaine took time to explain to me why the item was hard to get and also what M&M would do in terms of ordering the items for me and charging me half when I placed the order and the balance when the item was ready to be delivered & installed. This is precisely the type of customer service that is sadly lacking in the retail industry. I ordered the appliance from Germaine and was pleasantly surprised when it was available for delivery and install ahead of schedule. The delivery / installation team, lead by Jose, was likewise, very professional and addressed issues that arose in a competent and efficient manner. The price of the appliance was competitive with the other suppliers. What distinguished M&M was the customer service throughout the process. read more

More important, when they tell you they're going to deliver their appliances, everything happens as expected. We purchased a washer from M & M Appliances (Bel Air Store). In order to meet THEIR delivery schedule, we had to wait 8 days and my husband had to take a day off from work. When the washer was delivered the delivery person noted that the washer was damaged. After sending $981.84, we were not going to accept a damaged item. We contacted the store who wanted us to, once again, reschedule a delivery date which would mean we would be waiting another 2 days and my husband can take off another day from work. If this is the type of service that M & M Appliances offers, I will not be purchasing another item from their store. read more

A hidden gem. For 10 years I have lived less than a mile from the best appliance store in Washington, DC and didn't know it until I was searching for a compact washer and dryer. In my search, I found that compact washers and dryers weren't the sort of things you'd find at the big box stores. In searching online I found M and M appliance on Blair Road. I must have passed by it 5,000 times. So I decided to go in and check them out. I was greeted by Clayton showed me to the washers. What I thought was a moderate show room opened up into a massive kitchen showroom with every brand of ranges, cooktops ovens. Brands like True, Subzero, Meile, brands I've only seen in Architectural Digest. There were also Samsung, Whirlpool, GE, Kitchen Aid, and Electrolux. As we winded our way back to the washers and dryers passing through another room of appliances, I saw Alsko, Bloomberg, Electrolux, Miele, Bosch and Fagor. All of the brands I had seen online were here in front of me and Clayton knew the specs and pros and cons of each one. The great thing about sales is that when it's done properly it's an educational process for the customer. Though I had poured over websites and reviews online, it was Clayton's knowledge that gave me the confidence to make a good decision. The Electrolux fit my budget and had most of the features I liked. There was also a Fagor set that had been discontinued that offered everything I wanted at about the same price (but I was worried that because it was discontinued , I'd have difficultly getting it repaired). The one thing that stuck with me was that Clayton emphasized that if products didn't meet their quality standards they didn't sell them. I've never heard anything like that from Home Depot or Lowes. I've also never spoken to anyone at one of those stores who was as knowledgeable about all products as Clayton. I took a few days to mull it over. When I came back I made my decision to go with the Fagor set. Since it had been discontinued, Clayton gave it to me for a great price! Installation and extended warranty were based on total purchase price, so it ended up being very affordable. Also, if you don't use the 5 year extended warranty they give you all of it back! After the install, Clayton called to ask how it went. Since we hadn't hooked up the electric (it required 220, and we hadn't installed the outlets) I told him I'd call him on Friday, after I did my first load of laundry. On Saturday afternoon I called Clayton. When he answered, there was no "hello", just a very direct; "have you run a load.?". When I told him that it worked beautifully and I really like the machines he sighed with relief. "Ive been thinking about you, was hoping that it worked out and you liked it". Tell me where in this town, or anywhere else are you going to find that kind of commitment to a customers satisfaction? I have recommended M and M to friends and I whole heartedly recommend them to anyone looking for an appliance. You will find more selection and competitive pricing than any of the big box stores. You'll find knowledgeable, ethical sales people who are focused on your satisfaction. When you go, ask for Clayton, he's the best! read more

We were very happy with our first experience with M&M appliance. We went to the Blair Road location a few weeks ago and just had our washer and dyer installed this morning. Noah our sales rep was very patient with all my questions and gave use great guidance when purchasing. We were able to get an amazing washer and dryer set that we never would have have gotten without his assistance in figuring out what will work in our space. this was the main reason we wanted to use M&M vs a big box store. For the installation, the guys that came out were super. They didn't bat an eyelash at our tiny closet and the install guy, Brian, had to squeeze into this a very small space to hook everything up! We had a few nail biting minutes as we all waited to see if he could get out from behind the washer/dryer and he did. they really went above and beyond to make sure everything got installed correctly. And thank you also to the manager who drove out the drain pan that was forgotten when the truck was loaded from the warehouse so we could have it in time for the installation. I was dismayed that was left off the truck originally but we got it all done! We plan to use M&M for our next appliances as we are working our way through replacing everything. read more

We had an amazing experience working with Todd Spencer which was done entirely remote and saved weeks and possibly months, as well as expensive rework, from our refrigerator shopping process. The control board in our old GE Monogram built in was damaged during the storm on Thursday 7/1 so we called around for repairs on Friday 7/2 and decided the cost wasn't worth it. Given the supply limitations of COVID, we decided to replace first with a freestanding unit which we could later move to our basement. As you can imagine, that didn't get a friendly reaction from most retailers looking to sell us the most expensive built-in possible, but Todd was consultative and friendly and sent me 5 different options in stock for quick delivery. We then found out the cutout for the fridge (35.5 inches for monogram) wouldn't accommodate the size and ventilation specs for most other 35-36 inch fridges, so by Tuesday night we were at a crossroads of whether to go smaller or remodel. While other retailers were continuing to push time insensitive upsell options, Todd stepped in and saved the day with a high quality but reasonably priced GE model that was in stock for IMMEDIATE delivery! We placed the order and confirmed the delivery (their team is great about calling to confirm everything) on Wednesday morning 7/7 and by Thursday morning 7/8 9 AM had our new fridge fully installed and operational. In the short term we got by with a 3.2 cu ft magic chef that we got on Craig's list for $60. M&M saved us an incredible amount of time, money and stress by getting the job done. Jaime and Edgar delivered and installed my air conditioning unit in my living room. Jaime and Edgar are highly skilled and safety conscious installation representatives/technicians. They should be commended for their work ethic and their dedication for the way that they provided me with the very best air conditioning installation services. For the most part, the customer service is great as you can always get someone on the phone and they are usually helpful, especially if you talk to Mike who is the owner. Also, they sell appliances for a very reasonable price. I inquired about a dishwasher more than 2 months ago and spoke to the owner Mike. At that time, I asked if he would match the prices of Home Depot's 4th of July sale and he agreed with no issues. However, even with the great price I decided to still shop around and one thing led to another and I didn't purchase any dishwasher. Anyway, after I got some more time, I started to look again for a dishwasher and this was well over 2 months since my first inquiry and Mike remembered me and still gave me the same 4th of July deal despite there not being any current deals at other big box retailers. He honored the price he quoted me and said that it wouldn't be a problem. Unfortunately, I'm deducting a star due to their delivery service. The first appointment I was scheduled, they didn't show up at all. When I called them, they told me they had to reschedule due to an emergency, which is fine, but it would have been nice to tell me this before my appointment time had already passed. So, basically I had wasted half the day waiting for them. After I rescheduled for another day, they missed their appointment window again. I called the delivery department several times before (a day earlier and the day of), hoping it wouldn't happen a 2nd time, and they assured me they were coming, but they sure didn't come during my allotted window time. After I spoke to someone on the phone that my window had passed, they told me the person delivering would be late. I told the delivery department that I couldn't stay past 2 hours after my scheduled delivery window since I had already set another appointment, but that didn't seem to help much. Eventually, I spoke to Mike (the owner) and he was helpful as usual, telling me they would come in 30 minutes, which they did. In the end, the installer was very capable and did a great job, but I couldn't give them the full 5 stars considering the missed appointments. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but it took some intervention from Mike to get things moving along. Their prices are on par with the big box retailers and the delivery/installation charges are also similar. Also, it's easy to reach someone by phone who is usually helpful, but they do need to work on their delivery schedules. read more

I should have read the other reviews on Yelp before deciding to go with this company. I was trying to support an independent business and it completely backfired. The delivery and service experience has been atrocious. We placed a big order with them for a Fridigaire Professional fridge, range, range hood, and dishwasher plus a garbage disposal and an Electrolux washer and dryer, and we've had issues with nearly every component: 1) The delivery team showed up a day later than they were supposed to with no heads up (I had to call them to figure out what was going on) 2) The washing machine, dishwasher, and garbage disposal were missing from the order. 3) When they came back to deliver the three missing items they brought the wrong washer and had to come back a third time to deliver that. 4) The refrigerator had a cracked compartment lid and the shelves were sloping downward 5) The range hood had a broken clip and wouldn't close correctly 6) The range had a dented in door and had to be replaced. 7) The burners on the stovetop don't line up with the painted lines 8) The dryer broke after doing a single load of laundry (dryer belt was shredded and the repair tech guessed that it was somehow damaged on delivery). This all leads me to believe that I was sold some sort of refurbished appliances because there's no way you'd have this many issues with brand new products. The sales guy that we bought the appliances from is trying to help things get back on track, but at this point I'm worried that we're going to have issues with these appliances long past the one year warranty period. Stick with a big box store. The small amount of satisfaction that you get from supporting these guys is not worth the subsequent headaches. read more

I prefer to use smaller, locally-owned stores to big box stores, so M&M was at the top of my list when it came time to order a new washer and dryer. Besides which, they are within walking distance of my home, so I figured arranging delivery would be easier than with the big guys. Well, I tried three times over two days to place my order, and it just did not work out. I had my credit card out on my lap, and I had no preference for the dryer model, but I just could not manage to complete the sale. I have a few small concerns about delivery that I needed help with. I live in a 93 year-old house with narrow doorways, so I wanted to ask if a 27" appliance could be brought in through a 27.5" doorway. I also wanted to know whether my preferred washer was in stock and, if so, what the approximate delivery date would be. As I need to have a handyman available to re-hang an exterior door post-delivery, coordinating the timing is just as important to me as the actual appliance I am ordering. I started the process on a Thursday afternoon, calling at 2:00 p.m. No one was available to take my call, and no one called me back before 3:30 p.m. when I was in work meetings for the rest of the day. That can happen, so I called back the next morning. The person with whom I spoke gave me curt answers and did not seem to be willing or able to provide me the information I needed to help me coordinate delivery and solve my own plumbing and doorway problems. I sensed that I had put him off in some way so I tried really hard to "keep a smile in my voice," to stay polite and patient, and to re-direct to new questions when it seemed we had hit a wall in our communication: e.g. "While I'll look this up online, would it be helpful if I gave you my contact information...Ok, do you want a phone number or an address?" I just could not seem to get my questions answered, so I ended the call and started shopping around at other stores. Later on Friday evening around 4:45 p.m. I used the online chat to speak with a new M&M sales associate. I was asking questions like "Is the washing machine unit I want in stock?' "Is there a matching or close-to-matching gas dryer for this washing machine," and "What are your delivery charges?" The chat was rather slow, and all I could find out was that the delivery and install charges for a dishwasher (which I was not ordering) average $129. The person with whom I chatted online submitted a follow-up ticket for me, and I received an email record of part of our conversation. I got the impression that someone would contact me with answers to my questions. When no one was in touch with me by 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, I just called Lowe's. They answered all of my questions and completed the transaction within 35 minutes, including time spent on hold waiting for a sales associate to help me. I really want to use neighborhood businesses, but if you can't manage a timely phone sale during a pandemic, then you lose out. read more

In late 2020, we purchased a GE refrigerator from M&M. Upon installation, certain components didn't work, so we had a follow-up visit that determined the problem had to be fixed by GE technicians. That process was a nightmare, with GE techs coming out, assessing the wrong problem, creating additional problems, and then ordering more parts that took 2-4 weeks to arrive each time. After five months without a properly working fridge, we again contacted M&M and explained the situation. They worked with GE to find a new unit within days (which was impressive, considering the backorders due to covid). So while it took some time to resolve, we were ultimately happy with M&M's customer service and their ability to find a replacement so quickly. All other aspects of their service is very good--on-time appointments, friendly service, and good covid protocols--and we plan on buying from them again. read more

When a problem appeared with a manufacturing flaw in on of the appliances and the manufacturer was dragging their feet on properly taking care of the problem M &M stepped up and resolved the issue. I worked with Daniel to purchase a range and hood for a kitchen remodel. I could not have been happier with the service I received. Daniel was knowledgeable and helpful, offering me suggestions without trying to steer me in any one direction. He pointed out things I never would have considered and patiently walked me through the whole process. He went above and beyond what most people would do and even had sample paint colors overnighted to me, After the sale was complete Daniel continued with great service. When my range stuck out a little further from the wall than I expected he even went so far as to come by my house on his way home from work to help me figure out how to push the stove back a little further. So I visit the website, and then make a phone call. The website has one piece of information the phone call person has nearly opposite information. Next day I go visit the store. A completely new set of information is provided that was essentially 180 out from each of the previous ones, if you can wrap your head around that. Furthermore, prices for the same item had nearly a $1,000 price range depending on whether I was asking the person in front of me, relying on the information from the person on the phone, or looking at the website. Now I don't know what to think. Wait, I do know what to think. I think I'm going somewhere else. Six years ago I had a good experience with this shop. I conducted an entire deal over the telephone, received my delivery on time and in good condition without any problems. I'm unsure as to why things have changed. read more
